Is GH Recasting Morgan Corinthos? If So, Who Would You Suggest For The Part?

Soap fans learned just the other week that Daytime Emmy winner, Bryan Craig (Morgan) decided to quit General Hospital to pursue other acting career endeavors.  Thus, leaving a gaping hole in the Corinthos family unit.

There has been speculation that the series will “kill-off” Morgan, but now comes some intriguing casting news via Soap Opera Digest about a casting breakdown that was sent out through Hollywood that sounds like the ABC soap is recasting the role of Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) son!

The casting description notes that the sudser is looking for a “20 to 25 years old, Caucasian male. He is brooding and intense. He is complicated and troubled. Underneath his edge he is a soulful young man trying to figure things out.”

It also notes that the actor who nabs the role would start shooting his episodes at the end of October, which is just over a month away.

So, it’s time for you to put on your casting directors hat, and suggest, which actor known for their work in daytime, or primetime do you think would fit the bill as the new Morgan Corinthos? Who would you like to see GH bring in to jump start the role, if it is indeed a casting breakdown for Morgan?  Share your casting suggestions in the comment section below!

The guy who plays Joey on Days! (So then he would leave Days.)

The actor who played Jack Manning on OLTL…maybe not the greatest actor but i believe he would be good at playing moody and angry Morgan as he was as moody and angry Jack…so, he is another OLTL actor…lol

Oh no, Jim! With all the excellent actors to choose from… Little “Sam” maybe…:)

Oh, Rebecca. I thought Andrew played the recalcitrant, moody, hot-headed -child of the ‘rich and famous’ so excellently. And, he was sooo very young, at the time. He could have only gone forward with his acting skill.
By the same token; if a more mature, ‘seasoned’, young actor is sought, then Karen Clark, below, pointed out Robert Scott Wilson is also an outstanding actor. I don’t think you watch Days, but if you did, you would agree, I’m that confident. LOL.

Ummmmmm…let me not say other than I just don’t see Andrew in the role. But, he’s good-looking.

Looked up your other actor. Cute…but not familiar with his acting; I’ll take your word for it. I still like Nic Robuck or Robert Gorrie. They’re going to be big shoes to fill because you know I think Bryan is great in the role.

Speaking of acting chops, I think Ryan Paevy has come a long way. And…just when I thought he couldn’t get any better looking…wow…he’s just exquisite!

Oh, I will not dispute or refute your take on Ryan P. I said this before….but, he looks so much like Guy Williams– the 50’s ZORRO. Soooo hot!! I know he’s before our time; but my grandparents have a caravan of all these wonderful ‘old’ shows. THE HONEYMOONERS is another of my favorites. Hilarious.
Robert Scott Wilson is sure to win the Emmy.( I hope–he deserves it) . His character, Ben, is in jail, right now. LOL. He was the best bad, bad boy, killer, I had seen on a soap in a long, long time.

Oh, I forgot to mention, Rebecca, that Robert S Wilson also acted the role of Petey Cortlandt on AMC.

No more OLTL people!

I’d give Andrew Trishitta(Jack) a chance he seemed to get better as he went along and was pretty good in the online OLTL.

But i want the whole casts of all the soaps i used to watch on GH but that means thousands and the show already has that many…just kidding me friend-lol

Please no more moody and angry anyone.

Then i would have to leave this sight-lol

Jimh…But Jimh, most of your comment contradict “then I would have to leave, etc.” They are usually humorous and filled with “outside the box,” good ideas or predictions.

Yes jack manning from oltl would be great

N-O O-N-E!!!!!!!!!! N-e-x-t……….

Do not recast. I prefer there being a gaping hole in the Corinthos family unit. Every other family has been gutted. It’s time for this one to recede rather than expand.

Here, here! I appreciated Craig in the bipolar storyline. But, I really don’t want that to be a running theme in the soap. Every time I see the character of Morgan now, all I can think of is the condition. Even over the character. Ava is messing with his meds & all of his decisions are suspect. So, once again, it’s all about the condition and how he’s not to be held responsible by viewers for what he’s doing. It’s exhausting as a viewer to continue to excuse him. Just let the character leave for a while – like a couple of years.

I’m glad you’re optimistic that GH will still be on in a couple of years!

Bring him back as soon as possible I hate to see Cary and Sony apart. The whole family is sad everyone is blaming themselves and mad at sonny

the old thomas from bold and the beautiful!

No matter who nabs that role, I will gladly welcome him over that immature Bryan Craig anyday. I wish him peace, hope he finds what he’s looking for, but I’m glad he’s leaving GH. C’est la vie!

Mais, oui, Monsieur.

Drew Garrett who formally played Michael in his teen years…

Max Ehrich from Y&R formally played Fenn

I agree. Max is really good and really HOT.

