Nancy Frangione Passes Away at 70
Nancy Frangione, best known for her role as Another World schemer Cecile DePoulignac, has died. She was 70-years-old. The cause of death has not been revealed, but an obit appeared detailing that she passed on August 18th.
Another World was not the only soap featuring Frangione. She started her soap career as Tara Martin on All My Children from 1977 to 1979. She then took on the role of Bay City’s Cecile in the summer of 1981, and stayed with the series for three-and-a-half years. She made a few returns later, including in 1986, 1989, 1993 and from 1995-1996.
One Life to Live fans recall that Nancy actually subbed for the late Andrea Evans in the role of Tina Lord Roberts back in 1985. Primetime TV fans may know that Nancy also appeared on The Nanny. Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century, Matlock and Highway to Heaven. She also teamed up with Eileen Davidson (Ashley, Y&R) and Hillary B. Smith (Nora, OLTL) in the 1988 TV comedy series Sharing Richard which also starred Ed Marinaro.

Sadly, Frangione is survived her daughter, Mariel whom she shares with Another World alum and her former leading man, ex-husband Christopher Rich (ex-Sandy). The two were married from 1982-1996.

Now below, share your condolences for her Nancy’s loved ones and remembrances of her television roles in soaps or otherwise via the comment section. But first, check out this clip of a catfight between Rachel (Victoria Wyndham) and Cecile (Frangione) from Another World below.
Wonderful actress
This one came as quite a shock, I have to say, just as Andrea Evans did. I’m getting used to the idea of losing vets like Kathryn Hays and Elizabeth Hubbard, but I’m just not ready for that “next generation” to be passing away.
Nancy was a rare talent, and I enjoyed her performances on AW immensely. She was even a reasonably interesting Tara on AMC–and Tara had to be one of the most boring soap characters in soap history. That’s talent! She’ll be missed.
What a clip of her and Miss Wyndham! Yes, indeed, boys and girls (listen to your Uncle Michael): once upon a time, soaps were all written like that, with compelling characters played by actual actors given material that was worthy of their talent. How I miss those days.
I agree completely
yes, completely agree. Her portrayal of Cecile kept the fans asking the Another World Executive Director to bring her back. And they did. Especially loved the scenes between Cecile and Cass Winthrop.
This year will be remembered as the year the soap opera star died. Too many great ones to name.
Watching her performances even the mundane conversations was a master acting class. Her slight movement of her eyes or mouth spoke volumes about the emotions her character was conveying. She left acting too soon, always hoped to see her in more adventures and now sadly too soon gone forever
I agree with Michael (not Fairman). I wasn’t ready for this one either! I remember her as Tara (replacing Karen Gorney, who originated the role, who replaced Stephanie Braxton). As Cecile, she was thoroughly entertaining and brought a fresh and comedic spin to the part. A great loss to the daytime community…
So pretty and talented I loved her on another world!
An outstanding actress who was amazing on another world Very very sad to hear of her passing The clip below with Vicky Wyndham is like watching a piece of theater Still love the soaps but those days of ny soaps are a wonderful thing of the past
Was a huge fan of AW, growing up and this actress was just awesome! I was just looking up her a few months ago. I was wondering what she was up to! She was the best of the best and her scenes with all including Anna Stuart were just awesome!
Sad news, when I saw she had passed I was shocked, way too young!
Michael and I was going to write you to see if you could got her & Anna Stuart together on your video platform, It would have been awesome to see these ladies together again!
If I may add one more thing, she was stunning and held her own with Rachel. I was never a fan of Rachel after Mac died and Iris left the show.
I’m going to miss this powerhouse actress Nancy Frangione was one of a kind she played the role of Cecile DePoulignac to the hilt and her chemistry with Stephen Schnetzer as Cass Winthrop flawless if a continuation series of AW ever returns for a streaming platform like Paramount plus ➕️ or Peacock it should be revealed that Cecile secretly gave birth to hers and Cass son and he should be played by Rob Adamson.
Just loved her as Cecile! I’m sorry to hear of her passing and send condolences to her family and friends.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Officially Confirms Ryan Quan Returning as Co-Head Writer Beginning in July

There is definitely a shake-up going down at the writing team at Peacock’s Days of Our Lives. Now, the long-running soap opera has confirmed, what has been previously reported, that current General Hospital breakdown writer, Ryan Quan is heading back to his old stomping grounds in Salem. This time as the series co-head writer.
The appointment of Quan comes with the official news that current co-head writer, Paula Cwikly, who was previously rumored to be departing the series, is not. She is staying with the soap opera and transitioning to a consultant role with the show. Now, Quan will join current co-head writer, Jeanne Marie Ford to steer the ship for the characters on the canvas.
On Wednesday, TV Insider, reported the official confirmation and that Quan will return to DAYS next month in July. THE FUTURE OF DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Since Days of our Lives unusual production schedule tapes ten-months ahead of air, the new creative team’s vision led by Quan and Jeanne Marie Ford are not expected to stream on Peacock until mid-2027.
Days of Our Lives is currently renewed through its 63rd season. The former NBC soap opera which transitioned to Peacock in September of 2022, celebrate its 60th anniversary in November of 2025.
The writing regime change comes after NBCUniversal Media Chairman Matt Strauss revealed that Peacock is expected to turn a profit for the first time in the current quarter, punctuating their investment with the enduring soap opera on its platform.
As for Quan, his knowledge of Salem is tremendous. Ryan joined Days of Our Lives as a writer’s assistant in 2007 after some time over at Passions. He then spent two decades and held every position on the writing team where he previously served as co-head writer from 2016-17 alongside Dena Higley.
Later, when Ron Carlivati took over as head writer for 7 years in 2017, Quan became his right-hand man and main story consultant for his deep knowledge of the history and the legacy of the show. After Carlivati exited the show in 2024, General Hospital hired Quan in 2025.
So, what do you think about DAYS making it official with Ryan Quan as the new co-head writer of the series alongside Jeanne Marie Ford. What do you think about the fact we won’t see the changes on-screen till 2027? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

ABC Announces ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Texas Spin-Off Gets Straight-to-Series Order

In a surprise move, coming a week after ABC unveiled its 2026-2027 fall television schedule, Grey’s Anatomy is getting a new spinoff co-created by the original series’ creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
The new untitled medical drama will be written and executive produced by Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner/executive producer Meg Marinis under the Shondaland and 20th Television umbrella. In addition, long-running ‘Grey’s’ star Ellen Pompeo will also serve as an EP of the spinoff.
The upcoming new series will debut midseason in 2027. This will be the first of Grey’s franchise not set in urban city or West Coast locale. According to Deadline, the new “edgy drama is about a team at a rural West Texas medical center — the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.”

Photo: ABC
In a statement, Marinis shared, “I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe. This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”
A NEW GROUP OF DOCTORS IN RURAL TEXAS
The Texas spinoff will feature a a new group of doctors, but there will be some connection to the OG Grey’s Anatomy and possibly to Debbie Allen’s character of Catherine Fox. The amount of episodes in the series order has not yet been determined. Previous Grey’s Anatomy spinoffs were the defunct Station 19 and Private Practice.
Previously, Grey’s Anatomy was renewed for its upcoming 23rd season while the amount of episodes is unclear. The last two seasons the series produced 18 episodes.
It should also be noted, Grey’s Anatomy and the Texas spinoff would likely share a time period, which requires limited-run orders for both with Grey’s premiering in the fall, followed by the spinoff on the midseason programming block.
So, what do you think about a Texas spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy coming in 2027? Who would you like to see from daytime or primetime as some of the featured roles as new doctors? Put on your casting directors hat and let us know via the comment section below.
