While currently involved on-screen in romantic trouble between Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Mia (Noemi Gonzalez),  Jason Canela (Arturo) took to social media Monday morning to share the news that he is departing the CNS Daytime drama series.

In his post, Canela says: “I feel blessed to have been a part of something so special! I appreciate each and every single person that makes up part of the family! Our makeup team, our crew, our security! Without them there is nothing  The team behind the camera is what makes it all worth it.”

This came on top of his Jason’s post which expressed: “When I signed my 1 year contract with Y&R I was excited because for the first time in 3 years living in this city I was able to call a studio like ‘Television City’ home.  Add to that the incredible people I’ve had the pleasure of working with to create genuine relationships with … like Peter Bergman,Melissa Ordway, Jordi Vilasuso, Sasha Calle and Noemi Gonzalez  just to name a few. (Sorry guys, but Peter is my favorite).  I feel blessed to have been part of something so special like The Young and the Restless family.  It’s time to turn the page and see what beautiful stories I am blessed enough to be part of next.  I want to send all my love and positive vibes to the Y&R fans who have been so welcoming since day 1! Appreciate the love and no worries, The Rosales family will still be cooking up some drama in Genoa City, so keeping looking out for them, and showing them all the love they deserve.”

No airdate at this time has been given for Canela’s last appearance on Y&R.

Im sad ,I wish Jason all the best.He deserves it ,

I liked him and his character and was hoping for more story. I suspect, with the new regime at Y&R, he won’t be alone in the unemployment line.

What is going on with the soaps lately people just coming and going at a time when the story line is good and unresolved I don’t know.

totally sucks hes the only newbie i kind of liked on the show i do hope the rest of the family leaves with him,,lola can stay,,

yes only lola.

He signed a one-year contract, which means that he was only on the show for a year?? It feels to me like the Rosales family has been on the show for EONS, which may be due to their constant presence on every episode and my disliking of the entire family.

It doesn’t say who made the decision. Did the actor decide to move on, or did the show opt not to renew his contract? Either way, I hope this is the beginning of the entire Rosales clan leaving the show.

I wish the actor success —- in another role on another show.

If you read the article above the comments, you will see his photo, and his reasons for leaving on his own. He was not fired.

Keep it going! Drain Mal Young’s swamp!

You said it Timmm!!!

Don’t know why they had to ruin everything with an affair with Mia. He changed so much with Abby but that woman just never seems to have good luck. He’s a good actor and was good to see a Latino family grow (minus Mia) and hope that YnR keeps the diversity going. Best wishes to him for great success in the near future.

Yes, him sleeping with Mia seems out of left field. I guess they had to find a way to get him to leave.

Momma Mia! I hate Mia! If Arturo must leave, can he take her and her make-up suitcase with him? Oh, and Summer can take a hike too!

Hats off to you HARRY‼️

You know, I wouldn’t say that those two sleeping together was out of left field. That’s all they spoke of from the time they ascended on GC. First Rey telling about his wife and brother and than, every time Mia and Arturo were together, she’d eat him up with her eyes, and he couldn’t look away. Mia was married to Rey, but she wanted Arturo too, which made it so disgusting. Even Rey, once he had feelings for Sharon, which he chose to deny, he still stayed with Mia, instead of sending her ass packing, tried to make the marriage work, knowing what a piece of work she really was. Now she gets to go free for what she did to Lola. If anyone needs to be in jail, it’s her.

I wonder if the role will be recast? I’m not sure how to feel about this since I know there have been alot of resentments against the Rosales family. They aren’t Newmans or Abbotts so to me, I see them as just OK.

I don’t mind them too much; I just don’t need to see them on the show every day, which they were. Integrate them slowly. Don’t hit us over the head with them to the detriment of others (Neil, Paul, Dina, etc.).

the bunch of them were working for peanuts compared to the rest of the original cast. the whole story line was around them so Y&R could save a bundle. Abby cannot keep a partner ’cause she cannot do a bedroom scene. never seen such a good looking girl fumble up a bedroom scene as bad as her

So long – you and your character were neither necessary nor relevant to the GC canvas.

