She’s a three-time Daytime Emmy winner, and the daughter of the iconic Michael Landon.  Now actress Jennifer Landon is about to make her debut on NBC’s Days of our Lives on upcoming episodes next week.

According to the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest (on newsstands this week), Landon will play Hillary a neighbor that Nicole (Arianne Zucker) runs into while hiding out in Canada with baby Holly.

But there is a twist! Hillary turns out to have an interesting profession one that could put Nicole’s plans completely in jeopardy! As the World Turns fondly recall Landon in her role feisty role as Gwen, which won her those three consecutive Daytime Emmy trophies in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

So, glad to see Jennifer Landon back on daytime? What will Hillary’s appearance on the scene mean for Nicole when all is said and done? Comment below!

Would she not have been a perfect Theresa recast? I dont get why this show kerps hiring big name talent in short term or throwaway roles. Its like they dont look at their entire canvas and assess the needs of the show. They struggled and shoehorned Dr. Daniel Jonas into the show for years…when he would have made a perfectly natural Mike Horton recast. He couldnt have slept with half the women he did if he was Mike, as be would have been related to them. Same on GH…they hire Budig having NO idea whatsoever who she will play. After… Read more »

I am so glad. I met her at an ATWT gathering in Manhattan the year before that show left the air. she was so very nice and she really is a beautiful lady. My only gripe is that I know i am going to be wishing she can stick around. I know her work is going to be very good!!!

I cannot believe this! I LOVED her on ATWT & am so excited to see her again. Maybe her character can help fill the void when Nicole leaves the show (which I hate to even think about) So happy to see the girl back on daytime.

Glad she is making her way back to daytime, even if it is for a short storyline. She was given the short end of the shaft at The Young and the Restless, even though I did find her take on Heather Stevens refreshing! Hope this leads to her making a more permanent return to the daytime fold, because Jennifer is a great actress!

Well stated, Scott. A few daytime vets got short shrift at Y&R (Maura West anyone?) during the lunatic years of misguided stories endorsed by producers who did not know better. I still feel bad Paul’s children are just not around.

Do not even get me going on Maura West’s unjustified firing; her portrayal of Diane Jenkins was ace, given the material that was written. She could’ve really become a longterm Genoa City residence, but now she’s found her proper home in Port Charles.

Thankfully, Genoa City is a saver place to be in 2017 than it was in 2010/2011, etc.

Scott please she was twenty years too young for the role please stop with the madness ok MW is a fine actress but she was too young for Dianne Jenkins please stop it

Maura was told the age difference was not a big deal but it was also remember they could not age Kyle when the did Abby the whole thing was a fiasco but she has a good run at GH though I feel they watered her character down since Jelly took over.

Well, let’s hope this is better than her run on Y&R.

They would be smart to keep her. She would have good story under Ron Carlivati’s writing.

As the World Turns Alum Rita Walter Dead at 71

We’re still losing so many beloved soap opera actors as 2022 comes to a close. Now comes word that former As the World Turns alum, Rita Walter (nee McLaughlin) passed away at the age of 71.  Walter had been diagnosed with Multifocal Glioblastoma, an extremely aggressive form of terminal brain cancer.

Rita had an 11-year-run as Oakdale’s Carol Deming Hughes Stallings Andropoulos Frazier.

The former actress-turned-optician, died on Christmas.  Rita’s brother, David McLaughlin revealed the news on the 26th which also happened to be the anniversary of Walter’s exit from the defunct CBS soap opera in 1981.

In his posting on Facebook, McLaughlin shared: “My sweet, loving sister Rita was called to Jesus today on Christmas day, his birthday. She was a well known actress as well as dedicated server of the Lord Jesus. May you rest in peace Sis, I love you forever. You’ve taken my heart with you.”

Before playing good girl, Carol Deming, who always found herself in distress as only a good heroine could do, Rita started her career as Patty Duke’s double on The Patty Duke Show, before getting her first foray into soaps with a role on The Secret Storm as Wendy Phillips.

We clearly remember when on ATWT, Carol was married to Jay Stallings, but Jay was having an affair behind her back. Carol also had failed relationships and marriages to Tom Hughes and Steve Andropolous.  Eventually, Carol left Oakdale after falling in love and marrying Reverend Norman Frazier.  In a case of life imitating art, Rita married Reverend Normal Walter in 1976.

Walter is survived by her three children, Brian, Jill, and Amy, and her husband, Reverend Norman.
