One Life to Live's Victor Jr. And Todd Showdown: "Hope You Burn In Hell Brother!"

In a scene that fans of One Life to Live have been waiting for since January 2012, (when Todd was arrested for the murder of his brother Victor Jr.,  only for viewers to find out that Victor Jr. was alive and being held hostage by Alison Perkins) on today’s episode the two had a very intense and contentious moment!

On the heels of Victor Jr. (Trevor St. John) exiting the canvas, Todd (Roger Howarth) baits Victor into a fight, after Victor apparently came to see Todd to call a truce for the good of the Manning children.   However, was Victor still poisoning Todd?  Whatever the case, the scene ended with Victor trying to choke Todd to death, and Todd lying on the floor.  Victor then uttered the words, “Hope you burn in hell brother.”

So, the question is:  Did you enjoy the scenes between two titans of soapdom, Trevor St. John and Roger Howarth?  If not, what would you have liked to have seem happen? Let us know your thoughts after watching today’s episode from Hulu,  after the jump!

Their scenes were the best thing on the show! I could have watched a few hours of them and skipped the nightclub…. and all the drinking at Dani’s.

so glad that Jack arrived when he did… but what will happen next?

and it’s soooo great to watch Roger on two shows a day! what fun!!

Agree completely! Their scenes were the show! In almost every other scene on OLTL… drinking is involved… or coffee at the coffee shop! The scenes with Dani, Matthew, and Jeffery were unwatchable and again because they can. Shelter is turning out to be a character like the Horton Town Square. Would rather see the diner (Buena Vista) back as the character. I realize they are appealing first and foremost to the younger crowd… but let’s give them great mysteries or drama and minimize the drinking… please!

I wish people would just grow up already. College-age kids drink, it’s no big deal

I would have liked them to figure out a way to get along (and share information) for the good of their family and perhaps for Victor to ask for Todd’s help, since “todd” is exiting soon as well, it would have made sense. I do not understand why Trevor is leaving and very upset. How will that be for the family to be abandoned by both. I enjoyed the beginning of their interaction, but not the animosity. And I have to admit, while I’m so happy the show is back, I did not enjoy the shelter scenes (not my thing) and not the young people’s strip scene either. They are too much sexualizing young people. I also hated the music at Shelter. But.. I will still watch and am glad my show is back. But we need more things to appeal to people over 22.

Trevor is leaving because he doesn’t want to be tied up on a soap because he has a ton of other things he is busy with. His life doesn’t revolve around you. You should be grateful he came back at all out of the goodness of his heart to provide a small bit of resolution to the story instead of whining selfishly about your own needs.

Wow Jessica, is the nastiness really needed? Lin is entitled to her opinion, just as you are….

Exactly! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

First of all unless you work for him or are married to him DON’T SPEAK FOR TREVOR!!! TREVOR is NOT leaving the character of Victor is going to “Finish Business, Tie up loose ends”
OH FYI There has been NO RESOLUTION not even a little bit to this story line

WOW, WHAT ARE YOU, 12?

you need help.

I, for one, am glad Trevor St. John will not be on “One Life to Live” permanently. He has been phonining in his performances for years now. He’s a snoozer!

Trevor is not leaving compleatly just for a short time. I have a friend who Talked to Flo/Tea and she told her Trevor has taped some new shows in the last 5wks so hang on everyone Victor will be back like he promised.

@ Joshua What the heck are you saying ? !!! Trevor is terrific. If he is acting different now it is because his character Victor has suffered a lot what with being held captive for a yr . He will get back to normal soon just hang in there.

@ Linn, i agree, i think with both Trevor and Roger leaving, the twin brother’s truce should’ve been real. I never cared for Trevor as Todd because Roger owned that role in every way. I did however respect Trevor as Victor . Trevor was a dark Todd and it was hard for me to like the character when he played it. I hated the way he treated Star and Cole during that whole pregnancy story. And whatever happened to the diner! The club and the drugs and drinking is supposed to appeal to who exactly? I hope there’s a story behind it that will play out as a drama with some type of resolution.