Hopefully the rest of your ill-conceived TV family will follow suit.

Your comment is the unnecessary one.
He and Abby made a beautiful couple.
The Rosales family is revelant because as you can see in society there are people made up of all economic classes
I hope Rey, Mia and Lola stay. Genoa city characters cant sleep within just two families and become incestual.

I agree 100%! Think of the Rearden Family on Guiding Light. As well as the Santos Family. Or the Snyders on As The World Turns. The Newmans and Abbotts have so much freaking money. We need there to be real life scenarios that are relatable extended into the Genoa City world that will balance out the economic status of the Y and R characters/families as well as the cultural diversity of 2019 that is so important. The mistake was that Mal Young brought them all in way too quickly so that we couldn’t connect with their integration while pushing out our fan favorites. And with the Winters Family losing Neil (and Lily and Hilary), I just don’t know… Seems that Ana and Devon are going to carry them on, one way or another.

Also, I’m glad that they are correcting the direction of the character of JT. That was a ridiculous storyline for someone that we loved so such a long time. Domestic Violence is a very important issue, and Amelia and Thad being intimately connected in real life allowed for them to play these roles with complete trust, but the direction that story with the 4 women “killing” him and all of the following months of storyline that MYtook was soooo wrong. It’s a real-life situation for many, many women (myself included), but to take JT who we have loved for decades into this direction was really tough. But I get that Amelia and Thad trusted each other 100% in order to take it there.

Your lame rebuttal is unnecessary – you can love the ill-conceived Rosales family all you want – hell, sleep with them for all I care!!!

I’m not in the minority re them – swing and a miss, thanks for playing Damien!

So it was his choice? I guess that’s why they had Arturo sleep with Mia.

Abby sure can pick ’em.

That sucks. I like Arturo

Bye!!!! That’s what happens when you get on Twitter and our nasty and self serving !! You were shown the door!

You should keep your own nasty comments to yourself
No one knows what your talking about
Arturo the character and Jason are handsome and kind souls

Yes, do be careful, Kay – you don’t want to upset Damien and his infatuation!!!

Do you really even know who you are talking about? Nasty and self serving? That would have to be just about the whole cast.

Hey, Violet,
True, that….no one is “pristine” on soaps….but, I think Kay may be referring to the character, not the actor. I don’t know—I have neither a Twitter nor Facebook account.
Mia, certainly brought the character down a few pegs—I detest cheaters. I, myself, never took to Arturo…..I love Lola and Rey is sort of growing on me, now that he’s being honest with himsef.
I must wonder if he and Sharon will get anywhere romantically.
Her past with Nick will always be looming between them; both physically and emotionally……as usual.
Oh, and…I get weird vibes coming from Ana’s ‘father” and “cousin”… are they on the up ‘n up? Devon’s money must look pretty golden, right now….
I think this is exactly what they were planning. Is Ana in on it?

Celia,
Kay’s comment just ruffled this old hen’s feathers. From what I could make of it, it was meant towards J.C, not Arturo. I think that his character was a little full of himself, swooping in to romance Nicki, than Abby, than Mia, of whom he’d already cheated on with once before. He acted like he was God’s gift to women. I would like to see him and Mia leave town, but if by chance she really is pregnant, that will raise the question of who the father is. Rey hasn’t told Sharon this news yet, so that may be a deciding factor to their romance.
As far as Devon and Ana. I am in the minority I think, that likes Devon, so I am hoping that his sister Ana would not be involved with a scam of any kind, put in to motion by her own cousin and father. We know the father is authentic, because Devon knew of him as a singer from years ago. It would be the perfect scam, if it wasn’t for his sister being involved. It would make for a good SL either way, as I’ve heard this gal from GH might be a love interest for Devon.
Going back over what I wrote, I guess just because this man is Ana’s dad, doesn’t mean he isn’t about going after Devon’s money. My dear, you may be on to something here.

