Jordi Vilasuso is exiting The Young and the Restless and his role of Rey Rosales.  The actor who previously won a Daytime Emmy for Guiding Light and has also appeared on All My Children and Days of our Lives took to his Instagram to announce his departure.

In the post, Jordi expressed a bit about being let go and his new venture, a podcast project with his wife, Kaitlin: “Playing Rey Rosales and being part of the Rosales family was a beautiful chapter in my career. I was proud to represent my culture on daytimes #1 drama and work with an incredible cast and crew that I will miss dearly. Thank you @youngandrestlesscbs for always welcoming me and giving me the opportunity to tell stories that impacted millions. As this door closes, others will and have opened. If you’re interested in hearing a little more about my story, check out our podcast, @makingitwork where @kaitlinvilasuso and share some more details of my exit and dig into embracing change!🙏❤️💪”

Soap Opera Digest also shared a statement from Jordi where, in part, he thanked his scene partner, Sharon Case: “Thank you to Sharon Case (Sharon) and the rest of the cast for their craft, support, and professionalism … The show has been number one and continues to be because of the incredible work ethic and passion from its leadership, cast, production, and crew. I will miss it, remember it fondly, and look forward to what the next chapter will be!”

No word yet on Vilasuso’s last airdate.

So, what do you think about Jordi being out at Y&R? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

I hope Days of Our Lives can bring Jordi Vilasuso back as Dario Hernandez. The Hernandez clan only consists of Rafe and Gabby (with a “y”). I loved how A. Martinez returned, and then they cast the mother and Dario returned, too. I don’t recall the stories happening but then A. Martinez, Jordi Vilasuso and the mother went nowhere.
If DAYS has so some sense, they would bring Jordi back as Dario and pair him up with Ava Vitali. Jordi is a class act. I don’t know much about podcasts, however, the guy needs a paycheck… NBC/DAYS – Bring Jordi back.

NOOOOOOO. He did not work as Dario.

Would love to see him back on Days but I could see him on GH too. Good actor and ridiculously handsome…like makes no sense. Lol

I agree, Drake. GH is desperately in need of same male beauty. Thank goodness for Chase. And I’m soooo tired of Sonny’s glum mug or his Chesire Cat grin that’s supposed to be charming, scary, cute, or all three rolled together.

Chase is definitely holding it down for GH. Unlike Days, where it’s an embarrassment of riches. Eli, Shawn, Xander, nuSonny. Swoon. lol

Rey was best when he was disciplining Mia for acting out they way she used to. So much potential Rey, Mia, Arturo and Lola had. What I wouldn’t give to be entertained like that again! Now we get Mariah and Tessa two months later and still discussing wedding plan ideas! I really enjoyed the Rosales and it’s too bad the last of them Rey is about to leave!

I totally agree that their family was a very fresh and interesting part of Y&R. I thought for sure that the writers were going to put Sharon and Adam together and then Rey and Chelsea together! I’m very disappointed

They all sucked

Such a waste of a charismatic and talented actor. He could light up the screen but was never really given a chance on Y&R by the lackluster writing. He and the viewers deserved better. Wishing Mr. Vilasuso all the best, and shame on Y&R for wasting the opportunity the had with him.

I so agree with this. I first saw him on AMC and have liked him since then. I’m really disappointed with this news. Instead of stupid “back from the dead” storylines and the never ending Tess/Mariah wedding plan talk, it’s sad that the show can’t write for some of the talented cast they have.

Exactly.

Gotta agree here, too, JenW. I’m convinced less planning went into Charles and Diana’s nuptials! Just wish that cute Noah would stop swooning over Tessa. It’s gone from bittersweet to just plain uncomfortable.

I TOTALLY agree.

So are they going to bring Steve Burton and Dylan back? Is that why he was let go? It will be interesting to see.

This GH fan still feels Steve will be back as Jason on GH…

Bet your soul on it. Jason will be back by May sweeps.

So do I Brian. Probably the day after he’s declared dead.

Soaphound
Iam betting on the day Britt finds a boyfriend or Carly and Drew are getting too close.

Why when they get great actors they don’t last what’s going on on the Y/R I’ve been watching it for the last 42 years and don’t miss an episode I have it recording for I can enjoy all five days on my weekends as what happened to Ashland I don’t really enjoy the new actor that is playing Ashland now sorry no offense on the man himself just that the other gentleman was perfect we all make mistakes please reconsider his return and please don’t let go if ray his perfect in his part also thank you

Absolutely
The new Ashland has completely changed the character. I don’t like him at all. Robert Newman plays him like a slimy politician, always pointing his finger at Victoria. They have no chemistry. When Richard Burgi played him you felt some sympathy for him and I wanted him and Victoria to make it! Y n r really blew it when they fired him . Now it s going to be Victor and Billy to the rescue. Again.

