More big returns to re-set Salem, which is what Executive Producer, Ken Corday of Days of our Lives has been touting.
We already learned that Matthew Ashford, Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn are headed back to the series canvas, and now through TV Guide and from rumblings On-Air On-Soaps had heard a month or so ago, it is now confirmed that the original Austin Reed, Patrick Muldoon, and Carrie Brady, played by Christie Clark, are returning to the show as well!

According to TVG, the duo will return to the show in late September, and they begin shooting scenes next week!

The 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards red carpet arrivals featured many a leading man from your favorite soaps, plus the younger stars and veteran actors you’ve come to love.
The gents were definitely about the bowties this year, plus fashion-forward trends, classic suit and tux looks, or sport jacket and no tie. There were a myriad of fashion choices on display from the one thing the soaps are usually known for, ‘hot’ guys.
This year for the first time the red carpet featured the cast of Beyond the Gates who were eligible for Daytime Emmy competition for the first time in their young history, bringing fresh faces and new vibes to the festivities.
LEADING MEN, VETERAN STARS AND NEWCOMERS STRIKE A POSE
Many of this year’s nominees who went on to become eventual winners, previous Emmy winners, and more, took to the carpet to strike a pose for the paparazzi in attendance.
Some of the standout looks came from (pictured above): Steve Burton (Jason Morgan, General Hospital) in traditional black tux with a sheen, Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter Walton, The Bold and the Beautiful), Giovanni Mazza (Gio Palmieri), Jibre Hordges (Jacob Hawthorne, Beyond the Gates) and Michael Graziadei (Daniel Romalotti, The Young and the Restless), all wearing tuxes, suits or sportcoat and trousers with a bowtie, plus now two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Roger Howarth (Matt Clark, The Young and the Restless) who gave us that stellar jacket and more relaxed vibe for the carpet.

The 53rd annual Daytime Emmys red carpet was filled with the leading ladies of soap opera, with an array of styles, looks and fashion trends: from bright vibrant colored gowns, plenty of sequins, pantsuits, retro looks, to fashion-forward and more.
From many an Emmy newcomer to the carpet with the stars of Beyond the Gates making their first-ever appearances on daytime’s biggest night, to veteran fan favorites, to the nominees and the guest stars, these women walked the carpet showing off their 2026 fashion sensibilities to the paparazzi.

53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Winners: ‘General Hospital’ Takes Drama Series, Tamara Tunie and Scott Clifton Top Acting Honors
The 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards have just concluded on Friday night, October 30, and it was ABC’s General Hospital who took home the top prize for Outstanding Drama Series for the sixth time in row. Executive Producer, Frank Valentini accepted the award on behalf of the show.
Beyond the Gates scored its first two acting honors in the young history of the show. Veteran actress, Tamara Tunie won her first ever Emmy for Lead Actress a Daytime Drama Series for her performances as Anita Dupree, while Ambyr Michelle took home the gold in the Emerging Talent category.
Scott Clifton won his fourth Daytime Emmy overall, and second Lead Actor Emmy for his heart-tugging performance as Liam Spencer, who believed he was battling an inoperable brain tumor, only for it to turn out to be medical ruse to bilk Liam’s father out of $1 million dollars.

DECADES BETWEEN BETH MAITLAND AND ROGER HOWARTH LAST EMMY WIN
In the Supporting Actor and Actress categories, Daytime Emmy history was made with Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott, The Young and the Restless) winning her second Emmy 41 years since she won her first won, and Roger Howarth (Matt Clark, The Young and the Restless) following suit for the men with his coming 32 years after he won in 1994 for One Life to Live.

Jeff Kober picked up his second Daytime Emmy win for his role as Cyrus Renault on General Hospital in the Outstanding Guest Performer in a Daytime Drama Series category. He previously won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for the role in 2022, following a nomination in the same category in 2021.
The Kelly Clarkson Show, meanwhile, won Outstanding Daytime Talk Series it its final year, while Sherri Shepherd won for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host after finding out her talker had been canceled after four seasons.

THINK OF LAURA
General Hospital star Genie Francis (Laura) received the Lifetime Achievement Award and shared from the stage, “I know 50 years sounds like an awfully long time, but it doesn’t feel like that to me,” she said. “As they say, if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.”
Overall, General Hospital, Beyond the Gates and The Kelly Clarkson Show received the most gold statuettes for the night with four wins apiece.

Christie Clark is not a surprise… I heard she was coming back months before the changes started at Days and after Sami called Carrie on the phone not too long after that & they actually shot the less than @min scene I knew it wouldn’t be long till she returned to Salem. my only question is why Patrick Muldoon, not that I particularly dislike him but the Austin that was popular opposite of Christie Clark’s Carrie and spent the most time as the character was Austin Preck. I know he’s at OLTL right now but even with the internet pick-up of that show his character isn’t completely necessary & he seems to be only on reoccurring there. IMO the Austin to bring back would be Austin Peck… I watched when Patrick Muldoon originated the role & I know lots of soaps like to go back to the original actor for the part but every now and then they aren’t the one you associate with the role, like if they were to bring Sarah Michelle Gellar back as Kendall over Alicia Minshew. I loved SMG in the role but if she were to come back now it just wouldn’t be the same. Truthfully though I was never a Carrie & Austin fan, I found them boring but I always enjoyed the interaction between Sami and Carrie. Honestly I’d rather have Roark Critchlow back as Mike Horton or Martha Maddison as Belle & I suppose a recast for Shawn since BB and JC are both unavailable. I’m curious though to see how the revamping of Days turns out though since they got rid of some rather popular characters to do it, like Nadia Bjorlin’s Chloe & Crystal Chappell’s Carly especially from what I’m hearing Deidre and Drake are only coming on for a short period. I guess we will see but my reaction to this is luke warm.