You’re right, Miss Violet…..I had forgotten about Arturo and Nikki……which reenforces my point that Abby should have been ‘en garde’. LOL.
Most importanlty, Arturo’s behavior left much to be desired. Too bad for Abby….I wonder if she has learned anything this time around.
When I first heard Brytni was coming to Y&R, I thought the same thing. A girl for Devon, or a new Lily.
I am not saying Ana’s father is an imposter exactly….but, he could be trying to take advantage of Devon…..wants a piece of his “cake”?
I hope I am wrong…..but, why introduce them if there were no underlying misdeeds? We shall see.
I like Ana; so, I hope she’s not a schemer.
She is not only gorgeous, but also seems to really care for Devon.

Celia,
O.k, you put the idea into my head about Ana’s father and cousin, so I will be watching those two more intently. Another possibility is maybe this cousin, I can’t remember her character name, will become interested in Nate, both doctors, who lives right across the hall, might even get to work with him at the hospital. Oh my, all kinds of possibilities. I was hoping that Ana’s dad might fill the space that Neil has left, once they address his death in May. Wonder if Lily will return, minus Cain, I hope. Sure haven’t missed him lately. I jinxed it! Made Cain appear today.

I wondered if the new producing/writing team would dismantle Mal Young’s new family and, it seems that may be the case, yes? I am hoping for some stabilizing in Genoa City, but I was not opposed to integration of a new family. The Rosales clan just seemed not to win our hearts before falling into deep drama. Will Arturo leave with Mia? If Paul fires Rey from the police department, what is left for him? Lola? Seems Kyle may just fall in love with Summer after all. I do not like to see actors lose opportunities.

Yes, I think you’re right. It’s not that I dislike the Rosales family, (okay, I hate Mia with the heat of a thousand suns but I guess I am supposed to hate her )it’s that they were rapidly and awkwardly introduced. And Mal Young was doing something really odd, creepy and out-of-character with Victor and Nikki agreeing to an open marriage. Our first impression of young Arturo is with him hooking up with Mrs. Newman hours after he first met her. Through no fault of the actor’s, he didn’t make a good first impression, and that can be a hard factor to overcome for soap characters.

Hey Harry
Just wondering, if you watch DOOL too, who do you think is worse, Mia or Gabi. Right now I am hating both of them, Claire too, but she’s leaving, and then there was two!

Sorry to see you go but best of luck to you.

00ooh no !!
There were only 2, just 2, hot sexy guys with Y&R, now only Kyle..

I’m not happy about Arturo not being on the screen, but it is what it is..

I’m sure he’ll be seen in other shows, and- good for Jason Canela to get out and moving on before it’s too late.

Agree 100%
The show needs more good looking young people and new families to keep from being old and incestual

this is not a big loss to the show

The character was never added to the opening credits (nor anyone in his tv family)…I don’t see any of them being long term, unless the new head writer has different plans in mind. New EP & HW normally cut loose characters they don’t need.

This really sucks
I was thoroughly enjoying the Rosales siblings dynamics . It was a breath of fresh air. Was hoping the Abby / Arturo/Mia/Rey affairs would continue, especially the sexual tension between ‘Arturrrro’ and Mia. Also thought Abby finally found her true love with Arturo.
I know fans didnt want a new fam taking time away from faves however for the show to continue younger new families have to be introduced, the vets arent getting any younger.
Too bad , Jason was rugged , good looking had good chemistry with the ladies and the character was different than other well to do genoa city residents
Good luck to Jason

OMG
I think I liked Arturo and sister Loala, as he said it the best. Rather Mia, and Rey were leaving. Jason was probably as sick of his part as we were. First his gig with Nicki, and than being pulled into Mia’s black web. I don’t know whether I see her as a spider or a vulture.’ Either way she’s disgusting. Arturo was his own worst enemy, poor guy, didn’t stand a chance. Adious, and good luck.

