‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.

Glad he’s leaving and going to the Bold and Beautiful.
Happy & anxious to see what will happen with Brooke Logan & Bill! This should be great!
It’s sad to see the character die….thought AJ would be around for a while! But I Wii still you because I watch The Bold & The Beautiful!! GH will miss you!
I truley think they want (abc) the GH time slot for something else and they are trying to run it into the ground on purpose.
It will be a sad day if they ever cancel GH. I just love this Soap and if it was a different time slot I’m sure it will be #1. The drama, the story lines and the acting is far superior to any other.
I have watched this show off and on since it was in black and white. I was just getting to like AJ again. this is wrong.
I don’t watch B & B, but I wish Sean lots of luck. I am very sad that he left GH and extremely disappointed at the missed opportunity for story line. I wanted to see AJ redeemed. I agree with Sean about the stories he was given. I love Ron and GH but I totally understand Sean’s frustration. He is the only AJ for me. I hope the role is never recast. I was so excited when they brought AJ back from the dead. Once he was back, it seemed he was just used to further other storylines and his was just put on the back burner. I am glad he and Michael got to develop some type of relationship. I hope AJ finds out for sure that he didn’t kill Connie before Sean’s last airdate. I hope they just leave AJ alone and don’t re-cast. They should have used Sean while they had him. He is brilliant and did a wonderful day with the material he was given. I’d like to know what they had planned for AJ if Sean had stayed. Would they ever gotten around to giving him a good story? We will probably never know.
He did really have some crappy storylines! I was really rooting for the A.J. character and the rebuilding of the Quartermaine clan. Sad, it’s ending this way. I liked the relationship that was developing between A.J. and Michael…
I dont watch bb either and totally agree with you.
well said Cynthia : and fans of
Sean Kanan IS brilliant
his acting choices : are fun to watch…. one can’t help but root FOR him
he was this loveable hunk/teddy bear… was so expressive in his body language… and endearing…. his take on facial expression… tugged at your heart… you cared about him
what i’ll miss the most… is his scenes with Michael… which made Michael bearable…. ugh! now it’s back to kiki and michael… isn’t she the busy body again.
I suppose TPTB thought they could do more with Rick Lansing… and threw AJ to the curb…
another talented… intelligent actor… gone by the wayside
think:
Kelly Sullivan : Connie
Scrubs fans: Robin and Patrick
Sean Kanan : AJ
this was quality material to reap… and it just didn’t pan out… go figure
I hope his new adventure at B&B is contract : he deserves it
He will be missed,,,,great actor..very sad to see him go….getting tired
of my favs going!! Why write them in the first place, like Robin coming back only to leave….AJ great story with his son Michael.. Ron needs to get opinions from viewers!!! Good luck Sean…
Couldn’t they just recast him?
He does know that he didn’t kill Connie. Ava confessed which is why he was choking her when Sonny came in and shot him.
Thank you. I forgot that he knows for sure that he didn’t shoot Connie. I’m glad about that.
I think AJ got sacrificed on the altar that is Robin. Once RC knew he could get KM for a short stint he dropped a lot stories he had in his head to focus on hers. They might have gotten around to AJ again at some point but SK didn’t want to sit around waiting for what may never happen and who could blame him.
As for your comment about AJ learning the truth about Connie before SK leaves– the character already knows he didn’t shoot Connie but Ava did. Yet, whether everyone else will find out before the character leaves the canvas– I doubt it. Ava is too wound up in too many stories right now for the character to be put away for Connie’s murder or be dealt with by Sonny.
This is just a guess but I think Ava and Sonny will eventually hook up and Sonny will fall in love with her- then find out Ava was the one who killed Connie– it would be interesting to see that conflict of knowing the woman he loves killed the other woman he loved. But RC rarely writes stories the way one would expect so who knows everything might come out in May sweeps.
I totally agree that AJ got sacrificed for the Robin storyline. I would have much preferred Robin stayed kidnapped. The show revolved around her when she was gone. Then she came back for a few months and screwed everything up just to leave again pushing AJ to the back burner for months. They threw him in jail and forgot about him. I love GH, but very disappointed with this.