As long as they don’t have him have an affair with Chelsea. Ray would never do that. He’s been cheated on before and it is just not in his character. He would not cheat on Sharon and especially not with Chelsea.

Rey has been boring pretty much from day 1. I’m glad he’s leaving.

Michael mealor and Susan Walters back and with the newbie being used for the Abbott story, maybe they needed money so he was expendable. Days should bring him back to beef up the Nicole/Rafe/Ava story.

Yes
Ava and Rafe were sidelined for Nicole and they have no Chem. Opportunity was there to finally give Rafe a lasting love intrest, everyone knows Eric is Nicole’s true love

Damien
Sorry, can’t stand Nicole. Eric is too good for her, but alas they have never found anyone worthy of him. As far as couples go I’m wondering how Chloé’s mom and Ben’s dad ( gosh, can’t remember their names) will work out and how long he can keep her in the dark about his true self?

Rey was a good guy. He never found his niche in the show. Him and Sharon were a horrible match. And, anytime the show makes you a detective, you are toast! Ask Paul Williams!

Y fet rid of jordi. I thought finally some new blood in the marriages. So what now is sharon and nick getting back together

I hate to see him go. I would much rather see Ashton go instead. I really like Jordi. Best wishes.

Lori Brown
I what I read is true, you’ll get your wish soon.

It sucks that they are getting rid of him too! Why???

Chance is going to be the new cop in town. They didn’t need Rey.

Joe
Sorry, Let Chance stay home and rock the baby. They never used Rey, only his shoulder to cry on or his influence at the P.D., people call him boring , that’s the role he was given,, not the “bad boy” he’s meant to play. The other Chance or Dillon would be better than pretty boy Chance they have now. I would never like Rey and Chelsea together either. Sorry Joe, for the rant.

Violet…I think most detectives are wasted in soaps. It wasn’t just Rey, or Chance, but Chase and Dante on GH. And “no” to Rey with Chelsea or Sharon. They just never gave him an interesting role or the right woman. I’m sorry to see him go. Good luck to him.

Can you imagine, Joe, how “tough” Chance will be? A perp will steal his hair gel and he’ll have to take a leave of absence.

One of the most boring characters to ever hit Young and the Restless . Now get rid of Jason Thompson, Melissa Ordway and we will be making some good cuts ! Abby and Billy are the most annoying people on the show . Bring back Mari Jo , Tara , or Patty ! Cast a new Tucker . Merge all of these stupid company’s into three competing company’s it’s too many to care about . And some of these sets look so cheap . Darken the rooms, bring back original music , hire Maria Arena Bell again . The show will take off !

Thank You, George! Jason Thompson has destroyed Billy for me. Billy Miller created a sweet, sexy, flawed, good-hearted screwup that was always lovable. Even Burgess Jenkins had a sense of humor and wildness in the role. This version of Billy is selfish, morose, and seemingly incapable of joy. I’ve read that Woody Allen’s original title for “Annie Hall” was “Anhedonia” — the inability to feel pleasure. That’s Jason Thompson’s version of Billy to a tee.

All the best to Jordi in the future, but his character has been a non-entity for most of his run. Most of his scenes in the last year have been him sitting at Sharon’s coffee house talking. Sharon and Nick are endgame, and it is long past time they were reunited. Nothing else makes sense. To introduce another love interest for either of them just makes them look vapid and desperate. Capitalize on the legacy 28 year history between Nick and Sharon and get them back together. They were a great couple for over ten years when they faced life and obstacles together. Enough with the merry go round romances and keeping them apart just for the sake of keeping them apart. They are better together than apart.

Hé will be missed! Y&R needs more nice people on it! Ray seems to be a stand-up guy!

That’s not good. Rey & Sharon are really happy! What is going to happen with Sharon?

Fawn
Oh come on, all the men know the way to her coffee shop.

LOL, Violet. I was rooting previously for a Sharon and Adam reunion but I’m beginning to like the Sally pairing, as long as old Adam stays in check. Are they really going to do Nick and Sharon AGAIN? I do like them together but not if they’ll just break up in six months. At least Nikki and Victor have had a good, long run this time.

I was really looking forward to Rey and Chelsea! Too bad!

Gee, I hope Rey is not killed in a crash when he takes Conner and his mom to Chicago to the Hockey game.

i am totally disappointed i have watched young and the restless for a very very long time this makes me so mad that now i feel like i will stop watch this show becase of this i have watched this show for 54 years now i am highly disappointed

Kleenex time today. Guess that’s it for the Rosales family on Y&R. I really didn’t want Rey/Jordi to leave, and certainly not the way they ended his time on Y&R.

I will miss him on Y&R..Loved him Sharon as a couple!!

Rosie O’Donnell Says She Will Return to ‘The View’ During its Season 30

Published

By

Rosie O'Donnell

Rosie O’Donnell revealed that she plans to head back to a seat at the table of ABC’s morning talk show The View.

