In a shocking casting move, former Days of our Lives star, Krista Allen (Ex-Billie Reed from 1996-1999) has replaced long time B&B favorite, Hunter Tylo in the role of Dr. Taylor Hayes.

According to EW.com, Allen will take over the role of beginning on December 10th. Tylo, had previously played the role of Taylor for over three decades on the CBS daytime drama series.

The report also notes that The Bold and the Beautiful did reach out to Hunter about reprising her signature role but was unsuccessful.

For fans of the show, Taylor has been absent for many key story points since 2019 including: her son Thomas’ brain surgery and the recent marriage of her daughter, Steffy’s marriage to Finn, plus the birth of her grandson and more.

In a tweet following the casting news being announced, Allen shared on her Twitter account: “This is gonna be a fun one! Very excited to step into this iconic role and be back on Daytime after 25 years! … Omg T-W-E-N-T-Y F-I-V-E years?”

Krista will start taping at B&B’s CBS Television City soundstage this Thursday, October 28th, and will share her first scenes with Thorsten Kaye (Ridge). Will there be trouble ahead in his marriage of Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge with NuTaylor back in the picture?

Allen was recently seen on the TV series 9-1-1, and numerous primetime and film appearances.

So, what do you think of Krista Allen becoming the recast Dr. Taylor Hayes? Comment below.

This is a good recast, I love Krista Allen. She is a wonderful actress, loved her as Billie Reed on Days Of Our Lives, she played the role from 1996 to 1999. Looking forward on December 10th, to see her play Taylor good luck to her.

That was ages ago when she was on Days. What has she done recently. She looks to young to be Steffy’s mother

She is 9 years younger than Hunter Tylo. She is too young, but I’m willing to suspend belief.

Yes, she looks too young to be Steffys mom…

I agree. Krista Allen is doing a great job, but she looks like she is 5 years or so older than Steffy and Thomas. If I had been unfamiliar with the storyline and character, my first impression would have been that she was Steffy and Thomas’s long lost slightly older sister.

She really needs to stop hunching over, stand up straight and keep her huge hands away from her face.

I don’t mind this recast, I just hope they stick to having her be there to support Thomas and Steffy.

What I DON’T want is for Bell to fire up Brooke/Ridge/Taylor again. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE NO.

She looks to young to be Taylor. Remember she is Steffy’s mother not sister. This smell s like a disaster ie when “Y&R” recast Diane Jenkins with Maura (Ava on GH now} They should have hired Jacklyn Smith as a guest star reprising Taylor Hayes. Jacklyn is age appropriate and sort of looks like the actress portraying Steffy. Also, Jacklyn has NEVER won any kind of award for her years of great acting most notably as the gorgeous Kelly Garett of the break through series “Charlie’s angels” with fellow beauties Kate Jackson & Farrah Fawcett in 1976. She has dozens of TV flicks, mini series etc….. Yet no awards…. Not even a nomination. Guest starring on “B&B” would give her a chance to get the gold Emmy as favorite guest star like “GH” did for Donna Mills who won a daytime Emmy award as best guest star.

I like Jaclyn Smith but she is NOT age appropriate to play Taylor. Jaclyn Smith is 76 years old. She looks great for her age but it would too much of a stretch for her to play the part of Taylor. The actress needs to look close to the age of both Ridge and Brooke. Jaclyn Smith looks too old to be playing a contemporary of those characters.

Now, if you want to discuss Smith playing a new character as a love interest for 70-something Eric Forrester, I would go along with that. Smith as Taylor Hayes is another story.

I would have considered soap veteran Hillary Bailey Smith for the part of Taylor.

Hunter didn’t want to return and Taylor should be in town. I just think Krista seems too young to play Taylor. She is a good actress. Looking forward to Taylor returning. She hasn’t even met her grandson yet!

