Joshua Benard Makes a Return to General Hospital
The week of September 11th will bring with it another appearance by Joshua Benard on General Hospital. The son of three-time Daytime Emmy-winning star, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), is back reprising his role of Adam.
Adam is a classmate of Josslyn’s (Eden McCoy) and he will be back on campus and when we last saw him in 2022, he made an off-color comment to Josslyn after the sex-tape of her and Cameron went viral (thanks to Esme). He later realized he was being a complete jerk about it and apologized to Joss.
What will Adam’s demeanor be like in the fall of 2023? Stay tuned. Soap Opera Digest mentioned in their fall preview for GH, that Josslyn gets closer to a schoolmate. Might that be Adam?

Meanwhile, the younger Benard continues both his acting and music career, frequently posting videos on Instagram.
Last year, Maurice has his son, on an episode of his You Tube series, State of Mind, where the two did a deep-dive into Joshua’s passion for acting and music. You can check that out below.
So, looking forward to seeing Joshua back in Port Charles? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
Can we please cut out the nepotism on this show? This character adds nothing to the already bloated canvas.
So we now have Gregory Harrison’s daughter, Josh Swickard’s wife and Maurice Benard’s son? (To be fair, so far I really like Gregory’s daughter as the surrogate.) But seriously in any other industry, this much blatant nepotism would be grounds for an investigation!
And don’t forget Kin Shriner’s gal pal and the four insufferable years of the guy from the parking lot.
Oh, I don’t count Wes Ramsey in this group. As you (maybe) could tell from my username, I was a longtime “Guiding Light” fan and knew Ramsey’s work. He’s an established actor with actual soap cred. I didn’t object to his performance like others do though I believe he was poorly directed to camp it up more than necessary. Playing Peter was not indicative of his other soap and movie work.
I really liked his work and character on GL, what a difference huh, from playing pukey Peter?
Let’s look at this as the youngsters learning from the older actors.
Aren’t fathers suppose to help there children?
Most definitely
Their children
Shh … shush .. shush..
“Shh…” Not sure what your intent is with that.
Joshua is a cutie like his father. If him on the show as Adam means less Joss and Dex nauseating scenes that I have to fast forward through, I’m all for it. I hate the way they’ve written Joss since she got together with Dex. I liked her with Oscar, liked her with Cameron, can’t stand her these days.
Agreed. Another holier-than-thou, missy—like the character’s mother, Carly—follow the leader.
I still think there’s a familial link between Dex and Sonny.
I felt from the beginning that Dex might be Sonny’s son but there have been so many rumors claiming otherwise Jason for one, that I’ve just given up guessing.
I know, Violet—but even if Dex is Jason’s son, there would still be a link between him and Sonny.
What’s puzzling is the fact Dex had all this unleashed rage for Sonny, for a long time—-working for Michael to destroy him. Perhaps, Sonny is his father and Dex resents him for abandoning whoever his mother is?
I don’t know where this rumor started that Dex was “Jason’s son”, but there’s no way on Earth or in Hell that’s even a remote possibility.
We know where Jason Morgan was from the time of his brain scrambling in 1996 to his first supposed “death” in 2012. During that time he fathered two children. Jake with Elizabeth, and Danny with Sam.
Dex appears to be roughly the same age as Morgan Corinthos. Yeah, SORASing messes with ages all over the place, but if we assume the age to be correct, then the only woman Jason was with around that time period was Courtney Matthews (Sonny’s sister). And Courtney only had one child, Spencer. She literally died the day he was born, due to a bioweapon-caused pandemic.
I suppose they could really stretch reality and claim that Jason fathered a child somehow when he was a drugged up zombie, held prisoner in Russia. But that child would be younger than Danny, so that couldn’t be Dex.
The most obvious explanation for Dex is that he’s a brainwashed & facially reconstructed Morgan Corinthos… even with the obvious “ick” factor that he’s been banging his own sister for several months now. It’s not like that’s never happened on daytime TV before (see Tommy & Marie Horton or Tony & Renee DiMera on Days of Our Lives, for example). Yes, the whole family will probably need therapy once this secret comes out, but in context, it’s exactly the type of thing a sadistic criminal like Lorenzo Alcazar would do, as part of a revenge plot against the Corinthos family.
Hey Satin
Here’s a new rumor about Dex I just read last night. Chew on this one and let us know what you think.. They say he’s an undercover cop, how about that?
I was not surprised today when there was no evidence against Sonny. I had also read that the crates were full of coffee, and also Sonny wasn’t in the least worried about his fate.
