NASHVILLE Could Live To See Another Day On CMT: Formal Announcement Expected Wednesday!

It looks like the music city drama, Nashville, canned by ABC in May, is about to find a new home on the cable outlet CMT.

That outlet would be the perfect fit, because of its country music bent.  According to TV Line, Lionsgate is nearing a deal for Nashville’s fifth season to live on CMT, with an expected formal announcement on Wednesday Night’s CMT Awards. (8PMET/7PMCST)

According to Variety:  “CMT would be a seamless home for Nashville, which is surely seen as a ‘get’ for the Viacom-owned cable channel.  While the ratings (1.8 rating in adults 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall in Nielsen’s ‘live plus-7’ estimates) were not strong enough to warrant another season at ABC, those types of numbers are big for CMT.”

Nashville ended its fourth and final season on ABC with a cliffhanger that saw Avery Barclay (Jonathan Jackson) waiting for the love of his life Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) at the airport, only to learn that her plane has gone missing.

It will be interesting to see if the entire cast of Nashville will return in tact, if the series does receive a confirmation pick-up on a cable outlet.

So, are you excited to hear that Nashville could live to see another day on CMT? Share your thoughts in the comment secton below!

Thanks, su0000. I get irritated with people who call for a show’s cancellation or gloat if a show fails just because they didn’t like it — as if they are the only people whose opinions matter. What harm does it do them if a show stays on the air for other people to enjoy? Thanks for being classy enough to be happy for others, even if “Nashville” isn’t your cup of tea!

CMT just gained a whole new audience who watched Nashville on ABC but didn’t necessarily watch CMT programming before, because you don’t need to be a hard core country music fan to LOVE the show Nashville. Other regular viewers of CMT who might not have watched Nashville in the past may start tuning in as well…especially if CMT were able to re-air the first four seasons, while simultaneously debuting the new season elsewhere on the channel’s program schedule. I’d love to see it air in its same time and day that it aired on ABC and get better ratings than whatever junk ABC tries replacing it with!!! I’m thrilled – long live Nashville!!!!!

The actors, the storylines and the music all brought together a fantastic show. Here’s hoping for a return of Nashville.

General Hospital

WATCH: Jonathan Jackson + Enation’s New Music Video “The Days Are Evil”

Five-time Daytime Emmy winner from General Hospital, and former Nashville star, Jonathan Jackson (Ex-Lucky, Ex-Avery) has released a new music video for the new single “The Days Are Evil” along with his band Enation.

The music video features shots of Jackson in a very dark incarnation, and the track will also appear on Jackson + Enation’s upcoming album due out later this fall, Ultraviolet Empire.

Jonathan says of the new album: “Our new album, Ultraviolet Empire, is a throwback record. It’s a record we played together live in the studio. Most of the songs are one take -just letting the band play.  It was amazing playing with our co-producer Colin Linden and capturing something so raw and visceral.”

This will be the band’s follow-up to their 2017 album  Anthems for the Apocalypse and their successful 2018 tour in Europe opening for Echo & The Bunnymen,

Check out the music video featuring Jonathan released this week below.

Then, let us know, should Lucky return to Port Charles for the Nurses’ Ball with his band and play a tune off the new album next spring? Will Jonathan come home to GH for a guest appearance? Will you be checking out the new music from him in the coming months? Comment below.

How To Get Away With Murder

RENEWALS: How to Get Away with Murder, Grey’s Anatomy CANCELLATIONS: Life In Pieces, Star

The last 36 hours have seen some of your favorite primetime dramas renewed and others canceled; several of which feature former or current soap stars.  ABC has renewed for its upcoming sixth season How to Get Away with Murder.  During its fifth season, the series ranked as the No. 1 program in Thursday’s 10 PM slot in key demos: Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34.

How To Get Away With Murder stars Viola Davis as Annalise Keating, a law professor at a prestigious Philadelphia university who, with five of her students, becomes entwined in a murder plot.  The ensemble cast includes: Rome Flynn (Ex-Zende of The Bold and the Beautiful) who plays the key role of Gabriel Maddox.

Also on ABC, Grey’s Anatomy received a two-year renewal for seasons 16 and 17.  For season 16, former Nashville star Chris Carmack (Ex-Will) has been upped to series regular in his role of “Link”.

Upon learning of the cancellation, King took to her Instagram and shared: “Thank you for bringing me into the Life In Pieces family and for making it such a fun four years. I have so much love and respect for everyone who was involved in this show. Thank you to the amazing cast and crew, and thank you to our amazing leaders Justin Adler, @kaplanaaron , and Jeff Morton . I am forever grateful.”

Finally, Lee Daniels series on Fox, Star, which has been a companion to his hit sudsy Empire, was also canceled after its 3rd season.  Star followed three talented singers – running from their pasts and desperate for a new start – with ambitions of stardom, as they navigate the cutthroat music business.  It has been reported by various outlets that the showrunners will be looking for another home for the series to try to continue it on.

So, happy to learn about HWTGM and ‘Grey’s’ being renewed? What do you think of the cancellations of Life in Pieces and Star? Let us know via the comment section below.

NASHVILLE To Become Broadway Musical

Looks like the Music City drama, Nashville, originally on ABC and then on CMT, has more than nine lives! Now the popular soap is headed to the stage and Broadway after six seasons on the small screen.

The show is set to have a musical adaptation with 10-time Tony Award winner Scott Delman (American IdiotRagtimeBook of MormonHello, Dolly!Fun HomeMean Girls) in charge.  In addition, Delman will serve as lead producer of the show and he has acquired the live theatrical rights from Lionsgate and ABC Studios.

Nashville, with its complex, relatable characters and sweeping emotional gestures, has all of the narrative elements that I look for in great theatrical source material,” Delman said in a statement. “From that rich DNA, we will be building an original story with entirely original music, written by major Nashville and Broadway songwriters.  We are particularly excited to deliver Broadway’s first score of true contemporary country music — a genre that has exploded with mainstream audiences in recent years. Lionsgate has a treasure-trove of sterling IP, and I’m honored to be a part of this new phase of their live entertainment division.”

Additional information on the upcoming musical, including production dates and a creative team, is expected to be announced shortly.  Now the question becomes; will some of its beloved series stars be in the Broadway rendition of the series?
