Leave it to soap opera veteran, Jerry verDorn (Clint Buchanan) of One Life to Live, to give all loyal Llanview fans something to salivate over as the show begins production this Monday!
The Daytime Emmy winner took to his facebook page with the posting of a special gallery of behind-the-scenes and in-the-works images at One Life’s new Connecticut studios!
Jerry’s post starts by saying: “Look who brought his camera to his wardrobe fitting to share some Llanview behind-the-scenes photos!”
Check out the construction of the Lord library, the hair and make-up room ( pictured here), a future hotel room, the Buchanan wing of Llanview hospital, a street scene that will lead into Angel Square, a coffee shop on the street, and more! Of course, as many All My Children and One Life to Live fans know, many of the new sets will be used for both soaps in different incarnations!
Let us know what you thought of Jerry’s pictures! And, if you are ready to see the first images next week from the studios from the various stars of One Life to Live! We bet there will be some!
I have to wonder where all this funding is coming from not that I’m notsuper excited just interested in the soap behind the soap.
Prospect Park is company making an investment and taking a risk. Exactly what this great country was founded on. Picking yourself up by the bootstraps and working hard to make it a success! But they are also making an investment in us, the audience. We must not only watch but spread the word to all of our family and friends. Only then will it work!
Very Nice Lisa J
I understand and love that they are taking the risk I just was wondering what changed from back when bringing the soaps back on the air fell through to now.
From my understanding, that got derailed due to them not being able to make a deal with the unions. Since this is so new, nobody could figure out how to deal with residuals and the union since it was to be on the web and ITunes instead of the TV. But they were finally able to come to terms and the green light was lit! Hallelujah! I think a lot of prayers were answered. Hope that answers your question.
Perhaps this hels;;
Separately, Prospect Park has closed its financing with ABRY Partners, one of the most experienced and successful media-focused private equity investment firms in North America. Since 1989, ABRY has completed over $36 billion in leveraged transactions and other private equity investments
Brent Stone, a partner at ABRY Partners, stated, “We are excited to be partnering with Jeff Kwatinetz and the rest of the team at Prospect Park, and we strongly believe that they will continue to be a leader in their innovative approach to content creation.”
Kwatinetz continued, “We are privileged to the have the backing and partnership with Brent and his team at ABRY, who are proven, brilliant investors, and will help us reach our ultimate goals.”
Im wondering how much cheaper it is to do this show as 30 minutes in Conneticut with far less commercial interuptions and shown online compared to the one hour version in New York shown on a network? How can they do it and not the network? And if AMC and OLTL can share the same space in Conneticut, and can alternate schedules to keep costs down why couldnt the big three networks who have more money find a way to do the same?
I mean why couldnt ABC move AMC and OLTL to Connecticut, share and alternate taping schedules, and cut them down to 30 minutes if thats all it takes to make them cheaper? Same with CBS with Guiding Light and As The World Turns. It seems like these networks would have more money than PP, so i dont see why they couldnt have at least tried.
Dare I say it? ABC could have but all indications are that Disney wanted out of soaps. Moving AMC to CA was a bad move and a costly one. I’m not one of those who blame ABC for everything but I do blame Disney for wanting to replace their daytime soaps with reality programing.
When Disney bought Capital Cities/ABC in 1996 the new company looked at cheap ways to promote and reduce costs of the networks profitable yet long running shows. “Port Charles” lasted only sex years with low ratings and ABC’s announcement that they were no longer producing 1/2 hour shows.
At California Adventure park, a Soap Opera Bistro was opened and not promoted well. It closed in a year.
When AMC, OLTL and GH all had similar openings that seemed to me that ABC was loosing interest in the shows.
ABC could have done what PP is doing but I don’t think they have the will or brain power to do anything positive . NBC has had night commercial for “Days” for years.
Never saw one on ABC.
oh, there are so many things ABC could have done to make this work way back when!
I think they just took a look at some survey (probably a survey of a bunch of people who don’t soaps – ever) and thought no one watched any more along with the outdated way to know who really is watching, where and when – many of us watching via digital tuner (not counted), many watch via you tube (not counted), many save their showss past a day to watch on DVR (not usually counted)… there were clearly a lot of out of touch executives doing the budgets and deciding what shows to keep.
I meant share the same studios…dang!
Couldnt respond to you Dave but loved how he said Port Charles lasted sex years! LOL Was that a pun for LOVE IN THE AFTERNOON! ? I know it was a typing error…or was it? lol
I like that a lot of the sets will be shared. And the square looks like Oakdale’s downtown. I like the old feeling of it all.
I thought they had released something earlier on in the process about securing the funding for a relaunch!
WOW thank you Jerry for the pics they are amazing I can’t wait for the 29th!! It can’t come soon enough 🙂
It just goes to show you how the actors realize how invested we all are that this succeed. By keeping us in the loop it’s building the suspense! But it was also a very nice gesture on Jerry’s part to share behind the scenes with us. Can’t wait to have my shows back!
Oh nice job! They are going to be perfect. So happy to see it becoming….real!
Great photos. Thank you to Jerry verDorn for caring enough about the fans to share them. I am so jazzed about the return of our beloved show, characters and actors. April 29th cannot come soon enough!!!!!!!!
That’s great of him to share the new digs!
OLTL was cancelled so ABC can get out of new York to save $$$$$
