Five-time Daytime Emmy winner Jonathan Jackson (Ex-Lucky, GH, Avery, Nashville) is back in music city as one of the series regulars of Nashville when the primetime series premieres in its new home on cabler CMT this coming January 5th.

The Nashville gang including: Jackson, Sam Palladio (Gunnar), Claire Bowen (Scarlett), Charles Esten (Deacon), Maisy and Lennon Stella (Maddie and Daphne) were included in the first behind-the-scenes promo shared via CMT’s social media.

Nashville is currently in production shooting all new episodes,  and that is happy news for Nashies who can’t wait till the January premiere!  New co-showrunner and EP Marshalll Herskovitz and Nashville creator and EP Callie Khouri also amped up the excitement for the new season, which is being presented as the “best season yet”.

Will it live up to the hype now that the show is more streamlined with less cast members?

Watch the promo here, and then let us know if you think season five will be a good one out of the gate in the comment section below!

If they can remember Character and music.. first..and tell a story. People fall in love with the Characters. Love Country music,it’s Nashville not LA, Miami or Detroit. Not plot driven/message driven. Characters and relationships not plots, It will be a winner.

100 PERCENT CORRECT…….THIS IS NASHVILLE…..NOT L.A.!!!!!! LOVE THE SHOW.

Oh, Rose, you sound refreshingly like a lone voice in the wilderness. You’re exactly right, of course. Do you remember the live-action Disney movies of yesteryear, like the ones with Hayley Mills? Those movies, too, are classics because they spent the time–and audiences wanted them to — in developing characters we could care about. No CGI effects, no car chases or explosions every five minutes. Just people we can care about and/or identify with. Let’s hope our NASHVILLE remembers it, too.

I’ve posted my feelings about this before but as thrilled that I am that Nashville is returning, I’m less than thrilled with the changes they’ve already made. I really…really…liked Luke and will miss him a lot. Layla was a very well-written character on so many levels; I’ll miss her presence too. Not sure what’s happenibpng with Connie Britton. I guess if they space out her episodes her absence won’t be as glaring but still she’s the heart and center of the show. Finally, not impressed with the new characters they’re adding from the little I know. Still, will definately tune in (no tune pun intended) and do so with an open mind. Bring back Luke!!!!

I agree, Rebecca1. I also feel that Layla/Aubrey was one of the best singers, very distinctive. But I have the same issue with GENERAL HOSPITAL. Too many new or unnecessary characters at the expense of others…and us.

Sigh…very frustrating. We get attached to “people” and poof!

Connie Britton should be there–is she still an executive producer?

I am so excited I can’t stand it. Love this show and the great music from the show.. And it doesn’t hurt that I adore Jonathan Jackson along with rest of the characters. Come on Nashville.

Always been a Country Music fan! I love the show and am glad it’s coming back, just hope it’s on a channel we all can watch. Thank you Clare Bowen for your story on why you cut your hair, you are beautiful either way.

It’s on The Country Music Channel, CMT. Are you in the U.S.? You should get it…if not it’s also on Hulu ( I think the next day and probably with a subscription).

Love this show! Keep it real, don’t get to far out there where it’s unbelievable. Music…country! I mean real country, keep it about the music and real love and life. Can’t waite!!

Whatever happened to the homeless man Scarlett was working with outside her office? I would like to see him brought back. He had an interesting story line.

Nashville is the best show I have ever watched in my whole intire life!!!! I love everything past and present. Thanks again for bringing it back.

It’s nice to see him but I miss Lucky. However I’m glad people have noticed how good he is.

More of the Story on ‘General Hospital’ Star Josh Kelly’s Latest Film Role in ‘The Workout’

We had previously shared that General Hospital’s Josh Kelly was taking three weeks away from his role of Cody Bell to a shoot a role in an upcoming movie entitled The Workout.

Josh originally revealed his role in the film during an episode of GH castmates, Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson’s (Spinelli) podcast.

Now Deadline has filled in some of the blanks, and shared some intriguing intel on the premise of the film and its back-story.  The film stars Kelly along with Peter Jae, and UFC Fighter, Ashlee Evans-Smith. Other cast members include The Bay’s Kristos Andrews.

In The Workout, two army rangers set out to create a workout video, but their plans are abruptly halted when a mob hit interrupts their filming. Tragically, one of the rangers loses his wife in the attack, sending him on a relentless mission to take down the mob and anyone who stands in his way.

The film from James Cullen Bressack, almost did not get financed.  Apparently, ten days before his birthday, Bressack made a post on Instagram about the feature and production, casting, and financing came from the post … illustrating the power of social media. After the post gained traction, a producer provided financing and actors expressed interest in joining the project, leading to a quick production.

In a statement, Bressack shared, “As artists a painter paints, a musician makes music, a writer writes, but as filmmakers we have to ask permission to create. It’s time to change that narrative. This film spawned from a necessity to create. We create. We tell stories. We play pretend. I’m excited to take this journey. This is the truest form of collaboration and a community of friends coming together to make something fun. While our industry has had a rough time recently with strikes and a possible strike looming in the future, it’s nice to remind ourselves why we got into film to begin with. To have fun telling stories.”

No word yet on when The Workout will be released.

So, looking forward to seeing this collaborative effort featuring GH’s Josh Kelly? Comment below.