The announcement came during Monday’s episode of The Tangle Podcast where she shared she will participate in “in whatever way they want” her or “just as a guest” for its upcoming 30th season.

The View’s season 30 will kick-off this fall in September. O’Donnell explained, “They’re bringing back all the hosts, I think. And, you know, I’m pretty proud of that show, what it’s become and how it really speaks to the people and to politics.”

Photo: ABC

ROSIE ON HER PREVIOUS GO-ROUNDS ON THE VIEW

As fans of The View know, O’Donnell famously had two different one-year stints on the talk show in 2007 and again in 2014- 2015. She often feuded with then co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

However, during her discussion with host, Kyle Ridley on The Tangle Podcast, O’Donnell also noted she often had tense moments with longtime moderator and anchor, Whoopi Goldberg.

O’Donnell also expressed, “Many, many people got the short end of the stick there. It was, you know, it was a factory where people were being churned in and out and their tenuous security, nobody got to be calm. It also was a show at the time that was run by a man. A show created by a woman, for women, about women, and the man was deciding what we should talk about. And that didn’t sit right with me, you know.”

Back in 2023, Brooke Shields had asked Rosie on her podcast, Now What? with Brooke Shields, about how she felt on her two stints at The View and all the controversy that surrounded it. Rosie at that time, stated, “I know this, it’s not the best use of my talent to get in a show where I have to argue and defend basic principles of humanity and kindness. It was not something I’d ever do again.”

You can check out the clip with Rosie and Kyle Ridley discussing her return to The View in some form for its upcoming 30th season below.

Then weigh-in: Would you be excited to see Rosie, even for a one-day or a week guest stint on the upcoming celebratory season of The View, or not so much? Let us know via the comment section.

Television Academy and NATAS Open Reunification Talks After Split Almost 50 Years Ago

Published

on

By

Emmys

In what could prove to be a massive shake-up ahead, both the TV Academy (ATAS), who presides over the Primetime Emmys, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), who preside over the Daytime Emmys, are in exploratory reunification discussions to merge the two organizations into one.

Both sides received an overwhelming vote and support from their boards to evaluate what a unified Academy could look like. However there is no formal calendar at this juncture for the discussions. In addition, because of the ongoing unification talks that should occur, the TV Academy board has voted to extend all current sitting Governors’ terms by one year so they can see the process through.

Boards at both organizations voted overwhelmingly to evaluate what a unified Academy could make possible: a strong vision for the Academy’s future, more effective thought leadership for the industry, broader service and support for members coast-to-coast, and new momentum and opportunities across the full complement of national Emmy competitions.

Photos: ATAS/NATAS

AFTER NEARLY 50 YEARS, CAN THE EMMYS BE UNDER ONE BANNER?

In a joint statement, ATAS and NATAS shared, “Television remains the most powerful medium we have to shape culture and prompt conversations that define us—no matter the size of the screen, With the business of television undergoing such a monumental transformation, this is the right moment to explore a reunification of our Academies, providing our members and our industry with a bolder voice advocating for them and a stronger partner to navigate the future with them.”

If the reunification talks continue, this would be the first time since the two Emmy organizations split back on June 30, 1977 that they have tried to come together, all of this after almost three decades of often uneasy and strained tension between the two.

The most recent joint change came in 2022 when a move of the game show categories went from NATAS to ATAS’ and now are in the Primetime Emmys.

Deadline notes that a unification of the two television academies who overall preside over nighttime and daytime programming would be similar how SAG and AFTRA used to represent performers from completely different dayparts of work.

Could the Daytime Emmys finally see some love in primetime and have their major categories televised as part of the annual kudofest every September? Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place live on Monday, September 14th starting at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT and air on NBC and stream on Peacock emanating from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. While, the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will take place on Friday, October 30, time to be announced, live from the Hollywood Palladium and will be streamed on watchtheemmys.tv

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) is a service organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. It recognizes excellence in television with the coveted Emmy Awards for News & Documentary, Sports, Daytime and Children’s & Family programming, as well as achievements in television Technology & Engineering.

The Television Academy (ATAS) strives to shape and advance the dynamic television landscape; cultivate a diverse, inclusive and accessible professional community; and advocate for the television industry while capturing the spirit of a new generation of content creators and industry professionals. Through innovative programs, publications and events, the Academy and its Foundation foster and empower storytellers. The Academy also celebrates those who excel in the industry recognizing their achievements through awards and accolades, including the renowned Emmy Award. Membership in the Academy is open to working professionals in the television industry.

So, would you like to see the Primetime Emmy and the Daytime Emmys fold into one show if the two unions reached a unification arrangement? Do you hope that after almost 50 years, the two organizations can finally make some serious headway? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
