Days Of Our Lives
More Details Emerge On Chandler Massey's Early Dismissal From DAYS!

In an exclusive with Michael Logan of TV Guide Magazine, ousted Days of our Lives fan favorite, Chandler Massey (Will Horton) spoke about his sudden departure from the series after having a few days to come to terms with the fact that he was let-go three months early from his contract.
According to the details presented by TVG: “Chandler was summoned at the end of his work day to the office of Greg Meng, the soap’s co–executive producer. During this meeting, Meng informed Massey, who had been planning to depart the NBC soap when his contract expired in December, that he would have to leave immediately because a replacement had already been hired. Massey exited the studio sans fanfare — no farewell party, no goodbyes, no nothing — and sources close to the young actor say he was devastated and in tears. ”
Now there is controversy over did DAYS to the right thing by letting Chandler go earlier? Or, did the actor put them in this position to start with? TVG reveals that the character of Will is going to be involved in a romantic triangle, and if a replacement has been found, why not make the switch sooner than later? Thus having to hold the new actor for months and paying him, without working him, is a loss of money for the series. On the flip side, their is the issue that Chandler apparently did not tell DAYS first, but the media at the Daytime Emmys that he was leaving at the end of his original contract in December. Thus causing them to quickly have to decide what to do with the character. All in all, technically Chandler was fired by DAYS, since he will not be paid for the 13 weeks he had left on his contract.
Regarding the fact that he will have no swan song cake and on set wrap party, Massey told TVG, “Even if I’d left the way I thought I would, a party was never on the table. I don’t like that sort of thing. I never want any fuss. But I’m going to miss everyone like crazy. I had so many incredible mentors at the show and made so many great friends.”
So what do you think about how the situation was handled? Do you think DAYS should have let Chandler continue playing the role of Will through to December? Do you think since the evitable was going to happen, and Chandler was exiting they did the best thing financially and for the long term success of Will’s story, by bringing in the new actor to inherit the role, sooner than later? Weigh-in!
Typical lousy Days treatment of male stars lately. What really bores me to tears is they’re saying Will will be in a love triangle. Seriously. They need new writers who DON’T recycle storylines and use love-triangles because they’re too lazy to write an actual storyline. Ugh. No wonder fans are leaving in droves and Days is lagging behind in the ratings.
You are right,Will’s leaving is awful, and a love triangle that stinks, days is getting boring now every one knows Sammy did the right thing and they won’t let her out of jail,I hate to look at it some times.Days bring back your fans.
Announcing it at the awards show without telling the producers in advance was the wrong move. It was like quitting. If they got a replacement-who will have to work hard to try to fill his shoes- then they have a right to do the fiscally responsible move.
I love CM and wish he was staying but I Agree. His move was a bit ala LeBron James leaving Cleveland. You should never info the media before your bosses.
I think it was wrong of Days to let Chandler go. They should have waited until his contract ended. They may lose a lot of viewers because of this. I wish Chandler the very best.
I think everything should have been done to keep Chandler. He totally embraces the role. They could have worked with him around his college schedule. And to treat him like they did, Shame on them.
I’m not a kid, I’m 65 and just drooled like crazy over Chandler and love the gay story line. It was a first and Chandler was the first. More should have been done. I will miss him.
I love Chadler as Will. However, this storyline was not the first openly front and center storyline in Daytime soaps. A first for DOOL, yes. One Life to Live did it with Oliver and Fish and I think it was Guiding Light with Noah and ??
Hopefully whoever replaces Chandler will live up to the role. He has big shoes to fill!
It was ATWT with Noah and Luke…
The Noah and Luke story was in As The World Turns, Guiding Light did the story with Natalia and Olivia played by the super talented Crystal Chappell
That sounds awful tbh I mean I know he was going to leave by December but damn they just kinda ousted him.
This situation is not unique in daytime – especially when finances are tight.
