GH Nurses’ Ball 2019 Part Four: Joss Sings For Oscar, Valentin Takes The Stage, Kevin In Dire ‘Straits’, Ava Waits For Ryan

The conclusion of the GH Nurses’ Ball 2019 episodes brought with it emotional moments and performances from the stage, and major drama with yet to come ramifications for several people of Port Charles.

After Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) knocked out Kevin and switched places with him, yet again, the serial killer is on the loose at the ball. Later, when Scott (Kin Shriner) is backstage and is upset about Ava’s (Maura West) relationship with Kevin, Scott comes face-to-face with “Kevin” and having enough, tries to grab Scott’s hand to stop him from leaving. But, lo and behold, off comes his prosthetic hand.  Next, Ryan clubs Scott over the head, who now is the only person that saw Ryan at the ball.

Elsewhere, Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) confronts Willow (Katelyn MacMullan), after overhearing her conversation with Diane that she has a child, and he asks here if she was pregnant when she left “Dawn of Day”.  She claims she miscarried their child, but he refuses to believe a word out of her mouth and becomes irate.

Michael (Chad Duell) saves Willow and warns Shiloh to stay away from her and his family. An out-of-sorts Shiloh heads back to his table where Sam (Kelly Monaco), Lucas (Ryan Carnes) and Brad (Parry Shen) are.  Shiloh informs Sam that he just found out someone had his baby and deceived him.  Lucas and Brad are both alarmed.

The first musical performance of the episode was Ned (Wally Kurth) and Olivia’s (Lisa LoCicero) rendition of Seals & Crofts classic, “Get Closer”.  Wally Kurth and Lisa LoCicero remain one of the endearing duos on the show.

Meanwhile, the question. and of course. the big musical finale hinged on Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), and if she would perform the song she wrote with Oscar (Garren Stitt) at his request and in his honor.  In the best scene of all the ball episodes this year, Sonny (Maurice Benard) finds a conflicted Joss outside the ballroom.  She says she thought she was stronger and could do this, but she isn’t.  An emotional Sonny shares with her how Oscar will always be with her, and be OK with whatever choice she makes. Sonny relates it back to Stone and his relationship with him while the young man was living and while he has been deceased.  Maurice Benard and Eden McCoy delivered in this tender scene.

In the next musical number, Valentin Cassasdine (James Patrick Stuart) attempts to calm down a drunken Nina (Michelle Stafford), who is all out of sorts due to her hatred of Willow.(and perhaps her lust for Jax?), by taking to the stage to perform his number.  This time, Stuart plays the piano and sings “Nothing without You” by Vienna Tang.  And once again, Valentin wowed the audience, and James sang beautifully, as he has each year at the ball.

Still undecided if she can perform, Josslyn worries she’s letting everyone down. Jax (Ingo Rademacher) comes to see her and reassures her, saying she doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone, she just needs to follow her heart.

Finally, Josslyn makes the decision to perform, and that she does in the emotional high point of the episode.  As she performs this song about the list of things she and Oscar were planning to do together before the young man died, and how she will carry it with her, she sees Oscar in the back of the ballroom in his tux singing with her and rooting her on.  Kudos to Eden McCoy for being the heartbeat of this year’s ball, along with Lynn Herring, who the ‘ball’ would not be the ball without Lucy Coe,

As the Nurses’ Ball winds down, Shiloh is becoming unglued, and as Sam tries to calm him down, he tells her she needs to finish her initiation tonight.  He says he needs her to be in the ‘trust’ and he needs her strength.  Oh-oh!  Will Sam go through with this to trap the guy, or are we going to witness a major backfire?

A massive light bulb has gone off in Lucas’ head and he tells Brad he believes Willow and Shiloh are Wylie’s birth parents. Brad doesn’t know what to say, and we all know why!

As Lucy is instructing the clean up crew to take everything down on the stage, the curtains open and Kevin is suspended in midair hoisted up, knocked out, and trapped in a straight-jacket!  Everyone is horrified.  Cut to Ava who is at her safe house preparing to kill Ryan all by herself.  She gets everything in place, while she sips on some booze and waits for Ryan to arrive, and sure enough, we come to the cliffhanger.   Ryan sees Ava from outside the widow.  What will happen next?

So, what did you think of the final installment of this year’s Nurses Ball? What did you think of the performances from Joss, Valentin, and Ned and Olivia? Will Ava kill Ryan, or will someone else do it? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

GH Nurses’ Ball 2019 Part Three: Trouble Looms For Ava, Cameron’s Heartfelt Song, A Liesl & Franco Duet

Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital brought with it the third installment of the Nurses’ Ball 2019 and this time there were several musical numbers to discuss, as well as story points moving forward.

Obrecht was back and in her full glory and that meant great news to GH fans to see Kathleen Gati appear on the Nurses’ Ball stage again.  However, Dr. O brought with her a friend, none other than Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) who joined Frau Liesl in a rendition of the Barbra Streisand/Barry Gibb duet “Guilty”.   The combo, obviously a play on how they do bad things to others (or have), and they have nothing to feel guilty about!  Then, there was that drop the mic moment, literally!

