Hunter Tylo Opens Up on Why She Didn’t Return to B&B; That She Never Received the Nearly $5 Million Settlement from ‘Melrose Place’ Firing

Over the last week, the reclusive former star of The Bold and the Beautiful, Hunter Tylo (ex-Taylor Hayes) has made two virtual interview appearances in short order on the Jersey + Coffee + Yeshua Show on The Unexpected Cosmology You Tube Channel.

Surrounded by her artwork, Tylo first chatted with hosts Noel Joshua Hadley and Jenna Rose in part one entitled, Hunter Tylo Unfiltered: She left Hollywood and now she’s back to talk about it live on August 1, and then on August 7, she returned to the channel again for part two called The Hunter Tylo Chronicles: Revealing the Dark Side of Hollywood.

Often the conversations go off track but sort of spans a myriad of subjects including: narcissistic relationships, toxic behavior, satanical forces, sexual abuse, christianity, religion, working in Hollywood, horror films, sexual exploitation, soap operas, working on The Bold and the Beautiful, the Queen of Drama reality show, Hunter’s relationship with her late ex-husband, soap star, Michael Tylo, the Melrose Place lawsuit where she was fired for being pregnant, why she didn’t return to B&B more recently, and so much more.

Tylo’s life has been very complex and traumatic most of her adult live; including losing her son, Mickey back on October 18, 2007, at 19 when he accidentally drowned in the family pool in Henderson, Nevada. The Clark County Coroner concluded that “the cause of death was drowning due to seizure disorder,” and was ruled accidental. In addition, in 1998, her daughter Katya was only 4-years-old when she was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer, and had to have her eye removed to save her life. Tylo wrote about that experience in her 2000 memoir, Making a Miracle.

‘MAKING A MIRACLE’ SEQUEL, MELROSE PLACE LAWSUIT, MICHAEL TYLO ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP

This week, when asked by fans in the live chat, if Tylo will write a follow-up book, Hunter shared, “Yes. I’ve always wanted to, because the first one, Making a Miracle, I didn’t even get to make up that title after I won with the lawsuit that I never got paid for again, like I don’t have $5 million everybody, so I don’t even think about it. That was just basically setting a precedent so women can’t be forced to have an abortion. So, the book was written by Simon and Schuster by an assigned author.”

Hunter went on to say, “And the guy was a ‘Churchian’ person who wrote it from his angle of his understanding, and he modified a lot of stuff. He candy-coded a lot of stuff, and he completely left out stuff that was about my husband that I think a lot of women need to know. They need to know what are the signs if you’re in a coercive or an abusive relationship. I would like to write it with all the truth this time, and even talk about what I went through in real-life with my family and losing a brother and then getting my stuff together, getting my life together, and just finding truth.”

DECISION TO NOT RETURN AS TAYLOR HAYES

Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful remember Tylo as the original Dr. Taylor Hayes back in 1990, and she had played the role on and off for several decades. Then in 2021, Krista Allen took over the role till 2023, and then in 2024, Rebecca Budig took over the part.

However, there has been some rumors as to why Hunter decided not to return in 2021, she finally decided to come forward with her version of the story. “I’ve wanted to come back and talk to my fans for a long time,” she explained. Tylo shares she told the B&B brass, she did not want to come back to the show at that time, and “They said, ‘Well, if you don’t, then we are going to recast you.’ I said, ‘Okay, all right.’”

As it turned out, Hunter and Krista Allen shared the same talent manager and they were both friends. On Allen being cast as Taylor, Hunter remarked, “I don’t know if they thought that might make me mad. But it didn’t.”

TAYLOR VS. BROOKE

The popular actress did explain that her perspective came from that working on the show, and in soaps, it wasn’t always fun for her, elaborating, “You are nonstop expected to cry. You are in constant trauma when you’re doing these shows. You literally live end up living two lives and it’s very very stressful.”

Photo: JPI

Working in the genre, Tylo eventually shared that she did not like the repetitive storylines and “triangulations” as she called it for love triangles, adding, ‘All I do is cry, scream, yell, slap people across the face, wish them dead, say I hate your guts to people, shove them over a balcony, mow them down the car.” Hunter said she wanted to be a part of more positive stories as these did not align with who she is and her beliefs.

In addition, Hunter did bring up how she would be pitted against the Brooke Logan camp and actress Katherine Kelly Lang, by the fans online and that the discussions would inevitably dissolve into both factions hurling insults at each other and ultimately in insulting and hurting Hunter’s feelings in the process.

