Ian Buchanan To Make Appearances on General Hospital

Photo: JPI

Now that the cat is out of the bag from Daytime Emmy winner, Ian Buchanan, himself, General Hospital fans should be on the lookout for some ghostly Duke Lavery sightings.

According to the actor on a recent Cameo video to a fan, Buchanan shared: “I’m gonna be there on Monday or Tuesday this coming week. Just appearing… ghosting. But I don’t think anybody knows it. You may be the first. Well, I knew it, and people there knew it, but I haven’t heard about it anywhere else. So you may want to watch it.”

Ian became wildly popular as GH’s Duke, having first appeared on the scene in the summer of 1986 till the character “died” in 1989.  However, Buchanan returned as Duke in 2012 until 2015 when Duke died once again, this time apparently forever.  Enter the ghostly visits!

In story, Anna (Finola Hughes) and Duke were a GH super couple back in the 80’s, and in 2015, Duke was shot and killed by Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Vincent Parise)..

So how will Duke re-appear on GH? Let us know your thoughts via the comment section below.

Duke is likely to appear as a ghost/vision to Julian as he finally exits the canvas. Wouldn’t be surprised if Carlos, Connie or (gasp) Morgan also reappear.

Morgan didn’t appear, because he’s not a ghost!

Well OK, neither is Alexis, but she probably got drunk and accidentally left her body or something.

Connie’s white blood stained dress has to by one of the most iconic (and I hate that term) outfits in Port Charles history.

Not sure I like this. First off, why the hell did they have to kill off the character again in 2015? i loved the character of Carlos even if he wasn’t a good guy but when he killed duke, the story became jumbled to me and i really thought the writers bombed big time. Now, they’ll bring Ian back but he will be playing Duke as a ghost? It’s going to be tough for me to take interest here.

Duke was somewhat of a legendary character in GH history, though his origins weren’t really that original, as his story was essentially a rewrite of Luke Spencer, only with a Scottish accent. Club owner doing money laundering for the mob, suddenly drafted by the mob to be more involved in the “family business”, etc. Only in his case the mob wasn’t Frank Smith, but the OG version of the Jerome family. He supposedly died in a warehouse explosion in the early 1990s, but that was shown at the time to be a faked death. He was “disappeared” into witness protection.… Read more »