Maybe, just maybe, I could have the temerity to suggest that he doesn’t NEED replacing???

Maybe and if they cannot get Gary Busey than they ought not to recast at all!
Gary Busey could make this work!!!

Love it, Harry!

I would suggest Freddie Smith but I think he is back at Days now.

Try to get Casey Moss away from DAYS. He’s very promising, sympathetic, and extremely handsome. Not as intense as Bryan but we can work on that.

Yes, Soaphound. I can see Casey acting as Morgan. He is a very versitile actor. Look how well he went from a self-destructive character to a respected cop.
I would think that Morgan will ‘go away’ to some kind of facility where he will get help and then return ‘brand new’…..literally. LOL.

#BrandonBuddy aka Cole Thornhart from OLTL to play the role of Morgan Corinthos

Good choice!

Sounds good to me, but it would be weird since I’ve known him to be Cole. Stars man. I wonder how he’s doing theses days. Since I quit Twitter I wouldn’t know. I used to follow him.

Agree!

Cole would work as Morgan too

The character really isn’t necessary at this point. There’s plenty of Corinthoses to go around.

Haley Erin shines with RPW’s Dillon. Let this blossom.

Any young Wahlberg’s out there?

I think I got the perfect candidate—how about Jake Silbermann who played Noah on ATWT? There would be the same look and if he can play a young gay man like he did on ATWT, he can definitely pull off playing a young man who is bipolar.

Thanks for remembering Jake, James. He was wonderful and easy to like. Not sure if he can still play early 20s, but I’d be willing to try it.

Eric Nelsen from All My Children reboot…

The guy who played Jack Manning on OLTL comes to mind. Not a lot of guys that age with soap experience so probably someone new-ish will get the role.

I feel Kristos Andrews from The Bay would be
perfect!! His acting is amazing (also he won an Daytime Emmy for best actor
In a independent drama web series) and he fits the description to play
Morgan!!

New Morgan – Robert Scott Wilson !!!!

Austin Falk, Spencer Neville

He may be a bit too old but Tom Pelphrey would knock this out of the park.

Oh, dare to dream, M M. He would singlehandedly resuscitate GH!

I believe there was talk of getting Tom Pelphrey to play Dante back when that role was created. I’d like to see Tom come on GH as a bi-sexual, roguish doctor who sleeps his way through town, even bedding brother and sister Lucas and Sam. It’s never been done before and Tom could sell it!

isn’t morgan suppose to be half caucasian and half latino? or is sonny now anglo? just asking, since the casting is only limited to white actors.

I thought “Corinthos” was a Greek name. The actor has Latino roots. But, I never saw Sonny as a Latino (or Hispanic) character. Just a NY mobster.

Sonny (and Ric, too, for that matter…) is described as half-Cuban courtesy of his mother, Adela and one-quarter each Greek and Irish, from his father, Mike Corbin (aka, “Corinthos?”) Oh, and Ric’s father, Trevor Lansing, was also Caucasian, although I don’t know if his ethnic background was ever specified. I think he was supposed to a blueblood????

Andrew Trischitta . ( Jack Manning. OLTL).

Jim’s suggested that. I think he needs much more acting chops…

This one is easy. Robert Scott Wilson should be a lock for Morgan Corinthos. He played Ben on Days and is a fabulous actor!

Yessss! Good one, Karen.

Oh, Celia….Robert on GH the same time as Billy Miller? I’ll need to find a pill to keep me from Fainting! But I’ll deal.

@Soaphound.
I know, right!!?? I have three sisters, Soaphound. All four of us are in love with Robert S Wilson ( hot, hot, hot) and Billy Miller. Oh, I forgot my grandmother. LOL.

There is only one name right now that stands out…. Someone young, fresh, intense and of course good looking- Kristos Andrews. Most known for his role on THE BAY. I’m definitely a fan of his and even to see how he has grown as an actor just on that role alone! I don’t constantly watch GH BUT if Kristos was an added cast member, I would!!!

Would nice to see maybe Nick Stabile who played Nick for a while. Nick is such a good looking guy. Wouldn’t mind looking at him as morgan. It would make so much more sense then trying to bring a dead person back like they have been doing .

Nick Stabile cannot play Morgan. Too old.

Age doesn’t matter anymore. I recall when Spencer was born. Courtney died and Carly was helping take care of Spencer long before she married Jax and had Jocelyn. Now, Jocelyn is considerably older than Spencer. They can rewrite soaps and make Morgan older than Michael! Reminds me of Joey Martin on AMC. He was 8 years old one day, came back 6 months later from college and in his 20s.

Nick Stabile is in 45. Yes, they’ve played with age…Bryan Craig is 24…LOL..I think this is a tad out of the realm of possibility.