Chandler is making a life transition back to full time student. In the end, this will probably be what is best for him. His friends and mentors will still be able to have a private party to wish him well.
Nothing will ever change the fact that Chandler Massey made a great contribution to DAYS. He has been recognized by the NATAS and the producers of the show.
I am happy for Chandler for making the decision to return to school to earn his education. Too many young actors dont have the resources and opportunity to build the best future they possibly can. And to control their own destiny.
Chandler will have time now to prepare for full time education in January. Godspeed.
Couldn’t the show be sued for breach of contract? He was willing to work until the contract lapse. He should at least be paid! Wrong move DOOL!
Exactly Mark, Chandler should get lawyered up and sue, perhaps a new agent while he’s at it. This guy won TWO EMMYS and DOOL gets Best DRAMA and he is canned by Corday!!! No need to watch DOOL anymore. What happens at Corday if you have a serious illness, canned for sure!!
Soap actors can be let go at the end of every 13 weeks cycle. This is true even under contract. He was let go at the end of the most recent 13 weeks cycle of his contract.
I think the way daytime contracts work is that they can be reconsidered in thirteen week cycles commensurate with the filming cycles. I would bet that he won’t have grounds to sue.
Actually, I don’t think Chandler can sue the show. They can drop a contract player every 13 weeks. So, if a story line or an actor isn’t working out, the show has the option of dropping the actor at the end of the 13 weeks. Harsh but true, I’m afraid..
This show is absolutely in shambles. Way to treat an actor who won you two Emmy awards, Days.
Days needs a complete overhaul from top to bottom, and it needs to get back actors it previously treated like dirt. You won’t get the fans back until you do.
Days isn’t respecting it’s fans or it’s veteran characters nor the history of the show and the fans have been shouting about it for months now – with little to no result.
If they don’t make it to their 50th, they’ll only have the writers & Ken Corday to blame.
I agree, been a fan for 29 years. Days can use new writers and replace Ken Corday!!!!
show business as usual, the show must go on…
Chandler was devastated and in tears?! HOW DARE THEY! Chandler should be able to continue on DAYS until his contract ends. Who cares about the new replacement? No one could play Will better than Chandler. I’m so sorry, Chandler. I wish you all the best, and hope that one day you’ll come back to DAYS. You ROCK!!!!!!
Because FINANCIALLY, they couldn’t pay 2 actors for 1 role, and only 1 would be utilized. It comes down to dollars and cents. Not hurt feelings. This is the way of the world.
I think Chandler made a mistake by telling the media that he was leaving at the Emmy ceremony. Days tapes 4 months in advance & this really put the show in a bad position because viewers could become disinterested in the WilSon story if they knew so far in advance he was leaving. Then Ken Corday made the mistake of saying that they would not recast Will, making a lot of viewers even more disinterested in WilSon because they thought that Will would be leaving Salem, die, or that both Will & Sonny would leave together. But Chandler is young & I’m sure didn’t mean anything bad by doing that. He just made a mistake.
If Days really wanted to start the new actor sooner than December, they could have at least given Chandler a couple of weeks notice before the switch happened, just so he could say goodbye to cast & crew properly. It would have been the professional way to handle things. I think it was wrong just to call him in at the end of the day and tell him to pack up and go. That seems so cold & mean spirited. For sure Chandler should have been given more notice than that so he could get used to the idea and say goodbye to everyone.
Frankly, I’m stunned Days would handle the situation in such a mean spirited, classless way – specially to an actor that through his work and TWO Emmys has brought so much good publicity and new fans to the show. Remember that the reason the show won an Emmy for Outstanding Drama (having only won once before – in 1975) was because of Mr. Massey’s work and the bold gay story-line. How then could they have simply called him in at the end of the day..and basically told him to pack up and leave – without even having had the tiem to say goodbye to his co-workers. It’s shameless! He was treated like a criminal. I know
Mr. Massey made a mistake (my God he is only 22 yrs old) by telling the press at the Emmys that he was leaving in December – before telling his bosses. But the way management acted by “retaliating” in such a unprofessional manner is heartbreaking! Again shame to Days’ management!