I do not care for the Mia character either. The classic bad girl who is misunderstood/social climbing but doing it all wrong is a classic soap trope (Carly ATWT) but we did not see any good in Mia from the start. She just hit the ground running. I believe characters have to earn their love or hate and respect from viewers. That is the writers’ job. If we could understand Mia better, I think she would gain more sympathy and be the girl we love to hate. Sadly, not going that way.

I too watched ATWT, and yes, once we were able to understand why Carly was the way she was, her childhood, etc., we were also able to understand her destructive behaviors better.
This Mia, just came in like gangbusters, in your face, everything all about her, I can’t stand her and never will. Maybe she will go with Arturo, but I can’t stand Sharon and Rey together either.

Violet, I couldn’t agree with you more. I hate the way Mia trots around holding her little arms folded up against her body–she reminds me of Tyrannosaurus Rex in a cocktail dress, barging through coffee houses, restaurants, apartments, and mansions looking for something or someone to grab.

Harry, RGHT?

No, you can’t leave, I love you with Abby. You are one good actor. Hope to see you again .

I thought he was really good in his role with Abby. I love the Rosales family and the added diversity they brought to GC. Soaps must reflect today in cities in Canada and the USA. Very very disappointed and the slightly not so slightly racist comments these actors have had to put up with on pages such as this absolutely disgust me but it reaffirms my opinion of a good many Americans who yell free speech when it is obviously hate speech.

You are great with abby.

Wishing you best of luck from Canada!

It may have been his decision to leave. He is a young guy who wants to spread his wings. I think the Rosales family would have been accepted, if Mal Young didn’t place them front and center so quickly. Also, Mal sectioned them off. Yes, Lola had Mariah and Tessa, but where were the friends for Mia, Rey and Arturo? They could still work, but blend them into GC and don’t hate me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a recast for Mia, if she is written out.

I am going to miss Jason for I liked him in his role of Arturo and liked him with Abby…Wishing Jason nothing but the best in his future endeavors…

Here’s hoping Arturo leaves Genoa City and Abby goes with him…

Now I suddenly LOVE Abby! She is hilarious. The actress who plays her is not just drop gorgeous, she has this inherent comedic talent. No, Arturo, don’t take Abby with you. However, feel free to take your sister-in-law with you and her rolling suitcase full of cheap make-up samples. Bye, Felicia! Bye Mama Mia! Don’t let the door hit you!

Harry, right on. That’s one thing that Mia does good, giving out samples. Wish Arturo would take her, when he goes. Sorry to see all those roses go to waste though.

I wish him luck.
I never did like his character. Him and Abby were not a good match.
I think they should bring Scott back, him and Abby have unfinished business.

I preferred him over the other Rosaleses. Loved that he came on as a toy boy for Nikki. It does seem that Abbey will follow her mothers footsteps and never have a main squeeze that lasts.

Oh, well….

Heh.. well, “brevity is the soul of wit,” after all.

Ahhhh, Harry!!…my Willie!! Love him to death–hope to meet him when I cross over…and Robert Frost!! LOL.
I see that Arturo has a few ardent fans, Harry…..I would not want to be so audacious as to get in anyones face by dissing him….and, facing the consequences. ❤️

That CLOWN Arturo is leaving…Y-A-Y!!!!! Also, show his KEYSTONE KOP brother Rey the door and I’ll be even happier…lol. Oh…and BTW, I LOVED yesterday’s episode (3/26) of Y&R…especially where Paul chewed out Rey and then FIRED him. About damn time.

Welcome back Doug Davidson/Chief Paul Williams. You have been truly missed.

Later.

Jay you crack me up! Remember when you had a long term substitute teacher? At first you were all happy and thought you could just slack but after a while you saw the class falling apart. Then the teacher comes back and order is restored. That’s how it feels to have Paul back.

Harry…y-e-p. And now that Chief Paul is back in town/Genoa City, the GCPD is now BACK IN SESSION…YEAH!!!!!

Later, Harry.

