Savvy General Hospital viewers got a bit of unexpected intel during Friday’s credits of the ABC daytime drama series.

As the show rolled the credits of the cast in the lower-third of viewers TV or computer screens, Michael Easton was credited as appearing in the episode as “Hamilton Finn”, even though he was not in it.

Thus, viewers learned an episode early that Hamilton Finn is the name of Easton’s highly-anticipated character.   The popular actor, who is returning in a new incarnation following being killed off as Dr. Silas Clay, will make his official return on Monday’s March 21st installment of GH.  It had been previously reported that Easton will play another doctor.  Fans should find out soon just what type of doctor Hamilton Finn is!

Speculation making the rounds is that because all GH episodes got pushed back one today from their original airdate, starting with the March 11th episode due to ABC’s preemption for the funeral of former first lady Nancy Reagan, that perhaps the credits did not get switched to match it.

Meanwhile, as soon as social media got wind that Easton’s new character would be named “Hamilton Finn”, even a new Twitter page for the character went up under the handle @DrFinnGH

On Michael Easton’s official facebook page it reveals the the fan favorite’s first three episodes back to the General Hospital will air March 21, 22, and 23.

So, what do you think of Easton’s new GH character name?  How do you Hamilton Finn will enter into the story on Monday’s episode?  Excited to see Michael’s new alter-ego now that you know his name?  Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

I really don’t care what his characters name is I’m just so happy Michael Easton is back. Although the name is really cool. Welcome back Michael!!!

Yes!!

Love that ME is back! Wished he was a Cassidine but I am overjoyed to have one of my all time favorites back on my screen!

He could still be a Cassadine 🙂

I really wanted his name to be Cassidine !
But– Hamilton Finn is cool, I only hope the character will be too.
He best be a bad boy, an exciting guy, a dark mysterious man…the kind I wanna hate&love and tame! 😉
I really wish that easton can bring new viewers, and take care of this;

MAR 12, 2016 ..
ABC Daytime’s General Hospital shed 30,000 total viewers over the previous week and was down 304,000 compared with last year.
GH averaged a 2.17 in households.

I’m counting on Easton/Hamilton to give GH a very badly needed boost of intrigue and suspense ..
Looking forward to checking out the new Doctor..

Maybe his name isnt really Hamilton Finn…maybe its really Huckleberry Finn Cassidine and he and best friend Tom Sawyer Hardy will go on many adventures together…lol

lol

I can live with the name. I’m just glad Michael Easton is back!

Or he could actually be that Valentine Cassidine that Helena was so afraid of.

That’s what several of us said who we wanted him to be under a previous posting…still could happen?

With all due respect, that Valentin Cassadine thing everyone brings up whenever a new male character/new actor enters the scene was from like five head writers ago. Its not happening that storyline.

Its like Julian Jerome meeting a guy in a van during a witness protection
program transfer who looked just like Luke. Clearly that was Bill Eckert, but then when fans online guessed that, Carlivati switched gears and made Luke have a split personality instead.

Or its like the time Helena slit open the lining on the back of an old painting and found an envelope. There was supposed to be some great mystery in the envelope the painting contained. It was never followed up on.

Or how about when Stefan Cassadine thought he knew Jax’s first wife Miranda from somewhere. But then that actress left the show and that storyline was never again mentioned.

Or early in Alexis’ entree into the series where she was writing a letter to a mystery person she called “my love.” That storyline was never followed up on, either. I always chalked that one up to her writing the daughter she long ago gave up for adoption, but we were years from knowing that Sam was that child or that Alexis had given up a baby upon birth. If I recall correctly, we didn’t even know yet Alexis was Mikkos’s illegitimate child; we were told she was a cousin whose parents had died.

Or course nothing compares to the fact that Stavros was originally Mikkos’s cousin. Then years later they made him Stefan’s brother and both became Mikkos and Helena’s sons. But that’s not so much a never pursued storyline as a show history rewrite. Like Holly saying she never knew Bill Eckert 🙂

And I thought Silas Clay was a stupid name. This one is even worse.

AMEN.. NOW CALLING HANOVER FISK…

Joe – I agree 100%…dumb name. However it makes me think that he has a “real name” which will serve as a reveal somewhere down the line. After all, GH needs to tie him in to a legacy family, not the Finn family. Above all else, I hope they give this character a sense of humor! Easton characters – on all shows – have all been so sour.

Because his acting is there was no reason for either side to agree to this incarnation nonsense yet again

Agreed! Maybe the writers really dig the new Broadway play! What will they call him for short? Ham?!