I thought I was the only one disappointed to see that Patrick Muldoon is coming back as Austin instead of Austin Peck
I been watching days since 1992 and stop watching about 2000, but I saw both actors who played austin reed and patrick muldoon beats austin peck hands down, yall are crazy to want rip off of jim carrey back. I started watchin days again in 2006, they thank god since austin peck packing that year.

So excited that Christie, Patrick, Deidre, Drake and Bryan are coming back. Now we’ll finally have OUR Days of Our Lives show back as long as Bo and Hope are front and center. Thank you Ken Corday for finally getting the message.
I agree 100%. I love Christie Clarke and Patrick Muldoon. This is the best news I have heard. I am so happy the vets are coming back. Ken Corday wasnt joking when he said that there are major changes coming. I cant wait to see Sami’s face when Carrie and Austin come back LOL. I cant wait for September 🙂 🙂
I am thrilled that my favourite couple from the 90s is heading back to Salem, and I am over the moon that it is Patrick Muldoon this time. I grew to enjoy Austin Peck as Austin but Patrick was always my favourite Austin, and his chemistry with Christie was fantastic. I can’t wait to see them back together all these years later!!
Christie Clark is my favorite! Seeing her on the phone call with Sami was such a tease. So glad she’ll be back full time. Loving the changes so far at Days!

I agree… granted they are part of days history…. none of the returning “favs” have the emotional range and intelligence, and or versatile acting abilities of crystal chappell and louise sorrell….. these two ladies provided comedic and dramatic turns that always kept my interest… i’ve lost interest in days again…

Patrick Muldoon has said on his twitter page nope! To days of our lives. And his flying overseas to a wedding . Soap opera digest confimed Next Week as A C start taping day . So why would Muldoon be flying over seas if his going to be knee high in days scripts? Next week. The weekend is almost over

Trust me Austin is a wonderful actor. There are so many carrie and austin fans. Patrick was great on days. But so was Austin. when the writers did invest in Carrie and Austin’s storyline. Austin acting improved. But how is it the actor’s fault if all the writers ever did was write Austin as shirtless, and have Sami run interference. When carrie and austin were on the ratings were good. As well as Austin and Nicole had great chemistry. bring austin peck back. I think given all that he as been thru. I think his acting will be A class. this time round. The only reason A C left was because of Horgan! The only fans complaing were non carrie and austin fans. How does that help days? When you have other fanbases jumping on board. Who haven’t invested any watching time= ratings. In to A C improve anything. When those thousands of C A fans keep saying bring Austin Peck back. Days would rather listen to Sami and lucas fans. Remember every viewer = good ratings. To keep viewship wouldnt u do anything to keep the numbers rising?
Austin peck. Was ok as austin, he let his stripping and being shirtless do the acting, unlike muldoon. Patrick muldoon was the best austin and he had chemistry with carrie and sami, he is decent actor, and he is not goofy.
the ratings were good when Sami and Lucas was up to there games,love sami and lucas’s attitude,they were good together and fun to watch,and hope they will get back to being a Horton Family with there 4 kids.

I love Austin + Carrie TOGETHER as a couple. Please no more love triangles or quadrilateral situations. Let them be happy TOGETHER & focused on their family(kids). As far as I am concerned:
Austin + Carrie = PERFECT
Austin + Sami = Pathetic
Austin + Nicole/Greta = Shocking
Carrie + Mike = Horrendous
Carrie + Lucas = Disgusting
Patrick muldoon was and is still the best austin reed and he chemistry with both sami and carrie. Sami and austin pairing was not pathetic with muldoon, but peck it was force and werid.
Austin peck needs to return. Patrick, in my opinion- is to old to play Austin Reed. Patrick has no chemistry w// cc or any one. And he looks older then his T.v mom Kate. His voice driving me nuts plus his line delivery is to slow. Also to think that Abby would find this version of Austin Reed “hot” is ricdiclous. Austin was wonderful on As the World Turns, and One life to Live. I hope that tptb bring Peck back. I was so looking foward to C/a. Patrick hasn’t played Austin Reed for 16 years. And if they were going to aged the character. Why not bring back Tracy as Carrie. So Atleast Carrie and Austin, would look the part. Instead this Austin looks more like Carrie’s dad. Austin Peck and Christie Clark were perfect together on screen and have the most chemistry.
Pat muldoon was born 1968 and Austin peck in 1971, now both men have aged and the only reason come on the show was that pat chose to leave.
I havent watched many soaps since probably when “Another World” was cancelled. But watched many growing up in high school, and especially college. I agree that the interaction between Austin Peck and Carrie is the one most would want to see. I remember Muldoon in the begginng as well,..but Peck is much better when pairing up the couple.
I don’t care about their real ages. Pat Muldoon looks sooo much older and he sounds very …fruity. Austin Peck was much better.
Whatever dude, austin peck was ok as austin, but pm was the kick ass austin.
