Courtesy/ABC
Daytime legend and seven-time Daytime Emmy winner, Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer) will be the very special guest on this Monday’s episode of The View at 11AMEST on ABC. Monday is the actual date of the 50th anniversary of the iconic ABC daytime drama, having debuted on April 1, 1963!
Geary is expected to discuss his career portraying the wonderfully unpredictable Luke Spencer since 1978, and what to expect all this week on General Hospital in celebration of the show’s Golden Anniversary.
Honoring 50 historic years on ABC, General Hospital is the longest running scripted drama currently in production and the third longest-running drama in American television history. To mark the show’s Golden Anniversary, General Hospital reprises the immensely popular Nurses’ Ball, a fictional charity event complete with musical performances from the illustrious citizens of Port Charles dedicated to HIV/AIDS awareness.
OK GH fans, what has been your favorite amount of Luke Spencer’s and performance of Anthony Geary over the decades he has been on the show? Weigh-in!

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Serena Sets Her Sights on Michael; Jason’s Emotional Exit from the Mob

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”
Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.
Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.
Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.
Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.

Wish it as on a differet network.don’t watch ABC exept GH.Little to late now for me to for ABC to now start promoing is only one remaining soap…shoud have done this for AMC and OLTL
It is never too late. AMC & OLTL are gone, yes. GH needs viewer support. Great that it is getting promotion.
I agree
Yea, Jim. It seems like quite a few “Llanview” or character named posters are hoping for the cancellation of GH. It is as if they don’t want it on the air because theirs isn’t. Sad. I don’t begrudge them their show. Shame they don’t have respect for ours.
Agree whole heartedly. I hope GH fans don’t feel they are out of the woods. I would not be surprised if GH was gone by the end of the year.
Are you wishing for it to be cancelled so you can say say u was right? The network already renewed it til 2014 so it wont be off this year. And if it does get cancelled it wont be the end of the world for me. I just enjoy it while its still here and i enjoy everything else i like while im still here.
@llanview717. you should spend more time worry about your OLTL2. Just because it got resurrected doesn’t mean it won’t die again.
Not at all. I do not wish GH to be cancelled. I have great respect for the cast and crew and commend them for soldiering on over the last few years. I don’t have faith the network.
Love the character of Luke, always have. Congrats to GH
me too! been loving Luke since he came onboard…
Don’t watch The View anymore. But i will make this one exception because Anthony Geary is on!
Love the Luke and Laura on the run, their wedding and Luke’s adventures with him Buddy scorpio.
mmm… do I smell cake?! 😀
GH is being promoted highly.. And that is a good thing for GH..
All the people complaining and bitchin that ABC was not promoting GH, well, all these talk shows appearances that the cast have been on talking of GH, and there have been many, all the interviews, all the soap magazines in our grocery check-out lanes, is all promotion .. lol .. The Nurses Ball is near a household name !! LOL 🙂
GH has a future!! .. HALLELUJAH !!!
I don’t watch the View. I will watch clips of his visit if I can. I am happy that ABC is promoting GH and recognizing Tony’s years of contribution to GH’s success!!! He is an awesome talent and we are lucky to have him on GH!!! I love GH and want it to have 50 more years!!! Congratulations Tony for getting the chance to review your years on the best soap!!!
I love Luke too. Don’t watch the view but I surely will tune in to watch this time for Tony.
I love GH . I have 3 favorites of this show. Luke, Laura, & Jason. I really hated to see Steve Burton go!! I keep hoping they will hire another actor to play Jason Morgan. Here he was suppose to be the tough mob hitman for Sonny, so how could the toughest hitman die from 1 shot (not even in the heart), and a roll into the harbour? Jason was too tough to die from that so bring another actor in to play that character. Back to Luke, his parts with Laura & them being on the run were my most favorite parts out of the whole 50 years.
Technically speaking, “General Hospital” is only the SECOND longest running scripted drama, or the longest running AMERICAN scripted drama. “Coronation Street” holds the global record, having begun in 1960. GH has them, however in episodes!
i have loved the character of luke since he stepped foot in port charles – i was so hoping they would have more than one cast member on to celebrate the 50th anniversary like cbs did for y&r’s 40th………………………………
Fav Luke Spencer moment was when he typed, ” Ice Princess” on computer to unlock weather machine and he twirled all the way around in the air. Thanks for 50 GH!!!
I love all Tony’s scenes with his acting soulmate,
Genie Francis. They are magic together!
Anything where Luke’s love for Laura is apparent – I love when he’s passionate, funny, jealous, protective, even angry. He has always been able to show a whole range of emotion when he (Tony) works with Genie. Their magic is unsurpassed.
Love all of you on GH but me getting older and love some of the oldies who are still going strong. I am 50 yrs old now and have watched GH all my life. I wish all of you best of luck and thanks for all the good times GH has given me,……(could have left Katie C off the show though) Roll Tide lol
