Melody Thomas Scott Tweets Heartfelt Message To David Tom After He Was Let-Go By Y&R!

The one and only Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) sent out a very heartfelt tweet last evening which showed her empathy and compassion for David Tom, who was let-go by The Young and the Restless as Billy Abbott!
As fans know now, Tom was replaced by actor Burgess Jenkins, after David returned to Y&R to reprise the role of Billy Abbott, after Billy Miller made the decision to exit the series. Melody tweeted: “@davidtom_23 I’ll miss U so much. Don’t let it get you down. U R a fabulous actor, friend, U R my family. Ur talent will take U where U belong! x”
Some fans of the series are now upset that Tom got fired for another actor, when he was finally hitting his stride and they became more accepting of his portrayal of Billy, while still others felt he was just not the right fit from the beginning and he never caught on. Now with Burgess Jenkins coming in to take on the role, will he be a bonafide success in the role? Time will tell!

‘Tracker’ Star Justin Hartley Reveals Melissa Roxburgh to Debut as His On-Screen Sister
Justin Hartley took to his Instagram this week, and introduced the latest cast member to his hit freshman drama, Tracker on CBS.
The former Y&R star where he played Adam Newman, now plays Colter Shaw on Tracker and in a few weeks time on the May 5th episode, viewers will be introduced to Colter’s sister, Dory.
Actress Melissa Roxburgh takes on the key role. Roxburgh is most-known for his role in Manifest. She has also appeared on Quantum Leap and Supernatural to name just a few of her other TV credits.

In the episode entitled, “Beyond the Campus Walls”, the CBS series previews, “When a grad student goes missing after a house party, his friends and family believe he buckled under the pressure of his research grant. But, after consulting with his sister Dr. Dory Shaw (Roxburgh)— a professor at the school — Colter discovers a trail of explicit photos and messages that lead him to uncover a dangerous (and deadly) conspiracy on campus.”
Hartley’s post shared, “Colter finally reunites with his little sister Dory in the coming weeks. Join me in welcoming the lovely and talented @MRoxburgh to the @TrackerCBS family!”

The story of Colter Shaw’s family is a throughline throughout Tracker. We know from flashbacks, that Colter, Dory and their brother Russell had a not-conventional upbringing. Their parents Ashton and Mary were professors at Berkeley until something happened to Ashton. When his paranoia gets the best of him he leaves his family, but Russell went after him, and then later on Ashton is found dead, where all indications look like Russell pushed him. Now in 2024, Russell contacted Colter telling him there is something he “needs to know.” However, Colter’s mom, Mary did not want her son engaging with Russell in any conversation and that was back earlier in the season after the second episode.

B&B’s Sean Kanan, Heather Tom and Lawrence Saint-Victor All Had Creative Hand in Sheila’s ‘Ten Toe’ Reveal
Bringing it from the page to the stage is the actor’s job on any theatre, television or motion picture project. In the case of The Bold and the Beautiful, longtime soap MVP, Sean Kanan, has been delivering some powerful performances as Deacon has become increasingly freaked out and obsessed with the fact, that in the crematorium, he saw that “Sheila’s” (Kimberlin Brown) body had ten toes, not nine.
Deacon now believes Sheila might be alive somewhere (given she only has 9 toes), and especially after seeing the communications between Sugar and Sheila on her laptop.
Then, on Monday’s April 15th episode of the CBS daytime drama series, Deacon says to himself (as he pours himself a drink), “Maybe Finn’s right. Maybe I’m losing it.” He flashes back to the crematorium, saying “Sheila had nine toes, but I saw ten on those feet.” He then utters, “Why Sheila? Why did you go to Steffy’s that night? And who the hell is sugar?”

While Kanan has played the only guy in town who thinks something is off here, he was ably assisted by two of his castmates. First, six-time Daytime Emmy-winner, Heather Tom (Katie) directed the episode where it was revealed that the woman’s body in the crematorium had ten toes.
Second, Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter), wrote that ‘ten toe’ reveal episode, and he took to Kanan’s instagram and expressed, “I had a lot of fun writing this episode. (Sean Kanan) killed it!!!!”