BEHIND THE SCENES DRAMA ON THE MAKING OF ‘QUEENS OF DRAMA’

Tylo also talked about shared a story from 2015’s POP TV reality series, Queens of Drama in which she starred alongside, Knots Landing and GH Daytime Emmy winner, Donna Mills (ex-Abby, ex-Madeline, respectively). “So they tell us that we are going to be talking about which one of you has the best idea to pitch to the new network for the ultimate in soap opera, a new one,” she explains as the concept. “Like, you might be now the one that pitched the next new Dynasty or the next new Dallas or the next, Flamingo Road or whatever.”

Photo: POPTV

Hunter went to explain the younger girls in the cast were pitted against Donna Mills and her as the older women in the cast for the purposes of the storyline arc. However, she then explains the producers asked to film at her house and wanted to know what kind of events go on there that they could film? Tylo explained,”Well, I am a believer. So, you know, sometimes we sit at home instead of going to church and we read scripture out loud.” And so they’re like,”Can we come film that?” I said, ‘Wow. Cool! Really? Alright.” I thought that could be a positive role model moment. But then, I started getting pages in my email that I start opening and going, “Huh? So they’re now going to direct me in what we’re going to talk about in a Bible study? We’re going be talking about being Born Again, just all these trite words, etc?”

If fans recall, Tylo ended up abruptly leaving the reality show, when during filming, she fell to the ground and shared that she felt she had dislocated her hips and her shoulder. You can check out Donna Mills talking with none other than Cameron Mathison (Drew, GH) on ET about the mishap and Tylo’s mysterious exit below.

So, what do you think about the comments made by Hunter on her decision to not return to The Bold and the Beautiful? How she still claims she has never been paid any of the nearly 5 million dollar settlement from Aaron Spelling Productions after being fired from Melrose Place for being pregnant? Her thoughts thoughts on her former husband, Michael Tylo and more? Let us know in the comment section.

Lived two blocks from her in Vegas time to let it go glad she did not come back. Time to move on he wanted to destroy the character he accomplished it

Yes she had a battle with kimberlin brown yes their was trouble with KKL but yes a after ten years it’s over done and let it go

I’m honestly amazed that it took so long to speak up. It’s fascinating to hear her side and I hope she continues to speak her truth.

Yaaaaawwnn

Next…

KKL can’t hold a candle to Hunter Tylo.
I wouldn’t want to come back to a part that would always favor another character over me either and Brad Bell has proven this time and time again.

Yes, KKL can. KKL is just as beautiful than Hunter, especially all the surgeries Hunter went through. You can’t hardly recognize Hunter. It’s a shame she would do that to her face. She looked horrible.

She will always be the one and only Taylor Hayes . Just like Ron Moss will always be Ridge Forrester. Sometime real artists have to take a stand against garbage. Shes made the right descision not returning. Brad Bell is producing some real garbage currently at B & B. And as far as Melrose Place , well we saw what Lisa Rinna came up with.

I always thought she was weird

Alexis…y-e-p. She always seemed odd to me. Years ago, I once read somewhere that she likes snakes…ACTUAL SNAKES…and that she likes to keep them as pets. Yikes.

Agreed. Never liked her as Taylor. If acting is so bad why do it. She comes across as arrogant as she was in the role. And as someone here said it – let it go.

I don’t understand how she was not paid for the court settlement. Why didn’t she and her lawyer, who surely wanted to be paid, pursue it or make a stink out of not being paid????

Jere Burns Joins ‘The Young and the Restless’ in Multiple-Episode Arc with Emmy Winner Susan Walters

Published

Next week, beginning on Monday, June 15, Jere Burns will make his debut in his new role on The Young and the Restless as Dr. Laurence Markham. The veteran actor who has appeared in numerous television and motion pictures will share scenes with Susan Walters (Diane Jenkins).

In an ironic twist, fans of the late 80s-early 90s, NBC sitcom Dear John will recall that Burns and Walters appeared together in the cast. Walters played the role of Mary Beth Sutton, while Burns took on the role of smooth-talking and quirky ladies’ man Kirk Morris.

This marks the first time in Jere’s career that he has appeared on a network television soap opera. His most recent credits include his recurring role on CBS’ FBI, and the Hulu series, Death and Other Details.

Photo: JPI

Now fast-forward to Y&R, and TV Insider has the inside scoop of what how these two link up. Dr. Markham comes into the story as Diane’s whereabouts remain in question after the falling out with her husband Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).

A LITTLE DITTY ABOUT JACK AND DIANE

Jack and Diane’s marriage has fallen on hard time, after Diane caught Jack in bed with Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) while drugged; all thanks to the machinations of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Although, Jack has tried to salvage his marriage, Diane moved out of the Abbott mansion and has stayed away from Jack.

