In a brand new feature interview with On-Air On-Soaps, One Life to Live’s head honcho, Frank Valentini discusses working with all of the ABC Daytime acting heavy hitters in the new What If web series that premiere on Monday, July 12th on both ABC.com and SOAPnet.com.   Valentini wore two hats a few months ago; while maintaining the ship over in Llanview in New York, he was able to steal away some time and come out to Los Angeles to direct these web gems with the unlikely, tantalizing, and unbelievable pairings of:  Susan Lucci and Maurice Benard,  Trevor St. John and Bradford Anderson, and Cameron Mathison and Laura Wright, who all appear next week in the first week featuring three What If’s. Valentini addressed why it is important for the soap fans to get behind this iniaitive from ABC Daytime, in a time when soaps have fallen on hard times.

Valentini:  “I don’t buy into the doom and gloom as much.  I know it’s a reality that we are in a recession and budgets are tight, but if the fans love these shows and watch these shows, and continue to support them, and support things like the What If’s, then they should get out there and say positive things.  Look, there are plenty of negative things to say about the world right now, let’s say a few positive things.  Let’s support the things we love before they go away, because then we won’t be able to say anything about them.”

In answer to the continued cancellation rumors facing One Life,  and how he and his amazing cast deal with it, Valentini offered up a very realistic approach.  “It’s a combination of pointing out what the facts are, because rumors don’t mean anything… they are just rumors.  And yes, you can re-check with the network and ask, “Is there something we should know?”  But we look at the ratings, and the sweeps period for the show, and the different segments of the audience.  Obviously, the demographic of 18-49 is very important.  From February up through May we were doing pretty well, and pretty much number three in the demos.  That is very good.  And sometimes, that number goes up, and sometimes that number goes down.  And on a good day it’s great, and on the bad days we try to sit back a minute and think, “OK, what did we do wrong?”  Everybody on our set has a great sense of humor, and they know ABC Daytime is behind us 100%, so we just keep going.”

Three-Time Daytime Emmy Winner, Cady McClain, Reveals She’s ‘Back On Set’ But On Which Show?

After her Instagram post earlier this week, fans of Cady McClain have been attempting to dissect her cryptic tease of a message. McClain, a three-time Daytime Emmy winner, shared the good news with fans that she is ‘back to work’, except she didn’t share which show or project she is working on … just yet!

In her post, McClain teased: “Back on set! Fun to be working again on such a terrific show! Can’t wait to be able to share the news with you all soon! Meantime, hoping you are all taking good care of yourselves. Sending hugs!! ”

Now, it could be Cady is working on a primetime show, not a daytime show, but we shall see.

She has previously appeared on The Young and the Restless and Days of our Lives of the four remaining daytime soaps.  On Y&R she played Kelly Andrews, and on DAYS, Jennifer Horton Deveraux.  And, as viewers of the NBC soap saw this week, Jennifer (in a short appearance by Melissa Reeves) returned to Salem with Jack (Matthew Ashford), only to tie-up loose ends over the holidays and exit the show.

Since DAYS still tapes months ahead, could McClain be returning there, or might she pop up on GH and B&B? The character of Kelly was killed-off of Y&R back in 2015.

Previously, Cady became soap-famous for her roles as Dixie Cooney Martin on All My Children and Rosanna Cabot on As the World Turns.

Share your thoughts on which show you hope Cady is working on, whether, primetime, daytime, or a streaming series, in the comment section below.

The series also stars: Billy Bob Thornton, Faith Hill, Gratiela Brancusi, Sam Elliott, Stephanie Nur, and Tim McGraw to name but a few.