CBS Orders Michele Van Jean Soap Opera ‘The Gates’ to Series; Set to Debut January 2025
Great news! Soap fans are getting the first new daytime drama in 25 years with the news today that CBS has moved Michele Van Jean’s The Gates to a series order.
In addition, the show is set to bow in January 0f 2025, which means that it appears that the new soap will replace The Talk, which was just canceled and will end after its upcoming 15th season in December of 2024. No specific time period, or exact premiere date has been set as of yet.
In the premise of the The Gates it follows lives of a wealthy Black family who live in a luxurious gated community.

The Gates has Val Jean as its writer, showrunner and one of its executive producers. Soap fans know Val Jean’s work best for her work on the writing teams of General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful. Taking to X, Michele shared: “It’s go time” citing the news on the show coming to CBS in 2025 via Deadline.
Sheila Ducksworth, Leon Russell, Derrick Johnson and Kimberly Doebereiner will serve as executive producers on The Gates production team. The soap has been in development through a the joint venture between CBS Studios and the NAACP, which was established to help elevate a diverse range of voices and increase the visibility of Black artists.
The series will be produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP venture in partnership with P&G Studios, which is a division of Procter & Gamble, who used to be very big in the soap opera game.

The character of Sandy left DAYS just before I started watching. That part of the Horton family should be visited. I never hear them mention Dr. Tom Horton Jr. (Tommy). Is Sandy his only child?

Sandy was Tommys only child…but we havent heard from him since the late 70s…they could easily write a whole new family for him…he couldve remarried and perhaps had two more children…a boy and a girl…who are all grown now with families of their own.

#2 JIll Farren Phelps needs to be fired. A wise man once said, when having cast an actor, in a role, don’t fire them for six months to one year! This is a desperation move, just like when she offered up Josh Griffiths. Tom was not the problem. SHE is the problem. This firing should bite her in her poverbial black hearted keister. Tom came in under difficult circumstances, and he needed time. If she can give her pet, all the time in the world, and we all know he is an epic fail, then DT deserved the same. This firing has lit a fuse, in the YR community, wait and see, and we want JFP OUT. It is time for a new EP and hell, the whole writing team needs to be swept as well. Enough already. how could David Tom not be right for the part? He originated the role and won 2 emmys for it. Billy Miller was the recast – a great one – but a recast nonetheless. Amelia Heinle couldn’t even make chemistry work with her real life husband. The only pairing that worked was hers with Billy M, and that’s because BM was a miracle worker. She’s the problem. Not DT. Why won’t they recast her? It’s sad that DT had to lose his job in a role that he originated.
Yes David Tom originated the role of Billy and deserved all the praise he got back then.However the problem might have been he played a teenaged Billy.It’s similar to character of Noah.Kevin Schmidt originated the role of a teenaged Noah.He left in 2010 and came back a few times since then but it didn’t work out.As for Amelia Heinle she’s been on Y&R for 9 years.So she’s supposed to lose her job over an actor that just returned a few months ago?For the record i like David Tom but maybe he was expecting that he could just pick up with the character where he left off but he couldn’t.
I watched today and saw that David Tom has aged into the role of Billy. He was very good acting compassionate and tender with Chloe. He seemed like a grown up and he has just hit his stride. It is appalling that they didn’t give him more time and this comes from a Billy Miller fan. To me, David Tom is now Billy Abbott.