I agree too young … also hate the wig
Not rehashing the old Brooke & Taylor fighting over Ridge … please no no

I stopped watching this soap in 2019 but, on paper, Krista Allen should work as Taylor, especially since Hunter Tylo’s last stint was beyond amateur.

I think this will work, because she somewhat resembles Hunter Tylo and she is age appropriate. Krista Allen is in her 50s. I think Thomas and Steffy are supposed to be in their late 20s. PLEASE don’t resurrect the Brooke/Ridge/Taylor triangle!

Steffy is about 31 in-story from what I just googled. Krista Allen is 50 in real life so if the character is supposed to be in her 50s it works fine. Hunter Tylo is 59 in real life. Regardless, soaps never pay that much attention to age when it comes to parent/child and who they hire for the roles.

No they don’t and I’m sure it’s short term but the story needs to end so I’m happy with it let’s finish it up

And let’s not also forget that Jack Wagner(Nick) is only 10yrs younger than Lesley Anne Down who played Jackie, his mother!

Steffy is 31,Thomas 34.

Sadly, this actress was a recast for Billie on “Day’s” along time ago. The original Billie was the big lipped gal, Lisa Rena. This gal cast as Taylor did not last long as Billie recast on “Day’s”. I suspect she won’t last to log on “B&B” based upon the fact she is not age appropriate to e cast as Taylor. Remember she is Steffy’s mother NOT her sister. Also, her acting was pitiful on “Day’s”. Maybe she has taken acting lessons since then?

“Big-lipped”?…really. As if a full shapely lip is irregular, abnormal, or unattractive. Thin line “shape” lips are not considered beautiful in many countries. That is why so many thin-lipped women rush to purchase products to plumb up their lips or pay hefty sums of money to create beautiful shapely full lips.

Well, this actress cast as Taylor was a terrible recast as Billie! She replaced Lisa Rena. That was ages ago. As I recall she did not last long on ‘Day’s”. They should have hired Jacklyn Smith who was also considered for the role. It would have brought eye balls to “B&B” and also would give Jacklyn an opportunity to possibly win a daytime Emmy for best guest star like “GH” did for Donna Mills. Miss Mills won her first Emmy as favorite guest star a few years ago. Despite her terrific long as acting credits ie “Knots Landing” she NEVER had won an Emmy award or even nominated. The same is true for Jacklyn Smith which is shocking considering! Despite Miss. Smith’s ground breaking series “Charlie’s angels” with co-stars Kate Jackson &^ Farrah Fawcett. She has done dozens of tv Films and mini series. CBS really blew this golden opportunity…

I didn’t watch back then but how would they considered Jaclyn Smith for the role of Billie? Jacklyn is now 76. She would have been 50. I read that Krista Allen took over the role in 1996 and she was 25, considering that she’s 50 now.

Huh? No! Casting Jacklyn Smith as Taylor Hayes NOT Billie! Also, Jackie Smith does NOT look her age anymore then Donna Mill does. She was great guest starred on “General Hospital” and won her first Emmy for best guest star.

Did I read you wrong? You said back in the day they hired Krista Allen to play Billie, but that Jacklyn Smith had also been considered for the role? Or did you mean back in the day Krista had been hired to play Billie. Full stop. Then you were saying that now, in present day, Jacklyn Smith was considered for the role of Taylor? She’s not the right age; not close. She’s four years from 80! LOL.

Either way, Krista is 50 and Jacklyn is 76. I can’t imagine they’d ever be up for the same roles.

In this fashion-conscious, emphasis on beauty, show, I think having a young looking, beautiful mom is just the right look for the role.

Jacklyn Smith looks a lot younger then her age. Very slender & fit! She could easily portray Taylor against Kelly Katherine Lange (Brook)who is 60. I doubt the legendary Jacklyn Smith want a long term role but as a guest star would have been awesome on “B&B”! The Taylor character is never around very long so it would have worked perfectly. The press coverage would have been amazing! Bell missed a golden opportunity.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. Yes; plastic surgery does wonders and Jacklyn Smith looks gorgeous for mid 70s. Not sure her name means as much to the demographic that advertisers covet which I think is 18-49.

