Now that Charlotte has been revealed to be the bio-child of Griffin (Matt Cohen) and Claudette (Bree Williamson), is that truly the final word on who’s the daddy?  Perhaps, but with Maxie (Kirsten Storms) being wrongly kidnapped and with what appears to be Valentin’s henchmen looking for Charlotte, the stage is set for James Patrick Stuart to finally be back on the GH canvas as the evil Cassadine!

Stuart, who got his feet wet in the role over the summer during the Cassadine Island adventure and Nikolas’ subsequent death, will be back with much more story to tell this time.  During his break from GH, James has been appearing in a play.

He told Soaps In Depth, “I didn’t know I’d be coming back.  Then all of a sudden, a few weeks ago, GH said, ‘We’ve got a ton of stuff for you to do!”’  Stuart added on Valentin’s agenda: “He has much to say. He’s been wronged and he needs to make sure that you understand that. He has a specific agenda!”

So, are you looking forward to the return of Valentin Cassadine? What do you think will happen this time when he hits the canvas? Comment below!

Yea for Anna and Valentin’s return! Let the games begin!

I think Claudette was Charlottes’ surrogate and not her bio-mother and that Loulou is the real mom with a Cassadine daddy.

I have to Say I much prefer a traditional villain over mob bosses any day! A campy catty female antagonist (Obrecht)…a body freezing havoc wreaking (cassadine) …loopy (Niña)..I can even take Franco..just end the entire mob that isn’t a mob for now for ever more !!!

Just watched that whole trial fiasco and the dismissing of the jury… two heads and two people walking off scene….bwahahaa

You are so right!!! But even with writing and EP regime changes, the mob is still GH..Enough!! All this so called mobsters just get away with all their crimes..it just ran its course..The Jeromes need to finally pay for their crimes to give the audience some satisfaction..They can still keep the actors in the show by using some creative writing, just punish them finally for their crimes. Take Sonny out of the mob and give him a new direction in the show.

I am so sick and tired of knowing before hand, that there will be NO hell to pay for the Jerome’s!! Bring back the traditional villains both psychotic and trouble making ones.

Oh boy. Another evil creep. Just what the show needs. We don’t have enough with just Ava, Julian, Paul, Claudette. Let’s have more unsettling, violence-oriented tales. Just gives me less reason to stay interested.

Stop the baby drama trope now! Not that it cannot be effective, it is just overused. And it holds no deep concern for me when the characters are so new to the canvas, despite connections. It is difficult to care.

agreed!

He; has revved up – all – our – senses

ok—-
Valentin; the worst of worst villains, the devil incarnate, the one feared above all.
Well folks, hate to mention this but-
J&S will have us all feeling sorry for him, a pity party. The great Valentin will be pussified.
Sooner than later the Feared One will no longer be feared.
((( wait for it …. sigh.

weakest Cassadine yet.

well… he’s already done the two Queens

Ava lets in
Nina chalks another notch

where’s the man you need

I think Charlotte could actually be Lulu and Stavros’ child. Remember the embryo story? Charlotte could have been the surrogate mother. Valentine wants Charlotte because she is a Cassadine. Laura may be the first to recognize a resemblance to Lulu as a child.

Yes, Maggie. Aria has proposed that also, a few weeks ago. Makes a lot of sense, right?

hmmm maybe.. i kind of like that…

And why do they need another kid just where is Rocco or whatever that kids name is

I think you mean Claudette was the surrogate mom… not Charlotte. But the idea that she’s Lulus child would be great! I dont think Claudette is the birth mom… she seems to eager to leave the girl.

That is the best point so far.

I also think that Charlotte could be the result of Lulu’s embrlyo and Stavros’ seed and that Claudette could be the surrogate. However the idea that Laura would be the one most likely to see the resemblance to Lulu is not as probable as you might think. Lulu was originally played by Tessa Allen who was dark haired, before she was aged 10 years.

super looking forward to his return !

I like the way you think do far. It would be good to have him back and maybe an answer of Nicholas I still think
this character is not completely gone.

I hope so too. I did like the actor that was his replacement when they all went to Greece. I thought he did a real good job of interacting with the other actors, especially Ava.

Meant to say Claudette could have been the surrogate mother of Charlotte.

AGREE……NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS WHOLE BABY-MESS STORY
LINE AGAIN!!!

I knew Valentin would be back eventually, there was no way his story in the summer was it for the character. I hope he and Nina hook up again and she becomes pregnant with his baby, because that would solve a few issues. First, it would tie Nina to more characters. Second, it would solve her baby issue that’s been playing out for months. And third, it would expand the Cassadine family which has been woefully whittled down.

