Justin Hartley Talks ‘This Is Us’, Status With Y&R & His Engagement To Chrishell Stause!

Tuesday at the Television Critic’s Association (TCA) Summer Press Tour, NBC’s This Is Us was unveiled to the media with a panel featuring its creator Dan Fogelman, producers, and the ensemble cast which features The Young and the Restless, Justin Hartley (Adam Newman) in the pivotal role of Kevin – a professional actor. Fogelman described the series “like a dramedy version of Lost, where you have to understand how everyone’s connected and then explore these people as we move forward.”
Following the panel, Hartley spoke to the press and below are some of the highlights regarding his status with Y&R, while filming This Is Us, his recent engagement to actress Chrishell Stause (Bethany, Y&R), and the buzz on his new primetime series that already features the most watched trailer in facebook history for a new show.
Justin on working on This Is Us and how it might effect filming Y&R: “I’m going to have to do this for a little bit here. There’s a definitely a break (at Y&R). I don’t know if I can (do both shows). I try to stay out of that, and gladly don’t wear that hat. I’m on all three networks … for the moment. Mistresses is on tonight. I think if I remember correctly, when I talked to CBS about doing Y&R; they agreed to let me do Mistresses. When this came down the pike, my friend Michael Rady gave me the script and said, ‘You’ve got to read this thing.’ I knew I had to do it. I knew I needed to do everything I could possibly do to try to get this part. This show is so special. The episodes I’ve read are just getting better, if that’s possible. I ’m in love with it so I knew I had to do it.”

Justin on if there are wedding bells immediately in his and fiancee’s Chrishell Stause future, and what happened when he popped the question: “We don’t have a (wedding) date. It just happened, but it will be sometime in the next 10 to 12 years. (Laughs), but it will be coming up in a year or so, probably. I proposed on one knee like you’re supposed to. It was my right knee, and I was lucky enough to have her say, ‘yes’. We have sort of an inside ‘thing’ in our relationship that I sort of circled back to, and I think she got a kick out of that. Chrishell and I are fortunate enough because as actors we have a lot of downtime, sometimes. So, you do a lot of traveling, but I thought “let’s do this where we live.’ It was perfect. ”
Justin on working with his major This Is Us scene partner Chrissy Metz (Kate) and the relationship between Kevin and Kate. “I got a wonderful opportunity to read with her. I think it was a sort of a whirlwind, but I think at that point I had the job. It’s kind of nice when you are in that situation, because usually you are the one vying for the job and it’s all about that. But when you are sitting there knowing you have the job, you can sort of watch the other actor in person and I thought, ‘Wow! This girl is fantastic. I hope they make the right decisions.’ They have just been amazing with the casting. Every single thing they have done with the show is top-notch, and the network has been fantastic, and the studio has been wonderful. I am curious to see what they do with the Kevin and Kate’s relationship. I know a few things and they are wonderful, but something’s got to give, so we shall see.”