@Joe.
I agree that age does not matter, in many cases. I have said so many times, myself…..the age discrepancy is often so ridiculous.
But, in this instance, I honestly feel that Nick Stabile is all wrong. He looks older than Carly….she has a youthful appearance, as it is. I just can’t see Nick, as Morgan, call Carly; ” Mom”. What about Sonny? With Maurice’s sense of humor….I can just imagine his reaction…..The picture just doesn’t compute, in my head. LOL.
However, I am in no position to naysay anything anyone says….c’est tres possible!!

#AndrewTrischitta aka Jack Manning from OLTL to play the role of Morgan Corinthos

I think killing Morgan is a bit much, but recommitting him to mental hospital far away is better. The knowledge that Ava changed Morgan’s meds is just the PUSH Sonny needs to destroy the Jerome family.

Morgan as a character and GH is ripe and ready to pull off a suicide storyline. There are so many intriguing storylines that would result from it:

1) Ava’s guilt over messing with Morgan’s prescription and possible ramifications if she is caught;
2) Carly’s guilt for not doing something when she knew something was wrong;
3) Kiki wondering if it had to do with their fighting;
4) Sonny dealing with the guilt of passing his disorder on to Morgan and losing his only biological son.

Suicide is the #2 killer of youth. Soap operas need to up their story telling and this is a way to do it.

Yes, Justice. It would make sense, due to his disorder. However, I do not like this type of send-off. It has no positive message for the youths who are afflicted with this disorder. The message should be one of hope….not despair!!!! My opinion only.

Great idea about the suicide angle! But, I have to agree with Celia because it wouldn’t really be about mental health because of Ava’s involvement. Morgan was taking his meds correctly and was on a better path. If suicide is going to be part of a storyline, it should be with a character who is NOT taking an active role in his/her mental health, and who is completely avoiding his situation, to show the downfalls of doing so. I don’t want other characters beating themselves up over something that they had no control over.

GH has 2 good psychiatrist/psychologist characters right now. So, it seems like a good time to address the issue. But, the character isn’t in the right place to do it IMO. If Morgan commits suicide now, it all becomes about getting revenge on Ava & the Jeromes, & not about the difficulty of dealing with a family member who doesn’t want to deal with their mental illness (or how some conditions still can’t be entirely addressed with drugs).

Justice…I hear were you are coming from but would far rather see steps to wellness than your solution. Especially after having seen the gruesome ending to Sabrina. But at least they followed up with all of the positive things she had brought into people’s lives. Would way rather everyone connect the dots with Morgan’s latest behaviours and grab him again before he self destructs. I think this would be far more positive than what you suggested. After all in his case this latest has been a matter of chemistry and deceit at the hands of Ava and not some of the unfortunate social issues that are plaguing teenagers or anyone else finally succumbing to despair. Show steps to the light and not the dark.

As for what happens to Morgan because Bryan is leaving, let him go for an extended rest to Sonny’s island.

The thing that’s going to frustrate me IF they go the route I’m suspecting is that no one is going to realize Ava switched Morhan’s melds until he’s lost it completely and probably sent back to the hospital. Uggggggg…that is going to be really hard to watch…and infuriate me. (LOL, but I do love Maura/Ava so once again..will they find out she did it…isn’t that a jailable offense? Sonny now has two reasons to kill her!)

No contest, Max Ehrich who played Fenn on Y&R. He was great in “Under the Doom” and would be great with Maurice.

Yes!!

It appears to me that the way Morgan and Sonny are reacting to Julian being free and taunting them, Julian will end up dead and Morgan will take the fall and go off screen to prison. No recast. Just a gut feeling.

I second, third, and fourth that, Timmm.

He could handle the task, for sure.

Chandler Massey possibly?

OMG!!!! Yeeessss!!!!!! Chandler. Love him. Miss him!!!!

Robert Scott Wilson who played Ben on DOOL would be great. The character of Ben started out a bit flat but Wilson really had a chance to show what he could do in that role.

I think it’s a bad idea to kill off Morgan, and recasting him doesn’t feel right either. I think they should take the character off the canvas for a while (along with Kiki) and send him to school or something. Have him return in a year or somewhere down the line if Craig chooses to return, or consider a recast at that time. Not now. GH is already too cluttered with characters so taking Morgan off the show would do it a favor.

I really do not care who..
I am still waiting for the Snooze Queens to do something meaningful with;

JVP/Joe …. He is so wasted / and a great talent .

James Patrick/Valentin … He is wasted a great character and actor.

Why don’t they do something meaningful with the great ‘characters’ and talent that they waste , huh .

(( J&S simply do not have the know-how, imagination, talent to write for Valentin and Joe so they let them fade away.

