Ingo Rademacher Speaks Out On His Dismissal From GH Sharing: “I Was Hoping to Play Jax For Another 10 or 25 Years and Unfortunately, That’s Not Going to Happen”
For the first time since he was fired for not adhering to General Hospital’s and Disney/ABC’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate, Ingo Rademacher (Ex-Jax), addressed his exit from the soap opera via an “official video” message on his Instagram account.
Ingo expressed: “I’m sorry that I didn’t put out this video earlier, but this is about thanking you guys, the fans of the show and also the GH crew and cast. I was on the show for 25 years. They were like my family a lot of the people there. I was hoping to play Jax for another 10 or 25 years and unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. I want to thank you guys for sticking with Jax for 25 years and I’m sorry that I’m not there anymore to play Jax, which is still something that I am trying to process … it’s just kind of crazy.”
Rademacher also took aim at his former co-star, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) for announcing on Twitter that he was no longer on the show, before he had a chance to do so, which he says was a huge disappointment to him given that they worked together for 25 years.
He went on to say how he appreciated all the positive comments from the fans adding, “A lot of you come on there to say that you’re vaccinated but stand for medical freedom, I love hearing that, because I believe it should be a choice.” Ingo continued to express his view, “I don’t agree with vaccine mandates or corporations ever being able to mandate a vaccine to keep your job.”
The actor closed with another nod to the viewers of GH adding, “Thank you so much for supporting me for 25 years. I will have more news later on, but for now, just wanted to thank all of you amazing fans. Thank you.”
You can watch Rademacher’s full statement via his IG post below. Then, let us know what you thought of Ingo’s long-awaited exit message in the comment section.

guys. I really appreciate it.”
You lost your job because apparently getting a vaccine is just so hard to do. Never mind to go to school you have to have vaccinations….It’s not medical freedom he supports but selfishness and not caring if he infects or kills people.
no one should ever have the right to tell you what you have to stick in your body, and he didn’t tell you that you couldn’t take it, he said he wasn’t taking it, that makes you the selfish one for judging him for the choice he made just because it wasn’t the same choice you made
Mary- the other actors on GH have the right NOT to be exposed to potential medical harm by an unvaccinated selfish individual. Ingo made the choice not to be vaccinated. He knew that refusing to be vaccinated would mean loss of employment.
No one should believe he has the right to have a job either. It cuts both ways.
I agree with you Mary – the level of intolerance of those with different views has been incredibly scary. I happen to be someone who chose to get vaccinated but I know that not everyone agrees, nor should they agree, on what they want to put in their bodies. With new variants showing up it is entirely possible that the vaccines aren’t going to help us anyway. I have disliked the name-calling and immature behavior the most. We need a healthy discussion and I can listen to both sides of these arguments and understand them.
It’s not about a different point of view or “listening.” It’s about a company making a decision to have its employees vaxed during a PANDEMIC. Over one million Americans have died from this virus. Highly contagious, getting moreso. He didn’t want to get it, he made a choice. If not taking it was right for him and his family; great. The decision by the company wasn’t something they do every year for every disease known to man. The company acted, as many companies did, with the information they had that indicated it was the best way to keep everyone as safe as possible, along with masks. This “freedom” cry is political. The virus and the vaccine isn’t. He was free to find work in any other entertainment platform that didn’t require it. He made a choice, and then decided to tout the most insane, insulting “theories” on vaccine requirements. Total conspiracy theorist. No respect for him at all.
Thank you Anne and Amanda – 100% agree. All of the other GH actors and behind the scenes crew got vaccinated — why should they be exposed to someone who refuses to do the same? I have friends and family who have have died from Covid — one a 58 year old healthy man who didn’t get vaccinated and paid the ultimate price. As for Ingo, I don’t feel the least bit sorry for him — I wish him the best but don’t want to see him on my screen again.
Do you work at GH? Seem to know alot about it. I suspect some of the GH cast/crew who got vaccinated cannot afford to lose his/her job. Ingo and Steve have probably saved up alot over the years so they’ll be fine. The newer GH cast/crew probably aren’t as fortunate and if they need to do that to keep their job/food on the table, I totally support that. I support those who choose to get vaccinated and those who don’t choose to get vaccinated. I don’t support mandates. I wish Ingo, Steve and the current GH cast and crew the very best.
Just stop. It is it’s his body and his choice. It’s OK when the people who kill babies claim that abortion and killing babies is their body in their choice. But medical freedom a medical autonomy has different rules now?
#FireIngo
Ingo was fired.
Your “logic” doesn’t hold up. Choosing to abort is NOT A PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE. COVID is.
Thank you!!!! Intelligence and non-hypocrisy is always appreciated!
