Jane Elliot's Final General Hospital Airdate And Story Arc Announced!

Courtesy/ABC
As enduring fans of General Hospital prepare themselves to say goodbye to Jane Elliot as the one and only Tracy Quartermaine on the ABC Daytime Drama series, the show is planning a story arc for her that will begin today on April 11th, and conclude on her final airdate on May 4th.
In a posting on Twitter on the official GH Twitter handle, late yesterday they related: “Bittersweet news alert — it’s our honor to announce the beginning of Tracy Quartermaine’s last escapade. Tune in tomorrow to witness the beginning of Jane Elliot’s final GH arc, a month-long story that will culminate on 5/4/17.”
Fans of the series have been brokenhearted at Elliot’s upcoming departure, as it will certainly be another exit featuring a legacy character of the series. There has been much speculation that Tony Geary (Ex-Luke Spencer) is coming back in a story that will take Tracy off the canvas. Geary, also had a major departure from the series a few years back.
So, ready to say farewell to Jane as Tracy? Will Luke be back in the story? How do you think Tracy’s story will conclude? How do you want it to? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
I hope GH gives her final bow a story arc that is as remarkable as she is
Afraid they won’t!
I’ve always loved Jane’s portrayal of Tracy, and I agree I hope they do it with dignity, style and class. I love the way Tracy has become more human over the years but still has nerves of steel and that edge. We will miss Jane and what she gave to GH greatly!
I agree with all that Christine said. As far as the article’s speculating that Tony Geary will come back, if that happens, I hope she only kicks him to the curb. Luke always acted like a clown in a man’s body in his relationship with her. He wasn’t worthy of her.
No need to overshadow Jane’s exit with the return of Tony Geary.
No overshadowing, Tony only has to show up as the driver of a car, boat, plane, ect. He doesnt have to say a word.
You’re right. Even Jane said in an interview that “Tracy is an addict, and Luke is her addiction.” We don’t want her to leave with her “addiction.” We want her to leave with her strong character–and her dignity–intact, don’t we?
I’d like her to leave with love…and if Tracy is still in love with Luke and vice verse…than that’s a happy ending…
Hes not overshadowing Tony is there anyway for Jane Be nice he mnakes an appearance
I really wish Joe Scully were still alive. I think he and Tracy riding off into the sunset would be the best. They really had a connection. Alas . . .
I hope that GH honors Tracy Q and Jane Elliot the way they deserve. Flashbacks of Tracy’s life from when she arrived in PC all the way through to the present. Maybe even a nod to her time on The City. Her men, her husbands, her children, the battles with her father and Alan. Tender moments with Lila. Tender moments with Monica. All in all send her off with the pomp and circumstance of a Queen!
You said it, Mark! Let us see her greatness as an actor and as a strong Quartermaine.
I totally agree.I would watch that. GH bores me to death lately so I don’t watch. I don’t really want to see Luke return, no where no way never. . I also liked the chemistry of Tracy and Joe Scully. They blew that one big time.
I’m with you on that one, Janet! She and Joe Scully were great. Yeah, they blew it –big time.
I love Joe Scully, they were great together. I wish they didn’t kill him off.
@Mark, et al….Even though Tracy did have undeniable chemistry with Joe Scully, their pairing always made me gag because he was such a lowlife criminal thug contemporary to Sonny….For a high-born woman who grew up with the best of everything to have settled in her later years for the likes of this wise guy, not to mention, Anthony Zaccara, Gino Soleito and yes, LUKE!, just beggared belief for me. I always believed that Ms. Quartermaine needed an equally-brilliant, business-minded society gent with his own legitimate empire for her “better-half”..at least someone with a modicum of taste, respectability and class, but, alas, that never happened. In the scheme of things, Lord Larry made some sense…as one could see a person in Tracy’s rarified atmosphere falling for a madcap, debauched aristo, and even her early failed union with the devious politico, Mitch Williams, was no great stretch given her unsatisfied craving for power and position…(I always wondered why we never heard again from him…he was a dandy do-wrong of a dude!) Then, of course, there was Paul Hornsby, who proved to be a total lout, not to mention, killer, but again, he was a charming and educated go-getter, so one could certainly understand the attraction there. As for as how Tracy Angelica Quartermaine’s soap “journey” will end, I suspect she may very well walk into the sunset with that loser Luke…which is not the destiny I would have ever chosen for this dynamic character, but that’s just another in a long list of disappointments in this lady’s life–and GH, in “general,”—that we will have to learn live with.
GREAT ACTRESS…..SHE DESERVES A WONDERFUL LAST STORYLINE…..DONT BOTHER TO BRING BACK GEARY……GH AND THE FANS WILL MISS THIS POWER
HOUSE…..