Justin on working with guest stars Katey Segal (Sons of Anarchy) and Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) who play a high-powered agent and a television network president, respectively, and who are both involved in Kevin’s career following his meltdown incident in the pilot episode: “I have not worked with Brad yet, but I believe that is coming up at the end of this week. Katey is fantastic. She’s like me. She likes to run things over and over again. I just don’t think you can run the lines or a scene too many times. I’m a big fan of that. Every take with her was a little bit different. She goes off on her own little rant to me, and every time was a little bit different and she is such a pro. It’s such an editing nightmare when you have to pick one take when there are so many good ones. So, I would not want to be in that room, but what a great experience. I have worked with people (on the soaps and other shows) who have been doing their jobs for a long, long time. It’s always interesting to see those people who still have that enthusiasm, and she’s one of them. ”
Justin on the sensation of the trailer of This Is Us: “I don’t know what 90 million views looks like, but that’s very humbling. Everything about that trailer is perfect. The pride I take it in it is that I can honestly tell people the show is better than the trailer. ”

Justin on how at the screening there were tears in the audience: “Yeah, there were tears. People cry at the trailer. There are so many things this show touches on life wise; a relationship, or work, or losing a child or a parent, not feeling wanted, or feeling guilty about something, or feeling like you missed an opportunity. We’ve all gone through that stuff, and I just love the fact that every single one of us has had different life experiences obviously and we are all different sexes, religions, who knows. There is something for all of you in This Is Us. I’m not kidding. ”
Justin on if Kevin’s on set meltdown scene was inspired by anyone or an incident in his real-life career: “I love what I have chosen to do as a career. I’ve been lucky enough to fool many different people in to hiring me. (Laughs) But I do take it seriously and it’s a lot of fun, but there are times when you run up against someone who wants to just finish something quickly, or doesn’t see it your way ,and maybe you butt heads. It’s part of the creative process, but in real life I have never done anything close to that. It was a bit cathartic though. (Laughs)”
Justin on what the weekly production and work schedule is for him on This Is Us: “We do 8 production days, and I will work on average 4 of those days. We have such a big ensemble cast which is nice as well.”
So, are you hoping that Justin will appear on This Is Us and Y&R? Are you looking forward to his leading role on the new NBC primetime series? What did you think about Justin’s proposal to his lady love Chrishell Stause? Comment below, but first, just in case you have not seen it in previous posts, watch the trailer for the series below.
YES I WANT HIM ON BOTH.
There’s no way JH would stay on Y&R permanently. He was going to return to Primetime. The role of Adam Newman will have to be recast or written off.
I LOVED HAYDEN TANK’S THE CHILD ADAM ,I QUIT WATCHING WHEN BRAD DIED,I returned to Y& R when I heard that they were bringing a adult Adam ,but didn’t like CE’S ADAM ,Returned when MM came ,loved him ,I also really like JH ,,,THERE IS NO WAY THEY WILL BE LUCKY FOR THE 4TH TIME ,NO WAY COULD I SEE AIDEN TURNER AS ADAM ,THEY NEED TO KEEPJH OR BRING MM BACK ,IF ADAM ‘S WRITTEN OFF ,I COULDN’T BARE TO SEE A CETAIN ACTOR WHOM I WON’T NAME ,WITHOUT JH OR MM,
I can’t to see Justin on his new show it look veer good also see him on mistress too I love him on it he can do lesser time on y&r don’t see why he can’t do that real happy for him and Chrishell they are they cutest couple if be foolish on the y&r people the writers part uf fhey don’t wait and see if this is us after the season is over to see if it pick up it done then Justin can do Adan back full time
Wow I just can’t watch this trailer too many times. I love that it’s on Tuesday nights cuz it won’t conflict with anything. What a terrific cast!!!
He will never be Adam to me but wish him nothing but the best don’t watch nighttime tv only watch Netflix but hope it works out for him!
MM was Adam period! BUT, Braeden doesnt like him so he will not return! I rarely watch night time TV either. I will give this a whirl though. Justin kind of compares it to LOST. Well, if it gets that freaky, I’m out!
If it is all possible for him and if he feels up to it then I believe Justin should give it his best to do both shows.
ITA! Love Justin and he should do both if he can for the long term.
I love him to and I do hope he does both shows. That way we can see more of this great guy.
I am SO hoping that Justin is able to do both shows. Adam is, by far, my favorite part of the show.
He is the best part of the show for sure!
i can not wait to see this show!!!
He is too good to stay on Y&R. I knew when he was hired he would not be there for a long period.
No they just changed the charter to please EB makes me want to vomit
Character
Very true. Braeden couldn’t tolerate Muhney’s talent & character overshadowing his tired act that could be done by a wax dummy. The show has suffered ever since Phelps fired Muhney & Miller.