Yes, the plot line with Trevor/Victor is a little too dark for my taste. that’s not his fault though as some have implied. I don’t like what they’re doing to the character. About the only storyline’s I’m really enjoying are Vicki/Clint, Nora/Bo, I like that Jeffrey and Destiny, and happy to see Sean back- hope we will see him more. When Todd leaves, I hope he’ll work for Vicki in some way or even Bo. Back to Trevor- I liked Trevor as Todd a lot of the time, but not all. If Roger was not coming back- we needed a Todd and they did change Todd somewhat. I don’t think Roger would have come back if OLTL was not being canceled. I was shocked when he came back for the reboot. This story does need a resolution. I agree that I want them to get along-. someone says Trevor is so busy. I’ve seen him play bit parts like a police officer on Castle. While I respect his work everything I’ve seen has been small parts compared with Victor. Of course it’s his life and if he enjoys that more- fine.

I loved it and want more! And also Florenzia Lozano was magnificent!

Loved the scenes this is wat was missing when the finale ended so permature. I really hoped they would get along. I really hope Jack can now see he’s father Todd and not Victor. Victor I hope u can get help. <3 seeing Roger on my screens twice.

TSJ and RH both are the best actors that the soaps have..
Those two when doing their brother thing can bring it in any direction..
always a pleasure to watch the Manning brothers go at it..
They were awesome last show!!
Powerful acting!!!!
both have the talent to be creepy and loving ..

LOVED IT!!! i know they are exiting; but i want more!!! what actually happened? and where is allison perkins? how did she come back from the dead, in soap opera style? who was holding victor and what is their relation ship to todd??(remember, todd had the same tatoo) sooo many unanswered questions….i am sitting on the edge of my seat!!!

I would like to watch a soap story with just the Manning brothers lol ..
They are overwhelming when they play off each other..

I love watching them! Either one of them alone is fun to watch, but when they share scenes…WOW! They’re both awesome.

oh, yea, and did victor impregnate tea??? again

THAT WOULD BE GOOD.TODD HAD THAT COMING ,HES LUCKY VIC TOLD JACK TO GIVE HIM A CHANCE.I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING WHAT HAPPENED TO VIC AFTER TODD SHOT HIM,AND WHO HE WAS BEFORE THIER MOTHER BRAINWASHED HIM TO BE THAT NARSSISST.

I hope so! lol I’ve been saying that after he leaves town, she’ll probably find out she’s pregnant again!

Now that would be interesting!!!

Those scenes were the best and TSJ and Roger Howarth were fantastic together!

Victors exit has left more questions than answers, they have made him so dark I almost don’t like him anymore LOL The scene was the best thing on the show, the rest of it could was really not even interesting. For some reason kids getting drunk and removing their clothes seems to appeal to these writers. They need to concentrate on a good s/l

On another note…in this episode, did Blair finally mention Starr? I think I heard her tell Natalie that she speaks to Starr every day. With the club music in the background, it was a little tough to hear all of the dialogue. Did anyone else catch that?

Yes, Blair said Starr is doing well with her music career and they talk daily.

With both Manning brothers leaving…there is nothing left on OLTL to interest me…wished TSJ stayed a little longer to fully resolved his kidnapping plot…there shouldve been an investigation ect. The rest of the show has nothing going for it…but ill tune in occasionally. Instead of the teen strip scene, id rather had Bo involved in the Victor story … he’d be a P.I. now investigating Victors kidnapping and looking for a missing Allison Perkins! As for Dani, Matt, and Jeffry id have them in a dangerous situation where, after Dani o.d. Jeffry does an online news story on the local drug scene with Dani and Mathew working together undercover to expose the local drug dealers which puts all three lives in danger! That would be more interesting and suspensefull than a pointless strip scene…im not being prudish…PP has already proven these shows will be more adult oriented..i just want more drama!

