Josh Kelly Makes His General Hospital Debut: What Are Your First Impressions of Cody?

By Michael Fairman

After parachuting on to General Hospital on Wednesday’s cliffhanger, on Thursday during the pick-up of the action, we learn that the man that landed in the pool and knocked over a drunken Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) was none other than “Cody”; as viewers welcomed former One Life to Live favorite Josh Kelly (Ex-Cutter Wentworth) to Port Charles.

In story, Britt wants the parachuter arrested and tells Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) who is present at the social mingle party to do so.  However, the man, Cody, looks at Dante and clearly they know each other from the past.  To try to calm things down, Dante hand-cuffs Cody.

Later in the episode as Britt laments about Cody – clearly the two have an attraction to one another – Sam (Kelly Monaco), Dante, and Cody are now at Charlie’s sharing drinks.

Cody reveals he really thought that Dante was taking him into police custody, and thanks him for getting him a change of shirt and out of the party. As the three chat, Dante informs Sam that this is his childhood friend, Cody Bell.

It is clear there are some things from the past that Dante might not be too proud of when Cody adds, “And got in a lot of trouble with.”

So, what do you think of a Cody/Britt potential romance? Excited to see Josh on GH? What do you think went down in the past between Cody and Dante? Share your thoughts in the comment section below. But first, check out these scenes from Cody’s entrance!

Always great to see Josh, looks like his character will be fun

wouldn’t he also know Brooklyn ? didn’t they grow up in the same neighborhood? first impression, don’t really know yet, just glad he’s not the Jason character like some people were speculating, stone cold can be stone boring so I happy Jason isn’t back yet. I know eventually he’ll pop up.

The writers tend to be selective with Brooklyn’s past. It would make sense for her to know Cody, but they could explain it that he and Dante were friends during that period when BLQ and Lois moved back to PC in the early 2000s.

Exactly! There have been repeated references over the years about how close Dante & Brooklynn were back in Bensonhurst, and now this guy shows up in town and she doesn’t know him at all?

Major plot hole brain fart from the writers! Maybe if they spent less time throwing the entire last 30 years of GH under the bus to prop Parasite Nina & the newbie of the week, and a little more time with the actual history of the show, they wouldn’t miss details like that.

Satan…Speaking of Dante, has anyone heard about Lulu lately? Perfect time for her to make her appearance back into Port Charles and add a little more confusion. Did she know about Cody?

One would hope Lulu will be back soon, but the Valentini regime seems to be virulently anti-Spencer. Aside from the rarely seen Bobbie, the only person currently on canvas using the Spencer name is Spencer Cassadine… who’s not a Spencer at all.

They took the name away from Liz’s kids. And while Lucky wasn’t Cam or Jake’s bio-dad, he was their father of record, legally and otherwise, until the short-lived Garin Wolf regime turned him into a pill-popping crybaby, followed by the sick agenda of Valentini & ReRon to replace him with the serial killer who literally kidnapped Aiden when he was a baby.

Carly & her kids all have Spencer DNA, but of course, they don’t use the name. Honestly, if Carly really wanted to hurt Sonny, she could always legally take her family’s name. She definitely wouldn’t ever go by “Benson” again…. even before Psycho Nelle further damaged that name.

So yeah, definitely Lulu needs to be back. So does her brother. As I said before, it would really be great if they showed up for the “Very Special Laura Episode”…. but don’t bet your soul on it.

As far as Cody goes…. Dante’s never mentioned him before, so I doubt Lulu would know about him….. though she might actually be related to him….. something about the way this guy kept saying he was “out west” and definitely knew the name “Sonny Corinthos” (and was surprised to find out he is Dante’s father) leads this Devil to believe that “Cody” might be the son of Cyrus the Virus – because the newbies always have to be related to somebody. And of course, that would make him Lulu’s cousin.

While not impressed or excited by his entrance to GH, too early for how I feel about Cody. But I don’t like how the writers have made Britt look recently about trying to find a love interest. Or being pressured into it. And surely her performance at the pool fund raiser. Not the Britt I was starting to really like.

rose
Certainly agree with you.Didn’t impress me and I sure hope he’s not going to cause trouble with Dante and Sam. He and Britt, was ready to call her Britch the other day will probably get together, though it’s obvious she’s still thinking of Jason.

She, stated on her Twitter account that her character will be written ooc

Nope, didn’t like him before and thought his first day here a disaster. To each his own, of course. His beard is unkempt, his stocky build doesn’t mesh with Britt, his attitude seems arrogant…just not my idea of a leading man. Sorry but you asked.