If this show is the hit they think it will be then eventually I cannot see him doing both shows. Adam is a major character and writing around his schedule might be okay in the short term but over time depending how the night time gig goes, they might need to recast the part. But for now, until they know if this new show becomes a hit or flop, he is best to juggle both– plenty of shows are hyped by critics and media as the biggest thing but the ratings just don’t pan out– the YouTube hits aren’t a real measure of success– it could be one person watching the trailer 9 million times, not 9 million people watching it once–so for now it is just a wait and see thing– but I wish him well.
Haven’t read all the comments but agree with this.
Please don’t leave Y&R!!!! Adam is the best with Victor!!
I have posted on Justin’s facebook page and on twitter many times that ‘I need my Adam’. Justin literally ‘saved’ the character Adam on Y&R. I have heard ‘the higher ups’ at Y&R really like Justin. Mal Young likes Justin. I really, really, really would love Justin to stay on at Y&R because primetime shows get cancelled all the time. He can do both shows because he will not be in every single scene of every single episode of ‘This Is Us’.
That’s not the way they shoot Primetime series. They are much more labor intensive than soaps. Primetime shows take up to 10 days to shoot one episode, while a week worth of soaps is shot in 4 days. JH will not be able to “juggle” both shows as a lead actor. That’s why he’s leaving Y&R, for a better gig and more money. Get over it.
No Where in the Michael Fairman Interview did Justin say “I’M LEAVING Y&R’ Why, because he is on contract! Y&R does not comment on an actors status either. He did say he was going to be doing ‘both’ for a little while. He also said he does not make those decisions! Actors can go from network to network these days whereas years ago they could not. No one knows how popular this primetime show will get and they do get cancelled all the time. Makes no sense to leave a steady paying daytime job for a primetime show that no one knows how long it will last. If I have any further questions, I will ask my very close friend who knows people ‘higher up in the food chain’ than the actors, which I think I just might do.
LOL, you think you know-it-all. Hilarious. He’s no longer under contract with Y&R or he wouldn’t be doing a Primetime show for NBC. Phelps refused to sign Billy Miller for this same reason. What planet are you on Donna? Hartley is done with Y&R, deal with it. Next.
I don’t ‘Know it all’, but Actors CAN DO OTHER SHOWS! Tristan Rodgers and Eileen Davidson to name a couple. Oh, lets not forget Hunter King who plays Summer. Darn it, I forgot one Steve Burton. General Hospital lost him and Tristan because they refused to let them do other projects while under contract. Y&R’s gain General Hospital’s loss! My very close friend answers my questions like this. So, you have a marvelous day Frankie! I know what I know and I’m not going to explain it to people who refuse to be civil to others.
So true. Justin Hartley is doing Primetime on NBC, not CBS. A competing network isn’t going to let an actor appear on an ongoing basis on another network. BTW, CBS wouldn’t let Billy Miller persue other jobs, so Jill Farren Phelps let him go.
Y&R get ready… he’s outta there!
I just love Justin’s acting on Y & R and Mistresses. He is one of those few actor’s that come on a soap and you just know from the beginning he’s going places.I truly believe in him and as I said a couple of years ago I can see him in Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise. Remember the name Jeremy Renner meant nothing till he was on M.I.#4 now he can pick & choose his movies and that is what I see for Justin Hartley. Congratulation’s on your engagement as well.
Jeremy Renner was VERY well known before MI4. He was nominated for 2 Academy Awards a few years before MI4 for both The Hurt Locker, an The Town, and was in a ton of films before that too. Just sayin…
J Beer Thank you for telling me. I did watch those movies but I thought they came after his first MI appearance. However J.H. still makes me think of someone like him who will make it big & pick his own movies.
Hmmm…a well written show…character driven…with no need for gun violence, explosions, back from the dead characters, etc, etc, etc…just honest, messy human emotion. Soap writers…WATCH THIS SHOW AND LEARN HOW ITS DONE!!
He is gone! Justin is a mega talent! Nothing against Y&R but his night time shows will send him off into mega stardom! I like the guy and will watch this.