I also hope they have plans to bring back Nikolas, hopefully with Nick Stabile, because the show is much better when we have him as a leading man.

I agree.. there is no way that he really thought that his time was done on GH. It really makes you not believe him in his interview when he said he did not think he was coming back to GH… hmmmmm ……

I must give credit to Timmm. He did say Valentin would soon show up, and I agreed.
As I suspected since Claudette said she was involved with Valentin and since Charlotte became an issue.
He is in PC for his daughter. I hope I am wrong because Valentin would be toxic for this child.
By the same token, I do not believe Griffin is Duke’s either.
Nonetheless, Valentin, Nathan, Griffin and Charlotte are all blood-related. Nathan for sure, as Shay and I have maintained from day one.
Now, it seems that Anna is in for a zinger! Well, quelle surprise? Not much of a coincidence, that Valentin ( the photo) seems familiar to her. It eill be battle worth Anna’s mettle. Anna vs. Valentin.
Somehow he is involvd in her past. Is Griffin hers and Valentin’s son? Hmmmm!!

Ok, so who will save Maxie at the eleventh hour? Ava? Wasn’t she in the alley, on the phone? Why are these women always in the alley, alone, talking on the phone or having a soliloquy? Is that wise with all the hoolums in PC?
Ava needs redemption….saving Maxie would help her on the path to righteousness. LOL.

Nathan and Griffen could actually be brothers…the actors do resemble each other…even some of their expressions are the same…i so much want Dr.O and Valentin to come face-to-face on a Friday cliffhanger!!!!

Nathan and Griffen could be faternal twins separated at birth…Griffen’s adopted mother could have been involved with Duke at one time…maybe she was a nurse and Duke was her patient…she fell in love with Duke but he did not reciprocate those feelings…later discovering who his father is-the evil Valentin she never told Griffen he was adopted and Valentin and Dr.O his real parents…instead she told him Duke was his father!!!

A bunch of possibilities there, Jimmy.
My guesses or presumptions aren’ t taken seriously because they tend to be off the wall. LOL. But, this is a soap.
The first thing I said, when Griffin first appeared, was how much they looked like each other. Could they have been brothers? I have learned from you, Jimmy…..my ‘wild’ imagination?
Obviously, if what you say is true, and Dr. O is Griffin’s mother, then it reinforces the fact that Duke cannot be the father, right?
What I proposed could also be true…..I don’t know how; but, Valentin and Anna could be Griffin’s parents….or either of Anna’s sisters ( AMC).
At the same time, we can’t put too much stock in what these writers think or do from one day to the next. Depending on their mood a story could change with the rising sun.

Nathan will save Maxi, have no doubt. Does anyone think that basement she is being kept in looks like the one Fluke and Dante were kept in?

Hello, Violet,
I looked at the basement scene by rewinding…..and, yes; it does look like Luke’s basement. But, from a different angle . And it isn’t as dingy. New coat of paint? HaHa.
With Luke’s, the staircase faced us; with this one, it is away from us. So, the chair is in the opposite position.
Do I make any sense??

The thug brought her food. Maybe it is below Kellys?

he also intimated that perhaps … Valentin could be taking care of Nicholas…

it would have made for very good story… Valentin and Nicholas forged a bond and vim and vigor for the Cassadine Empire

no such luck for me

BUILD the Cassadine back @GH

I agree Patrick, if they wont do it with the Q’s, build the Cassadines!

Thank you Cee Cee.

I like the actor who plays Valentin BUT he was supposed to be the worst ever Cassadine? I didnt get that impression. I would have brought back Valentin with Michael Muhney playing the part. He is delightfully devious!

Do you think Anna fell for Valentin or will fall for him?

What if Faison is wearing a Griffin mask???

That’s rich, Timmmy. Faison in a Griffin mask. He would have to wear a body-suit, too. LOL. No way can Faison own Griffin’s body. But, again, everything goes.
I would love to have Faison back. I’d choose his nutty, shlapstick , mad-scientist antics over Griffin’s forlorn, hurt mind, body and soul any day.
Yes, James Stuart’s angelic face isn’t the ultimate look of Rasputin, but, I think that boyish look allows him to get away with murder, literally!!
He played the bad guy/brother/nephew on AMC, as well. He’s good at it.
On the other hand, MM would kill it!! Pardon the pun, LOL.

I think Anna may have been involved with Valentin in the past…or at least, as I said the other day, their paths have crossed. But, Anna is a seasoned ‘warrior’ ….not in the throes of girlish, or younger love where one can fall prey to passion and love so easily.
So, if anything develops between her and Valentin; will be a put-on. She will try to use him in any way possible for the better good.