Whomever replaces Morgan may well be again a full blown bipolar with nothing else to play or be/become than the horrible bipolar role Bryan walkout of.

Yes, again, su0000, JVP/Joe–“so wasted . . . great talent.”

Right on, SuzieQ!!!! Very well said.
But, let’s hope that nuMorgan will be written in a positive way…..one of compliance and recovery.
Otherwise, what would be the point? We have seen what the disorder can do to a body. We have seen what dastardly deeds Ava and Company can do….Now, let’s see the light!!

He has been on his meds CeeCee. They have done justice to his story…fear, denial, anger, resistance, acceptance, hope and dealing…until Ava.

CeeCee…I also posted this to you a while back but not sure if you saw it. Unfortunately (though not sure if the current writers know this history and purposely created a similarity), AJ was an alcoholic. He too was doing well…getting his life back together. Until Carly. She drugged him and left him passed out, but not before pouring alcohol on him so people would think he had relapsed. Ava’s now doing the same to Morgan. Payback’s a bitch. Unfortunately Morgan’s paying the price.

@Rebecca.
Hey, Rebecca.
I have not been getting any replies in my inbox for a couple of days. I hope the same thing that happened to me before isn’t happening again. I had to change my email address….
But, I do read all the comments, and that’s how find any of the replies to me, personally.
Yes, I do remember you telling me Carly’s, Sonny’s, Michael’s and AJ’s history.
The gall of Sonny and Carly stepping foot into the Quartermaine mansion. I don’t know…it’s a soap, yeah; but, really??
I suppose karma definitely and insidiously found its way within the Corinthos’s ‘establishment’. Moral of the story…. Don’t mess with the cosmos—- the well-ordered universe.
Ava’s machinations are something to behold, are they not? Pathetic. But, I love Maura. She is incredibly the total package.
Ava is a panther. Sleek and smooth with a gorgeous smile hiding some pretty venomous fangs. Ready to pounce on some hapless guy!!
What’s that Santana song? Oh, yeah..BLACK MAGIC WOMAN.

Recasting Morgan Corinthos is a great idea. We don’t need another death on GH.

I hope it’s Paul Jr instead of Morgan. Give the character a break. Dillon could use a brother on the show and Paul needs his other son with all his trouble he is in!

Robert Gorrie (OLTL)

Great choice!!

Yes, I think that’s a great choice too as well as Nic Robuck (James Ford OLTL) which I suggested further down.

Max Ehrich (Fen Baldwin) from Young&Restless would be perfect. This talented young actor fits the casting description (and then some)!

Robert Scott Wilson formerly Ben on Days

you mean laura wright is leaving also. hope not, i cant think of anybody who can replace bryan.

Laura Wright is not leaving; she re-negotiated her deal a few years back.

I hadn’t heard about Laura Wright leaving?

What purpose would it serve? The Morgan character is boring. One less Corinthos on the show is moving in the right direction.

Andrew Trischetta would be my choice. He worked with Frank Valenti on OLTL. He played a similar role and was excellent.

Can’t we just leave Morgan off the canvas? I’m cool with one less Corinthos down my throat for awhile! Hey, let’s find out what Brad & Lucas are up too!!!!

Nic Robuck (James Ford OLTL).

I miss the days of Gloria Monty. She never re-casted a role (other than when she first took over the show).

It would not hurt to let this character go. Explore Dillon and Kiki. We’ve had enough of the Corinthos Family being front and center.

Bring back the Webber’s and add more Quartermaine’s.

I’m with you!

The character should be off canvas for the foreseeable future. (is there still a foreseeable future for GH?)

I say write the role of Morgan out of General Hospital for a period of 6-8 months while he undergoes severe treatment for his bipolar disorder, and then should Bryan Craig still not want to return to the soap, recast him with Robert Gorrie (ex-Matthew, OLTL).

There is no “severe treatment” for bipolar. He’d be fine if Ava hadn’t switched his meds.

Good God, I hope they do not recast this character. Let him go off to school or get a real job, and lets just move on. The character was awful.

GARY BUSEY!

I think a recast would be a good idea. I could see former Y&R star Kevin Schmidt breaking out in the role. I actually think the actor who just wrapped up as Chase on Days would be really good.. though maybe he looks a little young.

just like, Bryan Craig… stole the thunder and show… from all those characters associated with the Corinthos Clan

so would… Kevin Schmidt

GH needs to keep that going… just lose the BP… with all due respect

Kevin would bring a more controlled performance… mature a little bit

both men… respectfully… sexy

i’m thrilled at all the response… given; Robert Scott Wilson ( ex-Ben, DAYS )

Robert ++++++ . I would welcome him as Morgan in any way, shape or form, Patrick!!!!! That face! That body! My senses are a’reel….

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

on

By

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.