Y&R? I would keep him in jail and not show him for a while. He wants this anyway. Until they find the perfect recast, I wouldnt dick around like they did with Billy. Billy should have been off screen after Miller left. Dont screw Adam up! I would introduce the new Adam in jail, back to the camera, he turns around, YES it is Nick Stabile who recently did a fabulous job filling in for Tyler Christopher on GH!
OMG! I am so with you on the recast suggestion of Nick S.!! That is, if they have to do so when JH becomes a major star. If GH were smart they would sign Nick S. like yesterday before Y & R comes calling!
Justin is a key player in the new shows ensemble cast. I dont see how he could do Y&R full time. Adam is a full time character. I hate to see him go but NS would be awesome. He could handle the Mustache!
I would agree with you, Timmmy, if Stabile were younger. Remember, Adam is supposed to be younger than his brother, Nick on Y&R.
I adore Nick Stabile, you know that….but, not as Adam, he looks his age, as gorgeous as he is!!
I knew this would come up! I agree but you know C, we are asked to accept so many different scenarios on Y&R, this wouldnt be the worst! One of THE worst was Marco. I had fun with seeing Peter Bergman loosen up but there is NO way Marco is an exact duplicate of Jack and there is no way no one in his family, especially Phyllis wouldnt know Marco wasnt Jack. UNLESS, they practice Amish sex?
@Timmm.
LOL, Timmmy. You got me….What is Amish sex? I’m serious. I have no clue how the Amish do it. HaHaHa.
Anyway, I remember we two talking about how could a woman (Phyllis) be soooo intimate with her man and not know the difference? That was dumb, you’re right, albeit Phyllis did notice a change in ‘sexual habits and protocol’……Marco, in the guise of Jack was much friskier.
And, yes, we are to do a double and triple take many times on soaps….including sorased kids. But, I don’t know if I have ever encountered this situation before; where siblings’ ages are ‘out of order’.
Nonetheless, again, you are right. TPTB will do whatever they please, if it suits their purpose.
@Rose.
Believe me, Rose, you would have loved Billy Miller as Billy A……No resemblance, in character, to Jason Morgan.
I have said this a million and one times, no matter how rotten Billy Abbott became; we just accepted him, regardless. Jason Thompson’s Billy falls waaaay short of BM’s magnetic and enigmatic representation of the character.
The spoiled brat, whiny, recalcitrant man-child behavior nuBilly is displaying, is not well executed by JT. He is not very charismatic, in my opinion. No sex appeal. Coupled with Gina? Even worse.
Is Nick Stabile younger than 39? I remember when Justin and Lindsay took a family leave from Passions when Isabella was born and Nick Stabile was Justin’s temporary replacement.
@SiteAdvocate61.
I see your point. Stabile is about seven years older than Hartley. However, personally, I think Justin has a youthful appearance. Not Nick S.
I suppose if Nick were to dye his hair….hmmmm, maybe. Too much of a salt and pepper hue to his hair, as it is.
Justin is an amazing actor and deserves his prime time show. I wish him all the best. But I hope this will open the door for Michael Muhney to come back to Y&R and take the role of Adam Newman on again.
Micheal is the real Adam Newman, he should come back. Justin is good but not the real Adam
If Michael Muhney returned to Y&R as Adam Newman, the internet would blow up. The show would see a surge of interest from so many fans that have turned it off. CBS would see a ratings bonanza too.
You have any idea who this character was??? He was dark he was in his mark JH is pretty but he is not Adam
The same could be said for Jason Thompson, Kay. I cannot take much more of his representation of Billy.
Celia/k/Kay…Wasn’t watching Y&R when Michael was on. Came on board about the time of the “scandal” so I have no vested interest in him. So I’m okay with Justin. BUT as “boring” and lack lustre as life can be for a GH doctor at times, I way preferred Patrick at GH. Now I’m playing catchup on Billy. But I do know I don’t like how they are writing Billy for Patrick. Don’t like the character very much.
I agree K but I support Justin as Adam because we have seen the cluster that IS Billy! This Adam’s “Man Marbles” are in Chelsea’s purse! BUT, he is a good actor and it could have been a lot worse!
