James Franco blames Oscar writer, Bruce Vilanch for lackluster performance!

So now we are finally hearing from both camps on what went down Oscar night where General Hospital’s recurring superstar, James Franco co-hosted Hollywood’s biggest night.  Franco was panned by critics across the board for his seemingly sleepy and lackluster performance, but according to Franco he puts the blame squarely on famed comedy writer and award show writing staffer, Bruce Vilanch.

According to The Wrap, Franco tweeted his upset, “Bruce, he let me down” and then linked to a photo of himself and veteran Oscar writer Vilanch. The photo which has a “2011 James Franco” copyright on the bottom, is scrawled with two quotes supposedly coming out of Vilanch’s mouth: “James f***ed up the Oscars. Trust me, I know comedy,” on the top, and “I mean, come on, I write for Bette Midler!” on the bottom. Franco deleted the tweet within minutes, but by then plenty of his 400,000-plus followers had seen it, taken screen grabs and spread it around the Internet. At about 5 p.m., he reposted the photo, its scrawled comment intact.

The shout-out on Vilanch came after the writer made comments on Vulture about Franco’s Oscar hosting debut, “I have to call James Franco and tell him the show’s over … He took a nap and woke up in class.” Vilanch attributed Franco’s lackluster performance to the actor having “too many balls in the air,” and not arriving at rehearsals until three days before the show. Vilanch also said that Franco had “a bunch of people who were writing for him,” and that most of the communication came via email. Concluded the 22-time Oscar writer, “[H]e didn’t get there.”  The Vulture also asked Vilanch if Franco was stoned or high during the ceremonies in which he replied, “No, he wasn’t high,” I was with him, and he wasn’t high. And I asked him, ‘Are you high, and can I have some?’ And he said no to both.”

Last week, Academy president Tom Sherak told TheWrap that he’s aware the pairing of Franco and Anne Hathaway didn’t work. “She tried very hard, and he did it his own way,” Sherak said of Hathaway and Franco. “The light didn’t go on for him.”

I think it was a foolish move on the part of TPTB of the Oscars to have put James Franco and Anne Hathaway on as hosts in the first place. It takes more than good looks and being a good actor to make a host. That’s a daunting task for seasoned pros and many of them have bombed.A Billy Crystal , A Whoopie Goldberg, An Ellen Degeneres, and a few others did a good job. They brought them on to appeal to a younger audience i suppose, but that show has a lot of older viewers that appreciate a seasoned host who can… Read more »

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Who Will Turn Out to be Trina’s Biological Father … Curtis or Taggert?

This week’s episodes of General Hospital are set to deliver some needed results and some bombshells.  First, Victor’s will is read, but, in true GH fashion, the evil Cassadine delivers his reading via a videotaped message of himself in a return appearance by Charles Shaughnessy,

Meanwhile, Trina (Tabyana Ali), Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Portia (Brook Kerr) have all been awaiting the DNA tests results to prove that Trina is the biological daughter of Curtis, not Marcus Taggert (Réal Andrews) .

At the same time, Curtis is moving back in with Portia, after his lip lock with his ex-wife, Jordan (Tanisha Harper).

Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) and Trina are at the center of both storylines, because Uncle Victor probably left something behind for Spencer, while Trina will be dealing with the fallout from the DNA results.

Kate Mansi Makes Her General Hospital Debut as Kristina; What Were Your First Impressions?

Daytime Emmy winner, Kate Mansi made her first appearance on yesterday’s May 24th episode of General Hospital as the recast Kristina Corinthos-Davis.  The former Days of our Lives star takes over the role from Lexi Ainsworth.

As to Kristina’s story, it is revealed that Kristina is building an LGBTQ+ youth shelter with the help of her father, Sonny Corinthos. Kristina’s sister, Sam (Kelly Monaco) is concerned that she is not thinking through all the issues that come with creating and building such a space and shares her concerns with their mother, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn).

Enter Mansi as nuKristina with the renovation plans for the youth shelter.  She shares her excitement with Sam and Alexis.  An enthusiastic Kristina discusses the cosmetic changes she wants to make to the place and even shows her family, the Corinthos-Davis House logo.

Sam voices her concerns that in the past Kristina has great ideas and visions and how they don’t work out, because she never follows through.  Kristina gets angered and leaves the discussion to take a call from her contractor.

Remember, when Kristina lost her way, and then, seemingly everyone got looped in and involved with Dawn of the Dead cult?

Meanwhile, Molly (Haley Pullos in these scenes) is struggling with her inability to have a baby and tension is mounting between her and TJ (Tajh Bellow).

Mansi comes to GH with an impressive resume having been front and center as Abigail Deveraux on Days from 2011–2016, and then again in 2018–2020.  She took home the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series award in 2017 at the 44th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. In addition, Kate has continued to appear in primetime, streaming and motion picture roles.
