It looks like Y&R has found their man with the announcement today that former Days of our Lives star, Nathan Owens, is set to join the top-rated CBS soap opera. Speculation is high that Owens will turn out to be Nate’s (Sean Dominic) half-brother and the son of Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford), the often-mentioned Damian.

According to Deadline, who broke the casting news, Owens will debut in a “Mysterious new role. Details on his character are being held under wraps but Y&R promises his arrival will create plenty of excitement and intrigue for the locals.” Look for Owens to first appear on Y&R on the January 8th episode.

DAYS fans will recall Nathan’s run as Dr. Cameron Davis, a part he played from 2012-2013. Cameron turned out to be the half-brother of the late Lexie Carver. In story, Cameron was involved with Abigail, and at one point worked a second job as stripper to pay off one of his mother’s debts. His mother was none other than mercurial Celeste.

Throughout his career, Owens has been a top fashion model.  He also starred in the OWN holiday movie A Season to Remember and just completed the lead in a feature film, A Mother’s Love. Past TV credits also include: Devious Maids, Batwoman 911: Lone Star, to name but a few.

Following the casting drop, Owens acknowledged he is coming to Y&R via his Instagram, expressing,  “Today’s news! Incredibly grateful to join the The Young and the Restless fam bam. Tune in if you’re up for the twist and turns 🎭”

While he was better than his predecessor, I was never sold on him at Days of Our Lives… but, we’ll see if he’s improved beginning January 8.

It’s seems he has a lot of other acting experiences since then so he probably has. I remember when Lamon Archey played Hillary Curtis’s partner in crime Mason on Y & R his acting skilled definitely had improved when I caught him years later on Days of Our Lives.

Nathan Owens is 40, Sean Dominic (Nate) is 46, not sure how Nathan will play Sean’s older brother on the show??
Perhaps he’ll be playing another character instead?

Real-life age is subjective. Age does not really exist in-universe.

I’m that 0211 girl

Rebecca Budig is playing Taylor the mother of Jackie McGuiness Wood’s, Steffy so it’s workable.
At least they actually look like they could be brothers, something rare on soaps. They are brothers, in real life some older siblings can look younger than their younger brother or sister. The industry makes movies all the time where the actors playing mother & child are only a few years apart. I don’t think it will be a problem.

Seriously, what’s the point of this show pretending to be invested in a black character? He’ll be backburnered or written out before you know it.

Why are they bringing more black people on YandR ? Isnt that what the new soap “Beyond the Gates” is for ???

Black people can be on more than one show like other people. I like when their characters have an entire family like other characters do. I would like to see Audra have some family also. They got rid of Rey & his family. We have many different kinds of people in US, the shows that want these audiences should reflex that with diversity in the characters.I don’t see having a representation of all people as a problem & apparently neither does the show. They should expand the minority families like they do the other families . If they did then people wouldn’t consider the Gates a black soap , it would just be a soap.
They just re-alived another Newman child. Y& R has a diverse audience. Now Nate gets a brother.
By they way the Gates has a large black cast but there are white actors on their also it for everyone who wants to watch.

Maybe, Maybe not, Kristoff, Shemar, Bryton & the actors before them spent many years on Y & R. So let’s see if this new character is popular.

Oh, oh, here comes Audra Charles next victom! Let’s see how fast she tosses Nate over for him. They have been suggesting that there maybe two half brothers to show up, what a delema, what’s a girl to do?

Regardless of age IRL he LOOKS too young to be Nate’s older half-brother, if indeed that is the role he will be playing.

Good someone for Lily.

It’s time ! What Y&R needs is to get with the times ! Developing a gay storyline around Damien.
It opens up a whole lot of writing ideas.

Maurice Benard Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’ Writers; Teases Upcoming Sonny Scenes with Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric

With the highly-anticipated returns of Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) on this week’s June 24 episode of General Hospital, Steve Burton’s (Jason Morgan) upcoming return on July 13, which also serves as the ABC daytime drama’s 16,000 episode, things are about to fire on all cylinders in the story, as noted today by series star, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos).

On Father’s Day, the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning actor and mental health activist took to his Instagram and expressed in a video that he has some unbelievable upcoming senes with the aforementioned Burton and Hughes. Add to that Nazneen Contractor (Justine Turner) and Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing), where Benard gave credit where credit is due to the GH writing team, which is led by co-head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten..

In this video, Benard said, “I just want to get on here and say that I did some work with Steve Burton, Finola Hughes, Rick Hearst, Nazneen Contractor, and they’re all just fantastic. Truly fantastic. But, I want to say the writing was just exceptional. It truly was. It was exceptional. So, thankful for that kind of writing. I know writers don’t get the credit a lot, but I just want to say to the General Hospital writing team, keep rolling!”