I don’t agree that Robin’s storyline had anything to do with the terrible writing which was afforded to the AJ character. And if it did had something to do with it, what does that tell you about Ron’s ability as an actor that he can’t multitask and juggle two storylines? Robin’s storyline had nothing to do with how this turned out as her return wasn’t even a bleep on the radar screen when AJ was in those idiotic Pickle Lila Relish scenes on The Chew. Your rationale just doesn’t jive with reality.
@harry– I will give you the Pickle Relish fiasco — that was just plain lame writing– RC could have penned a truly compelling corporate take over story with family members fighting over Edward’s estate. But I do believe RC is only capable of focusing on one major story line at a time, and since AJ was in jail for Connie’s murder it was easier to leave him there then actually write the story of the trail etc, while it was still fresh. I think all those months waiting for RC to get back to him made SK want to leave– I wasn’t personally blaming Robin or KM returning, but if that character wasn’t available it would have force RC to concentrate on the characters he had, like AJ.
Yep. Ava is the poster child for what is wrong with GH – all the beloved long-time characters are either back burnered or used to prop her own story and no one cares about her.
Cynthis: AJ knew that he did not shoot Connie. And he knew who did. That is why he was at Ava’s apartment. Sonny just should have listened to AJ before he shot him. I agree though AJ was not given story decent story lines.
When we say we do not care for an actor or story line, I think often what we do not care for is the writing. I wish SK well in his next venture.
Thank you for the info about the Connie shooting. They went round and round so long with it, I forgot that he finally found out for sure.
I agree with you Elizabeth ava needs to go asap she is in everstoryline so way or the other, I am so sick of her and the way she pushed sonny to shoot
aj I cannot understand that at all
I 2nd what you said Cynthia – He was the FIRST AJ and was never given the chance to redeem that character – a sad day in GH history for sure and I’ve been watching since 1974. – Just pitiful to watch what they have done to this show. Good Luck to you Sean!!! – CBS knows quality!
I still love the show, but I never want another AJ. If we can’t have Sean then we don’t need AJ.
Good luck to him..I am happy that this talented actor will get a chance to perform and get great stories over at B&B
Is it me or am I being a rude but the actor that plays Nathan is HORRIBLE, but good in the eyes, lol! What a BAD ACTOR…Yet good actors are put in the back burner and they leave because of lack of story.
I don’t think you are being rude. I think Nathan the cop is a horrible actor. I’m glad Sean is going back to the B&B.
I am really hoping the actor who plays Nathan will get better along with that boring story. I love Silas and Donna Mills.
You’re not being rude. The “actor” playing Nathan is an underwear model, literally. But this is what GH has turned into. Sean is a wonderful actor. I watched some clips of Deacon on YouTube and he is nothing like AJ. Sean has such range and natural ability and is able to transform a role and build a character.
But we lose a real talent like Sean Kanan so TPTB can put Roger Howarth front and center. A guy who plays every character the same exact way with the same twitches, ticks, stuttering and physical mannerisms. GH has lost a great actor in SK and an important legacy character for an agenda that I am unable to comprehend.
I read somewhere that Roger Howarth was out too and that they were writing his character off the show.
I agree with you GH50 ( except with the RH part – not his fault they cancelled OLTL) ……less money brings in inexperienced actors and we get subjected to really BAD acting skills and lousy stories. The true stars of the shows ( they keep us watching) > want to get paid their worth and act great stories as well. Does ABC care?….NO – ABC as learned well over the years how to cheat ( the viewers and their staff included ) and they’re only getting better at it and profiting while we suffer. But as part of the audience but I just grab the remote and let the ratings speak for me.
Roger Howarth is incredible and a wonderful actor. I love watching good acting no matter who the character is. I hope the guy who plays Nathan improves.
Sand, I don’t understand your point tha it’s not Roger Howarth’s fault that they cancelled OLTL. Does that mean you agree that he has no range and can only play Todd Manning, no matter what the role?
I did not WANT to go there GH50, but you are SO riggght! I love Roger’s Todd, but its so apparent that he is limited and not the best actor..Seeing him as Franco its like seeing him Todd. GH is really struggling now and going nowhere.
Well, rest assured he won’t get “great stories” over at B&B, although he’ll undoubtedly get more to do as an actor and be featured more prominently (until Brad Bell decides to “go in a different direction”).