Arturo, a great actor, I wish you all the best. Maybe Abby can buy you a new truck before you leave..LOL Abby a great actor too.Arturo, I enjoyed you,the small amount of time you shared with us,come back again,Y&R, always needing a come back.

Hayden Panettiere Remembered: ‘Guiding Light’ and More Stars Mourn Her Loss in Wake of Tragic Death

Hayden Panettiere

Tributes continue to pour in from the entertainment and soap opera community, and especially from former co-stars of Hayden Panettiere, who died on Sunday at the age of 36.

Panetierre was best-known to soap fans for her roles as as a young Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light and Sarah Roberts on One Life to Live, and as an adult in ABC’s music city primetime soap opera, Nashville where she starred as Juliette Barnes opposite General Hospital alum, Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky, GH and ex-Avery, Nashville).

As previously reported, Panettiere died on Sunday afternoon, August 16 in a home in Greenville, South Carolina. The coroner released an official statement on Monday, which read in part “no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death. The cause and manner of death remain pending further investigation and the completion of additional studies.” First responders rushed to the scene after a 911 call about a woman who was unresponsive from an overdose and in cardiac arrest.

Now below, check out some of the heartfelt remembrances for the extraordinarily talented, Hayden Panettiere from several of her Guiding Light co-stars and more. Michael Fairman TV will continue to add to the list of tributes throughout the next few days as they become available, as well as keep you updated on any further developments in Panettiere’s death.

Beth Chamberlin (Beth Raines, GL): “Hayden played my daughter for 3 years. She was the most brilliant child actor I’ve ever seen.  The things she could do, the way she could remember 20+ pages of dialogue, day after day.  Even on days where the director would come out between dress and tape and make huge cuts to the scenes, Hayden, never once forgot a line or missed her blocking.  The adults would, but not Hayden.  I felt blessed to work with her. And always perfect in her playing of the scene.”

Connie Britton (Rayna James, Nashville): “This was Hayden. Bursting with brilliance, shining so bright. I have no words for this sad song. Just heartbreak.
I love you girl. Sleep easy now. 💔”

Tina Sloan (Lillian Raines, GL): “Hayden Panettiere was my granddaughter on Guiding Light. She died at 36 and was such a star.”

Rebecca Budig (ex-Michelle Bauer, GL, now Taylor, B&B): “I remember working alongside her..loved her and her family. She and Beth were spectacular together. So sad for her family and those who knew and loved her.”

Karla Mosley: (Dani Dupree, BTG) “This is awful awful news. Blessings to her soul and all who loved her.”

Photo: CBS

Bethany Joy Lenz: (ex-Michelle Bauer, GL) “There is nothing that posting pictures on the internet can do. I avoid it usually in moments like this. But Im here with my head in my hands and I don’t know what else to do in aside from praying for her soul, which I have done and will continue. I’m crushed. I knew the wild little blonde. Was she nine? Ten? I was eighteen. She ran through the Screen Gem studio hallways at 222 E44th St. laughing and playing games in between Guiding Light blocking and camera rehearsals. Long, unruly curls trailing behind her. She knew her lines and everyone else’s. Her intelligence was astonishing. She understood scenes and nuance and human struggle like no child I’d ever seen on camera. And she’d sit with you for a great conversation, then giggle and go play. We’d connect on and off over the years, like the cousin in the family reunion who got famous and life moved her away—but I always felt such joy seeing her when we were lucky enough to cross paths. We’d make a pact to talk soon. Lunch. Dinner. Somewhere we could curl up into a corner—but we never quite made it happen. I mostly stayed up to date through mutual friends.”

Lenz continued, “I don’t understand how this is real. Everything seemed to be turning around. She was coming BACK to life, wasn’t she? It’s too young and there’s still so much more life. And her daughter…. Hayden, you are surround by love. I’m sorry for every moment I didn’t reach out or check in. This can’t be real. These are moments of how I knew you, in glimpses over 26 years. I don’t know how to process this. I am praying for you to know the peace of God now and always.”