GENERAL HOSPITAL PREVIEW

So now the question becomes, with a major tease like that, what is about to go down between Sonny, Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric? Will we finally get to the end of the line for Sidwell (Carlo Rota), as previously teased by the GH co-head writers? Will we learn what happened to Jason and Anna, fully? Will Justine and Sonny becomes closer or stop their liaisons? And what of Ric? Will he be true blue to his brother or double-cross him? There is a lot at stake as we move further into the summer and one that looks like it could be one of the more exciting ones in years!

FINOLA HUGHES CONFIRMED AMAZING SCENES WITH MAURICE BENARD

As a punctuation point to his video, Benard also shared this written message in the post: “I just did some wonderful scenes with Steve Burton, Rick Hearst, Finola Hughes and Nazneen Contractor and  and unbelievable writing, freaking amazing scenes that you will see in the near future on General Hospital.” In fact, Finola Hughes jumped in the post comment thread and responded, “I loved our scenes so much xxx”

Fans will most likely see all the scenes Benard referred to later in July, since GH tapes approximately six weeks ahead of air.

So, are you excited to see what Maurice is talking about? Are you hyped for what’s to come on GH? Any clue on what you think will go down between the main characters on the soap with the returns of Anna Devane and Jason Morgan to the mix? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

It’s been a bittersweet time for Al Calderon. The talented actor/singer/songwriter has watched from his vantage point to roles he loved so much come to their conclusion for different reasons.

In a heartfelt message posted to his Instagram story on Saturday, Calderon took a moment to share how grateful he was for the opportunity to play Javi Hernandez on Days of Our Lives, and nurse Nico Silva this year on NBC’s second season of Brilliant Minds. Currently, Brilliant Minds has two more episodes that will air on June 24 and the series finale on July 1.

Calderon expressed, “As I sit here reflecting on this lovely Saturday afternoon over the last two years of my life, I have two major chapters closing that have been part of my life every day for the last two years. We have Brilliant Minds. Our last episodes are wrapping up, and then my last scenes aired yesterday as me as Javi on Days of Our Lives.

“I’m just unbelievably grateful for the chance and the opportunity to be a part of something so much larger than me,” continued Al. “I (will) love Days of Our Lives forever, my family. Thank you for supporting me and supporting my decision to take the leap of faith and believe in myself and, and tell other stories. You know, it’s never goodbye. It’s always ‘see you later’ to me and just leaving with love and leading with love.”

Al concluded with a special mention to some very important people, the fans: “Thank you to the fans and the support from everyone, the lovely messages. So this next chapter, hopefully it’s not a dragon, hopefully it’s a gold coin.”

Calderon’s journey on-screen on Days of Our Lives began in October of 2024 and concluded this month. In one of his last appearances Javi was asking a favor from Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) before bumping into his ex, Leo (Greg Rikaart). In story, Javi has a new romance with Gus (Michael Ocampo), while fighting his feelings for Leo. The role of Javi will be played starting on June 30 by Jacob Martinez who takes over the role.

NBC decided to cancel the Brilliant Minds, after it split up the airing of its second season which began in the fall of September of 2025 and the back-half started airing after a long break this past May. Calderon joined the medical drama staring Zachary Quinto for the new season, which sadly was its last.

In a surprise move, Daytime Emmy winner, Chad Duell (ex-Michael Corinthos, GH) is getting ready to unveil a new chapter of his career in music.

The former GH star, where he played the son of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) for 15 years, has announced his new single, “If You Need Me” will drop on Friday, June 26. The single is now available for pre-order on Spotify and major music streaming platforms and is distributed by DistroKid.

Taking to his Instagram story over the weekend, to announce the pre-save of his new single, Chad expressed, “I’ll make a full post about what I’ve been up to and my music once it goes live next week, but you can pre-save my first single so it goes straight to your Spotify once it drops next week.”

SINCE LEAVING GENERAL HOSPITAL

Previously, since his departure from the ABC soap opera. Chad starred alongside Zach Mendez in the world premiere of of Yum Yum at Annapolis, a new play written by Bruce Reisman. Duell last appeared on General Hospital on the January 21, 2025 episode.

The part was recast with Rory Gibson who debuted as the new Michael in May of 2025 during the Nurses’ Ball episodes and who has remained in the role since that time.

In an interview earlier this year on The Able Show, Duell said on his decision to exit the soap opera, “I was blessed to be part of that (show) for as long as I have, but what happens sometimes is if you’re doing the same thing, especially in a creative field for such a long time, you can get a little burnt out in a way. It can make you a little depressed, so that’s kind of what happened. On top of that, I had other things going on in my life at the time. My father passed away recently and I just needed a reset. So, I stepped away. A lot of times you have to go through some stuff to really step into that next level. I needed to kind of feel uncomfortable.”

So, what type of musical genre will Chad’s new song be? Country? Pop? Rock? Dance/Club? Something else? Let us know your thoughts via the comment section below, and if you are eager to hear the new single next week via the comment section below.