But I agree; Jacklyn Smith is a known name and is very attractive. I’m not as convinced as you that this would be the role for her at this time. If she was playing Taylor’s mother (as in Krista Allen’s Taylor) then I could see three generations in this family of beautiful women that would be plausible.

I think Paul is saying Jacklyn should have been hired to play Taylor, but she’s too old. Everyone is as casting director…

Kelly Katherine Lang is or should be the close to the same age as the Taylor character. This gal hired might be 50 but she looks a lot younger besides the point she is not a good actress. Some people might say it’s daytime TV that doesn’t matter but it should. Also, Jacklyn Smith is (still} VERY beautiful! She looks a lot younger then her age and it would get a lot of press coverage having her guest star on “B&B” as Taylor Hayes. Taylor is never around very long so the guest star status ie Donna Mills on “GH” a few years ago would work perfectly. Miss. Mills won a daytime Emmy that year as best guest star. Bell blew a golden opportunity!

Yes; thanks. I guess I read it wrong (though I think it could have been interpreted either way) but it Jacklin wouldn’t work age-wise for the role back in the day or the current one. I’m not familiar with this actress but if her acting’s good, looks-wise I think it’s a good pick.

Jackyln is too old. Krista was fine on Days. She was on Days for three years. No, that’s not long compared to Abe, but longer than Charity Rahmer.

The role she had on “Days” was a recast. Lisa Rena originated the role of Billie. Krista role was diminished over time until she was let go. That was ages ago also. She might be 50 but she looks a lot younger. Remember she is playing against Kelly Katherine Lang who looks as beautiful as ever at 60. Thorsen Kay looks older then 55 years old. I am not sure that is correct? Also, Jacklyn Smith looks a lot younger then her age. She is as gorgeous as EVER! She would play against Brook & Ridge beautifully not to mention Steffy. Jackie could easily be Steffy mother. Taylor is NEVER around very long so the guest starring status would have worked beautifully for Jacklyn ie Donna Mills when she guest starred on “GH” a couple of years back. Miss. Mills won her first daytime Emmy that year. As crazy as it sounds she has NEVER been recognized by Emmy for her outstanding resume and terrific work in television. The same situation with Jacklyn. What a great miss of a golden opportunity! Bell blew this one BIG time! Can you imagine the press coverage. Oh well….

Donna Mills played the mother of Nina who was in her 40s; not 31, like Steffy.

Love her

People keep commenting about her age, but Krista Allen is 50 which is more than old enough to be Steffy and Thomas’ mother, considering they’re in their late-20s. Yes, Hunter Tylo is a decade older, but Thorsten Kaye is only 55 and Ronn Moss is nearly 70. So recasts with younger actors can work, just like it has with Ridge. At one point, B&B had Lesley-Anne Down and Jack Wagner playing mother and son and there is only a 5 year age gap between them!

As for Taylor’s return, it’s about time. It made no sense that she was absent for Steffy’s wedding, especially given Sheila’s return and all the pain Sheila cause Taylor and her family. Also, Thomas needs some psychiatrically-trained motherly guidance right about now, and has for some time. I just hope they don’t try to pair Taylor with Ridge again, or Eric for that matter. Not really sure where she’ll fit into the show story-wise but with Sheila and Deacon back, it should be fun!

Geez, you guys! She hasn’t even made her TV debut as Taylor and you’re already playing Debbie downers. I happen to like this recast. I think she’ll do a good job.

She will be fine actors have age differences all the time ! I’m glad they decided to get this story finished to not have Taylor with her children when they needed her just did not work ! Finish the story

I agree!

I couldn’t agree more! Plus a good make-up artist could easily put a couple more years on her!