And as for a new storyline centering on a Will love triangle (like it happened with his Mom, Sammi) – oh boy, they are taking a beautiful, innocent relationship and turning into more soap crap. If this is the stuff the writers have in store for Summy and Will…then. Mr. Massey left the show at a good time. Good luck to the new Will; he will need it!
I just want to clarify that DAYS’ win for Best Drama this past year had nothing to do with CM. The episodes they submitted were the DAYSaster and the episode where it was revealed Nicole lost her baby/she wanted to kill herself on the stairs in the Horton Town Square. It didn’t have anything to do with CM or the storyline, other than being a part of the ensemble of DAYS.
However they did win a GLAAD award for Best Drama because of those reasons.
The rest I will not argue because I know it’s emotional for his fans but I do think in general people need to take a breath, relax and see the bigger picture. CM left his mark on DAYS, will take a lot with him as he journeys off, and the show will go on.
I dunno, I compare it more to giving your two weeks notice at a job, but the company has you stop working there immediately.
But still, could have been handled more tactfully, especially if they wanted to leave the door open for him to return.
Probably some wrong moves on both sides, but this is going to make it more difficult for any replacement to be accepted.
I know this might sound cold– but welcome to the real world CM. I know everyone likes to says the place they work at is like a family– but in reality they are not– they don’t have to throw you a party when you leave– they can drop you in a minute if it suits the bottom line—no matter how much they told you they loved you and your work. It happens all over the world every day— does it suck? Yeah– but business is business– never believe anyone you work for has your best interest in mind– or likes you like your real friends and family do– you will save yourself years of office politics and drama if you go in do your work, clock out and then go home and get your love from those who really love you.
it’s not cold… “…but welcome to the real world CM.”
young, impressionable, sure, smarts…. all this going on in someone 22 years old.
it’s the nature of the beast.. in this day and age… budget constraints… I swear this is the one, for lack of a better word… constraint… i bet, most fans, never wanted to hear.. as well.. let alone, the whole production teams of these networks… UGH. we all, feel the give and take.
OH! for us long time decades plus viewers… how we long for the good old days…
monies flowed… opulence…. grandeur… decadent… dynasty syndrome.
Chandler Massey! I am emotional for YOU. on so many levels… the gratitude… is way up their…. for delivering a product… and enchanting viewers and spellblinding the audience with superlative timely relevant human emanations.
it cuts right to the quick.. but… going with your gut instinct… and not looking back… and not questioning you made the right choice. you have support from people you don’t even know.
management on a personal and business level… human error abound. thinking beyond current feelings… the bigger picture….
I so hope… that Mr. Chandler Massey and his former employer… NBC/Sony/DOOL… have equal expectations… and will join forces again.
“…do your work, clock out and then go home and get your love from those who really love you.”
all things relative…. it’s your flight plan… and at the end of the day… if you’re sleeping well… then so be it.
I love Salem.. .and the acting troupe.
Thank You for all those involved.
you know… i could cry… and feel.
it’s not so much for Chandler Massey….
and the onset of a nuWILL.
it’s that the storyline at DOOL… STILL RESONATES within….
I have cried… joyous abandon and wonder that we can celebrate with
my heart for DAYS is full.
I agree here with Mary – I worked for a company 12 years and when they decided to cut people, my loyalty went out the window and my tail was kicked to the curb. I don’t recall getting a “good luck” party or a cake. Later on, I worked for a company for 6 years and when budget cuts came in, although I was so “totally loved” by everyone, I was let go and replaced by a younger guy who would do the job for less pay, even though the first mistake her made cost the company $20,000.oo – you get what you pay for.