The last time anyone heard from Diane in Genoa City was back in the May 14 episode when she left a voicemail for Jack, telling him although she is hurt and confused over what happened with Patty, she wants to try and find a path forward. However, since that time no one has seen her. Does Diane’s disappearance have to do with Patty and now the incoming Dr. Markham?

Currently, Susan Walters is appearing this week on Beyond the Gates as part of the crossover event between the two CBS soaps.  As a result of production timelines between the two series, things are not in line with the story of Diane and Jack on both soaps. On Beyond the Gates, the two are attending Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) political fundraiser together and get caught in a tornado that hits Fairmont Crest, even as her disappearance remains unsolved back in Genoa City.

Walters shared on working with Jere Burns again decades later, “He was a fantastic scene partner in this upcoming story arc.”

So, do you think Dr. Markham will harm or help Diane? Is Patty behind Diane’s disappearance? Do you feel a bit discombobulated watching Diane and Jack seemingly OK with each other on Beyond the Gates, while on Y&R she is MIA? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

On Thursday June 11, it was announced that The Bold and the Beautiful’s Bradley Bell (executive producer and head writer) is getting into the burgeoning vertical space, and will bring his first microseries, Hollywood Starlet, under his Red Flair Entertainment banner to aTwist (formerly MicroCo) the U.S.-based microseries studio and platform that is set to launch later this summer.

The upcoming microdrama is called Hollywood Startlet and will be led by vertical drama stars: Eric Guilmette (You Belong With Me, Tails of Christmas) and Molly Anderson (We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together) and Bella Mraz (Faceless). Guilmette will also serve as co-producer of the series.

Hollywood Starlet will film at Sunset Las Palmas Studios in Hollywood across multiple stages where CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful transitioned in 2025 after 38 years at Television City.

The upcoming microdrama was created by Brad Bell; directed and written by Kristen Brancaccio; and executive produced by Anthony Ferrari, Oliver Bell, Paxton Fuller and Graham Lawyer. Bradley Bell and his son Oliver Bell founded Red Flair Entertainment to specifically focus on elevated vertical series.

Microseries are serialized stories designed for mobile-first viewing: typically 40-60 episodes of one to three minutes each, built vertically, and consumed either in moments throughout the day or as a binge experience all at once. This is a fast-growing global category, generating an estimated $10 billion annually worldwide.

By combining Hollywood storytelling with a tech-first production and distribution engine, aTwist is focused on delivering quality vertical content alongside an engagement-driven platform for dedicated fan communities.

aTwist is founded by: chief executive officer Jana Winograde (former President of Showtime), chief creative officer Susan Rovner (former Chairman of NBCU Content and President of Warner Bros TV), and executive chairman Lloyd Braun (former Chairman of ABC Entertainment Group, studio and network, and Chairman of WME).

In a statement on Bell’s upcoming foray into microdramas, Susan Rovner expressed, “Brad Bell is one of the most influential creative forces in daytime television, and bringing him into the aTwist universe is a major moment for us. The Bold and the Beautiful has defined storytelling for decades, and we’re thrilled to collaborate with him as he brings that legacy into a new format with Hollywood Starlet. We think fans are going to love seeing this world evolve in such a fun, fresh way.”

aTWIST TO SERVE UP SLATE OF ORIGINAL MICRODRAMAS

With a track record of building iconic franchises, launching global hits, and transforming creative vision into scaled entertainment businesses, the aTwist leadership team will create a home for original verticals in a multitude of genres, curated acquired microseries, and creator-led innovative narrative storytelling – building a quality-driven, globally scalable microseries ecosystem, rooted in fandom, community, and storytelling excellence.

aTwist is creating original content that spans comedy, drama, unscripted, horror, and romance built for how mobile-first audiences consume content today. From fresh, bold ideas by emerging talent to exciting collaborations with existing IP, brands, and stars, aTwist is establishing a destination for audiences who want engaging stories anytime, anywhere. A platform built to create community around fandoms, a place where consumers can find stories built for joyscrolling, not doomscrolling.

In addition, aTwist recently announced a partnership with BET to develop and distribute microseries across linear and vertical platforms, with a first-of-its-kind windowing model bringing microseries to television while expanding storytelling rooted in Black culture and community. aTwist currently has more than 20 series in production across scripted, unscripted and animation formats, with a strong pipeline of series in development. The studio and platform will deliver a slate of originals that push the current microseries offerings, tapping into underserved fandoms across horror, thriller, comedy, drama, anime, sci-fi and more.

As soap fans know, The Bold and the Beautiful has aired on CBS for 39 years, and is the most-watched U.S.-produced daytime drama in the world. In addition to his work with The Bold and the Beautiful, Brad Bell is also an owner of its sister soap, The Young and the Restless, which has aired on CBS for 53 years.