I know Timm just mad that Pratt has changed every character no offense to JH he seems like a lovely person not his fault about the writers should not have taken it out on him
You are so right, Kay. I love Michael Muhney….not so much ‘his’ Adam, albeit he brought the character to the roof-tops. Michael played Adam like a violin. His exemplar acting could not get any better, in my opinion.
Michael’s Adam was a dangerous, dark, duplicitous, back-stabbing cad. Justin’s Adam is completely different.
Perhaps this Adam is the reborn product whom Michael’s Adam strove to achieve, as he was on that path when he left.
Talk about changing a character’s persona, Kay. I don’t even recognize Paul anymore. Why has he been turned into such a cynic? It’s ridiculous….then again, he follows Cricket’s lead.
I suppose as soap watchers, we need to see antagonism between the characters for the sake of drama.
Hey Celua u have been mean towards JH he can’t help they watered down the character I will back off but MM is nit coming back too much bad blood went down but no we don’t need another recast . I miss the edge and he had a lot of history with Sharon and they never explored that but hey if they are happy with CO their business. But to base a story around a 75 year old who mumbles thrust his lubes bad businee
I have no clue what you are implying, Kay. LOL.
I love Justin Hartley. I have since his PASSIONS days. I was giving an analogy. Being mean? I gave my ‘take’ on their individual performances and how excellent they both are, albeit in a different way.
I suppose you misread, dear friend. There is not one word I said about Justin which justifies what you have said to me.
Sorry, I wasn’t more specific. Later.
Still have a hard time having him as Adam. Wish him well maybe Y&R will Bering back MM. Hope hope
justin , so happy for u n christell, love her on days as jordan and can not c u not playing adam anymore but u must do what u have too. good luck to u .
I gave up on Y&R a long time ago…This is Us looks like it will be a good show, I will watch it when it begins and hopefully it’s great where I will want to continue to watch.
Justin Hartley wasn’t planning to stay on Y&R. He got his publicity by following Michael Muhney as Adam Newman and is returning to Primetime. NBC will block any return to a CBS soap.
I want Justin on both shows of course, hate to lose him as Adam!!!
However, as long as he’s on TV… I’m happy!!
Justin Hartley is truly a gifted actor of the likes I haven’t seen in years!!!!
HE WILL WIN OSCARS MARK MY WORDS!!!!
He’s today’s De Niro in my opinion and De Niro is my all time favorite!!!
I can’t imagine anyone else playing Adam. Maybe they can cut back on his schedule and he can stay on Y&R.
Why would a new show trying to succeed let Hartley do another show on another network? Really people, you don’t have a clue do you?
I know Daisy. We all love Justin that much…LOL.
But, it would not make sense to start a new show and then cut back his hours? Especially, if he is the main protagonist.
I think the opposite would hold more substance…..that is, stay on Y&R on limited time.
Unless he stays in jail and is rarely seen, no, he is done and a new Adam will be needed. I suggest Nick Stabile who recently did a knock out job substituting for Tyler Christopher.
That’s a great premise, Timmmy. Just keep Adam in jail for a while. But, the story will lose stamina after a while.
AND I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THIS IS US!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’M ALREADY HOOKED!!!!!
WHEN A TRAILER MAKES YOU CRY YOU KNOW YOU’VE GOT SOMETHING AWESOME!!!!
Wow this show looks great !
I’m looking forward to the show. Justin is a great actor and this looks like a good role. I always liked Milo Ventimiglia on GILMORE GIRLS so that’s a plus also. ANYTHING but another reality show! Just out of curiosity, how is a pre-scripted program a reality show anyway?
Justin Harley’s version of Adam Newman was very superficial and had no inner turmoil that made the character so compelling. He did a good job, but he never reached the levels that Michael Muhney did. Just watching old tapes of Muhney on YouTube still bring chills. If Mal Young were really going to set Y&R back on the path to greatness, then he should get Muhney on the phone and get him back on the show. My Lord, the internet would explode and Y&R would get huge publicity + ratings.