While I wish David Tom the best, I was NOT one of those that ‘finally thought he got it’….he was just horrible in this role. And not comparing him to BM…..he was just awful. I’ll give the new guy a fair shot. Anything has to be better than what we’ve had for the last few months.
How was he horrible? Please back up your opinion with an example or two. For instance, if I say the actress who plays Lily is horrible I can tell you why–her tone of voice is always the same–sassy, bratty and silly. No matter what the scene, Lily either sounds as if she just got a bad manicure and she’s throwing a tantrum or she sounds like she is flirting with the big man on campus (even if she is speaking to another woman).
I thought David Tom was handed some incredibly dark material to step right into. If you recall, even Billy Miller wasn’t acting like Billy anymore after Delia’s death and after suffering marital problems. Even Miller wasn’t much fun anymore. Tom stepped right up to that plate and was able to convey incredible emotions as if he has been playing this role all along. His scenes with Jack were so good, I really felt as though I were a fly on the wall watching two brothers interact with each other.
That is why I say David Tom is a very capable actor.
I think David Tom had come into his own in the role right when they let him go! My gosh, people were so angry Billy Miller left NO ONE would have gotten a fair shake from the vast majority. David Tom is a wonderful actor and hopefully will bounce back from this emotionally. It had to be hard to take.
Melody Thomas Scott has been on the show for a long time and seen many kids come and go; i am sure that she feels a sense wanting to help keep everyone together. It is what happens when the person being paid to lead (JFP) isn’t doing their job!!!!
I did not have a problem with David’s acting, I just don’t feel the chemistry between him and Amelia like she had with Billy.
I don’t feel I need to give you an ‘example or 2’….it’s just my personal opinion (we all have one) and observation. I feel about DT the same way you feel about CK (Lily)….he seemed like a one emotion actor in this part. Perhaps in another role, he would be different. I just didn’t care for him at all.
But Janice, you cannot state a thesis without explaining why you feel that way. If you think David Tom was terrible, you need to tell your audience why you feel that way. Otherwise, you lose credibility. And Tiny, you think David Tom should be let go after a month’s time because he did not have chemistry with Amelia? First, I never thought Amelia had that much chemistry with Billy Miller. I know I am in the minority on this one, but it always seemed like Miller was carrying this rather somnolent and passive actress. Second, Tom did have chemistry with both Chelsea and Chloe, not to mention chemistry with his brother Jack and his mother Jill. Is it fair to fire this actor because he cannot carry the rather weak actress who plays Victoria?

Lol Someone else who feels like I do about AH/Victoria I will say this about her and it is not bashing but if I had romantic pictures on twitter with a co-star but none of my husband I think my husband would start to wonder. I think that is odd and unprofessional someone needs to let it go. Blind item in SOD about a returned vet who was having a hard time adjusting again to the pace of Daytime. David Tom? He has been gone a while and I know a lot of actors claim it is tough. Side note everybody thank a veteran today for their service remember Memorial Day is not about what you are grilling for dinner.
david tom does have chemestry with missy egan (chelsea) the show could have explored but decided not to.
I was not a fan of DT in the role of Billy at all. In addition to no chemistry with either Victoria or Kelly, he just looked too young for either of them. I would much rather have an older actor in the part, and I don’t think that the new guy looks as old as Jack as someone previously mentioned. Let’s give him a chance since we can’t get BM back.

Ive watched DTs episodes and seen a fine actor…i know GH is run amok with too many characters but i wouldnt mind seeing him play Dillion Quartimaine…Most of Monicas side of the family is gone so now its up to Tracys side to bring back the Q’s!!!
Jim, I like that idea. And since Dillon is already an established character, I would not object to Dillon coming back at all. I think David Tom’s Dillon would be a hoot interacting with Traci.
People might forget that David Tom can be quite funny. His storyline has been so dark his natural humor has not been able to come out.

I am sorry that David Thom was let go but I have to agree that he was not right for the part of Billy Abbott. Billy Miller left some very large shoes to fill and to be honest I do not think any other actor can fill them. Y&R execs. have made some major mistakes this past year. First was letting Michelle Stafford go and then when she was ready to go back to Daytime TV, they did not try to get her back. Second, they let Billy Miller go and Thirdly, they fired Michael Muhney.
When Jeanne Cooper passed away there was a major void on the show and to lose 3 major characters one right after the other was CRAZY! WAKE UP Y&R! Before it is to late…..Whoever you have running the show and whoever you have writing the scripts is who needs to leave!

they didn’t let Billy Miller and Michelle Stafford go. They quit. Michael Muhney was rightfully fired. On another note, back when BM first appeared, he said that he studied a lot of David Tom’s reels from youtube to get to know the character of Billy. The irony.. because people forget that this was DT’s role first.
When I said let go, I meant they let them leave without fighting to keep them. They let Billy Miller go instead of agreeing to let him do other projects which had been allowed in the past. It was David Thom’s role as a teenager, problem is the character Billy Abbott was no longer a teenager, but a father that lost his child. David Thom was not right for the part any longer.
Maybe the show just needed confirmation from Billy Miller that Y&R would be his first priority.So maybe they were willing to give him the time off but they have just wanted his word that he would always come back to Y&R.Plus like i said in above post maybe the show wanted him to multi-year deal and not just another one year contract because they were tired of negotiating with him every year.

