Thursday night on her Instagram, Lexi Ainsworth addressed her followers and General Hospital fans on the news from earlier today that Kate Mansi would be taking over the role of Kristina Davis Corinthos. The role of Kristina had been played by the Daytime Emmy Award-winning, Ainsworth, on and off since 2009.

From the sentiments expressed in her video, Ainsworth, who has been working on other aspects of her career and interests, shared it is one of the reasons she is leaving the ABC daytime drama series, but that is was also a decision between her and the show.  In addition, Lexi revealed there is a major upcoming storyline for Kristina that she will not be a part of.

Lexi shared: “I wanted to let you guys know that after 10 transformative years, both personally and for my character, that I will be leaving General Hospital. I was looking forward to this upcoming storyline because it was inspired by a personal experience of mine. But I’m currently working on my own story from my point of view which has been thus far cathartic and hopefully inspiring to other women.”

The popular actress also noted, “While General Hospital has remained a top priority, I have been interested in pursuing new career opportunities that align with my evolving interests and goals.  I’m confident that this mutually beneficial decision will lead to new endeavors where I will continue to grow and expand my talents beyond the industry.”

She ended her video thanking the fans for their enduring support, and added, “As I leave General Hospital, I will continue carving out a space for myself where I am an active part of the creative process.  As much as it is hard to say goodbye, I know that this has ultimately freed me for what I’m meant to be pursuing.”

In speaking on what immediately comes next, Lexi revealed, “I have an episode of NCIS that will be airing this month on May 22nd.” (Programming note: CBS has confirmed that Lexi’s episode actually will air this coming Monday, May 8th)

I guess I’m a little dense. Is she leaving on her own accord or were she and the show unable to reach an agreement for her to continue as Kristina? It wasn’t clear in her statement.

I will miss her and wish her well.

It sounds like a bit of both. Lexi clearly wants to pursue other endeavours, and since it sounds like GH will be utilizing Kristina more in the coming weeks/months, Lexi probably didn’t have the time/willingness to commit to a heavier workload that would prevent her from other projects. It sounds mutually beneficial, although I will definitely miss her portrayal of the character.

You’re not dense. She’s being diplomatic and professional (how refreshing) so it’s not 100% clear. But at least it seems obvious she wasn’t fired. It sounds like they couldn’t agree on terms, possibly the time commitment required for the story, so they mutually parted ways. It happens with no bad guy on either side. Appreciate her saying anything (since the show can’t comment on personnel issues) and look forward to her future projects.

supposedly it’s mutual but probably has to do with her outside projects.

I feel slightly a little better after hearing her address the situation, nevertheless I’m still sad to see her go and hope she returns one day down the line.

Lexi’s very careful with the wording. “Mutually beneficial” does not mean it was a mutual decision.

Lexi & Maurice play so well off each other. We’ll see if Mansi can have that same appeal.

Assuming Mansi will be on contract. History can repeat itself. Mandi might grow tired of the role and Lexi will come back to make sporadic appearances.

I wish her the very best in all her future endeavors. She did a great job on GH!

Bless her heart she is from my home state she will be fine she has a great future and the best thing that ever happened to her was putting GH behind her!

Loved her as Lexi, she was “Daddy’s girl” I hope the best for her , at her age, she’s got the world in front of her.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