So, I have empathy, but this young actor received the same treatment on, of course, a much higher pay scale. His reps are telling him most likely, “get out while you’re a hot property” so they can find other deals for him while he is a young commodity. Trust me on this – this is the way of the world. The producers of the show want to get the most mileage out of this character, so the sooner they re-cast the role (from their perspective), the better. This is the way of real world, often not mirrored or depicted on a Soap Opera.
Bingo! There is no loyalty at all in any field. I was terminated after 10 + years of service, and replaced with 2 1/2 FTEs. Yeah, that’s what happens. It’s all bottom line, no care about the quality. You can have 2 1/2 new grads for the price of experience ! F*** the clients! I should not have been surprised, bec. the same place laid me off the day my mother died. CM is still too young to understand what a faux pas he made letting the media know, prior to the mgt. This was a real learning experience for Mr. Massey. He played Will with grace, charm, and believability. He has great talent, and we should look forward to his career after college… in whatever professional capacity he chooses.
I have loved Chandler Massey since Day 1. I was so glad they brought him in to replace the other Will, and he was a better actor and a more believable character right away!! I think he has portrayed Will with a skill and a finesse that would have been lacking in almost any other actor. I would love to have seen him continue to play this role as long as he chose to do so, and am very disappointed that the executives chose to terminate his contract early. I wish him only the best, and hope to see him again soon!!
While I do not like it, I think that Days did the right thing for the story, the new actor and the fans, to give it all it’s best chance. Chandler is an Amazing Actor with a very loyal fan base. The chemistry between him and Freddie is going to be very hard to come close to. So by putting the actor in early, it gives the fans and story time to adjust to the new actor or make sure he can be that part. Hopefully the fans will come to be adjusted to this new actor and go for the stories he is involved in, instead of despising him for Chandler wanting to leave (though not this early) something the new actor had no control over. We have seen it plenty of times on different shows where the replacement actors are either not given a chance by a lot of the fans or they are just not a right fit for that part despite their ability.
He deserved better treatment from Days. I wish him the best for his future endeavors. By the way Days needs to bring the character of John Black back now. So miss Drake.
I want to give both sides the benefit of the doubt. I feel sorry this all happened, but it sounds like it’s one of those situations where both parties could have handled things better, but I don’t blame either side for their decisions they made. Actors move on, roles get recast. The show was in a bind, and made the most financially beneficial move. Was it the polite move, to the actor and to the fans? It stinks, but that’s show business.
I’d like to think their decisions were strategically based, and not vindictively driven.
Well Jules, think about it….it was a “vindictive” move on managements part because this actor CM, who worked there FOUR years and won TWO Emmys and was most certainly a good part of the best drama award the show received was dismissed summarily at the end of the day and sent packing….without a hint of fanfare or appreciation.Someone decided to kick his ass and disrespect his major contribution to a lackluster soap.Perhaps he was getting too big for the show and egos were involved and of course, a bigger salary. There were a number of ways this could have been handled by management dealing with a 22 year old but they didn’t and DAYS will probably suffer for it.
First, to your point of CM being responsible for the Outstanding Emmy win, that’s just not true. Other than CM being part of an ensemble cast, his work did not contribute to the win on a large scale. The episodes submitted were the DAYSaster and the one where Nicole admitted she lost the baby/was threatening to kill herself at the Horton Town Square.
Second, he was not “dismissed summarily”. He quit. He was dismissed only after he quit. No salary dispute. No ego. He wants to pursue education, and probably try his hands at other mediums, and he did not want DAYS to mix in on his real priorities.
Third, I would entirely argue your use of the term “lackluster soap” to apply to DAYS. I have been so engrossed and entertained all year long! I’m sorry if Wilson or Will is the only factor drawing you in, but I have not missed a single episode in at least a year.
Honestly, fans are heated and very emotional right now. That’s where a lot of these posts are coming from- the heart, not the head. Take a breath. When everything clears after some time has passed, think about this situation again. Chandler wants school, and DAYS wanted to use the nuWill they found so they wouldn’t have to pay 2 actors for 1 role. Both sides were doing what they felt was best for their own sake. I have fan favourites as well, I know where all this anger and visceral reaction is coming from. But when the dust settles, I hope you see that this is a sticky situation, one where no party was entirely in the right or wrong.