Cameron (William Lipton) has shown up at the Corinthos’ home to give Josslyn (Eden McCoy) a video message from Oscar (Garren Stitt) that he was holding on to per Oscar’s dying request to give to Joss.  Before he leaves, she asks Cameron to stay and watch it with her, but he tells her she should do this alone.  Later, Josslyn watches the video on her laptop.  Contained in the video is Oscar saying how grateful he was for their time together and that he hopes she will lives life to the fullest, starting with singing their song at the Nurses’ Ball.   Next, Josslyn comes down the stairs of the house in her gown ready to honor Oscar and she heads out to the ball.

When Joss arrives, Cameron is now taking the stage.  William Lipton performs a song he wrote called “North Star” against the backdrop of emotional images of the friendship between Cameron, Josslyn, and the late Oscar.  (You can watch it below.  It was one of the highlights of the ball thus far)

Lipton took to his Twitter account after the outpouring of kudos and support after his performance aired expressing: “Thank you so much for all your kind words for the song Cam was singing at The spotlight should be at the GH writers who inspired me to write this song. Their words in the script were so beautiful.”

Ava Jerome also took to the stage as the marvelous Maura West performed “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” as only Ava J. would do! A sultry chanteuse is this Port Charles bad girl, whose night may go from a cool performance to a nightmare now that a gloved figure has knocked out Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom), which only leads to one conclusion .. serial killer Ryan is back.  Will Ava get her vengeance and kill the guy, or will someone else?

Elsewhere in story, Finn (Michael Easton) proposed to Anna (Finola Hughes) on-stage at the ball, and though it was a typical bumbling clumsy moment from Finn, it was all the same endearing, especially when Anna says “yes” to his proposal.  Later, the two spend some alone time where Finn explains why he chose the ring he did; harkening back to when she was blackmailing him in Europe (It was a Monaco blue sapphire he chose, and Monaco was the place where they started their unlikely pairing).

Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) tries to warn Sam (Kelly Monaco) about Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin), but her parents Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) come to her aid, and then Sonny once again threatens Shiloh.  Later, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) gets a call from Diane Miller that Nina (Michelle Stafford) overhears.  On the call, Willow mentions her baby’s father is in Port Charles.  Nina learns Willow had a baby, and Shiloh looks at Willow.

Laura (Genie Francis) and Curtis (Donnell Turner) are rescued in Canada, and Laura calls Kevin’s cellphone but it goes to voice message to warn him about Ryan heading to Port Charles.   Meanwhile, Curtis calls Chase (Josh Swickard) and tells him that Ryan Chamberlain is alive. and on his way to most probably the Nurses’ Ball.

So, what musical number did you enjoy the most on Tuesday’s Nurses’ Ball?  What did you think of Anna and Finn getting engaged?  Shiloh overhearing the news about Willow?  Josslyn receiving the video message from Oscar to perform at the ball? Comment below.

THE BACHELORETTE: Is ‘Mr. Right’ Really Mr. Wrong?

On Monday’s installment of the ABC reality-competition, Hannah Brown is one lusty ‘Bachelorette’!  Seems Hannah B cannot resist the maneuvers, of Luke P.

For this season’s first group date, Hannah chose Grant, Luke S., Mike, Jed, Jonathan, John Paul Jones, Dylan and Luke P. for an inside look at her pageant days having them participate in the “Mr Right” contest.  The competition has two parts: being in speedos on a runway and talent.

Who else but to help Hannah judge the men but three drag queens!  Enter at the judges table: Alyssa Edwards and Alaska, of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”  and Miss J of “America’s Next Top Model.”

After the men disrobe especially Luke P, who flexes his muscles on stage, putting the other men on notice, and after his talent portion (where he has no talent) but relays on professing his “falling for” love for Hannah, things look too good to be true.  But then, he gets validated for his efforts by Hannah.  She crowns him “Mr Right”.

Photo: ABC

Even though Jed came out and sang a song to her about being “Mr Right” (He is after all a Nashville-based singer/songwriter) that did not get him the top spot with the Alabama beauty queen.

Later at the cocktail party, Cam (the true villain of this season) continues to annoy everyone, especially with his Chicken Nugget ceremony in front of another of Hannah’s suitors.

When Luke P. gets alone time with Hannah he starts to massage her.  Then, Hannah tells Luke to take off his shirt so she can massage him, and then the two are in a steamy kiss.  Who should witness this all … but Jed!  Next, Jed and Hannah seem to laugh-off this embarrassing display … by her!

After the rose ceremony, three dudes go home:  Connor J., Daron and Matthew.  Of course, the last one chosen to continue on was … yup, you guessed it .. Cam!

When taping her confessional after that ceremony, Hannah is interrupted by Luke P.   She then sits in his lap and says she wants to make sure he really is falling for her, because it is so soon, to which he replied “I don’t want you to have any fear in this with me. You can trust me.”   They kiss.

Really? Can Hannah trust Luke P.?  What are your thoughts? Will Luke make it all the way to the end of Hannah’s journey, or will his luck ran out and he will be eventually kicked to the curb? And remember, Hannah has stated she likes men who make “bold” choices and moves.  Comment below.