Can’t blame him for checking out of GH, however, much as I’ll miss him there. What a wasted opportunity; there were many interesting possibilities (especially as a perennial source of irritation and discomfort for Sonny, who gets away with far too much and with very few consequences given how appallingly he behaves, and I also though AJ and Liz were interesting together until the writers inexplicably took him down the Carly path), and yet they chose all of the boring (to say the least) ReFranco stuff over doing much of anything with AJ. I’ll never understand it (except to say that Howarth does have an extremely devoted fan base who will watch him in absolutely anything and believe he’s great).
And Sonny wins again, of course. For a while I thought that was changing under Carlivati and Valentini, but I see now that it isn’t. Too bad; it makes the show really predictable and really uninteresting (to me, at least).
While I do not care for Carlivati and Valentini in the least, (IMO it is their mission to run GH into the ground ) I feel I must say that Sonny can never lose as he is one of the main charecters. IF he lost they would have to send him to jail and then the charecter would be done. And as he can not ever lose is why he must have redeeming qualties.
he IS a bad actor and sorry but when he and Donna Mills are in a scene together, it’s torture!! Still trying to give Donna the benefit of the doubt because I did enjoy her on KL, but her stiff speech and acting and those glossy lips are making it hard for me to enjoy her in this role.
This whole story should be scraped IMHO … and does Samantha really want to hear how wonderful Silas’ dead wife was? I know I wouldn’t want to – daily.
Robocop is so bad that he keeps having to take off his shirt to distract us from his lack of acting ability.
Good Luck Sean…Will miss you on GH.
Sad that he is leaving but I don’t blame him. Might as well go to a show that appreciates him,, because RC sure didn’t . Treatment and writing of SK and RC tweets was he last straw, thanks RC for your awful writing and making me hate a show I loved
I will never hate GH no matter what and it is so much better than it was a few years ago before Frank and Ron took over. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some things that I would change. The AJ thing is a big one but it is too late now anyway. Sean has filmed his last episode and moved on. So very sad.
Bittersweet? I’m seriously bummed! Not only did A.J. make the show more interesting, it just kills me when these actors get such dream roles that I’d give my left fingernail for, then leave the show after they become so integral to it. What ever happened to cause the withdrawal of A.J. I am severely saddened and the show is yet again faltering. IMHO.
LOL.
Gavel
“… I’d give my left fingernail for”
there was so many avenues for AJ left on the canvas
Agreed. 🙂
ABC is stupid for loosing a Quartermaine. This family is the foundation of GH. But then again, this is the same network who killed OLTL.
I wish Sean the best and will follow him to B&B and look forward to his return. I said it before and I’ll say it again, this was a BIG BALL DROPPED by RC. Not Frank, I respect him as the producer of that show and has proven himself to make sound decisions. But RC purposely let the character of AJ come to this point.
Remember in October 2012 when AJ was RC’s shiny new toy? Oh how quickly we forget. He purported to write him into a wall that he was obviously going to write him out of, but…..he dropped the ball.
Would’ve been happier with the exit if the character AJ had gotten a good shake this time around by having him Save Jason’s life and those too working it out and forgiving each other, even if CBS allowed SB back for just one day to tape scenes, and then allowing the character of AJ to grow and mature at that stage to the Quatermaine family head we know RC intended him to be and leave PC for London to lead ELQ there. But unfortunately, I’ve known RC’s work for years now, and AJ’s exit will be in bad taste.
Personally I Never liked him.
I’m not heartbroken either. Is it just me or did he yell his lines? Michael does the same thing with this fast talking and it’s annoying to listen to.
I agree aj was not my favorite character at all on GH maybe he will do better onB&B
I hope they don’t kill A.J. off either. I liked seeing Michael and A.J. having a father and son relationship.
Me too
This didn’t have to happen, but Sean had to escape the hack writing of Ron Carlivati somehow.
I’ve stated before how pissed and disappointed I am that Sean Kanan is leaving…not sure if they’ve killed him off because I’m behind two shows. IF he’s still in the Port Charles universe…and unfortunately recast him…I hope at least the character…AJ…gets some justice. Even on the episode I’m watching today Carly’s bad-mouthing him…as he lies on his death bed…please!!! They had a love/hate thing this time around…there was an attraction…but yet they had Cartini had to get in the last zinger and repeat what a loser “AJ” is in her eyes. Ridiculous.