No one said it wasn’t his choice. He said it wasn’t the choice for a business to put rules into their own companies. It goes both ways. He had a right not to take the vaccine, and they had a right to require it to work for their company. But how timely that I’m replying now because the Courts are about to take away a woman’s choice. Is THAT okay? An abortion isn’t contagious; covid is. Smoking should be outlawed in public. If someone wants to smoke their brains out; fine. Get out of my space and away from my lungs. Personal behavior that effects others health IS everyone’s business when someone’s choice can kill or sicken them.
Little harsh
Nobody. Should. Have. To. Lose. Their Job. Over. Such. Nonsense! Horray. For. Ingo. And. Steve. To. Stand. Up. For. Freedom. But. Im. Going. To. Miss. You. Guys. So. Much
Right on, Amanda. Who would have thought that such a gigantic prick would be so afraid of a little prick?
Absolutely gross. He put his co-workers at absolute risk and his attempt to continually mention Nancy Lee Grahn, who simply called out the TRUTH and exposed his ugliness, is gross. Good riddance to his ugliness. Jax’s story was long played out and his presence is neither required nor missed. Not to mention, now his absence is helping bring classic characters back to the canvas. Goodbye and don’t come back.
Agree – as a result of; Jax N Jason
we have Trevor St. John, and , Kristina Wagner
already , change this good , stimulate , intriguing , AND one can hope
IMAGINATION for the WRITERS
it would seem @Carly role is being dismantled… meh FIRING Wes Ramsey, would put an end to one of the worst ever “villians” @GH. CLEAN HOUSE
brad
Jax really didn’t have any sort of story line anyway He was just there. If he is there or not, makes no difference to the show. Sad to see a major character like Jason gone after a strong 30 year career. But, this is his choice and I am sure he will land on his feet. Steve Burton has his own side business.
I’m tired of these morons who refuse to get vaccinated.
Buh bye
Almost every job I’ve had, including temp jobs, has a mandatory drug test. A vaccine mandate is no different. Does Ingo believe that corporations shouldn’t require drug tests? Or is it just the COVID vaccine that he has a problem with?
I agree with Ingo Radamacher. It has to be a personal choice. People who are so certain that there way of thinking is the only way has been a dangerous thing that has been happening. I chose to get vaccinated but I have friends who have made the opposite choice. I have been unhappy with the shrill manner in which the pro-vaccination people have been attacking Ingo and Steve Burton and others. With new variants showing up it is much more important that we take a look at what we are doing as a global community that prevents us from being safe. Calling Ingo a “loser” because he disagrees with you is extremely immature. I simply do not believe in firing actors over their political beliefs, unless those beliefs infringes upon the storytelling (Melissa Reeves refusing to have Jennifer participate in Will and Sonny’s wedding is worthy of being fired imo).
I hope Jax can return to the canvas, either played by Ingo or in a recast. I like that he tells off Carly!!!!
This is not about “personal choice” it is about Public Health. Vaccinations have saved countless numbers of lives and led to a healthier and happier public. People that want to stand on “personal choice” are morphing into the “it’s all about me” instead of the “it’s all about “we”‘ which is what is more accurate. Do I know, for certainty, that the vaccine may not have some adverse effects down the road? No. I also don’t know if the Flu vaccines are 100% safe or that the prescriptions (that have teeny tiny words on warnings and disclaimers) that include every possible horrible side effect listed. I don’t even know what all is in hot dogs that I considered another “food group” when made properly and smothered on a bun with all of their toppings.
Besides a “personal choice” doesn’t quite fit the situation of a “Pandemic” , A personal opinion, quality, or thing belongs or relates to one particular person rather than to other people.
Richard – the only way Jax will return to the canvas is IF Ingo gets fully vaccinated or GH recasts Jax with another actor. The same is true for the return of Jason to the GH canvas. Many people believe Ingo, Steve and other unvaccinated people are selfish and self entitled who have the idea that they are allowed to inflict medical harm onto others.
The global community is busy trying to vaccinate as many people as possible in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and Asia. Fully vaccinated people want to get back to their lives and DEEPLY RESENT the unvaccinated people who are preventing that from happening.
He just keeps showing himself to be selfish. I’m amazed when people aren’t smart enough to just go away quietly when they are clearly on the wrong side of history.
In this world of far left liberalism it’s almost impossible for anyone with a Conservative viewpoint to survive in Hollywood. Vaccines have been responsible for eradicating so many diseases that they do make sense. However, those who have already had the virus have natural immunity, which is apparently more effective than the vaccine. People in this country have been given the right to choose, along with freedom of speech, religion, etc. They have the right to choose what they will, or won’t put in their body, and the bodies of their children. Forcing drugs on someone sounds very much like what goes on in a Communist regime. True, we want to protect the populace, but common sense can do that.
G.Barstow- Common sense says get the vaccinated ASAP. Hospital ICUs are full of NON-VACCINATED patients who suddenly decide too late in the “game” they want the vaccine. In some places necessary surgeries are being cancelled ALL because of the unvaccinated.