How do we know they are leaving? Perhaps TSJ leaving town is so we can delve into what happened to him? Roger Howarth isn’t leaving the show.. he’s doing GH and OLTL. Until they are gone or there’s a report stating so.. I don’t think anyone can say either actor/character is leaving.

I meant leaving for now…if and when they come back ill watch more but not much else is keeping me watching everyday like when they are on…i need more drama!

Thank you! The beauty of their 5 weeks on/5 weeks off schedule is it allows the actors to do other things. Everything I’ve read says that RH will be doing both OLTL & GH. TSJ has been busy working on other projects–one “Finding Normal” is premiering this weekend on GMC–but I suspect he’ll probably be back when his schedule permits.
I absolutely LOVE both actors on screen together (and with anyone else for that matter) and there is so much Todd/Victor story left to tell…I can’t wait!

Loved TSJ and RH’s scenes… along with FL’s… that’s the show… the rest was fill because they can… no real story… or anything to care about.

By the way… since we had to endure their drinking scenes… it would have been nice to see a truth or dare question rather than just remove shirt… etc. That would have taken some writing and some story though…

All I will say is that One Life To Live V2 is finally getting it right !

After the first two weeks I was ready to give up, but week 3 is everything I hoped it would be.

Great scene. Hate to see TSJ leave – but I’m sure he’ll be back. He really is an excellent actor. I enjoy the tense interaction of the characters, but I imagine it will be some time before anything is resolved with the brothers. Let’s hope TSJ and RH can come back to continue the saga.

I enjoyed the scenes. I hope he makes a return back to the show. I don’t think they would have him come back for a few scenes. I hope it’s temporary because I do enjoy the scenes between Victor and Todd. Very entertaining. Haven’t seen today’s episode, but do hope that they don’t kill him off. I am enjoying the reboot and hope they continue to deliver great storylines. It will be interesting if Tea does get pregnant again, which would fix the loss from last year.

I thought it was so stupid and forced. Todd being THAT upset at Victor for leaving? Why would he be? If he did he’d be the kids’ only father figure in town and have no one to compete with for their affection! Then Victor getting THAT violent with Todd in response to Todd’s already OOC reaction? Todd not accepting his brother and berating him for leaving the kids is hardly a reason for Victor to go psycho and murderous on his brother (if indeed his visit was really to make amends with his brother, which by the way it played out, it was)? It just doesn’t make sense to me, and seemed like real plot points to bait and switch the audience into believing there was a truce between the contentious brothers. After all these episodes of “is Todd really dead?” to have yet ANOTHER one is really overkill and dumb to me. How many episodes are going to end with that cliffhanger?

And also, it’s only been 10 episodes, but I already need a break from Dani and Matthew. There’s been waaaay too much of them. I’d much rather more Bo and Nora.

I so agree with you. Need more Bo and Nora. Wish they had turned Bo into a P.I. and had him investigate Victors kidnapping and try to locate Allison. and after Dani O.D. Jeffry, Mathew and Dani shouldve went undercover to investigate Llanviews drug ring which places all three lives in danger!

so they brought victor back for? since your article says he is exiting… we really learned nothing… it makes no sense.. they way you bridge the story is horrible… no allison no mitch the story dropped and you added a tattoo to change a story…. not impressed so far.. especially since you brought Victor back to leave… guess the writers should have left Todd dead two weeks ago with the poison… instead of wasting our time

Loved the scenes. I don’t claim to know anything about the actors personal lives, but maybe it’s possible that TSJ was only available for a short time and agreed to come back to help the relaunch? I think Victors psycho reaction goes along with the way he’s been written-darker, unpredictable-possibly as a result of whatever happened to him in the past year? Tea finding the decapitated giraffe was a clue to her about his mental problems. Todd’s reaction was understandable-he hates Victor but knows the animosity isn’t good for his kids and Victor disappearing again will just make it worse for them. Yes I would like Victor back, but it’s the actor’s choice, not mine. I also want Todd around more, but I’ll take whatever I can get, I’m just happy to have OLTL to look forward to everyday when I get home from work.