Agree! Tracy is awesome just by herself. Why make her happy ending tied to a man? Any man? The best ending would be if Tracy was finally fulfilled by the life she has. Really, the best partners Tracy ever had were Monica & Alan. It’s going to be sad watching Monica say goodbye.
There’s no reason that she needs to leave by herself to show she’s a strong woman. Romantic love is not the only road to happiness, but why not have Tracy FINALLY find everlasting love. If it’s Luke…great. Makes “her” happy, lol, makes me happy!
I’ll miss Jane Elliot as Tracy. But, I really don’t want her riding off into the sunset with Luke! I’m sorry, but it will ALWAYS be Luke and Laura for me!
Definitely agree!!!!!
Tracy has become more likable, but no Luke for her. If he takes anyone away, it has to be Laura. Never will there be such a great chemistry between two actors as they were.
I hope the emmy awards honor her in some way-life time achievement?…talent like Jane’s is hard to come by in daytime these days…She may have taken sometime off from GH and done other soaps but GH will never be the same…hope the door is left open for at least a visit…for the holidays!…The Q mansion is getting lonelier and lonelier…
I am going to really miss this fantastic lady. Loved her character of Tracy.
Oohhhhh, I am so sad to see her go. I will miss Tracy’s presence terribly, but wish Jane nothing but the best. Really hope they give her a worthy send off. With or without Luke.
I don’t want Tony Geary back either. She’s part of the GH institution and should get a solid and proper send off. She spoke her mind regardless of whether or not it was politically correct. Going to miss Jane a lot.
Am I missing something. How did this announce the story? I wish Tracy and Jane a wonderful story line, one that is in keeping with the character and able to visit again if she chooses. I hope they give a retrospective as Mark , above, suggested.
I would list JE has one of the Top 10 giants in daytime history. From Guiding Light to Days of our Lives, The City, and General Hospital, she has NEVER phoned it in. I talent that has been under-appreciated for years. Selfishly, I would love to see her return to “DOOL” as Angelica, but I do not think she would leave “GH” to go back that far in history. I hope this is not the last we see of her. Thank you for a lot of “soap” memories.
So terribly sad to lose an actress of Jane Elliot’s caliber. There are so few left in daytime like her. Wishing you all the best whatever you do next, Jane – and thanks!
I am so sad that Jane and her character are leaving that I have no idea how I’d like to see her go. So long as she isn’t killed. Leaving with Luke would be very nice though. Even if he’s off camera.
If Geary shows up only on her final episode (perhaps just a cameo) & is featured in scenes with Tracy and nobody else in PC, that would be fine.
I imagine Tracy saying goodbye to the Qs in the mansion foyer, gazing up the stairs in homage to Edward, Lila and Alan. Then, after the break, Tracy is shown on a plane with Luke starting their grand adventure.
Hopefully, fake Larry is dispatched this week. It’s been over a year since we’ve seen Bergen Williams (Alice). She should definitely be there to wish “Miss Tracy” happiness on her journey with “Mr. Luke”.
Jane and Tony are quite close friends.
I believe Jane wants Tony to exit her out.
It is befitting to have Luke and Tracy be together in the end.
All the great ones have left GH… it is becoming empty 🙁
Now question is;
Can J&S give Jane a great unforgettable exit …
Only problem is that Luke and Laura the greatest romance in soap history gets a curve ball. But I see them together too.
Exactly, Patricio…and that is why I’m sure the notion of a “happily ever after” with Tracy would prove an irresistible impetus for Geary’s brief return as Luke to the GH canvas…it would be the ultimate indignity to the “done and dusting” of the “Luke and Laura” phenomenon that he has treated with such unabashed animosity for most of his career.
Good question! 🙂
I really hate to see Tracy go..I know everyone deserves to retire..and Tracy has worked a long time for GH..I just wish she would be able to come back when she wants to for visits..To think about never seeing her again makes me so sad..Hoping Luke comes back to start his life with Tracy again and they ride off into the sunset together..That would give Tracy the closure she needs..
Perhaps Jane finally could no longer take the hideous writing, focus, and pacing that has turned this once iconic show into a grade A dumpster fire raging out of control. Jean and Shelly need to be shown the door ASAP and someone young and fresh needs to be brought in who doesn’t write stories like it’s still 1987.
While I share your frustration with the current writing situation, both Jelly & Ron get credit for giving Jane storylines that focused on Tracy. During the later Guza years, Tracy’s main purpose was as Luke’s sidekick. The past five years have made her (and her boys) more prominent.
Wish they had someone (like Pat Falken Smith, for example) who writes stories LIKE 1970s or 80s. What a boon that would be.