Right on Frankie!
Agree, Frankie!
MM back would be awesome.
MM is not coming back! There were many things that happened ‘Behind the scenes’ that the public does not know about and no i’m not filling people in..
Oh brother, here comes the slander and smears by a trashy gossip monger who trolls the internet. Amazing how gullible people are, then readily spread lies. What garbage.
Agreed, Frankie. You said it all concisely and perfectly.
@Donna.
Yes, much went on behind the scenes. But, we were not privy to anything then, nor are we now.
There is something inherently wrong to jump on the band wagon; especially when none of us was there.
This is condemning someone to the guillotine without knowing the facts. It’s the 21st Century, not the Dark Ages.
Michael Muhney is a married man with young children whose lives have been turned upside down. We have no right to say one negative word. I hope he and his family are in a good place. And, I wish he could come back, albeit on shaky grounds. But the prospect of a return is null and void. I think it would be like reaching for the stars.
This sensitive situation is something with which is hard to reconcile. It will happen when two Sundays come together….which is never. Pride does come into play.
I try to respect other people’s private lives; especially when their dirty laundry is publicly aired. Not fair.
And I love Eric Braeden but if he is the one who stands in Muhney’s way, fire him and take his little dog Toto [Summer] with him!
Too funny, but true, Timmmbo!!!!
Everybody needs to get past MM I do not know what went down but several actors lost my respect you don’t kiss and tell as they say but they did the escalated a internet gossip and hurt both parties in the process. Maybe we need to shelve the character for a long while I am truly sick of Adam and Chelesea the repeat conversations are tiresome. We get it your friends off screen who gives a bloody hell
If JH leaves, could we PLEASE hire Michael Muhney back as Adam? He was superb in the role.
Congratulations on his engagement.
I have seen promos for his new show and it doesn’t interest me.
I don’t want him to leave Y&R.
Not into the “This Is Us” kind of stories, but nice to see Justin has options. But between a choice of sitting in jail all day, kissing Chelsea a lot, and arguing with Victor it doesn’t seem a big decision to me about which show has more potential for him.
Hey Rose…his new show has a great cast including Milo Vemtimiglia…another good actor and alumni of one of my all-time favorite shows for charm and wit alone, Gilmore Girls. Sooooo loved that quaint little town and its characters.
Outlander renewed for AT LEAST two seasons with hints of many more. Incredibly happy about that!
Great to hear about Outlander. Yea!
There is a GILMORE GIRLS revival starting in November (Netflix). I can’t wait!!!!
….supposed to have been taken place in the Hartford, CT area (then, and now), which I know very well. Loved the show….I will love it more as a more ‘mature’ woman….LOL.
He’s totally leaving Y&R!! This show is a watcher for sure! And certainly will be on for years!
Bravo to you Justin!! Congratulations xoxo
If Justin Hartley is leaving the role of Adam, and I think this could all be rumors and not fact but just in case, here are the four people I’ll accept in the role.
Michael Muhney
Trevor St John
John-Paul Lavoisier
Aiden Turner.
Again, love Trevor, Softjohn….but, he looks too old for the role. I think Aiden could work….needs to lose the Brit accent, though….LOL.
Or maybe Burgess Jenkins Ha ha ha!
Aiden Turner??? Not available. He’s the lead in the BBC-PBS show “Poldark” and I believe in the running to play James Bond! So gorgeous…
That’s right!!! Forgot about POLDARK. YUP…..hot, hot, hot!!!!
Congrats to you Justin on your up and coming wedding.Whatever you choose to do I will be happy of course I would love it if you did both shows.Gosh you are so handsome and sexy.oh ya and a great actor too.
Not a fan of AT, too dark like the new Ridge on B & B. JH is perfect, manly but really good looking and great actor, IMO. I liked MM ok until the story broke about sexual harassment. Not saying it is true or not but it came from somewhere.