I like your ‘ teenager embryo’ showing up at the Falconeri’s doorstep. This couple may be the worst parents since Adam and Eve ( Chelsea)……HaHaHa!!
And, although I do think that Charlotte is Valentin’s and Claudette’s, we really cannot be sure with soaps. What many of the other posters are saying is as valid as anyone else’s.
We shall see.

As far as Nikolas; I do believe that since his body was never found, Valentin has him prisoner. Falling out the window, for the hundreth time, was fake….again!!
We agree that there is no way he just ‘ up and died’. We heard the shot, but….
I even joked about the fact that the river is mighty strong and magical; where Morgan has joined the valley of the (un)living.
Later, my Timmmy.

Greater good, not better good. LOL.
How did Valentin get out of jail. Was he ever in a Greek prison? Did he get there in the first place, Timmmy. Hmmmm.
Is Nikolas hiding somewhere in the catacombes of Wyndemere?
Was Nikolas shooting and consequent death staged?
Are Nikolas and Valentin working together? To what end?

To answer your questions in the order asked:

No.
Based on their style of writing, even Jelly doesn’t know what will happen since they appear to plot very little in advance and mostly make things up as they go along.

Yes, Melissa. I realized that, and have been saying all along that TPTB never really have a plan….remember Fluke? The most imbecilic story ever told….going no where.

You are so right!

Finally!!! 🙂

I SO don’t care about this stupid storyline and if Lulu is going to get intertwined in it, I’m even less excited about it. I loathe the Character Claudette and her musical chair return with Nathan/Griffin. The whole story has stunk from day 1. FFWD material.
I would rather see RKK defrosted and back as Stavros any day!

LOL, Ces. You bet!!
The thing is, I think the girl isn’t either Nathan’s or Griffin’s. Why else would Valentin come back? He comes to collect his daughter.
Unless he has unfinished business with Claudette …..retribution? ( it breaks my heart to say it because I love Bree; but, her story is insipid ….not dramatic, suspenseful or interesting in any way).
I think the fact that Anna’s and Valentin’s paths may have crossed in the past, will contribute a compelling twist to this fiasco.

Happy Saturday Celia!
So, I’m not sure when LuLu had that damn embryo but could Claudette have carried this child with it and maybe Valentin is the dad as you say?
Poor Anna… don’t bond with that kid yet, because pretty certain it doesn’t belong to Griffin either. I’m just glad they released Nathan from this.
Still…this story has started off so terribly boring and predictable that I can only hope they kill Claudette off and have it more about Anna since Finola needs something new to sink her teeth into! I agree with you.

so funny Ces – “…I would rather see RKK defrosted and back as Stavros any day! ”

ie: @Celia – “…I love Bree; but, her story is insipid ….not dramatic, suspenseful or interesting in any way ”

Bree Walker certainly has that – it – factor… it’s her leading men… that’s the problem as well. THIS could be salvaged… if any one is still interested

The GH WRITERS ; need ; to make a man out of Griffin

Matt Cohen , the actor is most definitely able to MOVE this along… should they stop his character from vacillating between his priesthood and doctor mentality and start living for himself

Ha! I agree Patrick – I’m still not sure what Griffin is all about but he seems so weak. He yells a lot but then gives in. Is he Priest? Doctor? Sex Slave? Do the writers know what this character is about? Is he even REALLY Duke’s son? It would actually be nice if he wasn’t Duke’s son because I quite like his chemistry with Finola 😉 Younger man … Thorn Birds .. lol!! What is Griffin’s story?

As for Claudette, she is despicable & not in an Ava despicable way where you still care about her (of course that is MW’s fabulous acting skill) but just despicable in that I want her dead & gone.

Lol, Ces. The embryo stuff is so obscure. Aria’s idea of ‘it’ being Lulu’s egg, but whose semen fertilized the egg? It’s not an embryo unless the two meet in a petrie dish.
Stavros had Lulu prisoner for so long; it does make more sense. But, Valentin? I don’y know about that.
I think Claudette is Charlotte’s real mother and Valentin the father. Charlotte was created the natural way.
Claudette and Valentin were, at one point, lovers and Charlotte was the result. Claudette realized Valentin was synonymous to Svengali and took off with Charlotte, trying to protect her.
I think she loves her daughter, so much so that she is willing to leave her behind if it guarantees Charlotte’s safety.
That’s probably the reason she wanted Nathan to believe Charlotte was his—for protection, since he’s a cop? Maybe?
Well, it backfired. So now it’s Griffin’s turn.
By leaving, Claudette thinks that Valentin will follow her ‘scent’ leaving Charlotte behind, safely tucked away with Griffin and Anna. And, to a certain point, with Nathan, as well. Knowing Nathan, he would not abandon this little girl, albeit she is not his daughter.
Whew…..I sound winded. LOL.
‘Nite, Ces.

haha, idk Celia ….. there is so much talk about LooLOO’s huevo that Charlotte is probably hers. The goldilocks could be hers or Claudette’s; child certainly doesn’t look like Griffin that’s for sure. Maybe Valentin found it and fertilized it? This all sounds so gross but it’s either Valentin’s or Stavro’s child I’m guessing. It’s like that “be careful what you wish For Lulu & Dante, you just might get it – but at what cost?”
Hopefully the writers do something to make this story interesting and FAST!