Just wanted to take off on the stocky build reference which was quite kind. Josh Kelly should always wear a shirt and that’s all I’m going to say. I’m not commenting on weight just chest size.

Soaphound
Well I’m not sorry to agree with you. You sure summed him up good!

Soaphound…Beside his first day being a disaster his stunt of parachuting into the pool was downright dangerous. Whoever hired him to do it should be fired and Cody arrested. What got me was the nonchalance of everyone around the pool including Dante. Britt could have been really hurt.

He is just what we need to bring life to the show..Brit needs some fun and happiness. He is super likeable. Want to see more of him.

I think Cody is a waste of airtime that could be given to, oh, say, Anna, Valentin, Felicia, Laura, Ava, to name a few. The GH cast is way too big already without adding more. There are at least two men (Drew and Austin) that could work with Britt. Why did we need to add more people? Didn’t we just add Dex last month, and where is he?

He says he’s not staying, but I think he will and I feel he might be trouble – possibly for Dante and for Britt!!

Well, Josh Kelly is on contract, so Cody will stick around. With the last name of Bell, internet talk speculates he is Katherine Bell’s unmentioned, never son, perhaps fathered by Mac. Plays with the timeline a bit, but could possibly work.

Steve
Did not know Katherine Bell so Googled her and she sure played the field in P.C, seems like she didn’t miss one male in town. Reminds me of Y&R Diane Jenkins and am very surprised at Mary Beth Evans playing the part, so used to her goody two shoes on Days.

Violet
Despite her questionable morals, Katherine was rather a dull character. Now, if Katherine did have a spawn out there somewhere, as you mentioned, there’s quite a number of “who’s the daddy” possibilities. Although I can’t see them going down the Ned route, that would reignite the brother/sister dynamic between Kelly and Setton which showed so much potential on OLTL.

Just as Katherine remains dead and they don’t recast the role with another soap vet.

Lynne
I feel with he and Dante’s little competition he might set his sights on Sam who hopefully would knock him on his butt.

Pardon me while I yawn.

I have admired josh’s work since his OLTL days. He is very talented and a delight to watch his work. There has been a great deal of body shaming him online for being “TOO HEFTY WITH MAN BOOBS”. This is awful .Sure he was thinner back at OLTL but his “new” look is just fine.
I struggle with BDD and find it really shameful how daytime in particular holds men up to almost impossible standards.I trained with weights for 20 years and ruined my shoulders. I also rowed and damaged my left knee.As a result I can’t do a lot of exercise now.I no longer have the body I had then and have to deal with that everyday. I amn a big daytime fan but I do find most of the shirtless scenes too difficult to watch because I no longer have a “SOAP BODY”. These actors must face incredible pressure to look “SOAP PERFECT”. I don’t know how they have the time to keep their bodies up.I guess they fear that if they develop a “DAD BOD” they may lose their job.

In the end shouldn’t their talent be more important than keeping up this ridiculous standard oF male beauty?

Thank you for your post. I share your thoughts, feelings and observations 100% !

Plus so looking forward to Joah on GH.

Thank you for saying this. GH has featured actors with diverse body types for a long time now. Can’t believe how tacky some of the comments being made are. Imagine the outrage if the women’s bodies were being discussed in such a way.

Greg, so glad to read your comments here. Thank you for sharing your story. I struggle with body issues (largely from diet and getting older) — many of us do.

I have watched these scenes, and I fail to see anything about Josh Kelly that is flawed. And even if there were any perceived “flaws” physically, or for instance, his body mass index indicated some level of obesity, he shouldn’t be held up for scorn or body shaming.

Greg, thank you for elevating this discussion with your personal account. I find the body shaming comments to be as tacky as it gets. Surely these commenters must be Adonis-like specimens themselves to impart such strong opinions.

Drake
We know a lot of the critics are female and the rest are hiding behind what ever device they are typing on. I’ve found out that a lot of people look more like the ones they’re criticizing.

I think that Josh/Cody is a hunk! He looked very, very huggable – and very hot hot hot!! IMHO

He definitely made a splash! Literally and figuratively!

I’ve been studying his photo and while he has this little sly, flirty look,it might also be construed as sneaky.

Something about Cody makes me think he’s hiding something.

Sandie
Touche!

I guess this will be my 2nd,3rd,4th,5th, etc, mpressions of Cody and I am not liking him at all, total jerk!

Grandma here is softening a little bit after today’s show when that goon beat up Cody. I think Britt was too, in spite of herself, bet she’ll take him home with her.
Aside, Carly sure liked what she saw in her pool, they sure prolonged this agony long enough.