Brittany Snow: (ex-Daisy Lemay, GL) “I was lucky enough to play your sister for 3 years. I related to you so much in so many ways. Ways that I never even told you. Your talent was remarkable & so was your determination to be a bold, bright shining light. And you were. Always supportive, curious, funny and brave. You will always be remembered undoubtedly for your undeniable strength and spirit 💔.”

Charles Esten, Hayden Panettiere

Photo: CestenIG

Charles Esten (ex-Deacon Clayborne, Nashville): Patty (Esten’s wife) and I are stunned and saddened at the loss of our dear and beautiful friend Hayden. I will never forget the first time I met her. In a sound stage office in Hollywood, I was finishing up my very first NASHVILLE audition. I had read two Deacon scenes before pulling out my guitar and singing two songs. I said my goodbyes and, hoping I’d done well, went to open the door to leave. Instead of swinging all the way out, the door bumped into somebody. Kinda hard.”

“To my complete surprise, It was Hayden Paniettiere, who – in full Juliette Barnes mode – had been listening with her ear to the door. Instead of looking even a little bit caught, her face instantly bloomed into the most beautiful smile. Eyes twinkling, she clapped her hands and said, “That was so good!!” I can promise you that in that moment, there was nothing in the world I needed to hear more than that. I told her that, along with my HEROES-watching family, I was already a big fan of hers, and that I was grateful for the very kind words. It was her turn to go in, so as I went to leave, I said a jokingly cocky, “See you on the set!”

“I was, of course, many auditions away from landing that incredible role. But when I finally did, and showed up in Nashville to start work, she walked right up to me, pointed in my face, and with that magical grin said, “See you on the set!” From there, we became fast friends, working very hard to play those 2 troubled Nashvillians, but always having fun and laughing a whole lot along the way. She was, of course, extraordinarily talented, infusing her larger-than-life character with all the heart, charisma, humor, whip-smart intelligence, and flat-out magic that were, alongside whatever troubles and pain she carried, a part of her own personal palette. What a great gift it was to act with her, sing with her, and to just be her friend. She was always extremely kind to my family, especially my wife, Patty, who I’m certain she liked even more than me.”

Together, we are heartbroken that she is gone, and praying for her family, and for all those who, like us, will miss and mourn her so dearly. God bless you, Hayden.
Rest In Peace and Light ❤️

Emme Rylan: (ex-Lizzie Spaulding, GL et al.)” So very sad. Rest in peace sweet soul.”

Bryan Craig: (ex-Morgan, GH) posted a text exchange via his Instagram story he had with Panettiere where they laughed about her making fun of his hat. He wrote: “Love you Hayden. Rest in peace Angel.” Craig later added, “Cherish the moments with people you love and care about. As cliche as it sounds. Send that text, get that cup of coffee, tell them you love them and you’re proud of them. You may not get the chance again.”

John Oliver Recaps His ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘General Hospital’ Soap Opera Experience on ‘Last Week Tonight’

Published

on

By

John Oliver

Last Week Tonight host, John Oliver had his soap dreams come true on not one, but two long-running daytime dramas, heralding it his “hot soap summer” on the Sunday night, August 16 edition of his HBO series.

As viewers recall, Oliver’s tour of soap duty began back in March when he made a request and an offer to appear in any daytime drama that would have him with certain conditions, which included: having a ridiculous and over the top character name, a juicy storyline, and a slap.

Both Days of Our Lives and General Hospital came a-calling for Oliver, taking him up on his offer and in short order. Oliver appeared on GH in the role of the head of the WSB named  Z on episodes airing July 2-6, and then on DAYS in the role of Salem’s chief water inspector, Devlin St. John, in episodes that streamed the week of August 11.

Photo: ABC

FIRST STOP, PORT CHARLES

On Last Week Tonight, Oliver shared that both soaps delivered, and then launched into a comedic send-up complete with clips from some of his scenes. Starting with General Hospital.