Dont care anymore…he announced he was leaving…they already found a replacement…move on…i liked CM but he’s not the first, and he wont be the last, actor to be replaced in a soap role…but Days needs to replace its writing team…they had a good few weeks awhile back but its going downhill real fast…
I wish Chandler the best with his academics. He is very talented. I hope that the door is always open at Days for Chandler to possibly return in the future.
Not a great way to treat a two time Emmy winner, considering Days does not get many accolades at the Awards show, besides Chandler’s wins and the win for best drama. If this is true, I think it is sad. I’m not a huge fan of the younger Days cast-Abs, Chad, T, Gabi, etc., but I did think that Chandler had a lot of talent.
Well let’s see he could have been told out in the parking lot by the security guard that he no longer was employed there or he could have been told in the hallway by a security guard that his dressing room was cleaned out and told to leave. I could go on and on hopefully they won’t try to blacklist him from getting other work funny how some shows tend to do that. I guess Charlie Sheen did know what he was talking about?
Days did nothing wrong! People are just going off emotion. Chandler made the announcement to the media, without telling Days. Remember Days tapes very far ahead. He is a fan favorite, so people aren’t gong to like the recast at first, so they have to give the viewers time to warm up to him. Chandler can’t have his cake & eat it to. I also find it hard to believe a working actor, quits a popular role to go to college. I think he was tired of plying a gay role & didn’t want to get type cast.
Katie I too think that is quite possible, and typecasting still does exist to some degree. I also find it hard to believe that an actor would leave a role like that unless his Reps are telling him to “move on” to be considered for other parts, and although I think it’s noble to continue with studies, I think that is just a statement issued by his peeps, even though it may very well be partially accurate.
Many companies, including Production Companies, feel that “if you want to leave you may as well leave now”.
They didn’t treat Chandler properly. No, he should not have said he was leaving in December before telling his employer, but that pales in comparison to how they treated him at the end. If Will is going to be in a triangle and Will is the one with two loves, then I can see the recasting now would be better. But if Sonny is the one with two loves, what’s the diff waiting until December. I really like Chandler and his Will and it will be hard to see him gone, no matter what. I just wish Days had treated him with more respect.
I think they realized with ED going they needed to move on this storyline. It seems like they were expecting her to carry the show, and now they need the next best thing.
There should always be respect on both sides.
With Days ratings going the other way again, they are probably in a panic.
Because of how Days just treated Massey, I have immediately stopped watching Days and will never watch it again!
I hope this move doesn’t back fire on them. Chandler is a good actor and has a pretty good following. It would have been good if they allowed him to finish his contract and slowly introduce the new actor.
While Mr, Massey did not exercise the best judgement announcing his plans publicly before discussing them with DAYS producers, DAYS powers-that-be should want to keep this golden boy — and I write that respectfully — as long as they could. This is a popular actor, a popular character, both of which have given DAYS the shot in the arm it needed to reboot. From what I read, returns of longtime favorites surely did not light fires. Will Horton is important. DAYS is new to me as a soap, a pickup in the wake of the cancellations of my favorites. I am engaged in the plots and enjoy most of what I see, To let Mr. Massey go ahead of schedule disappoints, and I would guess there must be some name actor producers are keen to introduce to us. Unfortunately, this is show BUSINESS and we sometimes put that in the back of our minds as we enjoy our entetainment. I know Mr. Massey will contiune to excel, and I wish the same for DAYS OF OUR LIVES and Will Horton, too.
The thing is if they hadn’t found the right replacement they would have been fondling all over him to stay until they did. George Clooney once said you are never as good as they say are, and you are never as bad as they say you are. I hope CM has learned that lesson and hopefully going to school being around some real people he will get grounded and not take being tossed to curb so personally, no matter what field we are in we all need to have thick skins sometimes and just shake it off and get our love from those who really love us.