It’s difficult for anyone to be fired for any reason. As a much younger actor David Tom was a great fit for the role of “teenage Billy”. It is conspicuous that he is not the actor for this role now. Best luck to Tom’s but definitely looking forward to a better fitting actor for the role.
He was grown like 28 he just looks young but that’s great for the show…He made Amelia look younger and they weren’t given a fair chance…I’m very disappointed in the show right now

I think it took a little for us to get used to this new Billy Abbott but he finally did it! I thought he gave it his all. He was a wonderful actor filling in that position. I thought he looked so much like the previous Billy and followed in his footsteps great. Now, we are getting another Billy and it infuriates me because all the old actors and actresses are leaving the show. What is happening to this soap. I’ve been watching this show for years and others that have gone too. I am so displeased with what is happening now it just isn’t the same anymore. It has lost ratings and people are just not too pleased with the writers storyline anymore. It needs something dramatic to bring back all the viewers again. Writers better think of something or else we are gone as viewers.

That’s exactly what I thought. Nothing has become of the things he was excused of either. I really wish they bring him back, he was so good in the role. He should have been nominated for the role of Adam, he was that good. Phelps needs to be fired, and some of the writers too. They have been holding on to the story lines way too long. Like the one with Sharon.
MTS did tweet about MM’s exit but it was removed.In her tweet she said the show wasn’t to blame and that any actor would have been fired under those circumstances.She also wrote it was a terrible loss for the show and it sickened her that that happened.So in MM’s case maybe his co-stars were advised not to say anything about his leaving.
why should she have given him a heartfelt tweet? they weren’t friends. She and David Tom were and she can tweet what she wants. It’s common knowledge that MM wasn’t very liked on set, and if allegations are true, he didn’t deserve a “heartfelt goodbye””

I don’t think GH would ever recast Robin unless they knew for sure that KMC was never coming back.There might be some roles that can’t be recast and Robin might be one of them.Plus i don’t know if any actress would want to try to replace KMC as Robin.As for Elizabeth Hendrickson i could see her been on GH but maybe as Brooklyn.

I totally agree! Many years ago he was perfect in the role. But Billy Miller came on board and made the character his own. He left tough shoes to fill! As much as I like David Tom, I tried but could not see or feel the chemistry with Amelia Heinle, which is a shame, because the characters of Billy and Victoria are magic together. David Tom wasn’t being brought on the replace Billy Miller. Ever.
He was brought back to role he originated to evolve the character.
Phelps is an idiot to release an Emmy award winner actor because one actress didn’t have chemistry with him. You test different potential pairings for chemistry. You don’t replace the actor.
She doesn’t know what she’s doing, and never really has in the casting dept.
Look at Kelly.

This was so sweet of her and she is right he is a very great Actor I for one love him as Billy and I know a lot of people didn’t think so but this was the Billy Abbott I knew from when he first came to Y&R. There will be no one I mean no one to play the role of Billy like Billy Miller no matter who you get they will not measure up To Billy Miller. Sad they will do this now as we were getting use to David Tom I hope another soap natch him up. David Tom we will miss you and Like Melody said don’t let this get you down. I agree he was not as good as Billy as the previous actor but he deserved more of a chance and not because Jill didn’t like him…that sucks. My problem with the show right now is the bitch that Lilly has turned into…not a good story line with Neil and Hillary but she needs to butt out!