Days Of Our Lives
‘Brilliant Minds’ Officially Canceled After 2 Seasons at NBC; DAYS Alum Al Calderon, OLTL Alum Teddy Sears and Zachary Quinto Among the Cast
After languishing on the bubble for months, on Friday, NBC handed down the decision and canceled the medical drama Brilliant Minds after two seasons.
Brilliant Minds stars Zachary Quinto as neurology physician Oliver Wolf, who’s character and the series is inspired by the life and books of neurologist. Oliver Sacks. The series focuses on the medical mysteries of the mind, as Wolf a larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns explore the last great frontier, the human mind, while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.
The final six episodes of what will now be the end of its second and final season were already set to air beginning on May 27, after being pulled off the network schedule in February as viewership saw a steep decline. Brilliant Minds second season became the lowest-rated drama on linear TV viewing, which didn’t bode well fo a network renewal, although it had its hard core fan base.

Photo: NBC
There are some exceptional notables in the cast along with the talented Quinto that includes Days of Our Lives alum, Al Calderon (ex-Javi Hernandez) who joined the series in its second season as Nurse Nico Silva, and One Life to Live alum, Teddy Sears (ex-Chad Bennett) who plays Wolf’s love interest and fellow physician, Dr. Josh Nichols.
The rest of the talented cast includes: Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Donna Murphy, John Clarence Stewart, and Brian Altemus.
In an ironic twist of fate on Thursday, April 30, Days of Our Lives finally revealed the actor who was Al Calderon’s successor in the role of Javi, when they announced that actor Jacob Martinez had now stepped into the role. Since DAYS tapes ten months ahead of streaming new episode, Calderon left in the spring of 2025, but will be seen in the part for the final part this month, and then on June 20, Martinez debuts as Salem’s new Javi.
Taking to his Instagram with a sorrowful and heartfelt post on the Brilliant Minds cancellation was Teddy Sears who wrote, “Thank you, Brilliant Minds. I got the call today and I didn’t want to hear, but I knew that it would come, You have to be a particular vintage to quote Don Henley from memory, but that’s the line that came to mind earlier today after I got off the phone with our inimitable showrunner Michael Grassi who delivered the news that NBC has cancelled the series”.

Photo: NBC
Sears continued, “To say that I feel sad to be moving on from these stories, this character, and this cast and crew just doesn’t paint the entire picture. I’m sad, sure. But I’m also deeply grateful that I got hired to play this part, so proud of the stories we told, and the other actors I got to play alongside. I’m excited to see what comes next, what adventures await, and terrified to be without a professional home. A quick and heartfelt thank you to everyone, all over the globe, who found us and found themselves in us, in our characters and in our stories. We wouldn’t have been able to tell them without you. And we still have 6 fresh episodes yet to air, and I do hope you tune in enjoy the remainder of the series. They’re the best we’ve done.”
As he wrapped up his sentiments, Sears signed off with, “The more I know, the less I understand. All the things I figured out I have to learn again. I’ve been trying to get down to the heart of the matter. But everything changes…Thank you, Brilliant Minds.”
The medical drama was created and executive produced by Michael Grassi alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Jasmine Russ, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis and Shefali Malhoutra.

On the heels of the news that he is set to debut this month in the role of Joe Fitzpatrick on General Hospital, who is rumored to be a new love interest for Lucas Jones (Van Hansis), comes the news that Bennett’s reality series, Finding Mr. Christmas has received 3 nomination for the Critics Choice Real TV Awards.
Bennett’s Hallmark Channel series finds itself in tough competition alongside fellow nominees: RuPaul’s Drag Race (MTV), Squid Game: The Challenge (Netflix), Survivor 50 (CBS), Top Chef (Bravo) and The Traitors (Peacock). In addition, Jonathan himself is nominated for Best Show Host and the series participants as the Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series.