Apparently you’re not a happy camper. But, no, Jane has been talking about retiring for a very long time. She said she no longer has the acting bug…has been in front of the cameras for years and is interested in pursuing other interests and places…
Loss for us…win for her.
Hi again, rebecca! You’re right–and I think Jane likes it that they have “softened” her character a bit before Tracy plays her swan song–though leaving her a strong woman.
Hey Nancy…yep! Sigh…going to miss her.
Just want a happy ending for a wonderful actress. I will miss her very much. She left GH before for a period of time and I kept thinking that she has to come back one day….and she did. I love how at times she lets her guard down and shows her sweet and caring side, like she did with Finn and Hayden even though she can be tough. I love her humor with Monica and down deep they love each other because when something happens, their each right by the other’s side for comfort. So many things to miss about her….All your fans hate to see you go but you are wished the happiest future ever!!
I have watched GH almost from the beginning and Tracy is so much a part of it. I will definitely miss her!! She is an AWESOME actress!!
So have I.
she deserves a respectful, passionate, hilarious exit and it would be wonderful to see her ride off into the sunset with Luke. A wonderful actor leaves GH and the exit should be with style. Thanks for the memories.
As I’ve said often, she used to refer to who-know-who as “chewing gum stuck to the bottom of her shoe.” THAT’S what Tracy thought of him early one. 🙂
Hope Madame Jane receives the BEST possible storyline exit! No need for Luke to return….would rather see her off to help people in need & find the peace of mind to finally do good for herself.LONG LIVE TRACEY QUARTMAINE….THE GREAT AND BEAUTIFUL JANE ELIOT!
Her departure really bums me, i think she’s one of the greats and not seeing her on screen is depressing.
Alas, if Jane is happy i’ll be happy for her too, but i pray she comes back for visits. just can’t imagine GH never mentioning Tracy ever again its just really depressing..
I agree with you Aria! It will not be the same. Like losing and old friend who is leaving town. Will will remember the great stories Ms. Elliot brought us. She was the first to make a soap villain multi-dimensional, one that we loved to hate.
Yes I have said since I heard she was leaving that Luke should arrive healthy and clear headed to take her to Ansterdam LOL MAYBE the letter Luke gave to Laura that was never read was about Tracy!
“Clear-headed”? Don’t bet the house on it!
Well, if Luke were to arrive back in Port Charles FROM “Amsterdam,” I can hardly imagine it would be in “clear-headed” condition!!!!!
Yes Luke should take her away
I am sad to see the old guard leave; much richer acting and I hope that if she came out of retirement she coems to the B and B We need more Dillon in hte mix though
Tears will be shed…….that is all !
For so many years I was hoping Tracy would have a long lost daughter show up! Too late for that I suppose!
But she might get a long-lost half sister if that last scene in Turkey follows soap norms
I am trying to prepare myself. It is hard. I am hopeful she will be going on an adventure worthy of Tracy.
Last night I re watched all of Alan’s death episodes. That was just as painful as the first time I saw it. Please don’t let Tracy die!
I felt the last story arc began when she received Ashton’s letter that Tracy promptly burned. Tracy and Ned scenes today were great. JE will be greatly missed. I hope GH will use LC as Monica more once Tracy is off canvas. Legacy characters are so important to the history of the show. More so in these days of dwindling daytime serials.
I will truly miss her since the Quartermaine family is vanishing before our eyes. Grant it, the next generation is suppose to take over and it looks like Monica will be the matriarch to head the family. Sadly, I miss the Quartermaine’s influence on this show and that appears that this show no longer has any “roots” to it & that is very sad. Good luck Ms. Elliot, I will miss you.
May 4th will be a day I have some hankies. I am really going to miss Jane and the character she played so well. She made Tracy full of piss and vinegar that set her apart from any other character in daytime. You earned your retirement, Jane!!!
Will miss Jane Elliot on my TV screen on one of my favourite all-time Television shows EVER! Wonderful actress! Hope she has a great “send-off” for these next couple to a few weeks! <3
I will miss her also, what a great actress, she brought lots of laughs over the years for us, it would be nice for Luke 2 take his spanky buns with him! Good luck 2 u Jane Elliot in whatever u do!