MTS has been friends with the Tom’s for years and her husband Ed Scott is still working with Heather over at B&B she is not being two faced about this if everyone remembers she did the big CBS promotion about DT coming back. I might add he created the character and did quite well for three years. I just think it could have been done with a little more class you know HT has delivered 5 emmys for CBS and DT 1. Respect!!!

I think it is very sweet. I am highly upset by David Tom being let go….The Fans complaints about him looking young was just retaliation towards JFP and the fact that they are really upset about Miller leaving….This is a huge mistake…it doesn’t make sence…David is a great actor…They should have put him with Chelsea or hire a new Chloe that they can put Tom with…like Katie Peretti from ATWT. ..why hire a new Billy….Who looks Jack’s age instead of his little brother…they need to hire Tom back this is ridiculous!
There is an old expression and that is once you leave home you it’s not the same going back and for the most part it doesn’t work. Well, David Tom tried going back but it just didn’t work.
I feel sorry for anyone who loses a job but when one door closes another one opens and I hope Mr. Tom finds a place where he isn’t trying to fill someone else shoes. And they didn’t fit.
As for JFP she needs to be replaced because in the process of saying I am boss and we do what I say she lost this soap 500,000 viewers. Was it worth it?
Les Moonves of CBS programming there is still a chance to get your viewers back:
1. Get rid of JFP first of all before she does more damage, and
2. work on getting back the loyal fans you have lost, and
3. admit the mistakes that have been made and although it will take a while try to correct what can be corrected, move on.

I am happy they are replacing David Tom, I am sad he lost his job but this was not the role for him. I fast forward his scenes. He looks to young for this role and I can’t see him being paired romantically with anyone on the show. I welcome Burgess Jenkins with open arms, I don’t know him but I am READY for a change of Billy. I said from the get-go this recast would not make it. This is one time they should have put time and distance between Billy and David by sending Billy Abbott away for awhile. Billy Miller, IMO, is a phenomenal actor and really had big shoes to fill. It was a big mistake to bring him on so soon after Miller’s departure. That is on JFP. Her first big mistake was not really seriously negotiating with Billy. That’s on her too. She stopped negotiating early on and she had no intention of keeping him. She even said the viewers would say they were going to quit watching but really wouldn’t. Another big mistake on her part. The viewers did stop watching to the tune of one million plus.
I do not believe the viewers who left after the 30th of January left because of David Tom. The writing is deplorable. A Junior High Journalism class could write better than these folks on any given day. It wasn’t like that in 2010 so there is a clear difference. I understand that, once again, JFP is the one that tosses out the storyline ideas. Big mistake. She can’t do jack unless it is for her friends. Her nepotism is out of control. I think that is why she let Miller get away.
I quit watching after the January 30th episode because of the way she treated Billy Miller but I was only hanging on because of him anyway. The writing already had him as the biggest ass on the earth because his daughter died and when they had him tear up the sheets with Kelly that destroyed the core of this character. Even had he stayed I doubt that I would have been a viewer much longer. It is sickening what they have done to the characters on this show all for the nepotism and plot points.
Don’t get me wrong. I do honestly believe MAB had to go. Her heart was not into it and she was letting the inmates run the show while she was at museums etc. Some of her stuff was incredibly bad. I was happy she was gone and I tried to adjust to JFP. She waltzed in and fired several people that didn’t need firing and quickly ensconced her buddies in high places making them rooted deep in the fiber of Genoa City. That, too, in my book was a mistake.
Killing Delia was a mistake. BIG mistake. You would have thought she would have learned after she killed off Maureen Bauer on Guiding Light and the backlash is still felt to this day but no, she did it anyway. The backlash was huge for killing off Jake on General Hospital but she is like Teflon, she went right ahead and killed Delia. Gave the actors plenty of Emmy reels but most of them are gone and it got her nowhere.
She is the problem. She always has been from the time she came upon the scene of the mess Maria made and made it ten times worse. I gotta ask, WTF is the matter with Sony and CBS? Even Stevie Wonder can see this isn’t working so fix it once and for all and quit playing games before they can’t get back any of those million plus viewers if they tried.

