It’s been an emotional week for General Hospital viewers following the death of Brando Corbin; which meant that actor Johnny Wactor has wrapped his run on the ABC daytime drama series.

On Thursday, Wactor shared his ‘thanks’ to all the loyal GH fans who took the journey with him and his on-screen alter-ego via a video post on his Instagram account.

Johnny expressed: “It’s been a couple days since the demise of Brando Corbin in Port Charles as we know it.  And I have to tell ya, I have been so blown away by the reaction from the fans.  I had no idea that you guys cared so much about my character. I’m so grateful for the outpour of questions and support. I’ve always said, that the fans of General Hospital are the greatest fans in the world and I truly believe that and this is just further evidence of that.”

Social media was abuzz when Brando suddenly died following successful surgery after being attacked by the ‘hook’.  Some fans felt Wactor’s presence will be sorely missed; while others shared that they felt Brando was not a necessary character.

Wactor took all of the comments like a champ and in his video message added: “Whether you were excited to see Brando Corbin killed off, or outraged and have questions, man, I’m just so lucky to have been on this show, truly.”

As he concluded his ‘thank you’s’, Johnny let GH viewers know he does have some other projects that you will see him in very soon, sharing: “Thank you so much for letting me bring Brando Corbin to life.  Thank you for caring, and thank you for all the support and the well-wishes for my future endeavors, whether that’s back in Port Charles at some point, or another show, or other films … which there’s some coming.”

Lastly, Johnny added, “I’ll miss ya, and you enjoy the rest of the week.”

Watch Wactor’s heartfelt message below.

Johnny Wactor IMO is a wonderful actor and I will miss him and his character of Brando. I was very upset that Brando was killed off of GH. I LOVED him and Shasha together. I wish Johnny nothing but the best in his future endeavors. By the way Johnny, THANKS for the kind message and video. YOU will be missed.

Apologies for misspelling of Sasha’s name…Love Brando and Sasha…Johnny Wactor aka Brando for sure will be missed.

Bring him back!

Johnny mentioned the possibility of a GH return a couple of times during his video. I’m hoping that is a possibility, for Brando and Sasha truly had/have the opportunity for being a great soap couple, love, intrigue, mystery, and FUN!!!

The epitome of class and kindness. Best of luck to JW in his future endeavors.

Brando was a sweet character. I will miss him. J.W. did a great job and I wish him well.

Johnny…Sometimes the nice, more decent characters in soaps can get overshadowed by those characters who make the most noise and drama. But believe me, your role as Brando, and the way you played it was a welcome relief and made up for some of the crazy things going on at General Hospital. So I am not happy you are gone, especially the way the way the writers did it. Good luck in the future.

Very sad to see him leave the show. Really liked him. Like to see him come back. Thank you for the video.

I really liked the character and actor. He was caring of others yet fearless. Watching his relationship grow with Sasha was beautiful. They both deserved that deep love they found together. I was looking forward to watching their love grow.

GH does seem to bring talented, wonderful new actors to the screen.. then just as the actor becomes popular and gains a fan base… GH always turfs them !

very sad to see Johnny Wactor be the latest to have this fate

So true! Like Nathan:(

I think Johnny is a terrific actor and am genuinely surprised that the show would let go of such a talent. What a loss to the fans of GH!!

I also wanted to say thank you to Johnny for such a classy and heartfelt good bye message. WE don’t often get this from a departing actor. What a classy guy. Hope they find a way to bring him back!!

Greg
Thinking the same thing, that he cared enough about his many fans to offer that heartfelt message. It was very much appreciated, and tells you his worth in so many ways. Why are we losing so many good characters while the vile ones just get to stay and wreak havoc?

This is exactly the kind of head-scratching move that makes daytime viewers crazy. With a show dense with unlikable peripheral characters, why kill off one of the nice ones? And now Diane gets an all too infrequent appearance just to get “the hook”? Bad form, guys. Really bad form.

I can’t take GH no more, now I just pass on by it, they are killing off all of the best people because they want to cancel the show, so be it.

Johnny had a natural, subtle and quietly charming essence about him which was effortless. You found yourself rooting for both Brando and Sasha. But the writers decided to drench this couple in tragedy. Viewers kept waiting for their story arc to arch upward to a happy place but instead, it went darker and darker. There was no pay off for the couple, and by extension for viewers.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Take a look at the official GH spoilers for the week below.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 4

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