The coffee beans in the crates were so obvious I saw that coming from 666 miles away. Basically what happened here is that Sonny and his “technical advisor” Brick ran a sting operation of sorts, using that fake “evidence” they planted on Sonny’s laptop for the fake nanny “Betty Rutherford” (probably not her real name) to find, and turn over to her bosses in the Pawtuck Mafia.
Cyrus took the bait… sent the fake “evidence” to the Feds (apparently with the assistance of the prison warden) and the Feds were gullible enough to believe it was real.
Where Dex fits in to all of this… I’m not sure about that one yet. He sure looked disappointed… maybe even a bit angry when Sonny walked away from the bogus charges. I don’t think he’s an undercover cop though, because he’s already proven on multiple occasions that he can’t properly use a gun. Which is also why I don’t believe he’s an actual military combat vet, and was probably brainwashed with that backstory.
It’s time for you to finally give up on the Dex is Morgan theory. Maybe Dex is just another Sasha – no real connection to the canvas.
Except this guy shows all the signs of a brainwashed plant, embedded deliberately into the Corinthos organization to cause chaos. His alleged backstory of “military combat vet” doesn’t hold up at all, as he’s very sloppy with guns, and got knocked on his ass at least twice now by Spencer, who’s basically a spoiled rich kid with no formal training.
He doesn’t necessarily have to be Morgan, but I can’t think of anybody else who could be used by this yet unseen enemy so effectively to infiltrate the Corinthos clan from within. As I said, this would be exactly the type of thing Lorenzo Alcazar would do, and I still say he’s the one behind “Pikeman”.
Well, I for one can’t wait to find out and somehow I don’t think he’s a bad guy. I like him and am hoping he’s one of the good guys. Thanks for all your input by the way.
If the writers can make Cody Mac’s son even when we saw Dominque during the entire time she was supposed to be pregnant, they could shoehorn Dex to be AJ and Courtney’s son. Just as long as she never returns as a regular character. Before Heinrik, she was the one character who should’ve departed years before they finally finished her off. If Dex is the offspring of AJ & Courtney, he’s be both Michael’s bio brother and (adopted) cousin. Just don’t make him Jason’s son as there’s no payoff in that and Jason never had time for his other 2 sons.
Of course if Dex were Courtney’s son, he would also be Spencer’s brother, and they already hate each other, so that would be a standard soapy trope thing.
Only problem is that Courtney was in Port Charles the whole time she was with AJ and then with Jason and wasn’t pregnant. At least with Dominique she was supposedly locked up in the nuthouse when she was pregnant, so it’s remotely plausible… in the same sense that Susan Moore having twins was plausible, because nobody actually saw Jason being born.
If Courtney had a child which was stolen by AJ, she definitely would have told Sonny & Jason about it.
What if Dex turns out to be Karen and Jagger’s son???? That would be a pretty big grudge against Sonny for turning his Mom into a stripper and drug addict. And I know that Karenand Sonny and Jagger hugged it out on GH and Port Charles but a long lost kid….
Would he have that role if he had no family on the show? I doubt it. Not fair to the other struggling actors who have no family connection. Should be no family rule like many businesses have.
Give the young man a chance! How do you know he’s only on the show because of his father? What if he is by recommendation of his father? He’ll still have to prove himself anyway.
That’s right
I think it depends on what role his father played in Joshua’s hiring. Is GH aware of Joshua because Maurice, but did he then have to audition along with other actors? I think that’s okay because people hear about jobs in all sorts of ways, including family and friends. Did they just hand him the role without requiring an audition? That leans more toward your concerns.
Also, most businesses rule about family is that one family member can’t directly supervise another. But many, many businesses have more than one family member working for them.
B&B should hire him as Jack Marone, Brooke’s son with Nick. He would be excellent as a rival for his half-brother, R.J. (who is in desperate need of a story).
R.J is helping his Granddad out with his designing, SL will be interesting I think. I also think it will be as a last resort if they ever bring Jack into the show, it’s like he never existed. Poor guy, it was only a mistake that they used Brooke’s egg, creating Jack.
OMG, here we go again. Related or not, if a person can do the job well, what’s the harm? My Granddaughter and her husband own a pretty big business and wanted nothing more than for their children to join and maybe someday run the company. My Grt.granddaughter was hired and much to her own surprise is doing great and my Granddaughter’s brother is also part of the Co. .also doing a great job. BTW, there do not seem to be any resentment s among their co-workers.
I actually like him—something very endearing about him. Absolutely simpatico .
Me too Celia, he’s a doll!
Back to GH. I got so scared today when Jake wanted to hang back at Carly’s place. Thought he had his eyes on Esme but it turned out to be Charlotte.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