Hoping there is something that makes this character different than the last 4, or was it 5, characters he played on GH. Each of those characters were paired with Sam, those just didn’t work for me. I’d like to see him paired with Ava or Nina, he had chemistry with them. Perhaps maybe Liz. Liz’s character could sure do with a change, something better than obsessing over Jason, who seems to have definitely moved on with Sam. I just can’t get too excited about seeing the same actor keep playing character, after character on the same show.

I’m with you Bren…it’s ridiculous that this actor is playing his FOURTH character on the same fricking show! Two different characters is pushing it, but FOUR?
I guess I’m OK with Easton coming back, even though I’ve not been a big fan of him or ANY of his romantic relationships…except for John & Evangeline on OLTL,
I hope they can find the right woman for him this time around. I agree that Sam is NOT the right one for him anymore, and please keep him away from Elizabeth! She is poison for just about every man she gets involved with. Forget Ava too; she’s a murderer and also poison. Nina will need someone when Franco refuses to give her a baby.

I agree… I am not excited at all. He is a great character but enough.. after four tries on the show to make it work with him…. give up!!! This says a lot about the writers and their concern for the fans that watch the show.. How can you expect the fans to keep embracing a character over and over due to bad writing and wanting to keep a character on the show and keep bringing him back. I can understand once, but enough..

They were all different characters. The problem is Easton is what he is. He doesn’t have the range or ability to portray characters that are different and unique in their characteristics and mannerisms.

I have to agree with you.

although… I was so taken with his last days… when he was taking care of an ailing Ava… that I honestly, thought… this is IT … this is where he belongs… with Ava

but

as most folks have said… he’s that brooding cop…

so… i’m not sure if he’s taking the risk to act outside the box

OK

I have to agree… I think it was @Alan… someone posted… they could think of 10 plus more actors that could have been recast or brought back

He’s going to have to fire right outa the gate? to make an impact, before we become indifferenct

I am hoping that he is really Valentine Cassidine the man that Helena told Luke about. She was so afraid of Valentine. Think of the havoc and chaos the man that terrified Helena could bring down on Port Charles.

That was the great hope for many of us, Mary!…..CeeCee and I speculated upon this possibility on numerous occasions. Guess we shall just have to wait and see if our collective wish is eventually granted…..

I was hoping he wouldn’t play the role of another doctor but Oh Well…
I guess he couldn’t be a corporate raider like Jax. Or anyone different.

I think he’s Nina’s Dr.that she sees for her fertility

totally agree after reading your comment ! guess we’ll find out Monday.

Really hoping Mr. Easton will get his due this time around.

A terrific actor, hopefully they will steer away from the Kelly Monaco effect, that train has long left the building. I’m hoping that this character is more of an impact instead of a filler void.

Can’t wait to see what happens, but hopefully, Mr. Easton will have juicy material that we can eat for lunch and dinner.

I like ME, but I think he has gotten his due plenty of times. There are plenty of actors who can turn sh*t into sugar with just one role.

First of all since the name is not what was spoiled how do we know he’s a doctor? In the credits the characters who are doctors have Dr. next to their names. Of course GH could be playing us.

Also Nina said she had a doctor’s appt with a specialist–so that could be him. And could he also be Hayden’s ex?

We’re already reading something into the absence of Dr. In front of his name and it could be that the person who does the credits simply forgot!

So we get three days of Dr. Finn, but no Dr. SexyPecs? Yawn

I was hoping his name would be either Arnold Ziffle or Chewbacca…oh,well…lol

or Barnabas Collins-VAMPIRE!…lol

I bet Hamilton Finn is a bad guy just to throw us for a loop although since TPTB know we all love Michael Easton, the character will have redeemable points to make us forgive him from time to time. It’s only my guess though. I don’t have a clue what this new doctor is going to be about.

I like Michael a lot as an actor, but it’s downright ridiculous that he gets to play yet ANOTHER newly created role on this show, hogging airtime at the expense of GH veterans. This has reached the point of zero believability. If TPTB really think that this will help attract new younger viewers to this show or lure back casual lapsed fans, I think they’re sorely mistaken. It just further illustrates how out of touch Frank Valentini is as the executive producer and what a massive ego he has. Too much loyalty to one of his former OLTL boys.

Plus, Hamilton Finn is a ridiculous name. Seriously, who thinks up the character names for this show? LOL. Get with the times. And I thought Silas Clay was absurd.

I love the name…Hamilton is now on Broadway starring Renee Elise Goldsberry who, I think, was his greatest love Evangeline on OLTL. So they stay connected by the name. Finn is just a cool name. Does anyone know if this is a contract role? I hope there is a back story that ties him to Port Charles and is written to showcase Michael’s incredible talent. I love him…I just didn’t think that Silas was a well developed character. I remember around the holidays of 2014 he was hardly on GH and he came back looking very thin. I was hoping he wasn’t sick. Now he looks better than ever, and I can’t wait to see him back on GH again.