Speaking as someone who has pretty much only followed this show in its new incarnation, I personally didn’t care much for TSJ. I found him to be extremely dull and one-note. I’ve been enjoying RH on GH, so I enjoyed him here as well. I know that actors like TSJ and Michael Easton have a WOW factor, but as I just watch them mumble their way sullenly through scenes, I’m thinking “what’s the big deal?” I too hope that Shelter fades into the background, or at LEAST turn the music DOWN so that we can hear what the characters are saying!

OK That tattoo on Victor’s arm…… didn’t Todd have one also or was that just Irene’s henchmen that had them? Anyway… Could Irene still be alive and be behind Victors abduction and the tattoo gang?

I thought I remember Todd holding a box with that same insignia that’s tattooed on Victor’s arm, making it seem like he knows something about it or is apart of it.

JWow is delicious. She would have been a great Brook Lynn on GH.

I immensely enjoyed the scene. My TSJ as badazz Victor is totally swoon worthy. Him being this bad is just SEXAY!!!! Loved him choking that rat basted Todd out & letting him know about the poison…Karma is a B & Todd deserve that & much much more:)

Todd and Victor were really intense. I was gasping a little for breath myself, it turned so violent so fast. Powerful stuff between two superb actors, and two deadly delicious characters.

I like the reboot but wish there is more air time for the older actors. The young actors look they were cast out of the Abercrombie and Fitch catalogue and not for their acting skills. Having them shirtless doesn’t compensate for their lack of acting experience. It is even more evident when they are in a scene with Todd, David, Vicky or almost any adult. We missed the older characters not these vapid tiny boppers.

Monday and Tuesday’s shows with Todd and Victor blew me away! Almost glad the drama calmed down a little for Wednesday and Thursday! Monday’s episode totally affected me for the whole day! And then Tuesday, I said NO WAY is Todd going to be killed off! WOW is all I can say! Awesome writing and BRAVO TO PP!! Now on the other hand, the thought of never having Todd or Victor back on OLTL is devastating to me. It is my hopes that that they will continue on and that all the rumors I see are true that TSJ will have a reoccurring role as well as RH! I just love them! The drama was AMAZING on OLTL and I applaud them with putting this altogether in such a short period of time! I look forward to OLTL each day and just know, it will get better and better as time goes by! Thank you so much! UNBELIEVALBE! AWESOME! AMAZING WEEK ! #OLTL IS ON FIRE!! No complaints from this happy fan ever! So very thankful and appreciative to have my all time favorite Soap back you just don’t know!!

Barb, how do you feel about the show being reduced to only two times a week?

I SO AGREED WITH YOU. TSJ AND RH ARE GREAT TOGETHER! ALSO I JUST LOVE VICTOR AND TEA TOGETHER!!!!!!! I HOPE THE RUMORS ARE TRUE AND THAT TSJ WILL BE BACK TO OLTL VERY SOON. HE HAS A VERY HUGE AND HOT STORY GOING ON REGARDING THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM. WE NEED TSJ, TEA AND RH AS WELL AS BLAIR AND THE KIDS IN THIS BIG STORY! PLEASE OLTL BRING BACK TREVOR ST. JOHN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. MISS HIM.

The show is sooooo good. It really is!! If I could shoose, I’d like more Todd/Viki serious drama scenes, and for Tea to forgive Todd already…like THAT is ever going to happen….

Christel Khalil Reveals She Almost Quit Acting After ‘That’s So Raven’ Audition, But Then Came ‘The Young and the Restless’

Published

The Young and the Restless fan favorite, Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) is the special guest on this week’s edition of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart which dropped today on Tuesday, June 23rd.