So sorry to have lost Sean in this role…
Sorry to see you go, but unfortunately the writers didn’t give you much to work with. Wishing you much happiness in your next chapter.
Good Luck on your new adventure in life Sean. I wish you the very best!
The character was so hated by every other character and constantly put down it was hard to get behind him. GH writers could have done much more with him. There was very little joy
Sorry to see him leave! But bold and beautiful is a great show!!,holds the number 2 spot in the ratings for like forever!! Good luck.. Until we meet again!!
Sean wanted to leave and he called Bell at B&B and asked to go back to B&B, his choice his life..
I’m happy he is happy ..
the best for him..
The AJ character is a mess always has been always will be,
that is what and who AJ Quartermaine is..
RC wrote him true to character..
I don’t know why people keep saying that…or why they buy into that instead of just feeling frustrated. I don’t see how AJ was “a mess.” He had a drinking problem that he struggled with. OTHER people made him into a mess. They “messed” with him…put him down at every turn…disparaged him. I always found it maddening. You had every lowlife on the show criticizing AJ. Ridiculous. He was a good son, wanted to be a good father and was the victim of Carly, Sonny and Jason’s taking his son away from him…he became a great, loving father when Michael gave him a chance…he was honest and upfront with Duke when he came to work with him…he was appreciative of Alice who defended him…same with Skye. I LOVED this character and hate how they once again degraded his character. Horrendous understanding of human dynamics from the writers who are supposed to, if nothing else, portray human emotions/bonds, etc.
Totally agree with you, Rebecca1!…I am just sickened and dismayed that one of the few class acts left on GH is departing. The only thing that turned AJ into what some perceived as a so-called “mess” was the sub par writing, not to mention the total lack of imagination and suitable direction for his character t the hands of Ron C….as long as there was a concerted effort to showcase Sean’s talent and allow his role to shine in the scheme of what was happening in Port Charles, he did just fine. I thoroughly enjoyed his portrayal and rooted for him all the way. When the decision to put him on the backburner in favor of Sonny, Franco, the Jeromes, et al and suddenly become the scapegoat for Ava the Retroglam Psychopath’s evil activities, it became apparent that yet another beloved legacy character was well on his path to being trashed and ultimately destroyed…my only hope is that our friend AJ is not cruelly killed off but put into some sort of classic soap limbo so that perhaps when a future voice of reason starts penning the storylines, we can witness a triumphant return of this most underused and abused Quartermaine. Fondest farewells and best wishes to Sean K….he will be greatly missed!!!!!!
And I with you Shay…petty of Ron…should’ve taken fan reaction when most asked why AJ suddenly was off canvas after having been so integral to the SL…should have heard a lot of the fans rooting for AJ to come out on top this time. Sean’s opinion of his character was spot on…and instead of respecting his opinion and taking it under consideration, he went in the opposite direction. Huge disappointment all around, Even IF they have him live and eventually recast…I loved Kanan in the role.
What Rebecca said. AJ could have been a contender, and Ron treated him like a bum. It was you, Charlie, er I mean, Ron.
I really wish they’d stop killing off the Q’s. Though their storyline’s aren’t front burner material , they are the heart of the show & very entertaining to watch.
No, Im not a fan. Never liked the character of A.J. he never learned and grew. Dont like the character of Deacon Sharp either, same thing both sleazy. He never stays long on any show anyway.
I was never a fan either. I’m glad he is off GH. He was never a father to Michael and then he comes back with his sleezy way of getting back into Michaels life. Sonny is the only father he ever had. aj didn’t even know how to be a father years ago and still doesn’t. He can take his mom with him too. What has happened to her. She looks horrible.
Sonny saw to it that AJ never had a chance to be a father to Michael, Sonny and Guza. Alcoholism is not a choice. Sean had everyone watching rooting for him. Chad and Sean were great on screen together. RC and his little digs, and his scummy writing is slowly destroying the show again. Guza made me just do it,. Turn the show off and FrankenRon are doing the same. Its a shame I have gone from watching in real time commercials and all to only watching after reading the boards to see if there is any reason to watch. I just deleted a few weeks in one and barley watching any of it. As for Roget H over Sean K. I shut ATWTs off when the actor came on there. Someone said up thread his scene chewing ,jokes and faces .WHO NEEDS IT ? Maybe ABC is trying to get out of the soap business.