Lisa,
Yes his character did have a relationship with Evangeline, however his greatest love on OLTL was Natalie played by Melissa Archer.

Completely agree Natalie was his one true love.

Thank you Sara…I know in the show that Natalie was supposed to be his great love, but I saw more chemistry and sexual tension with Evangeline. I didn’t see it with Natalie…but that is just my opinion.

ITA Sara, but Lisa did say “I think” Evangeline was his greatest love .. that was her personal favorite! I wasn’t watching when she was on, but from what I gather, it was a raging fan war and Evangeline was thrown under the bus for Jolie. As much as I loved Jolie, I sympathize with Lisa.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Michael is returning to GH, Name is Lame, don’t need another Doctor, wish they would get rid of that Hateful gray haired doc don’t like him at all !!! Was hoping he would return as Silas Clay back from the dead and be KIKI’s Dad again..or a Casadine, but REALLY would prefer him play the GOOD COP he was, & Bring Natalie on GH where that would REALLY BE CHEMISTRY, Let Liz move away & have our “John & Natalie ” back together again…. HOPE HE PLAYS A GOOD GUY, NOT A BAD ONE!!!! Really been HAPPY for him to play a Cop with Natalie at the PCPD too…. But IM JUST HAPPY HE IS BACK & HOPE THEY GIVE HIM A LOT OF AIRTIME….

Yeah, Sara….everytime i think of John and Natalie, I get all chocked-up….sparks always flying when they were together in any scene. Ahhhh, those days!

Still hoping we get to see ME and MA work their magic again…

You people are getting me so nostalgic. I agree Michael and Melissa need to be reunited. They rocked it! Love them both

I like the first name Hamilton , but Finn not so much. Maybe Renee Goldsberry can’t do a guest appearance, as a former love interest. I also think she was Michael’s best acting partner, two really talented actors.

I totally agree with you Lisa Evangeline and John were the best. Michael’s character Hamilton could be paired with Jordan, I think they would have good chemistry together.

I liked Evangeljne too. Thought they were great together.

There’s been chatter on the Soap Central board suggesting that Finn be paired with Jordan. I must say I agree with those who are pushng the pairing because I think the Two could create a spark.

I think he’s going to be the fertility doc that’s been discussed or an on/gyn since Sabrina confirmed her back with her new baby playing the part!

I know that a lot of people will disagree with me,but I don’t want to see another attempt at an Easton/Monaco pairing,it worked once over 15 years ago when they played Caleb and Livvie, but it didn’t work with Sam and John or Sam and Silas.

Totally agree.

Got that right

I HATE it when they bring back the same actors for different characters on the same show! With all the actors in the world, they could pick someone else. That said, I DO REALLY like Michael Easton. However, he will always be a vampire to me….:)

This is response to the anger GH generated from the legion of Michael Easton fans for killing Silas.

It’s odd that the other two characters have Dr. before their names. Why not Hamilton Finn if, in fact, the character is a doctor? maybe not a doctor…

So, what, are they gonna call him “Hammy”? Ugh .. I love Michael Easton, but bringing him back to play one character after another is getting comical.

I am still wondering if they are going to address the fact the new doctor looks just like Silas Clay or are we just going to pretend there is no resemblance?

I can only imagine the conversation at Easter when relatives who normally don’t watch GH watch with relatives that do. Relative One who has never watched- Who’s that guy? Relative Two that’s John McCain; Relative Three –no they had to get rid of the character so that is Silas Clay, Relative Four- Nope they killed Silas, he is now Hamilton Finn, Relative Four- I thought he was some vampire dude; Relative One– Wait, who’s that guy again? LOL

Easton; GH–
John McBain (short lived Prospect Park lawsuit..
then–
Caleb alter ego of Michael Morley (alternate identity)
Stephen Clay (alternate identity)
All ^^^^ the same guy
Then Silas ..

(now Hamilton)

Hamilton Finn…I like it. Hey…I’ve heard WORSE…W-A-Y WORSE!!!!! Just saying……….

Maybe he will go by “Finn”. If so, that is cool. I just hope they let ME’s charisma shine through. When you see him in interviews or even just the recent “Back to the Party” promos, he is so charming and oodles of charisma! The writers need to tap into that version of ME.

Yes yes yes…I agree!!! Michael is so charming and charismatic but it didn’t show as Silas. I do hope they tap into that with his next character.

Just a hunch – Hamilton Finn will ultimately go by Finn Cassadine (or Spencer, Quartermaine, Baldwin, etc.).

