Jerry Springer, best known as the the host of the long-running and controversial syndicated daytime talk show, The Jerry Springer Show, passed away on Thursday at the age of 79 at his home in suburban Chicago.

A family spokesperson says Jerry was battling a “brief illness.”  However, TMZ is reporting that Springer was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months ago, and this week he took a turn for the worse.

Springer who hails from Cincinnati, where he initially originated his talk show, at one time also served as the city’s mayor.

The Jerry Springer Show ran from 27 seasons from 1991-2018.  Chants of “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry” were the trademark.  Springer’s talk show was as lowbrow TV as you could get filled with raucous and despicable family drama, affairs coming to light, squabbles, curse words flying, fights, and chair-throwing.

However, thae formula of Springer’s guest plus Jerry egging them on, became a pop culture favorite and ratings winner for years.  Jerry’s show was so popular in the late ’90s, it even beat The Oprah Winfrey Show in the ratings in several cities.

After his talk show was cancelled, Springer went on to host a liberal radio talk show, “America’s Got Talent,” the movie “Ringmaster” and competed on Dancing With the Stars.

Jerry survived by his daughter,Katie Springer and his older sister Evelyn.

Fun Fact…While Mr. Springer was mayor of Cincinnati, he paid a prostitute in Kentucky with a check and then cancelled payment afterwards. She naturally went to the media immediately! While working at a hotel restaurant in Cincinnati, Mr. Springer came in quite frequently. I can state for a fact that he was so full of himself and a total pain in the arse. He was such a gag maggot. However, death is always a sad occasion and I do wish him Godspeed…RIP, Jerry! Jerry!! Jerry!!!

Jerry’s Air America radio show wasn’t on the air all that long, but those who heard it may have been shocked. It was pretty much the opposite of his TV show… very low key & serious political discussion.

In fact, it may have been a bit too “dry” for the early morning time slot it was in. A little bit of the TV Jerry might have done better with a drive time audience. Works for Howard Stern and others of that genre, right?

I just read somewhere where he was quoted as saying he was nothing like the person we saw on his TV show, just the opposite in fact. So, I have to say he was a very good actor.

God, I remember watching his show all the time. Yeah, it was lowbrow but damn, it was a show that you just couldn’t turn your eyes away from (if you were into that type of show). He’s in a better place now.

Kin Shriner Says He’s Been Written Out at GH and Shares: “Thank You General Hospital Fans For Decades of Supporting Me!”

Out of nowhere, long-running General Hospital vet, Kin Shriner, shared on his Twitter account Tuesday morning that the soap opera which he has called home, on and off for 45 years, has written him off the show.

That would mean, coming up in story, Shriner’s Port Charles alter-ego, Scott Baldwin is somehow exiting the canvas.

In his tweet, Shriner expressed:I just found out Scotty was written out, I thank U General Hospital fans for decades of supporting me!”

Many are finding this hard to believe, in part, because back in December of 2021 Shriner tweeted, “Scotty’s run is done, so heading to Florida to ride Vespa around the tropics!”  Eventually, Kin was back at GH.

The last long period of time that Kin was away from GH was a five-year absence until Scott was back in Port Charles in February of 2013.

No word yet from the show itself, confirming the news put out by Shriner.  If this is all said and done, we firmly believe Scott will have to come to Port Charles at some point.

Shriner remains one of the all-time favorites of the iconic soap opera currently celebrating its 60th year on the air.

So, what do you think about Kin stating that he is being written off of GH? Comment below.
