Nicolas Bechtel, Beloved as General Hospital’s Young Spencer Cassadine, Shares Latest Photo
Nicolas J, Bechtel won our hearts with his portrayal of the quick-witted and precocious Spencer Cassadine on General Hospital from 2013-2020. He was quite the scene stealer going toe-to-toe with some of GH’s biggest stars, but in particular with the late Tyler Christopher. As Nikolas and Spencer Cassadine they created one of the most beloved father/son duos in the history of the genre.
When GH decided to age-up the character, Bechtel was replaced by Nicholas Chavez, who himself put his own footprint on the young adult version of the role. Chavez is currently off the canvas and the series shooting his leading role in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
As for Bechtel, he has been growing up fast before our eyes, and on March 11th he posted a new profile pic on X that delighted many and surprised them, because they remember Nicolas as a young boy, not a young adult at now 19-years-old. One look at his new pic and he definitely is ready to take on young adult roles, if he chooses to do so.

Meanwhile on March 10th, Nicolas reflected on how great the GH writers (then Ron Carlivati while at GH, along with Chris Van Etten) treated him and his character when he commented on a cut-out of “Flat Stanley'” from an old tweet from Ron Carlivati .
Bechtel said, “Back when I was in 2nd grade. I’ll never forget these guys and how good the people at GH were to me.” He added, “For clarity, the show sent my Flat Stanley school project to NY to ‘write’ an episode of GH and then he was sent back to CA.”

Throughout his acting career, Bechtel has appeared not only on GH, but in roles on Stuck in the Middle, Grey’s Anatomy, Red Band Society and The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

If Nicholas Chavez decides not to return to GH, perhaps the original Spence can reclaim the role
As good as an adolescent actor Bechtel was, that doesn’t always carry over into adulthood. Robyn Richards grew up as Maxie, but couldn’t make the transition. A better example is David Tom, fine as a younger Billy on Y&R, but no longer fit the role when he returned Y&R after his stint on OLTL.
I can see and understand your point. He would need a “Spencer” looking hair style.
That would be awesome!
David Tom had major issues and once Billy Miller came on no one could replace him and yes I like JT but he just has never fit the character of Billy sometimes it’s just best to let it go some actors have a claim on a character and it’s best to just write them out once that actor leaves . JT would have never left GH but fans would not let him move on from Robin it was awful
When Chavez leaves-only matter of time-they should give Bechtel a chance.
I don’t see it; he looks way younger than Chavez (who just turned 25). Bechtel still looks like a kid; he doesn’t convey the same vibe that “Spencer” emits as an older character. I could see him with Emma if she came back and he played another character.
Pink lipstick god help us all
I always enjoyed his portrayal of Spencer cassadine. If he continues in acting I hope you get some really great parts but may he put God first in his life.
I am very curious. What is it about this article that make you state he needs God in his life first?
Evangelicals have no clue what to talk about other than God.
In my opinion he will always be the one and only Spencer Cassadine
.
I loved Nicolas and his portrayal of Spencer as a youngster, especially when his dad was Tyler Christopher. They made a wonderful father and son. I remember the horrific burn scenes that Nicolas played so well and convincingly. Brett played a big part in their lives then also.
I could never see or watch Nicolas play a grown up Spencer opposite Tabbyana/Trina, he is only 19, how could anyone suggest something so ludicrous?
You were such a great actor on GH!

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Cullum Kidnaps Obrecht as Britt’s Replacement to Finish Faison’s Final Project
WSB director Ross Cullum is truly as despicable villain as they come, and played with steely intensity by Andrew Hawkes. For the double agents latest crime, you need to look no further than the Friday, June 5 cliffhanger of General Hospital, where in the episode’s final moments he sneaks up on an unassuming Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) after hiding in the back seat of her car.
Next, he chloroforms her with his intent clear. He plans on forcing her to finish the last leg of Faison’s final project at Wyndemere, since her daughter Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) left town with Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) in tow to get away from Cullum!
In what led to the kidnapping, Cullum had a terse conversation with his business associate and co-conspirator on the project, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). It is Sidwell who is preoccupied with wanting to bring Marco’s killer to justice (not knowing it’s the man right in front of him!). Sidwell told Cullum if bringing Marco’s killer to justice wasn’t a priority for the WSB director, then why should protecting Cullum be a priority for him?
SIDWELL VS. CULLUM
The two finally put aside their differences as they have to complete Faison’s final project for it will be highly lucrative for them, useful for their mutual gains, and groundbreaking. In order to do that they need a great mind with a scientific background to finish it up and get them to the finish line since Britt as disappeared.
Later, outside of “General Hospital,” Obrecht is headed back to her car after searching Britt’s office for any clues as to the whereabouts of her daughter. But when she got in the car to drive away, that’s when the aforementioned Cullum strikes!

BROOK LYNN GETS ADVICE FROM A FORMER ADULTERESS
In other key developments, after Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) keeps inserting herself into Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) life, all with the seeming pretense to pay back Chase for helping her clear her name at the trial, and standing by her, she brings good news in person about baby Phoebe’s adoption to Alexis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) law office to Chase. Once Brook Lynn heard Chase was on her away over with paperwork, she decided to hightail it out of there for an “emergency” appointment for Deception.
As we come to find out, Brook Lynn meets up with Lucy (Lynn Herring) at the Metro Court pool, She then proceeds to inform Lucy about Willow sniffing around he husband. Lucy says she knows a thing or two about being an adulteress. Brook Lynn wants Lucy to help her send a clear message to Willow to stay away from her husband, or else!
Now below, check out the scenes before Obrecht was kidnapped where she visited Willow, Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) and suspects Willow is up to no good.
Then let us know, with Lucy taking Brook Lynn under her wing, what plot do you think the two will come up with against Willow? What do you think will happen to Obrecht? With Lucas also at Wyndemere trying to bait Sidwell into an attempted murder charge, will he winds up thrown in the secret room with Josslyn?