I have no patience for Ingo, Steve and all the others who think as they do is.
You’re right I think. Ingo and Steve are conservative. Are there any conservatives at GH who got vaccinated and are still there? I’m not very familiar with that but none come to mind unless it would be Maurice. Tyler was conservative he’s gone (of his own doing unfortunately) Jonathan Jackson is gone and I don’t suspect JJ will ever go back. I cannot think of any others.
Whether they’re conservative or not, Marcus Coloma and Johnny Wactor wisely got the vaccine shortly before the cutoff.
There are about 666 things factually wrong with your post, but a Devil isn’t even going to bother explaining, because unless you hear it from OANN or some other fringey-cringey “news” source, you won’t believe it anyway.
It’s analogous to that event in early Jan 2021 in DC. They were all excited to throw their weight around about what they did not want and what they weren’t going to accept and yadda yadda while ruining their lives in the process. After the tribal euphoria passes and real life hits suddenly it’s an apology tour. Yeah OK.
I don’t want to see him on another soap. He was on B&B already and it was not a good fit.
He won’t be back. OAN is putting together a pilot for a daytime soap opera and they are casting racist, homophobic out-of-work actors. Ingo has already been suggested as one of the show villains. Also being suggested are Tracy Melchior, Chris Engen, Brenda Epperson, Antonio Sabato Jr. and Steve Burton. Patricia Mauceri and Melissa Reeves are battling for the role of show matriarch.
Funny stuff, Apollo! At least, I think you’re joking…
I only wish people would who… smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, diet pop, processed meat,G M O produced food, get other vaccine to travel abroad..could stop and think about all the chemicals and other things they put in their body without questioning it.. makes me wonder why this vacinne upset them.. no judgment whether they don’t want but it.. but wish the comparison would be made.
Your hateful comments toward the LGBTQ community should have gotten you fired anyway!
Don’t need to hear anything else from Ingo. You made your choice, see ya later, hit the bricks, best of luck in your future endeavors!
Children have to take vaccines to attend elementary school, college students have to take vaccines before attending college. Whether it’s polio, measles, mumps, meningitis, hepatitis, and so on, and so forth. It’s been the case for years, and you hardly ever hear a peep about it. You know why that is, because vaccines work. The only reason this COVID vaccine became an issue is the right wing Trump cult members decided to turn it into a political issue. People that think they know better than the doctors and scientists that do this stuff for a living, because they read a post from their nut job aunt on Facebook, or watched a video on YouTube. It’s disgusting. It’s sickening, literally.
Medical freedom. No one should be forced to get the vaccine. He will be fine and go on to biggger and better things. Hopefully CBS daytime or primetime will pick him up.
Ingo was missing 3 very important words at the end of this statement,”I was hoping to play Jax for another 10 or 25 years and unfortunately, that’s not going to happen.” He needed to end that sentence with “because of me.” He knew the rules, and he opted to not care about the other actors he was working with.
Leaving the vaccine aside, his character had become a bore and was just taking up space. His character won’t be missed by me.
I liked Joslyn having a dad, but this role could easily be recast. With regards to Ingo, he seems to be set on encouraging division. I have zero respect for him.
I applaud ABC for requiring vaccinations and following through with firing people who clearly aren’t concerned with the greater good.
Nurses & doctors are a finite resource. They were treated as heros last year, but this year they are working the same long hours taking care of mostly unvaccinated ICU patients. We’ve asked too much of them for far too long. This also affects all of us & the people we love. Unvaccinated people have filled up the hospitals leaving the rest of us without the staff or room to take care of other urgent needs. So people like Ingo, who insist on only looking out for themselves, will never have my admiration or respect.
Good for Ingo & Steve for sticking to their principles in a world where there is sooo much pressure & propaganda to get vaccinated against COVID. If anyone thinks that is easy for them, look at the amount of backlash from some fans (in addition to them losing their jobs). I’m sure it’s safe to say choosing to say “No” is not so easy.
Ingo brings up an interesting point that no one else seems to have responded to. There are folks on GH that have basically been coerced into taking the vaccine due to the mandates…meaning, if the mandates did not exist or they felt they could survive financially without their GH work…they most likely wouldn’t have gotten the vaccine. These are scary times when people have to choose between making money and their own health.
As for putting colleagues at risk because you’re not vaccinated, people need to start doing their own research and using common sense. If everyone else is vaccinated and supposedly protected, then why be so concerned with the handful who are not vaccinated? If someone is healthy otherwise or has already been infected, their natural immunity would protect them. Seems like most people are don’t know the basics of immunology 101.
Its sad that jax is gone. Get the vaccine. Just to be safe. My dad gas medical issues. Love jax he was the best.
#FireIngo….Nothing more needs to be said.