Dori Weller…WHAT?! He was never a father to Michael??? Are you kidding? Carly, Jason and Sonny STOLE Michael from him. “AJ” tried everything to get his son back and went so far as to kidnap him! And exactly what was sleazy about him? He came back…he was a loving son to Monica, an appreciative boss/friend to Alice, tried sooooo hard to be with Elizabeth, and was AMAZING with Michael. Their scenes together were a long time in the making…those of us who always felt the injustice hurled at “AJ” finally got to see him have moments alone with his son…to finally be able to explain to him how he didn’t leave him, always wanted him…how he was kidnapped and hung up on a meat hook by Sonny, etc…”Sonny was the only father Michael ever had?” That’s because Sonny stole him from AJ and threatened him and prevented him from ever being in his own son’s life. I don’t understand any viewer who didn’t get just how unfairly and ridiculously AJ was treated and how ridiculous to keep the writing going with AJ never being on top. His few loyal friends and family…Monica and Skye…and ultimately Michael…are the ones that were written with wisdom. The others? A mob boss, a mob enforcer, a mob wife…they’re the ones who criticized AJ…and THEY were better? Not.
Sean’s depiction of a man wrongly persecuted and always belittled was amazing. He was constantly knocked down and always tried to strive ahead. I loved this character…and Sean was brilliant.
I agree with you 100%
I hope they don’t kill AJ. I hope someday he returns sober and mature. The. Writer did an awful job with the character. Nothing noteworthy happened . I’m not a big AJ fan, but since they brought him back from the dead they might as well have given him a decent storyline. Poor Monica and Michael. I hope AJ leaves town and goes to some where like Betty ford.
I agree.
I liked him a lot on GH I think the return was handled badly but their loss is B&B’s gain! And not a moment too soon I am so bored with that show right now.
I will miss the character of Aj, it wasn’t fair what they did to his character, He came back with so much promise and storyline to tell and show us all, and promises weren’t kept By FV and RC. Glad that SK has a job at B&B. It’s just sad that another Quartermaine is being killed off the show..Just not right. I keep hoping that at the last minute that Aj will survive and be in a coma and sent to where He’s being taken care of, until they are ready to wake up Aj and bring him Home, maybe he could go to Robin where she is taking care of Jason, and do miracles on both brothers.. They could come back together.. Anything is possible on a Soap. Why kill off a Q…again.
.
RC/writers are not killing off AJ, he may have amnesia or long coma..
Nobody said AJ would die..
It was SK’s decision to leave he is killing off himself, so to say. lol
And AJ was written true to his character..
A drunk, hot head, betrayer, game player wanting power etc..
AJ is not a saint , not a nice person he is a smi-bad guy..
That is his character..
He is a flawed character who was in the process of redeeming himself . His story arc of redemption was interrupted rudely by very bad and disjointed writing.
He is not a “semi bad” guy. That is Sonny, and Julian and Sean, and Ava and Faux Luke, and that hideous Dr O person.
There are far too many bad guys on GH and the good guys are dying off.
I agree.
If Aj dies, I would like to see Him and Connie join forces and come back as ghosts and Haunt both Sonny and Ava for killing them… That would be a great story. Drive the two of them insane…
AJ will be missed :'(
He should have been brought back as Jason. AJ’s character was always a screw-up. Good riddance – Michael is better off without him in his life. I look forward to seeing him as Deacon on B&B. Now they should recast Jason.
Looking forward to Maxie’s return. I see a great couple possibility with Maxie and Nathan! Loving Nathan’s character.
Now if they can kill off Kiki, Silas and new Franco and put Ava in jail for triple murder…even though the actress that plays Ava is awesome. Britch can join her in jail.
I totally agree. The resemblance to the character of jason morgan is uncanny
Having Sean come back as Jason is truly an idiotic idea which is why I am surprised Ron didn’t think of it.
I am sorry to see him go and I think he has been classy throughout while still speaking his mind (and in my opinion the truth). I like Ron C but he seems a little defensive when people disagree with him. Anyway, AJ will be missed and once again, the Q house becomes a little more empty and quiet.
I will miss Sean very much. I was hoping that a.j. Character would be given a fair shake this time, but it was not to be. A.J . Could have been an exciting lead with many different facets to the character ! Iam very sorry to see him leave. This character was never given a chance!
