Now this ought to be good!  Former Guiding Light alum (where he played Ben Reade), and motion picture, theatre and TV star, Matt Bomer has been cast in the new season of NBC’s hit comedy Will & Grace!

Matt will take on the role of a smooth-talking, self-absorbed TV news anchor who will play a love interest of Eric McCormack’s, Will.

In addition to Bomer, the episode will feature Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, who is also set to be one of the judges in the upcoming Dancing with the Stars: Juniors edition, and Minnie Driver who reprises her role of Lorraine Finster, the arch-nemesis of Karen (Megan Mullally).

Upon the release of the news of his casting on Will & Grace, Bomer took to his social media and tweeted, “Dream come true!”

The new season of Will & Grace bows on October 4th.

So, what do you think of Bomer as a love interest for Will?  Will you be checking out the episode when the airdate is announced? Comment below.

Honestly, the best part of this news was the return of Minnie Driver as the infamous Lorraine. I’ll never forget that episode when Karen demanded she give up the jewels she was trying to abscond with…which were hidden in some VERY unusual places. “And? And? And?” I’d like to see Will with someone with more personality. Matt Bomer is great-looking but never really “sparks”. Even on the terrific WHITE COLLAR, he was too subdued. But this show’s ensemble is so great, they can carry anybody if needed.

UPDATED:  According to Deadline  the cast and crew of NBC’s Days of our Lives will actually be returning tomorrow, October 20th to begin taping ahead of schedule after a positive Covid-19 test shut production down originally scheduled for two weeks.

The outlet cited, “Following a thorough investigation including contact tracing, quarantines, testing, and a deep cleaning of the studio, the health and safety experts at Days of our Lives have determined that it was safe to return to production before the end of the two-week period. As a result, the show will be back on set tomorrow Oct 20.”

The word of the early return initially got out Monday, although at that time unconfirmed by the show, apparently, via a posting by Lauren Koslow on her Instagram account where she is pictured in a Kate Roberts outfit in her dressing room.

Koslow shared: “Stepping into Monday in alice + olivia black velvet,” She also tagged the post #dressingroomselfie and the words. “Stay strong.”

She also added a quote from poet Maya Angelou: “Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.”