His entrance reminded me of another One Life to Live character who dropped into Llanview by parachute… Luna Moody!

They didn’t care to post this the first time, so I’ll try again. Does anyone have an idea what’s going on with Spinelli? Wonder why he’s paying that wad of money to that woman that also hired Cody for his splashy stunt?

Cody acted kind of funny when Brett told him her who her father was. Hmm, brother maybe?

Cody is growing on me. Maybe there is a surprise potential for Cody and Britt after all. Plus I find he’s also been on Hallmark. Right now I am watching him in their Christmas In July series “Christmas Bells Are Ringing.” He cleans up nice.

P.S…This is a night for guys from soaps. Now it Ryan Paevey/ Nathan/GH on Hallmark’s “Coyote Creek Christmas.” He was on another Hallmark last night. Sure beats the daily news. Always good endings.

Hallmark/Soaps continued…Bear with me since I know Hallmark isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and sometimes not mine. But there are times I need stories with good endings. Even as pick-me-ups from the constant drama in soaps. I’ve noticed there always seems to be actors who either had their start in soaps, or later in their career crossed over for a H film or two. Starting today is Lacy Chabert in “Christmas Waltz,” one of my favorites. At one time she was Bianca/Erica’s daughter/ AMC.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

Published

By

Patrick J. Gibbons

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.

However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.

Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG

Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!

Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”

MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL

Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).

Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY

Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”

It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”

A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

Photo: PGibbons

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS

As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”

He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”

Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.

So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.

Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.

Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

Chad Duell

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON

Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”

Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”

When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES

One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”

“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good.  I was working with Dominic  Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.

A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?

As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”

Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.

You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.

Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera? GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ric’s History of Jealousy Where Elizabeth is Concerned Has Come Back Around

Published

on

By

Ric

On General Hospital, Ric Lansing (Rick Heart) is about to fall back into dangerous old patterns by the foreshadowing during the Wednesday, August 19 episode. After first coming to see his brother, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and telling him of his plan to propose to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) his longtime love tonight, Sonny has concerned.

Next, Sonny reminds his brother of what has happened in the past, when things have gone south with Elizabeth and wonders if it’s too soon for him to propose to her. What Ric did not tell Sonny is that he has seen the developing closeness between Sonny’s son, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth, which is propelling his urgent need to propose.

Meanwhile, Dante ran into Elizabeth at the park during a break from their mutual team softball games. She needs help with a bookcase after the game at her house. Dante wants to put it together for her. Later, Dante arrived at Elizabeth’s house, limping after injuring his knee during the game. Head nurse Liz wanted to check out the injury as much as Dante protested, which required him to take off his pants.

RIC BEGINS TO UNRAVEL

Outside Elizabeth’s widow, Ric arrives with a bouquet of roses and the engagement ring. When he leers through the widow he is shocked to see Elizabeth rubbing Dante’s leg while Dante is in his boxer/shorts. He storm troops into the house, demanding to know what is going on here? Both Elizabeth and Dante look surprised by his reaction. In the pick-up of today’s Thursday, August 20 episode (see GH video teaser below), viewers will learn the upshot for all three characters.

A VENGEFUL PAST

As longtime GH fans know, Ric has done some horrible, vengeful things in regards to Elizabeth starting back in 2003 after she lost her baby after Ric’s ex, Faith Rosco pushed her down a flight of stairs. Ric accused Sonny for the accident and to get revenge, Ric kidnapped Carly (who was married to Sonny at the time), and stashed her in a panic room below the house where he was living with Liz.

On top of that, Ric fed his wife Elizabeth birth control pills to keep her from getting pregnant so that they could raise Carly’s baby together after it was born. Eventually, Elizabeth found Carly in the panic room but ended up having a pulmonary embolism. When she woke up in the hospital, Elizabeth was all confused by what happened, and Ric convinced her that her vision of  Carly was just a bad dream. Eventually, Elizabeth learned the horrifying truth and divorced Ric.

Years later, Ric noticed the connection between Elizabeth and “Jake Doe” who eventually turned out to be Drew (Billy Miller) A jealous Ric hired Hayden Barnes to show up and claim to be “Jake’s” wife. Elizabeth stepped aside, and when Ric planned to propose to Elizabeth at the 2015 Nurses Ball, Carly exposed his manipulations, and Elizabeth dumped him yet again. And those are just two examples of the lengths Ric will go to for Elizabeth!

So, we ask you, given the history of Elizabeth and Ric, how do you see this playing out with Dante in the picture? How will Ric derail their growing bond? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
