Kelly Monaco Thanks “Loyal People” for Devotion, and for Creating GH ‘What If Sam is Still Alive’ Story, Adding, “It Doesn’t Go Unnoticed … At Least By Me … Bravo!”
What General Hospital fans know is that back on September 27th, Kelly Monaco filmed her last scenes as Sam McCall on the ABC soap opera, after a 21-year run as a longtime fan favorite. Since that time, viewers are watching just how Monaco’s exit will play out on-screen.
What we do know is that this week, Sam learned she is a viable donor match to save Lulu’s life through a liver transplant. What we also know is someone was tampering with Lulu’s ventilator from further discussions from Dr. Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) and Dr. Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson). At the end of Friday’s, October 18th episode, we also learned there is some complication with Lulu even before heading into surgery, which is now a day away (although that will be stretched out to several days in soap opera time).
While fans of Kelly Monaco and GH watch to see how this story unfolds, we know that in the end, Sam is killed-off in what was reported as a “storyline-dictated” move, while many were hoping that when and if Lulu awakened, it would set the stage for a triangle between Sam/Dante/Lulu, but that is now not going to happen, unless somehow, someone, does an 11th-hour reprieve and rewrites the story and hires Monaco back.

The I Stand With Kelly campaign has been in full gear for several months with their petition of signatures getting very near 17K viewers protesting Kelly’s dismissal. In addition, with billboards in Time Square, and the truck driving around ABC prospect studios, much has been done to let the powers-that-be know that they are still keeping hope alive, that they will reconsider their position and bring the character and Monaco back.

