They’re fantastic on screen together. But I just want to see more of their characters, romance or no. I get that they’re not leading characters at the moment, but throw them a bone!

I love Mary Beth! Thank you SO much for this interview. I don’t know about a romantic relationship between Abe and Kayla, because when I watch them, I only think “friends”, but I DO want her to have a life, and I DO want her to have a new relationship. I was just thinking along the lines of a new character for her. Maybe an actor who recurs, because she’s a recurring character. That way, the relationship would develop slowly, and kind of take Kayla by surprise.

I adore Mary Beth, she is a terrific actor and would love to see her on screen more. If the only way we will get her is with Abe, then I guess I take a positive attitude and be content. But honestly, I’d rather see her with someone in her age range and more exciting.

Kayla and Abe have a great FRIENDSHIP. There is no other vibe there and to do so would be silly. Kayla needs a partner who tests her, engages her, puzzles her and brings out the tiger within. Abe is a comfy pair of slippers. A pairing would be silly and not true to who Kayla is.

ITA Jane! I love Mary Beth and Kayla, but do not see any romantic spark with her and Abe. I do love their friendship though. It’s organic and goes back to years ago. I do want to see more of Mary Beth/Kayla though. I’d like to see her with Joey and hear about her life instead of her always being there to support everyone else. Those Salemites are acting very self centered in not even asking her how she’s doing once in awhile! LOL Lastly, Mary Beth is awesome at comedy! Give her some more fun scripts! Those book club… Read more »

Gotta say no to ‘Kabe’. I’m definitely not feeling any vibes between them other than that of a long term friendship. I would love to see Kayla get involved with someone ‘iffy’ and Abe take on the role of the ‘protective brother’ type. Would love to have more Mary Beth on my screen!

I would love to see more of Mary Beth as Kayla, and I would like to see her in a relationship. But please, no Kabe! If they go down that road with her, I hope it’s someone new and exciting. Or someone completely unexpected. Not just them tying up two loose ends.

It’s an interesting debate. I do think Kayla should move forward in her life. I think she deserves happiness. I’d like to see her begin to put herself out there and try a date. That’s a struggle a lot of newly single women face, and it would be identifiable for many. Show Kayla’s quandary. Should she or shouldn’t she? What does SHE think? I’ve always been a little surprised no one has set her up yet. She’s been on her own for a couple of years now. Why do none of her friends consider it a mission to set her… Read more »

Kabe forever ! Do it Days ! Both need a story and both actors want it therefore do it ! As for Abe not being ‘exiting’ enough..maybe Kayla can bring some fire in him..who knows..writing can improve things like that a lot. As for the bookclub scenes, Kayla was certainly the stand out in it..imho Mary-Beth was the only one believable as someone who is stoned..and i know what i am talking about but stone bookclub can’t happen everyday guys ! It would not be believable and it would get boring after a while. Kayla just need some exiting story… Read more »

Great interview Michael! The #KABE story would be interesting. I personally would love to see Stephen Nichols comeback and work things out with Kayla. Love those two together.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Julie Stands Up to MarDevil; Susan Seaforth Hayes Reminds Us Why She is Soap Royalty

Friday’s episode of Days of our Lives brought with it, let’s just say, not your typical Turkey Day episode in Salem.  It also moved the story along with MarDevil being exposed!

At Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) Thanksgiving, Doug (Bill Hayes) shouts that Marlena (Deidre Hall) is the devil. However, Marlena still insists that Doug is delusional and needs to be locked back up.  It is then that Julie stands by her husband.  Julie is on to Marlena and wonders if she should call “Marlena,” who she truly is at the moment, “Satan”.

Courtesy/NBC

Shawn (Brandon Beemer) and Belle (Martha Madison) also believe something is terribly wrong.  Marlena tells them this is ridiculous, but Belle wants to hear what else Doug has to say.  Then, Shawn handcuffs Marlena to take her down to the station for questioning.  Julie doesn’t believe for one second that handcuffs will restrain the devil, and she was right! MarDevil breaks the cuffs and flings Shawn across the Thanksgiving dinner table complete with food-a-flying, leaving him unconscious.

Now with yellow eyes and lights flickering, MarDevil goes after Doug and Julie, but Julie stops Satan in his tracks professing “Not today, Satan!” Just then, MarDevil grabs a knife and in a counter move, Julie holds out her rosary saying love is the power and that the God of love is stronger than the devil! Julie defiantly tells MarDevil that the truth is out and Satan’s reign of terror is over! But MarDevil turns the tables and sneers, “It will never be over!”

It was in these scenes opposite Deidre Hall, that Susan Seaforth Hayes shined as she has done for decades given the material, as Julie went the toe-to-toe with the devil and Susan made us believe that love can win out over everything, especially the love of Doug and Julie.

In another touching moment in the episode, Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) tells EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) from her hospital bed, how she used herself as a human sacrifice for the devil to keep John alive and to protect her son.  An emotional EJ can’t believe that Susan was willing to die for him. However, Susan explains that a mother always protects their child and she would do it all over again when faced with that decision.  Haiduk and Feurriegel also delivered in these scenes.

With John (Drake Hogestyn) freed by Anna (Leann Hunley) and Tony (Thaao Penghlis), he eventually makes his way into the Horton house to confront MarDevil, but Satan is gone.  Instead, John finds Shawn with Doug and Julie and they inform him that MarDevil had left to fulfill her true purpose.  Just then, Marlena arrives at Ben (Rob Scott Wilson) and Ciara’s (Victoria Konefal). We fade to black.

Now below, check out Susan Seaforth Hayes in a scene from Friday’s episode as Julie fends off the devil.

Then, let us know, what did you think of Susan’s performance? What do you think MarDevil will do next to Ben and Ciara and “their” baby? Did you enjoy the Susan and EJ scenes? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