We needed Taylor back and their are major issues with Hunter and for that I’m sorry but Taylor needed to be on the canvas so welcome KA snd let’s finish the story! Do not hold this against KA support her ! We have no idea wher Hunter is so very sad

Just finish the story and we go on our way I am so very sad for Hunter the tragedy that has went on in her life

Hunter Tylo is enjoying retirement and left the high cost of LA to enjoy a quieter and simple life. Hunter has been in the public eye since her early 20’s, maybe she wants to have a private life for a change?

Krista Allen : Ms. Billie Reid 1996-99. Lisa Rinna, could do no wrong. yeah, i’ll work with”feisty” which brought @Lisa … rave reviews for her work , @Beyond Salem ???? who woulda think

walks in : “Krista Allen” oh god… hot off her streak of Emmanuelle… sensual, sex capades ALLURE ! oh she rocked the telee, no?

this was her foray in to WORKING… her Hollywood gamut. I enjoyed her work… her chemistry with Peter Reckell was endearing… at the time… the buzz was how much alike she was with mumsie Kate… LOOK LIKE SISTERS ! WOW.. suffice to say… writing.. too much of a newbie ? she starred for 3 plus years.

her last scene (s) is forever etched… any woman who can catch Bo’s HEART ?!?! however, it plays out… your heart fought with Billie. she was preggers with Bo’s child… taken from wiki – “Around five months into her pregnancy, she follows Bo and Hope to New Orleans and is accosted by two men. As a result, Billie goes into premature labor and gave birth to a stillborn daughter, whom she names Georgia. She buries her daughter in the swamp…” Oh that scene , with rain pouring down… how she wept for the death of her baby. “Georgia”

25 years later… with experience and maturity… I HOPE THE WRITERS @B&B – GIVE Krista Allen’ Taylor chutzpa ZEAL, fight, and even footing with the OH SO TIRED KKL Brooke! Christ! so sick of “thee Logan sisters trampolina” Brooke always looks so haggard and Tired… watching her enunciate her points… takes her breath away. as Ridge looks like he’s remembering how to get laid.

walks in : Krista Allen !!!! AND my favorite !!!! She’s Thomas’ MOTHER ! WOWSAH

“OH GOD” Please, let this work

I’m excited

Ok Patrick HT was never coming back she and KB have a horrible history! It is very sad but it is what is let’s finish the story and move on! Would she have been my choice no ! But let’s finish the story ! I do not know why Brad decided to destroy the character of Taylor but he did so let’s just move on finish the story !! TH has had a very sad story so let’s go on!

We lived just a few blocks from her and husband but life goes on

Patrick
Loved your reminiscing about Billi back in the day with Bo. I had stopped watching for a while, so did not see any of what you described. I do remember Ridge being torn apart by Taylor and Brooke, who back than was the sexy young Valley Girl, wooed and married by Eric and Ridge, driving Taylor and Stephanie crazy with their hate and jealousy. I can’t stand her whiney squeeky voice these days still driving Eric and Ridge meddling in poor Eric’s life with her helicopter way of hovering over him, constantly in his face about Quinn. I also think this thing with Donna is a little silly, with her sisters egging her on to reunite her and Eric, but if it helps him get his life UP to speed, then I’m all for it. Thanks for” listening”.

Great to see you here, Patrick! “as Ridge looks like he’s remembering how to get laid”: funny and yet somehow relatable…

They have had terrible actors on soaps before on all the soaps and Taylor is never on for very long. I will keep an open mind. I am like millions of fan’s disappointed however in what could have been.

Great recast! Looking for more Bold and Beautiful! GH and ABC are too busy with their woke agenda to see that their show is sinking!

Did they purposely pick a much younge looking actress to replace Hunter Tylo?

I’m sorry but Krista Allen looks way too young to be (Steffy’s Mom or Ridge’s ex wife)-Taylor!!
Maybe they couldn’t get Hunter Tylo to reprise the “Taylor” role but they should have gotten someone more age appropriate!