I agree with you Cee about Charlotte’s parents. I think Lulu and Starvos’s baby will not appear until the child is much older. Remember, Lulu and Dante went on that Cassadine Island caper and poor Rocco was left behind for days! Who does that? No, I just think if GH can stay on the air for the next five years, you will see the “Embryo Teenager” appear!

At this point, my dear, Ces? Anyone could be the father….even Rocco, whom we never see, and is in his 20’s by now. HaHa.

Or Danny for that matter… these people all want kids but you never once see them with them. Hell, Nina would probably make a great mother to all of the above. Crazy lady in the shoe with her kids in tow..

Good bad guy, hes probably Charlotte’s daddy.

Maybe now we can have the actual villains commit murder and other heinous crimes instead of good characters who are sacrificed for story like Paul H and Julian J. Pretty much everyone on this show is a murderer!

Dan…LOL. Your last sentence hit my funny-bone.

In the early years writers had what they called their bible they pretty well had a six month storyline planned out they knew where they were going these days they shoot from the hip it is exasperating I am not watching right now because I think once again we lt actors hold the show hostage! Whi is in charge here?

What happened to the story line of the Mayor? We all know that she rigid the election and Maxi mother Felicia was supposed to be the Mayor. I would like you to at least finish that story line, before you start another!

We have never seen confirmation on GH that Valentin is Charlotte’s dad. So far it’s only been Nathan and Griffin. I would say that he and Claudette make a good pair, both rotten people. Is Claudette the real mother though? Could LuLu be her bio mom?

Need a pro at being evil back on the canvas! So glad he’s back!

Really no point trying to figure where the story is going…
Writers probably don’t even know. I miss the days when soap writers assumed their audience were intelligent people who might actually be interested in the where story went. So many great stories back in the old days. Back then writers loved & respected the fans. Now not so much…

Right, Barb? Maybe it’s a spoof? A satire?

Love him!

I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with him. Valentin has been mentioned time and time again as being the worst of the Cassadines. His first appearance wasn’t that bad so I hope they can pull something out of their hats to show us why he’s worse than the rest. I’m sure JPS can deliver it.

I cant wait to see him with Heater!!!! On All my Children, RM killed his character, will Cortland

I hope this will end up with Lulu lesving with her kids for their safety. I am convinced that Dante needs to be a leading man on this show. Let this be their end story and move on with a Dante and Valentin feud, have Dante enlist the help of Sam and/or Carly and give us a real adventure story!!

JMS was the heinous Will Cortland on AMC. I anyone can play the devil incarnate it’s him. I would like to mention as I did earlier in my reply to someone who wrote that Laura of all people, should be able to see in Charlotte a resemblance to Lulu- However when little Leslie Lu was first introduced on G H she was portrayed by a beautiful little actress Tessa Allen, who had dark hair – Lulu stayed that way until the character was aged 10 years.

I am tired of this Cassadine-Claudette-Griffin baby drama. What has happened to GH? I liked the drama with activities centering around the hospital. The Maxie kidnapping was also stupid.

Just when we thought that we were FINALLY DONE with the Cassadines, we get Valentin !!! Hate the Valentin , Charlotte, Claudette story line. So sick of the “who is you daddy “,story lines. Let the Cassadines go and move on GH !! Hoping that Griffin is really Charlotte’s dad. Love the chemistry between Griffin and Nina !!! Love having Charlotte being Duke’s granddaughter !!!!! It keeps the family continuity going on GH.

If writers can’t honor what occurred six months ago why would it matter to today’s writers what a character looked like 20 years ago.

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

Published

on

By

Dominic Zamprogna

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).

On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.

Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

Courtesy/ABC

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT

Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”

Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”

Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES

In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”

Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”

You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.

Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy  for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Patrick J. Gibbons

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.

However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.

Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG

Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!

Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”

MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL

Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).

Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

Photo: JPI

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY

Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”

It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”

A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

Photo: PGibbons

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS

As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”

He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”

Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.

So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.

Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.

Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

Chad Duell

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON

Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”

Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”

When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES

One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”

“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good.  I was working with Dominic  Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.

A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?

As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”

Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