During the interview with Rebecca and Greg, Khalil who had played Lily Winters on-screen since August of 2002, nearly 24 years with the CBS soap, shared how early on her teenage acting career, she was ready to call it quits in show business, after a heartbreaking audition for the lead of a new Disney Channel sitcom, which later turned out to be the hit seres, That’s So Raven, starring Raven-Symoné which ran for four seasons from 2003-2007.

Christel recalled what happened. “I was 14 and I had always auditioned for all these Disney projects. So I auditioned for That’s So Raven, it was between me and Raven-Symoné and it was called at the time Absolutely Psychic,” explained Khalil. “The character was this girl who had psychic ability, but then when Raven got the role, they named the title of the show after her.”

Photo: CBS

HOW A BROTHERLY TALK CHANGED THE COURSE OF CHRISTEL’S CAREER

Reliving the disappointment to Greg and Rebecca, Christel explained, “I lost that part and I was just so devastated, because for the network call there were 20 people in the room watching me, and I just have always had such performance anxiety. I just completely bombed the audition and it was terrible. So, I was just devastated. I was actually going to quit acting and then I got the final call for The Young and The Restless and I wasn’t going to go.”

It was Khalil’s brother, who actually got her to reconsider, and if he hadn’t, we would not have our Lily Winters in Genoa City! Christel recounted, “I was like, ‘You know what? I’m done. I don’t want to do this anymore. I’m just going to hang out with my friends.’ I was just devastated. My brother, who is seven years older than me, and he had quit acting at the same age that I was at that time. He said to me, ‘I promise you, I actually really regret quitting. Just go on this audition and if you don’t get it, you can quit.'”

Christel’s screen-test for the role of Lily was actually with the late, great, Kristoff St. John who would play her father Neil (Later it was revealed to Lily, that Neil’s brother, Malcolm Winters was her bio-dad).

Photo: CBS

ACTING WAS EASY WITH THE LATE KRISTOFF ST. JOHN

“So, I went (to test for Lily) and I remember the screen-test was with Kristoff St. John. It was just so easy to act with him because he’s just so there. I remember just being on set, and that was my first time there for a screen-test where you were actually on set. I had never experienced that before. It was my first time being with an actor and  having makeup done, which just helps you really be able to do your best work.”

Recalling the screen-test with the St. John, Khalil, “It was where I had to be emotional ( in the scene) and I always had issues being emotional at auditions. But I was there with him, it just came, and it happened. It was natural and I felt so good and it was amazing. It stands out in my mind a lot.”

You can check out the full Soapy conversation with Christel Khalil where she also discusses juggling motherhood, marital life, and the demands of soap operas.

Fan can listen to weekly episodes of Soapy on Audacy or wherever podcasts are available, and can watch full video episodes weekly on the CBS =Brand YouTube Channel. Whether a lifelong fan or discovering the genre for the first time, SOAPY offers a fresh, fun behind-the-scenes look at the stories – and storytellers – that define daytime drama.

Now let us know, over the years what had been your favorite Lily Winters story on Y&R as played by Christel Khalil? What did you think of of Christell’s recollection where she was up for the lead of “That’s So Raven” as a teenager, before it was even titled that? Let us know via the comment section.

Deidre Hall Marks 50 Years as ‘Days of Our Lives’ Dr. Marlena Evans

Published

on

By

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.

It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.

In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

Photo: NBC

There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.

DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.

Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA

Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.

TOP MARLENA STORYLINES OF ALL-TIME

While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!

The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

Photo:JPI

The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.

The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.

The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.

In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Photo: NBC

Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.

It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.

THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA

In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)

In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

Photo: JPI

One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.

Tune-in to Days of our Lives on the Monday, June 22 episode as Marlena looks back at her 50 years in Salem.

Share your congratulations to Deidre Hall for this incredible 50-year milestone as Dr. Marlena Evans on Days of Our Lives in the comment section. Then let us know, what is your all-time favorite storyline or moment in the life of Marlena over the past 5 decades? And, just for kicks, and to celebrate this amazing milestone, here is Marlena levitating below circa Christmas Eve 1994.