Chandler Massey is a good actor (Freddie Smith too). I am happy Chandler received two Emmys for his work on Days.
However I am not now, nor have I ever been a fan of “Wilson”. I didn’t want gay characters/storyline on Days and still don’t. Unfortunately for me, NBC is pushing the gay thing hard. My guess is Chandler inadvertently put NBC in a bind by not letting them know first about his desire to go to school. Chalk it up to Chandler’s inexperience handling intense press attention. Poor Chandler is learning the hard way what not to do. I am sure in the future he will be more savy in that area.
However, Chandler’s press “booboo” probably threw NBC into a tailspin because of the popularity of “Wilson” AND, NBC’s dogged determination to cram homosexuality down views throats (the very reason why I no longer watch NBC Primetime).
NBC want to make sure their popular gay couple remained in place – even at the expense of Chandler who helped to make the couple so popular. NBC may have thought they owed Chandler nothing because he was the one that put them in that predicament. I do not all fault Corday Productions because they are bound by whatever conditions NBC may have put in their contract.
So…Chandler makes a booboo, NBC panics, Chandler pays for his booboo. The real person to feel sorry for is me. I am a Days fan, and inspite of Chandler’s exit, there will still be a gay couple on my favorite soap. YUK! I was hoping for a reprieve. Oh, well…keep on praying. God does answer prayer! “Please get that mess off my soap. Amen”
“… the popularity of “Wilson” AND, NBC’s dogged determination to cram homosexuality down views throats”
You are way off base… declarations such as yours… is mind boggling…. a story line is written… finds an audience… takes off… and has wings of its own…
and it’s? what? cramming an ideal, way of life… where?
I celebrate Will and Sonny. I stand w/Will and Sonny. I love their story… as it relates and is relevant to so many people who equally share, aspire, believe, they belong.
Thank you God for your patience… for helping me believe that my life is
Do others have the right to watch “your soap”? Maybe other fans enjoy the storyline of Wilson? Is that okay with you?
You state in your post that the real person to feel sorry for is you.
Trust me, I DO feel sorry for you – but then, I also feel sorry for other narrow-minded, bigoted, hatred filled numbskulls who walk this earth but oh well, guess
I will keep on praying and maybe my prayers will be answered as well.
Bravo, Johnny and Patrick! I’m always shocked (although I don’t know why) that people such as this sad poster still, in the year 2013, exist. And the way they delude themselves that God approves of their bigotry is truly incredible. To use gmbenet’s own word, YUCK to insecure, homophobic nitwits.
“cram homosexuality down viewers throats”?
So, how many characters are currently on Days? And how many of those characters are gay? And these particular gay boys are surrounded by quite a number of straight couples, straight couples that are never described as ‘cramming heterosexuality down viewers throats.” I’ve just never understood how someone can watch a straight couple hold hands and kiss and that’s fine – but the minute a gay couple does the EXACT same thing, they are CRAMMING it down someone throat or forcing it on people. Same action, assigned different motivations by people who are predisposed to judge and assign negativity to a group of people.
By the way GMBENET you’re an idiot.
GMBENET : What a load of crap. You sound like Archie Bunker reincarnated. How ignorant you are.
I am a straight man who loves Wilson! I have
loved DAYS for almost 30 years. The word “our”
in Days of our Lives represents the human race.
All walks of life should be included. I am very glad
DAYS opened my eyes and showed me a part of
life that should not disgust anybody, but should be
accepted by everybody. I’m proud to be a fan and I
hope DAYS strengthens the weaker areas of all walks
of life. These are the days of OUR lives!!!!!!!!
Thats too bad, he was one of the main reasons I watch Days but the show must go on. If this is true, he shouldnt have announced his departure at the awards show, that seems a little tacky. If I was him I would have stayed, these actors dont know how lucky they are to have these jobs, these great roles to play and lots of adoring fans. He is very talented but there are tons of talented actors who are…waiters, as they say.