Oliver said, “To General Hospital’s credit, they met all my requirements and more. First, my character got to arrive by a helicopter flanked by a pair of armed goons. And I got to do a dramatic walk during which I bravely shot in the general direction of a guy who was already on the ground. It’s called being an action star, by the way, unless you’re me or Vin Diesel, you really wouldn’t understand. And then in my next scene, I revealed my true identity. (Oliver played the scene where Josslyn wakes up in a hospital bed with Z standing at the side of her bed introducing himself).

He continued, “As for getting slapped, well, they knocked that and me out of the park too, because it turns out that agent’s mother was not happy with me,” explained Oliver, as they cut to the slap of Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) in the WSB Port Charles bureau office on Z. Oliver screamed, “YES! It has everything! A slap, a dramatic closeup, and me doing a voice so wrong, it is genuinely embarrassing. That was my honest attempt at an American accent. I can’t tell you why it’s southern. I can only tell you I was trying my hardest.”

Photo: ABC

SECOND STOP, SALEM

Then, came John’s wrap-up of his role of Devlin St. John on Days of Our Lives, the town’s chief city water inspector. “It is on Days of Our Lives I appeared in scenes alongside soap legends like Jackée Harry (Paulina) and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie). And the Days of Our Lives team met my demands in a whole different way because instead of being an international spy boss, they wrote me a character a little more my speed.”

Cut to a clip of Oliver introducing himself as Devlin St. John to Rita. He explains, “I’m the only thing standing between this town and a catastrophic plumbing failure. A literal sewage apocalypse. They made me Salem’s Chief City Water Inspector, which let’s be honest, is perfect casting. If you’re going to bottle my essence and sell it as cologne, it would be called ‘Chief City Water Inspector.'”

DEVLIN’S WIG

The late night host also clarified all the reports, that the wig he wore for his DAYS character he actually brought from home. “Now, as for the hair, I agree, it’s absolutely incredible. It’s been reported this past week that it is a wig I brought to set from home. And while it wasn’t technically from home, we did actually provide that wig, and for good reason,” joked Oliver. “I’ve seen myself act. I knew the hair was going have to do 90% of the work. I’ll be honest, I was going for a healthy John Stamos (ex-Blackie, GH) look, but instead, it appears I ended up looking more like Tina from Bob’s Burgers.”

Photo: Corday Productions

“And if you’re wondering whether I got slapped on Days of Our Lives, not only was I slapped by a man wearing elegant silk pajamas (EJ), I also got to slap him, which felt utterly incredible. But wait, I was also stabbed with a syringe and not once, not even twice, but three different times. And if that wasn’t enough, this happened too.” At that point, Oliver played the clip of Rita using the taser on Devlin.

JOHN OLIVER LEAVES DOOR OPEN FOR A SOAP RETURN

The now late night star-turned-soap actor concluded his segment with, “Are you not entertained? Watching that makes me feel the way I assume Matt Damon felt after seeing the first cut of the Odyssey, both proud and impressed that my body could even do that. Which again, you wouldn’t understand. You’re not an action star like I am now. ”

As he ended his recap, Oliver thanked both soaps for playing along, and noting that neither DAYS or GH actually killed him off! Could a John Oliver return happen down the line? Stay tuned.

Watch John detail his soap dreams come to life on General Hospital and then Days of our Lives below.

Now let us know, what did you think of the performances of John Oliver on General Hospital and Days of our Lives? Did you prefer one over the other or enjoy both of his guest arc visits? Could you see Oliver nominated in the Guest Performer category at next year’s Daytime Emmys, even for a 3-episode run on one of the soaps? Let us know in the comment section.

Hayden Panettiere

UPDATED: Hayden Panettiere, the original Lizzie Spaulding of Guiding Light, and one of the leading stars of ABC’s country music drama Nashville, has died at the age of 36. According to a report on Sunday night, August 16 from TMZ, who broke the news of Hayden’s passing. Panettiere was also well-known for her role in the primetime series Heroes.