If some haven’t noticed, soap writers and etc are very very hard to come by..
No TV writers want the burden of writing soaps, the daily scripts, 30 characters to write for, and all the back stories to hook to and on and on and on it goes, they do not want to do that..
Those days are gone..
There are less EP and HW etc for soaps..
So, there most likely would not be a decent replacement that even knows how to do anything soap wise.. the ones that were are happily retired..
I would also imagine, they would not want to put with the fans; I don’t blame them..
JFP most likely is going nowhere..

To me, Y&R has become an endless revolving door of pretty awful acting, unwatchable newbie characters and (most of all) snooze-filled story lines. At this point, I feel like us loyal Y&R viewers could write WAY BETTER MATERIAL than those clueless Y&R writers…LOL!!!!! Yep.
They responded to the backlash, and are replacing the Billy character.
Now they are getting backlash for trying to make the fans happier by
the replacement. They can’t win, it seems!

The show hasn’t lost its way. The EP is lost at the helm.
Y&R has a lot of problems right now and maybe lost it’s way but it is not because of one actor. Everybody does that they become obsessed with an actor it is an ensemble act that makes it work. I thought I would never get over Terry Lester leaving Y&R as the original Jack but slowly I adjusted to Peter Bergman he has a different style. Which actor do I prefer as Jack the late great Terry Lester but TL chose to leave I had to move on or stop watching maybe everybody who can’t get over Miller ought to do that.
Heartfelt? Why use Twitter then, pick up a phone or take the guy out for dinner and express your “heartfelt” feelings … this was inappropriate IMO…. I’m in the camp that has seen this coming every since he came in. Just Shocked that JFP actually paid attention to the fans on this, since se disrespects us on everything else! He looks like a baby with Victoria, and there is no way he would have been able to shoot a sex scene with the new Kelly, also his senior, without everyone laughing! THis was the right move! He wasn’t right!
David Tom is a great actor…..and he would have been fine playing the role HE CREATED. The problen is he was not expected or being allowed to play Billy Abbott……..he was expectedand by the writing was being forced to play Billy Miller playing Billy Abbott….and that was not fair to him. Billy Miller did not “become” Billy Abbott in 4 short months yet the show…..but more so….the fans expected David to do that. what the show should have done is had both Adam and Billy be gone for a while. Then have one come back followed by the other. that would have eased the transitions in both cases. Also i really beleive that JFP pulled David Tom in to either make BM change his mind or to really stick it to BM. And clearly that backfired. Now an actor is unemploted and we as viewers are required to “begin again.
DT did not create the roll of now grown/man Billy, Billy Miller did…
DT was a kid, his first six-year period he was a minor ALSO portrayed by other various child actors.
In 1999, David Tom began portraying Billy as a `teenager.
So, he was never anything near as the now Billy..
And, he did not fit the roll of the married Billy, he was horrible as the man Billy..
It is good and bad..

I also think David Tom’s first scenes back were written for Billy Miller in mind and not DT.So maybe the writers needed time to figure out how to write for DT and his strengths as an actor.As for JFP i’m wondering if she rehired DT as a publicity stunt of sorts because then she could say we got the original actor back.If David Tom had worked out JFP would have looked good and gotten the praise for getting him back to play Billy.Now by replacing him JFP can now say she listened to the fans and even blame them for David Tom not working out.

I would expect nothing less from such a classy lady. I belong to a large FB soap fan page of 16,000 members and there are mixed feelings about the firing all the way around. We all would have loved to see Billy Miller come back of course, but David Tom just did not fit the part of Billy Abbot any longer. Maybe in his younger days when he played the younger Billy he was more suited for the part. Billy Miller expanded that character and made it his own and those are big shoes to fill. There was absolutely no chemistry between him and his Costar and you could tell that She certainly wasnt feeling it. I think her message to him was sincere and from the heart. She was on Y&R from day one and Billy has been on there before to so I’m sure he is like family. I like Billy, not in this roll for Victoria but I would like him somewhere on the show, they are like family go me to. My children was just little when I started watching the Y&R and my daughter will be 49 in August. I have a picture of me with Victor when he was visiting Wyondotte , Michigan .