TOTALLY AGREE!!! SO VERY VERY TRUE!! Especially about the many talents who are waiters etc. and simply not getting the chance to act in these roles.
It’s okay, Chandler will have success in prime time for sure! Days should’ve used one of their ONLY Emmy winners for the show until he was about to leave. I know it’s business but still that was wrong to do to him. They are already loosing Kristen, so she and Chandler will be gone around the same time. I sure hope Days is watchable in a few months.
“… and sources close to the young actor say he was devastated and in tears. ”
it’s beyond the realm of comprehension….
1. you realized a dream, that any other person, cannot fathom
“Hollywood” – accolades…
2. you’ve earned your keep…. you’re now off to secure all expenses paid college education.
is it a little disarming? leaving the secure knowledge of nesting.
I am torn.. about the story line… furthering without your portrayal.
it’s all an undertaking… and Chandler… Oh Geez! it’s all in your wake. your travails are in your steps.
I cherish the history that DAYS now holds…. sharing a gay story… that blew us out of the water, on the front line… and embers… forthwith.
I couldn’t be happier.
I’m emotional for you young man…. know you blazed trails… have a home away from home at DAYS… and are earmarked for so much more in you
Oh who cares? Why is there like 20 new Chandler Massey exit stories on here everyday? He wasn’t Marlon Brando … just “Days of Our Lives” only decent actor.
loved CM as Will, hate to see him leave … but IMO he got some new reps/new attitude after winning two emmys and pulled a power play on them. maybe I’m WAY off base but most recently he’d indicated SOMETHING(??) could be worked out, thinking he was seeking more money or other changes?? and TPTB have a show to get on the air.
AND I’d hate to see the character of Will (or Sonny) written off the show, hope they got Drew Garrett?? think I have the name right or Billy Magnusson (my fave)
This will make die-hard CM fans hate the new Will even more. I’ve already seen a lot of bitching and moaning on twitter today.
TV SOURCE Magazine voted Wilson and Sonny
Best Couple on a daytime Drama.
That must say something about the couple’s popularity with the fans,
and I guess I can understand the Show’s Producer’s desire to get more mileage out
of the Character currently played by Massey.
I think personally Greg Meng now needs to step up the show alott of Characters Will , Gabi ,Chad , Kristen , John ,Vargas left the show ,& Bo too what up stories are crap come on ” Days ” step it up immediately I’ve been a Loyal Fan along time ….. Wheres Hope story w/ Bo what missing in action sadddd Marlena w/ out John come on there s no Love Couples & The Daniel & Jennifer stories suck bad really bad not working w/ the Fans Brady needs a Major Love story Nicole story w/ Eric is Boring & the EJ Sami is worse yukkkke ….. I think Greg Meng needs to bring pass Characters Phillip , Mimi , Where Sean Douglas or Belle ? Bring them aboard Ken Korday has to look what the Viewers are here seeing its very boring & stories are taken forever to rap up Like the Sami jail story its really bad ……..
i agree with you totally
Lesson learned, let’s hope.
Good lesson learned for young actor Chandler Massey. You do NOT run your mouth to the media before telling your employer that you are quitting. It does not matter how many Emmys you have won or how vital your charactor is to the storyline. It all comes down to MONEY. Also, the old saying “the show must go on” is especially true in this genre. Soap history is FULL of character recast…many quite successful. Days will see many more “days” without Chandler Massey just as Massey will thrive in his future endeavors.
i think nbc screwed up , after all chandler was a 2 time emmy winner for them they should let him finish his contract
NO they should not. Unfortunately this actor was a victim of his E-G-O. Two Emmy wins does not a star make. You are not of the same caliber as Susan Rogers who just celebrated 40 count em 40 years on daytime tv. You are basically still green as an actor and thought that pronouncement of leaving after December would make TPTB scramble to keep you. In the world of soaps all characters are expendable and NO ONE is irreplaceable. He didn’t think his decision through, made the announcement for dramatic effect and GOT HIS FACE BROKE. Chandler you slapped them in the face and got punched in the gut in return. Lesson learned. Good safe acting jobs are hard to come by and your young butt is going to find that out the hard way.