I join the chorus of accolades and praise this incomparable Emmy-winning powerhouse is receiving as she winds-down her iconic role of “Tracy Quartermaine Spencer”. I join the party late (…after more than 42 yrs being a die-hard fan of the CBS Daytime line-up, and still mourning the loss of my 32-year addiction that was GUIDING LIGHT. Any of you longtime daytime historians like myself know that (in interviews), Jane admits that in addition to her affection for her many roles (GH, KL, DAYS, AMC and CITY), her favorite role remains her one-year stint as “Carrie Todd-Marler” (1981-82), because it was written by her dear friend, the late Douglas Marland. It was the first time she really knew she could act because she was able to deliver in a way she never thought she could on-screen. I remember her vividly in that role; it was truly transformative and I urge all of you unfamiliar with her work on GL to YouTube clips of her portrayal of a woman struggling with multiple personalities. Daytime has been much richer with Jane in its midst for the past four decades…
Mr. Cyr….I have also enjoyed Jane in some of her earlier primetime appearances…I recently caught her in a featured performance in a late night rerun of Kojak, and I’ve read that she had many roles on episodic ’70’s tv shows before becoming a resident daytime diva of distinction.
I DON’T WANT HER TO GO !!!!!!!!!!!! SHE IS A PIVITAL PART OF THE SHOW AND A GREAT ACTRESS. I AT LEAST HOPE WE WILL SEE HER DO OTHER THINGS , SO WE CAN ALL BE ENTERTAINED BY HER. LOVE YOU TRACY. I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST.
I know that TPTB will send her off with as much class as she gave them for all her years on GH !!! Jane E. you will surely be missed but your legacy of Tracy will remain with us a life time! We GH family/fans know that there will never be another Jane Elliot/ Tracy Quartermaine ..Sending much love and happiness and good health and relax have fun! By the way my retirement starts May 4th also so we have that in common ! xoxoxoxoxoxo
Now she can return to Guiding Light as Carrie Marler. Oh, wait ….
She was great in GL !
I hate to see Jane Elliot leave – I will greatly miss her portrayal of Tracy Quartermaine
I don’t mind Tracy leaving to be with Luke, but I don’t want Tony Geary to appear. No matter how quickly or much of a cameo it is, his presence will take away from what should be Jane Elliot’s very deserved moment in the sun. Hope they can make it clear that Tracy is going to see Luke, but let Jane have those final moments to herself.
Well I want Luke and Tracy to go away together… but I can’t Imagine Replacing Her as Tracy Either
Why is Jane leaving
Hi Sandy-
I’m not sure why the the great Ms Elliot is not continuing. I’ve heard retirement, salary issues and unhappiness with storylines!
I Just wish her happiness and that she is not being pushed oug
She will be sorely missed. She is one of the best daytime actresses of all time.
I do hope she will have a wonderful send off and I wish her well. Thanks for all the great performances.
A huge void, the show will never be able to replace. Thank You for many hours of entertainment
Very disappointed to see Tracy Q leave GH, but best wishes to the actress in her retirement.
She is a wonderful actress. A true legend to General Hospital. I wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
All the best to an amazing actress. You have made me cry and laugh
Then any actress I know. You will be so missed all the happiness
Enjoy all your adventures. Please GH keep Ned on!!!!
I, for one, will miss the incredible, comedic performances of the fabulous Jane Elliot! Jane is just an incredible force of nature and I love her as the Matriarch of the Quartermaine Family! She delivers such funny one-liners to Ned about Olivia (“Mama Celeste”), about Scotty (calls him an “ambulance chaser”), etc. I actually liked Tracy’s relationship with Luke because I thought it was fun. I loved the scenes of their drunken wedding in Vegas, loved how he referred to her as “Spanky,” and loved how he bought her a pony, “Skittles.” I wasn’t born during the Luke and Laura days, and I didn’t care for them, as a couple, during their return in the ’90’s. If Luke came back, in a comedic storyline and Tracy were to leave with Luke, then sobeit. Regardless, I hope that TPTB give Ms. Elliot a proper and memorable send-off with A LOT of fun flashback scenes!
I want to wish Tracy(JANE) a wonderful restful retirement and hope she comes back periodicly, just to make an appearance. Wish she was staying long enough for NED AND OLIVIA”s wedding, but she will be her for the engagement party. I will miss her,she is wonderful actress.
OK…you know what: It’s BAD ENOUGH that Jane Elliot wants to retire (or whatever). The LAST THING that I wanna watch/see is that OVERRATED Tony Geary come back for Tracy Q.’s sendoff. NO, NO AND MORE NO!!!!!
Later.
Hey look at it this way the queen is taking the queen off daytime! He looks awful I am so over this guy
ROFL. I made a crack like that and have been on moderation ever since.
But, yes, what you said!
You know what I call it as I see it I don’t much give a shit if I offend Geary fans he looks awful he is a joke and tired of everybody singing his praises
If he is coming back please leave my beloved Genie out if this fiasco
I had hoped we would have a scene with Tracy laying on the floor and one of her (or many of her) many enemies standing over her holding her heart medication… fade to black..and a few weeks later we hear Ned has moved his mother, who is in a coma, to another state. I hope Tracy “goes away” fiesty… that is what most of us love about her!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.