Why is krista wearing a wig?

They need to do something with Krista Allen’s hair – if it’s a wig get rid of it
Looks horrible!!

She had just appeared here in Australia Does she really need that awful wig though ?! It’s horrible! I’m sure her natural hair would’ve been nice enough !

Yeah, that rug is awful! What’s the reason for it?

So far, despite the unsettled wig decisions, she’s doing great. I don’t care what they do with her, as long as they DO NOT try and amp those lips up. It’s so nice not to see that foolishness.
Now if we could just get Brooke a life, besides being concerned with what everyone else is doing. I used to really love her….
And another thing. Mr Bell, could we just stop with Shiela Carter?? If you’re that bored with writing, that out of ideas and having to ho back to the same stories every 10 years, let me know. I would gladly take over.

Wayyyyyyy too young…don’t like it..she looks younger than Steffi!

She looks to young to be Steffy’s mom on the show. Please give her a different wig. She’s too pretty for the one she’s wearing.

She’s way too young for the role. So much so that it is ridiculous! Not only that, the whole Ridge, Taylor, Brooke, Deacon thing is already overdone. I’ve stopped watching !

Is Krista wearing a bad wig or is it just me? Don’t get me wrong I think she is a beautiful woman but her hair looks awful.

Look too young to be Steffy’s mom! Her hair looks like a wig!

I have to say that I think Krista Allen is too young to play Stephie and Thomas’ MOM! This would have made her 14 when she had Stephie since Krista is 50 and Jaqueline is 34!

jlv
I sure agree She looks like an older sister to Steffy and Thomas and Ridge looks like dad to all three of them.
As far as the hair, they did a whole article on her when she took over the role and went in depth about her starting out with a wig and than dumping it for her own hair which was supposed to look so much better. To tell you the truth I couldn’t tell one from the other, but she sure goes out of her way to portray the very much younger Taylor.

Way too young. And acts even younger. Too demure and baby voices. But they dress Brook like shes a character on Golden girls. The contrast is ridiculous.

LG
Of course there’s Brooke and her baby voice and have you ever seen and heard Felicia on GH? That’s one for the books! Makes me cringe every time she speaks!

I completely agree. But, GH Felicia is the queen of the baby voices. What I do not understand is why the directors and producers allow them to speak like that.

Does anyone else feel some type of way about her mannerisms? She acts too much like a perky teenager & her constant gestures with her slinky hands to me seems like she’s trying to hard to be sexy & cute. Her tilts of her head & fluttering her eyes & her finger on her mouth. Lol I can go on & on

Krista Allen looks like she is about 18 . Playing a character with grandchildren is not working . Can’t help but think Ridge could be accused of child abuse . She acts like a teenager. Her mannerisms are that of a very young girl. I’m sure she would be wonderful as a younger character. She acts younger than Stefie.

PREFER TYLO. ALLEN THINKS SHE IS ALL THAT, NOT. NOT TO MENTION A REAL PSYCHOLOGIST WOULD NOT ACT AND DEMONSTRATE SUCH ACTIONS. EX. OR NOT YOU DO NOT PAW YOUR EX WHEN HE IS MARRIED TO SOMEONE ELSE. NOT TO MENTION IN FRONT OF HER DAUGHTER AND SISTER. STEFFY NEEDS A REAL UP TAKE, SHE’S TURNED INTO A REAL BIMBO. AFTER HER ORDEAL, SHE SHOULD BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS. MOT JUST MOMMY DEAREST.

Monday afternoon, Extra kicked-off the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy nominations with the reveal of two major categories. First, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and second, Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host.

Previous Emmy winners all, the men who will be vying for daytime’s most coveted prize are: Eric Braeden (Victor Newman), The Young and the Restless, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan), General Hospital, Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer), The Bold and the Beautiful, Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester), The Bold and the Beautiful, and Christian Jules Le Blanc (Michael Baldwin), The Young and the Restless.