days is starting to suck i watching y&r more how many times can you get dan and jen to break up. will and sonny were the best to watch and get rid of nick and gabi. please
Yes it is how showbusiness works but that shouldn’t make it acceptable. CM made a mistake by announcing he was going back to college but he didn’t say he was actually leaving. I think ppl interpreted as that. He probably realised his mistake afterwards hence his interview revealing that his comment was misinterpreted. But G. Meng and TPTB retalliation is unprofessional and unacceptable. I highly doubt that the recast will be accepted I think Dool has shot itself in the foot with this one.
they should had done it sooner to be honest i really like chandler massey on days he is the reason im watching days of our lives he is a great actor the recast verson of will hortin does not know a thing about being a gay chacater why no goodbyes thats very sad stay until decemeber i understand that he whats to do other things like acting my favorate couple is will and sonny crying right now in my head everytime i go to sleep at night
I was very sorry to hear that Chandler Massey was let go. He was a very good actor and did a great job over the last couple years portraying some very deep and challenging issues. The fact the writers are thinking of ending his contract in Dec. is a little sad-but let him go now, hire a replacement for just a few months-wow! I have been a loyal fan of Days for over thirty years and find some of there ideas lately are well much to be desired..
I’m a 58-year-old woman who had never watched a soap until I went online to research Brant Daugherty, who is now on Dancing With the Stars, and in only a week, I’m hooked on their story.
It brought me to the scene where Brian is kissing Sonny, and Will sees them through the door. I was curious to see where Brant’s character ended up and, in the process, fell in love with Will and Sonny and was happy that Brian and Sonny didn’t end up together. I wanted more of their story so I found clips from the beginning of them getting together and have spent hours watching and re-watching their scenes. One night, I didn’t go to bed until after 3:00 because I kept wanting to see more of their story. It is so well done. You could tell just by the way they looked at each other before they kissed the type of chemistry they had. .it gave me such a good feeling.
I feel bad for all those people who are turned off or disgusted by their story. I read elsewhere that people record it just so they can fast forward through their scenes and not have to watch two men kissing. How about watching and see for yourselves how great and touching their story is.
As for Chandler Massey no longer playing Will, I am very sad….I love his character and will really miss his smile! I’m sure spending so much time this past week watching all their scenes makes me feel more connected to him right now. I honestly can’t get enough.
I think the thing that bothers me the most of what I’ve read is hearing they are going to put Sonny and Will’s characters in a love triangle. PLEASE DON’T do that and ruin the connection you have given them. That is what makes me now want to watch the show. I’m not sure I would continue watching it if they did that because it’s their story that got me interested in watching the show.
Sorry to ramble on. I think I’ve watched so much of this show this week, I’m a little obsessed with it.
I watched will’s replacement today. Shouldn’t judge the first day, but the scene he was in was just drab and flat. The chemistry is not there yet, the triangle is flat. and where is Kristen? I loved her character, and the Kristen/Brady couple. Will Kristen come back?
Chandler was my favorite Will of all time. There’s no way this drab new Will is going to hold my attention. I’m finding myself hoping he’ll get into trouble cause I can’t stand him. Chandler was very talented, this new one is hard to watch.
I loved Chandler Massey as Will. The new Will is not a good replacement as far as I am concerned. I will miss Mr. Massey, as he was an amazing actor, and very cute.
was a big mistake. they should have held Chandler Massey. was the biggest lost of dool … shame
the new Will is not believable at all. They need to bring Chandler back. Can’t stand the scenes where the new Will is involved…..makes me want to change the channel!
Bring back the real Will Horton!