Since GH changed name from what we were told – Marcus Byrne – do you think he also may NOT be a doc? In the credits, the other guys were listed as Dr Andre, Dr Griffin, etc but he was just “Hamilton Finn” no Dr…

Actually I like Marcus Byrne better.

Hamilton Finn? Sounds like a whiskey!

Or a brokerage firm.

Timmm…Just had a thought….maybe Michael will be a doctor with a bit of a sense of humour. What a change for GH, and Michael who is usually way more serious.

Rose, I think they are going dark this time with ME.

Timmm…you’re probably right about Michael going dark, or at least serious. That’s been his MO as an actor forever. Figure when tptb got together with him about coming back, and pitched a scenario it would have to be something he felt he could do something with. Just hope he smiles once in a while.

Hi, Timmmy.
Lol. Finn is Scottish/Irish. It means white, fair and hero…of the people(Finn Mac Cumhail). The name Fiona, “white flower” is a derivative of it.
I bet Finn is directly linked to Griffin…..too many coincidences. And, as i said weeks ago; does Hayden fit into this? Her ex? Am i fantacizing? MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING?
Happy Palm Sunday, Timmm.

God bless you to! I hope you and your family enjoy PS and Easter! Spring is here!

@Timmm.
Thank you.

@CeeCee….There is definitely some tie-in to a legacy character for Hamilton Finn at hand here, but which one? It’s been said that he is seeking vengeance upon a Port Charles resident, but who? I’ve been ruminating over his name….first I thought perhaps it was a word anagram? But I couldn’t come up with anything that made sense in relation to GH history. The only remote connotation that rings a bell is that a teenaged Laura accidentally killed a man named David Hamilton. Hmmmm……As for a Hayden link? I certainly hope not….but in terms of Duke or Griffin? A definite maybe, although I should still like the mysterious Finn to have a Cassadine connection.

@Timmm.
Oh, Timmm. Dr Finn is probably the infectious disease specialist.
Also, su0000 and I ( as per my husband) called it !!.

@Shay.
Hey, Shay,
I do agree with you…..Cassadine all the way. I hold the same hope.
Did you notice the malevolent glimmer in Hamilton’s eyes, today, as he was on the phone with Monica? Petting his pet lizard? LOL.
Oh, yeah!! This guy has ruination and mayhem on the brain. Timmm did say he would walk in as a dark character.
I hope not too ” Lucifery “, though.
Your Laura theory is very interesting. Hmmmm, a mask, maybe. Is Faison back? I miss his scenes with Liesl. LOL. Buonanotte.

Very Exciting! Calling Dr. Finn. Emergency – I have to catch up on GH w their hot new Drs.!!!! Luv ME, (Michael Easton) – its like he dies and is reborn, almost vampirish.

Sounds Scottish to me as in Duke Lavery/ Griffin Monroe tie-in?

Yup, Sharon…that’s what I said, as well.

I’m sooooo happy Michael is back! I love the name and I hope he goes by Finn. Its going to be a great week for a party!!!

Wonder how long it will be before he climbs into bed with Tits and Tears Sam McCall?

I pray they dont pair him with Sam again!

Certainly hope not. Been there, done that and FAILED!

Hope Easton’s new character is going to be a good guy, a white knight with no ties to the mob, anyone who has ever been in the mob, or dubious law enforcement. I really wouldn’t mind if he were a Cassadine. At least the Cassadines are upfront about who they are.

Dr. Hamilton Finn. Dr. Ham Finn. Dr. Surf N. Turf. I just glad Mr. Easton is back!

Does not matter to me WHO he plays or what his name is. I am just SO thrilled to have him back on GH!!! 😀

I’m so excited that Michael is back! I can’t wait to meet Hamilton Finn! I am sure Michael will be fabulous!

I embrace Michael Easton back with open arms! I am excited to make tge acquaintance of Dr Hamilton Finn!

ME actually does have range and has shown a sense of humor, but the actors don’t write their own lines. They can only work with what they’ve been given. Initially I thought he should’ve been Franco and Roger should have played Silas, but that’s just “too out of the box ” thinking. Maybe he should split his time between writing and acting.

He premieres today! He is both more stylish and…evil! I am
Intrigued!

He’s back again? This really stretches credibility to its limits. As for Mr. Easton, he is a one-trick pony with no range whatsoever. Why they keep resurrecting him — after one failed GH role after another — is beyond me.

Is his lizard’s name, Roxy, in reference to Roxie on OLTL? I’m glad he’s back with any name! He’s fun to watch in this character. Shows his versatility ☺

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

on

By

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

Photo: ABC

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do?
