It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2023 and ring in the new year and 2024. This week some of your favorite soaps began their New Year’s Eve drama with couples, friends, and their enemies looming about.

On The Young and the Restless, Michael and Lauren have dinner at the GCAC and decide the perfect way for them to spend New Year’s is to get married again. Next thing you know, Gloria, Kevin and Chloe as well as Phyllis show up and help ring in 2024 with Michael and Lauren.

Over at Days of our Lives, the Bistro is the place to be as much of Salem is counting down till 2024 and then there is Holly and her pills, which is all going to dovetail into Ava and the drug ring. Trouble is ahead for Holly.

As the guests shout, “Happy New Year!”  Stefan and Ava give each other a peck on the cheek, Alex and Theresa have a hot lip-lock while Brady says, “Happy New Year, to everybody else who’s alone tonight.” Behind The Bistro, Tate finds Holly lying on the ground anf foaming at the mouth. Uh-oh.

On General Hospital, Nina has figured out that Cyrus was in the confessional, not the priest, and has the ammo on her to blow her relationship with Sonny sky-high, unless she does something about it first.

Port Charles residents are gathering at the Savoy including Lois, Ned, Michael, Carly, Olivia, and as Michael and Ned go at it over ELQ and blackmail over Nina and the SEC, Lois figures out that Nina is the culprit and is about to tell Sonny.  Meanwhile, Carly goes home and Drew shows up and the two hit the sheets.

So, when will you see the pick-up of these stories?  New Year’s Day finds General Hospital pre-empted due to College Football’s Citrus Bowl.  However, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless will air encore episodes.

Sad that Y&R only trots out the Baldwin clan about 3 times a year. They seem to trot out Traci Abbott on festive occasions only as well, then there’s nothing for them to do. What a sad waste of talent.

While not always perfect, GH has legacy vets (recurring- non contract) such as Ned and Lucy playing integral roles in major storylines throughout the year.

Ain’t it the truth! I would take the Fisher/Baldwin clan over Audra, Tucker, new Summer, Kyle and Nate any day! And what happened to Elena? I haven’t seen her since Sally’s miscarriage.

I agree! I love The Baldwin s and especially love to see Gloria! Traci is wonderful. They were showing her quite a lot and then she went kind of scarce. I love seeing Danny and Christine, as well as Daniel, Heather and Lucy. However, it is weird that Heathers dad, Paul, is not on the show. I will never understand why they got rid of Paul, a legacy character.

Agree

Heather should stay out of Lily and Daniel life, get herself her own man. She is the one that kicked Daniel out, and now that Lily helped him get his life and business back on track, and they’re doing so great Heather want him back and using their daughter to help. Shame on you lady, get a life and a man of your own, also Phylis get a life and stay out of your sons lovelife.

Days was great can’t wait for Monday the kid playing tate is doing a great job Bandb needed a more classic episode and restless episode from 2003 was terrific seeing kristoff St. John Gregg rikaart Susan walters Joshua morrow who looks great today as well as 20 years ago the music the sets Heather Tom and melody looking her best ever just everyone that was a great episode to watch

Glad I stopped watching GH

Getting tired of the Adam bashing enough already

I agree with you, joe. Surely writers could craft a place for the Baldwins-Fenmores and Traci (and others!) into ongoing storylines, even in supporting ways. Seeing the retro episode airing Friday, December 29 only reminded me how all characters could be intergrated into major events.
