James Franco, who this year has appeared on the Nick at Nite soap, Hollywood Heights, and is said to be involved in an upcoming project with departed General Hospital star, Steve Burton and Y&R’s executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps, is garnering Oscar buzz again for the upcoming award season in the Supporting Actor category!

According to Huffington Post,  “Franco’s performance in the film Spring Breakers may get a push and an end of the year qualifying run for the film and Franco for the 85th Annual Academy Awards.  Spring Breakers debuted at the Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals.  The consensus among critics was that the film is bonkers, with special praise being bestowed upon Franco for his over-the-top performance as a cornrows-wearing drug dealer named Alien.”

Showbiz411.com says of Franco’s performance in Spring Breakers and why it is a stand-out:  “His character, Alien, is a runaway hit, and a surprising centerpiece of Korine’s as-usual saga of sex among teens–this time on spring break in Florida. Alien turns out to be some of Franco’s best work, and certainly one of the top 5 supporting performances by an actor this season. At first when you see Franco with his cornrows, tattoos, and grillwork, you think he’s playing some run of the mill cheeseball drug dealing pimp. Then you realize that it’s a real character Franco has created, and Alien becomes quite the layered persona.”

Does GH’s Margaux Have A Connection To Someone In Port Charles? If So, Who?

This week, General Hospital viewers saw that the ABC daytime drama series is teasing a potential pairing of Drew (Billy Miller) and the new district attorney in town, Margaux Dawson (Elizabeth Hendrickson), after the two characters run into each other at a concession stand at the cancelled baseball game.

As fans of the soap genre know, Miller and Hendrickson also played former love interests on The Young and the Restless as Billy Abbott and Chloe Mitchell.

During Hendrickson’s first #AskGH live Twitter Q&A when asked: “Is your character connected to someone on the show?”  Elizabeth responded: “As of now Margaux is new to town … but you never know, there may be some connection that has not be revealed yet :)”

That tweet has left fans speculating if perhaps Margaux, has an ex in Port Charles, is tied to a major family in someway, or perhaps has some legal trouble past?

Recently on GH. when Chase (Josh Swickard) arrived on the scene as the new cop (following Nathan’s (Ryan Paevey) untimely death), it was later revealed that he was actually the half-brother to Finn (Michael Easton).  And as we know in the soaps, connections are usually the key to more long term success in a role, rather than being just a standalone character, but there have been exceptions.

General Hospital Promo: Obrecht Decides It’s Time To End Peter’s Life, But Her Plans Go Up in Flames!

This week on General Hospital, looks like Peter (Wes Ramsey) may finally be freed from being kidnapped by Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and Nina (Michelle Stafford), or will he?

In the just released promo from ABC,  Obrecht needs to be stopped, depending on who you are rooting for, that is.  We see her smash Franco (Roger Howarth) in the head from behind on the docks to keep him from uncovering what she has been up to.  Then, it looks as if Obrecht is holding what looks to be a molotov cocktail! “You have come to the end of the road,” she wildly tells Peter.

Nina attempts to stop her, but it’s too late,  Next thing you know the cabin is engulfed in flames? Who will get out of there alive?

Vinessa Antoine Reveals She And General Hospital Have Parted Ways; After Landing Primetime Series Lead

After the fantastic bit of casting news for actress Vinessa Antoine  (Jordan Ashford) over the weekend, today, via her social media accounts, Vinessa has addressed her future with General Hospital.

As viewers know, Vinessa has been cast as the drama series lead in the new CBC production of Diggstown, and it is groundbreaking making her the first black actress to star in a series on the legendary Canadian broadcasting network,   Originally it was presumed that Antoine would go recurring on GH, while she was away filming, but that is not the case as she revealed in her heartfelt message today.  She and GH have mutually parted ways.

Vinessa’s statement: “There are so many people that God put into place who are directly and indirectly responsible for my time at General Hospital.  You know who you are. I thank you. I came into this world as an artist. My job is to create and inspire. I hope that I did that a little in playing #JordanAshford.

I believe that I have taken her as far as I can.  To clarify, as negotiations for #Diggstown were underway, although I am open to stay and play in Port Charles, I was told by my reps that GeneralHospital felt that my character would be off the canvas for too long for me to continue playing her.

With that, we decided to mutually part ways.  It’s time to make room for more women of color in prominent roles on television. I’m grateful to assist in that by starting this new chapter in my journey. I hope you’ll all come along. I feel blessed. Be well. xo”

An ABC rep told Soap Opera Digest that the role of Jordan is being recast.

So what do you think of Vinessa leaving GH for good? Share your thoughts via the comment section below and let’s wish her much success!