Now, in a post on X, the campaign posted an elaborate and edited video sequence with selected clips from GH, telling the story of how they would see Sam being actually alive! They explained, “That’s right, our truck is back at Prospect Studios and ABC/Disney. Here is what we have playing on an 8-hour loop! As always, we added sound just for you! Due to Sam’s death already having been filmed, we expanded the ‘What If’ promo to be a storyline that has Danny and Dante figuring out she’s still alive. It showcases the resulting issues that come with Sam reclaiming her life—including: the originally planned love triangle concept between Sante/Lulu along with Sam’s conflicts with others in Port Charles. ”
The post did not go unnoticed by Monaco herself, who responded, “Thank you, y’all are the best, most loyal people ever!!!! It doesn’t go unnoticed… at least by me… BRAVO!”
Just how Sam’s on-screen journey will end is set to become quite clear on upcoming episodes of the ABC daytime drama series including official GH teasers for the week of October 21-25th which share that on the Thursday October 24th episode, Sam and Lulu’s imminent procedure draws loved ones to the hospital and on the Friday, October 25th episode Alexis awaits news on Sam.
Take a look below at the fan campaign to bring Kelly back to General Hospital below. Let us know what you thought of their ‘storyline”, then share how you are feeling after watching this week’s episodes of the ABC soap opera as we move closer to Sam and Lulu’s on-screen surgery date. Watching Kelly/Sam this week with Dante and their family made me realize how much I will miss Sam on GH.
My favorite era of GH was from 2005 to 2009 because it gave us one of the shows best love triangles between Elizabeth, Jason and Sam. Aside from Liason fans finally seeing Jason and Liz admit their love for one another, and Jake being born, the next best part of that storyline was the rivalry between Elizabeth and Sam.
These two fantastic actresses were phenomenal as rivals. I was a fan of both Elizabeth and Sam, but after Sam learned Jake was Jason’s son and she turned on Jason and targeted Liz, oh how I hated her. I didn’t want to hate her, but I did. That’s how great Kelly was/is. Of course the writing was fantastic then. In fact, that storyline caused one of the biggest fan wars (Liason vs Jasam) GH had ever seen. LOL
Over the years the Liz/Sam rivalry changed, as did my hatred of Sam, and they, dare I say, became friends. I wish the show built that friendship up better over the years, especially since their sons are half brothers.
I will miss Kelly/Sam on GH. I hope we get to see her return as one day. I know she is being killed off, but as her fans said, we know she can always come back.
Sam touches nearly every character on the show except for the Jordan/TJ bunch. She will be missed. I find it a bad move to kill her with no possible chance of return even if the show had to do a re-cast.
She was friends with Curtis, and TJ is her brother in law. So yes she will touch them as well.. Maybe not Portia.
# I Stand with Kelly and always will I Will Always Support And Follow Her# RehireKelly and keep Kelly and GH Alive❤️
It would be really easy to reverse Sam’s death, and it wouldn’t even require an escape from Hell.
We know that Sam has at least two lookalikes running around somewhere. Alicia Montenegro and Livvie Locke. We also know that Sam has been acting ridiculously out of character to one extent or another, probably since Jason’s first return in 2017. Definitely since his second return this past March.
So it would be actually believable if the real Sam was shown to be held prisoner somewhere – probably a Cassadine dungeon, or perhaps NuJagger stashed her somewhere before he got killed off, as a “backup plan” to coerce Jason into doing his dirty work. And it was the fake Sam doppelganger who turned out to be a match for Lulu and went through with the donation, thinking it was worth the risk, rather than outright refuse and bring unwanted attention to herself, as Sam would obviously take such a risk for Dante & Rocco’s sake. Of course, Fake Sam wouldn’t know if there were some other “evildoers” running around GH tampering with ventilators and such.
Now would these current writers be creative enough to think of this and make it work?
Don’t bet your soul on it, unfortunately.
I just posted a previous comment about ydou writing the scripts, but I think you should stop now, giving all your good ideas away for free! Oh well, they wouldn’t know what to do with good material anyway.
Don’t worry – the writers don’t look to us or on these sites for great ideas.
They’ve never taken any of mine and I really have had some creative ones. I know Satan can attest to that.
Yes, that’s why we’re watching such crap now, like letting someone like K.M go and keeping someone like the murderous Cyrus to kill her off. It’s disgusting .
i will miss kelly she will alway bw sam to i hope they never recast
I wish her the best of the best but our family has blocked all stations just sick of the nuts . They will survive good luck!
Looking for homes on deserted island where we don’t have to deal with the constant verbal attacks on each other
I For one wish they would change their mind and keep her. I think she’s a great actress and an asset to the show. Dante Lula and Sam triangle would be perfect.
Here’s my theory on what’s going to happen Cyrus was the one that unplugged the ventilator because he is worried that Lulu will wake up and somehow remember that he was behind the bomb going off that caused her to be in a coma to begin with, and so I think that Lulu will make it out of surgery. Sam will make it out of surgery and Cyrus is going to unplug the ventilator thinking it’s Lulu killing Sam
I will miss Sam, she was so good, while they were giving her good scripts, but than they just stopped coming, especially once Jason got back and she and Dante became a couple.Seems like they just pushed Sam back further and further. Now they are throwing her off GH and letting Cyrus the virus of all people get rid of her. Talk about insult added to injury.I hope the new Lulu’s resurrection is worth Sam’s demise.
I don’t want Sam to leave General Hospital.
Having Sam die during the Liver donation is a terrible message to send to organ donors in general.
There are a gazillion ways to kill her off – why do it as a flatline on the OR table or having a serial killer messing with a machine?
In the coming weeks, the show has Terrorist Jenz Sidwell coming back to town for November sweeps. I do not get why they cannot have Sam survive the transplant only to succumb to being the victim of a Sidwell assassin targeting either Holly or Lucky.
At least then it would be Holly’s fault and we are all now hating on her anyway.
You would be doing GH a favor for running with it. This would be a dynamic storyline. I know this, Kelly will make any storyline the best it could be. I’m not sure who you have chosen for Lulu……they better match Kelly.
Frank and Nate Varni have shown General Hospital is not a show for the fans. If it were, Kelly would still be there and Jasam would be driving story. It’s absolutely shameful and makes me sick. They’ve lost this viewer, and I have nothing but disdain for those two. I’ll wrap this post with this truth… the disrespect shown to Kelly would NEVER have happened to a man #noKellynoGH #IStandWithKelly
Someone’s going to hire Kelly very fast she is very talented actress and has a lot of experience. General Hospital will be in her rear view mirror. Especially the way they did her

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