The Critics Choice Association (CCA) revealed the nominees for the eighth annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards on Thursday, which recognize excellence in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms. Taking to his Instagram to celebrate the nominations, GH’s Bennett, enthused, “3 Critic Choice Nominations! I’m so proud of the FINDING MR CHRISTMAS and to be in the company of all the legends in all these categories is so surreal! Congrats to Hallmark Channel and to our nominated cast and nominated show and everyone who made this magical show possible. This is crazy! This gives FMC 6 Critics Choice nominations in 2 years. Not bad for a little show on Hallmark Channel. What are your thoughts on our show?” Jumping first into the comment thread was one of his new GH co-stars, Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) who expressed, “Yeah buddy!!!🔥🔥”
In the series, Bennett, the host and co-creator spends eight weeks guiding 10 aspiring actors through a series of “festive face-offs” and acting challenges alongside actors like soap opera notables, Hunter King (ex-Summer, Y&R) and Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS). Along the way, they develop their skills and a bond with one another. The show, which is available on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Plus, highlights LGBTQ+ representation with openly gay contestants vying to be the next Hallmark star.
It should be noted that Traitors received the most Critics Choice Real TV Award nominations with 6 nods, followed by Dancing with the Stars with 4.
Bennett is very familiar to daytime fans having started his career as JR Chandler on All My Children in 2000-2001, before landing the part of Aaron Samuels in the motion picture, Mean Girls in 2004 starring Lindsay Lohan, which would become his breakout performance.

‘General Hospital’s’ Kelly Thiebaud on Britt and Cassius Sibling Drama, But Who Will Ultimately Blow His Cover?
On the April 30 episode of General Hospital, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) had some choice words and warning for her brother Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) who has been masquerading as his twin, the very dead, Nathan West.
As the story has unfolded, viewers learned that Britt knew all along that when “Nathan” showed up in Port Charles seemingly resurrected with a missing 7 years of his life unexplained, that Cassius was taking his place.
Now in developments on today’s GH, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is figuring out that this guy pretending to be Nathan is someone else, and Cassius learns from Britt, that Joss is not just a ditzy sorority girl as he claimed, but a WSB agent! The moment stuns Cassius. Are the walls about to close in on him and his charade?

Daytime Emmy winner, Kelly Thiebaud spoke to Soap Opera Digest, about the story point and getting the opportunity this time back at GH to work with Ryan Paevey, when she hadn’t had the chance to before.
BROTHERLY LOVE?
Thiebaud expressed on sharing scenes with Ryan Paevey, “It’s just been so wonderful to have him back and to actually work with him! When he first came onto the show (as Nathan at the end of 2013) I was kind of heading out — it was right towards the end of my contract, so we didn’t actually work together a ton. It’s been really refreshing and so much fun to really spend time together and get to know each other and work together. I think we have really great on-camera chemistry and banter with each other. I really enjoy working with him.”
With the stakes at an all-time, Thiebaud explained how she views her on-screen alter-ego’s involvement with her more hot-to-temper sibling and why Britt revealed the truth about Josslyn to him. “People finding out about Cassius would expose what she’s involved in and what she agreed to do,” explains Kelly “And now Josslyn is digging around, and she’s connected to Carly (Laura Wright) to Jason (Steve Burton) and that whole dynamic! It’s messy!”
BRITT’S MURKY FUTURE
Britt has currently also reached her breaking point with Jason being carted away by the WSB, Rocco (Finn Carr), the child she gave birth to, shooting Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) to protect her and Jason, Marco (Adrian Anchondo) being killed after trying to help her, and Cullum holding over her head getting her Huntington’s disease medication to control her symptoms, while blackmailing her into finishing the research on her father, Cesar Faison’s, final project. Thiebaud summed it up best for Britt right now, sharing, “It’s been a really tough time for her.”
So, who do you think will be the person to blow Cassius’ cover? Will it be Britt herself? Josslyn? Liesl? Brennan? Nina? Lulu? Rocco, Maxie, Cullum or someone else? Let us know your pick in the comment section.