I hope AJ doesn’t die, so he can come back. The Q’s are the best! I never liked the Deacon Sharpe character. What a bummer!
Sad to see Sean leave..great actor and liked the story line of AJ father and son Michael…what is RC thinking? Why write these actors back in only to write them out ,,,case in point, Robin, very unrealistic, but from what I understand she was headed to Grey’s Anatomy, I wish her luck..Sean you will be missed on GH..but good luck to you…Thank you for the time you gave us, the viewers..
Sorry to see you go but you have to go after the opportunity! How long is that Ava going to get away with things! I am at the edge of my seat saying AJ tell Carly that Ava shot Connie. I would have put AJ in a different story. I liked AJ with Liz, it was fresh and new, I would have liked AJ getting a job, and show Michael that he can get better. I would have put some twists about the Quartermaines backstory and give conflict for AJ and maybe new character. Its a shame that you are leaving again and good luck to you and your loved ones! Miss you!
I agree with you heather how long is Ava going to get away with everything she does she has killed connie and possibly silas’s wife nina and she provoked sonny
to shoot aj after he made a promise to Michael he would never hurt aj I am so sick of her not getting caught what is wrong with the writers of GH
A.J. and Carly shouldve been the next Alan and Monica…those two had great chemistry together…TPTB messed up here!!!
Thank you to FV and RC for bringing him back after all these years. It didn’t quite work out so I won’t miss him. Good luck to him!
I wish you luck, I have your cookbook and I use it many times. I am glad your going back.
Losing SK is a big loss to the show, and totally unnecessary. Another Quartermaine gone – I can’t believe what they’ve done to that poor family. Who’s left? Tracy and Monica? Best of luck SK – you will rock on B&B!
Great guy, great character, terrible writing! Good luck at CBS Sean.
I am sad that Sean is leaving. But I understand why. I think he is a good actor that got bad storylines. His character got thrown under the bus. I hope he gets all that he deserves at B&B. Best of luck to you Sean.
you play that role of aj soo good not fare to see you go miss you and good luck hope some day you’ll return
I am sorry to see him go as Michael just got to know him. I know as actors they want to go on but he did play a good AJ and I love the old characters that came back. I have been watching GH for 51 yrs now. My Mom used to watch it and when I was sick and stayed home from school I would watch it. Glad to see Audrey is still alive, I wish they would show her and Leslie a little more. Just because they are old they don’t need to be written off.
SK was a more sympathetic AJ than the other Billy Warlock. It’s a shame RC’s concentration is on his new characters and not on the GH legacy characters.
Disappointed he is gone. Could of done so much with that role.
I truley feel he was done wrong by execs on GH and should have been given a better storyline as many other cast left on the show…he was a valued character (family member) and he could have taken over ELQ!
Huge mistake made by the GH writers to give AJ such krappy storylines and turn him into Sonny’s whipping boy. But I can hardly blame the highly talented Sean Kanan for want to leave Port Charles. Sad to see him and another Quartermaine go. Now, please send Sonny to prison for his crimes.
AJ was always a screw up and he was written true to form by the writers. Will miss him but there are plenty of other characters to write for. Hopefully more Quartermains will come back when Ned comes back.
I read Mr. Kanan’s recent remarks on this site complaining that there was no “great love story” written for A.J. This tells me one of two things: Either Mr. Kanan doesn’t understand his character, and/or Mr. Kanan doesn’t understand what his body looks like in 2014. Either way, he is not a suitable candidate for a romantic lead.
I just hope that Ava gets what she deserves for killing Connie. I hate the character!
Oh she is awful isn’t she?
I agre with you 100%
GOODLUCK SEAN!!!! We Will Miss you as AJ, goodluck in your new chapter @ B&B. This is sad and shameful for this legacy character to disappear from GH again!!! ;(
I love Sean Kanan. I’m glad I’ll still be able to watch him on my soaps. I hope they are not killing him off. He is a Quartermaine and it’s time to stop killing them all.
Didn’t want AJ to go, not this way so now he can never come back.
Well then again who know’s they all come back, lol.
But I would have liked to see him right himself to show the world it can happen.
Can’t GH bring back Billy Warlock? I enjoyed his turn as AJ…
Agreed, Billy was the only AJ worth watching .
