Paramount and YouTube TV Agree to Short-Term Extension Avoiding CBS Soaps and Other Shows From Being Disrupted
In a last minute reprieve, Paramount Global and YouTube TV have reached a short-term solution via an extension so that the internet TV service can continue to carry CBS and more than 20 other networks for the time being. The dispute between the two entities is over a new distribution deal, which has not been fully hashed out.
The two companies have been battling it out over financial terms, with Paramount seeking a rate hike. Their existing deal expired at 11 p.m. ET/8 pm PT tonight on February 13th. The fallout could have affected the launch of the new CBS daytime drama Beyond the Gates for millions who use this service, as well as continued viewing of soap staples; The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless.
However, word of a short-term fix arrived on X, via the You Tube TV account, who shared in a statement, “We’ve reached a short-term extension with Paramount to keep their content on YouTube TV. Subscribers continue to have access to Paramount channels, including CBS. We appreciate your patience as we continue to negotiate on your behalf.” It should be noted that no timeline for how long the extension is for has been revealed.

Earlier today the same social media account for YouTube TV expressed, “For our members: We work hard to bring you the content you love, delivered the way you want. Despite our best efforts, we’ve been unable to reach a fair deal with Paramount to keep their channels on YouTube TV and their channels may be unavailable tomorrow. We understand how frustrating and disruptive this is for our users. We’re committed to continuing conversations with Paramount to advocate for you and hope to keep their channels on YouTube TV.”
For point of reference, YouTube TV is the largest broadband-delivered subscription TV service in the U.S. with more than 8 million customers. The channels that would be affected included: CBS stations nationwide, CBS Sports Network, BET, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, TV Land, Paramount Network, CMT and VH1. In addition, YouTube TV customers would lose access to recorded Paramount content as well as add-on subscriptions to Paramount+ with Showtime and BET+ if the companies can’t reach a long-term agreement.
With the crisis avoided for 8 million subscribers who watch CBS programming and on Paramount+, the short term extension will allow those to see next week’s “Beyond the Gates: Welcome to the Neighborhood” five-part special airing February 17-21, and the premiere of the new groundbreaking soap opera in its regular timeslot beginning on Monday, February 24th a 2pm ET/1pm PT.
So, glad to know that Paramount and YouTube TV reached a deal to keep access to CBS programming and more? Comment below.
The viewing public is sick and tired of the constant greed for these corporations, the content providers and the distributors. I dumped cable decades ago because of the horrible service and constant rate hikes. I went to satellite and stayed with them until last year when their rate hikes became too much. I’ve been with YouTube TV since then. But, they are starting the same nonsense. I guess I’ll just have to go back to the an antenna and be satisfied with whatever I can find on over air broadcast TV. Believe me young people, we were much better off back in the dark ages when there were 3 TV networks and 2 or 3 local independent stations. There was plenty to watch that held your attention.
Thank you so much for keeping this available. How disappointing it would be to lose CBS

BEYOND THE GATES Preview: Hayley’s Poisonous Plot Goes Awry; Heather’s Obsession with Andre Reaches New Heights

This week on all-new episodes of Beyond the Gates, a poison sandwich gets in the wrong hands, Heather’s (Ashley Jones) plot to seduce Andre (Sean Freeman) goes to a whole other level, and Anita (Tamara Tunie) reaches out to her nemesis, Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant), but why?
In the video preview for the CBS soap opera, first, the vision of Doug (Jason Graham) encourages Deanna (Angela Fairley) as Noah Rollins (Nick Hagelin) walks in on the scene where it appears she is talking to herself! How will Deanna explain what or who she is chatting with?
Meanwhile, Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso) is worried for his safety and that of Jacob’s (Jibre Hordges) admitting that the Impaler may be trying to tie up any loose ends, and he could be next on their hit list! Elsewhere, Leslie is stunned when Anita Dupree makes a call to her about her late mother Barbara. We also know ‘Articulettes’ Sharon (Bonita Brisker) and Tracy (Maria Howell) are back this week. What could be going down?

Finally, Hayley (Marquita Goings) puts poison in a sandwich she prepared for Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett). However, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) somehow takes a bite of the sandwich instead. Later, Bill lays the smackdown on Hayley telling her to, “Stop it right now,” and that she’s, “insulting his intelligence.” How will this fight end? Stay tuned.

BEYOND THE GATES Preview: Andre’s Blast From The Past Is Set To Turn His Life Upside Down

On Beyond the Gates, Andre Richardson’s (Sean Freeman) “happily” married life to Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) is about to be tested like never before on upcoming episodes of the CBS soap opera the week of August 17-21.
After the shocking reveal on the Friday, August 14 cliffhanger, viewers learned that the person who was sending Andre ominous text messages is none other than The Impaler herself, Heather Armstrong (Ashley Jones). Clearly from the latest promo for the action at the Bowman hotel and in and around Fairmont Crest (see below), Andre knows Heather quite well, as she makes moves on him.
While all this is going down, Dani tries to diffuse the Dupree family for thinking there is anything going on between her and her ex-husband, Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett). Dani’s behavior over Bill being in the hospital has been of someone who is still deeply in love with the guy (specially because of her very public outbursts) and as viewers know, she recently had sex with her ex in the elevator at the country club during a tornado!

HEATHER ARMSTRONG IS ON THE HUNT FOR ANDRE
Poor Andre has no idea about the elevator liaison, and recently visited Bill in his hospital room to tell him to stay away from his wife, when and if he gets out of his hospital bed! But now, the tables may be turned, if Heather gets her claws into Andre.
