Days Of Our Lives
Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso Talk Bo and Hope Becoming Part Of Pop Culture, Continuity of Their Characters and DAYS 60th Anniversary
While Days of our Lives fans continue to miss Bo and Hope on-screen, as played by series iconic stars, Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso, the two enduring favorites were the special guests on the Hey Dude … The 90s Called podcast hosted by David Lascher and Christine Taylor.
During the podcast, Peter and Kristian discussed becoming part of pop consciousness in the 80’s and 90’s, working as an actor on DAYS then and more recently, if they like to come back for the show’s upcoming 60th anniversary run, and the importance of continuity of their characters when writing and producing regimes changed over the decades.
In speaking on DAYS incredibly packed taping schedule for cast in recent times. Peter shared, “In preparation of this interview, I was looking at the show and the schedule the actors have, and in the schedule, they have they do a bunch of shows, and they take a couple weeks off.”

Kristian added, “I was there during that time and it’s not as easy at it sounds. Now they are doing 9 shows in a week, which is unbelievable. I don’t know how they are doing it.” Peter added “Yes, for the actors when you are working, you are busting your butt.”
In the ‘never say never’ category, hosts David and Christine asked if Peter and Kristian would like to return to DAYS for the 60th anniversary of the legendary soap opera. Reckell responded: “Looks like a thing I would like to get back in, especially with the anniversary of the show coming up. It would be great to be a part of it.”

When addressing the all-important of continuance of continuity on a show like Days of our Lives, Kristian shared why at some points in her soap career, she was not on the show. The fan favorite expressed: “I am one who likes to be honest when it comes to the history of the characters and I did not see that happening, and I’m not going to lie in my performance or try to sell something that did not happen. If you went into my dressing rooms, you would see stacks of scripts. The reason I kept those was because for many years we had a changing of the guards – writers, producers. So when we get new writers, sometimes they weren’t as familiar with the show. That was one of the reasons I started saving my scripts, so I could look back and go, ‘Hey, listen. I know you want me to say x, y, z and this long monologue, but this never happened! But, it tracks on this page and this show, which was 100 shows ago. The audience is going to remember. We have a very smart audience.”
Alfonso summed it up best when she related, “There were storylines I did not agree with and the directions that they were taking, because it was not honest of who Hope was, or what she endured.”
Reckell added, “It’s a respect for the audience.” Peter gave props to the fans for keeping the love alive for Bo and Hope, “Kristian and I have been so thankful for over so many years.”
So, would you like to see DAYS make sure they have Peter and Kristian back on our screens in time for the 60th anniversary of the show?Share your thoughts in the comment section, and take a listen to Bope’s guest star turn on the ‘Hey Dude… The 90’s Called’ podcast below.
Yes, please have Bope come back❤️
Please bring Bo and Hope back. I have watched days since I was 6 in 1965 with my grandma. Bo and aHope’s lives be story truly got me through hard times because they gave me Hope. Love this super couple. Love both actors so much
I’m thinking we might get a surprise appearance from Bo & Hope over the Hellidays.
I say this because Peter Reckell did an episode of Maurice Benard’s “State of Mind” in August. Maurice does the show live from his home, in the LA area. Peter lives in Alaska these days when he’s not working, and…. as good as State of Mind is, I doubt he would have flown in all the way from Anchorage to do an episode of a YouTube show.
Which of course would mean that he was already in LA. And this would be right about the time Days was taping their Helliday episodes…. including that extended 3 week “dark” period caused by the internal behind the cameras Albert Alarr drama. So… will Bo & Hope be back in time to hang their ornaments on the Horton Xmas tree. Or will he be the “shocking special guest” at the New Years Evil party.. since there seems to be one of those every year, since ReRon started writing Days.
I love Days!!!!
Lets cut to the chase. Are all these recent cast departures related to the return of Bo and Hope? This isn’t the 1980’s and you can’t turn back time no matter how hard you try.
I agree
Mmmh somebody pass me the keys to the DeLorean cuz I love me some Bo and Hope. nah I get what you mean but one thing days has always done is pay respect to its long time characters. Days has a super loyal audience, like my grandma watched it from the first episode till the day she passed. My mom same thing and I do too. Different generations all have our favs and We like when they come back at least for the specials. I mean to this day I remember Alice and miss her on the show. If your areal one ya know what i mean . Xoxo
I do know what you mean. I go back to the days on Days when Maggie was on the farm, however we can’t pretend that Bo and Hope are leads anymore. As Doug and Julie gave way to Roman, Marlena and John, who gave way for Bo and Hope who gave way for Sami, Lucas and EJ who gave way to Chad and Abigail and well you get the picture. Time marches on. Every generation must find its place
Seeing Bo and Hope on and dealing with appropriate stuff is fine. But its no to the Salem PD as Rafe and Jada can handle it.
Yes!! Please have Bo & Hope back, they have been missed tremendously! Days of Our Lives isn’t, a whole 100% without having these 2 beautiful people back on the soap.
LOVE to see Bo & Hope back on DOOL. They are THE perfect couple. Always enjoy their story lines!!
Would love to see Bo and Hope back on Days. I saw them in person in Greenville,SC.at a softball game with other members of Days. I’ve watched it ever since it came on.
I would love to see Hope and Bo (Peter and Kristian) back even if it is just seeing Bo wake up with Hope there and explaining he has a long recovery and rehab. They are a loved part of the show.
Yes I would love to see both hope and Bo back on days, they’re awesome
Yes have BO AND HOPE back, they were such a large portion of great story lines, threw the years
I would love to see the return of nope considering it’s my favorite soap and for me hasn’t been the same since they left still love the show though.
Would love for Bo and Hope to return and be together. The greatest love. And show children and old friends.
Yes it would be awesome to have them back for the 60 Anniversary show
Yes let’s get Bo and Hope back soon!!!
I what days for 50yrs never stop
I would love to see hope and bo back
i just wonder why they have not been back yet there is no new updates on there return so i am hoping that they will come back soon they are both miss so we will have to wait to so if they are coming back naw or for the 60 love them both
Absolutely we NEED, CRAVE and DEMAND the return of this lightning in a bottle, soul-mated dynamic duo of TV: BOPE!!! They’ve still got it and we want ‘em!!!
I really truly hope that bo and hope and ciara and ben with their son bo jr return and Sammie return as well
Even Bo lying in a bed as a comatose vegetable would be more entertaining than the two-digit IQ “serial killer” Connie or the supremely idiotic “Body & Soul” waste of time.

On the latest edition of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart which dropped on Tuesday, July 21, Emily O’Brien is the featured guest. As soap fans know, Emily has worked with Rikaart both in her first soap role on The Young and the Restless as Jana Hawkes and now on Days of Our Lives in her current role of Gwen Rizczech.
While Emily continues on DAYS, she has very impressive list of credits in the other part of her career as a voice-over actress and one in motion-capture in some of the most popular video games in the world.
O’Brien was first seen on The Young and the Restless back in 2006. She recalled her landing the role which eventually paired her for her five year run with Greg Rikaart.

BEING CAST ON THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
“The role was just a few days and she wasn’t even supposed to be English,” Emily recalled. “The role was originally called Jade. Karen Rae, the casting director of The Young and the Restless at the time said to me “Oh, you’re from England. Try it with the dialect.” I put it on and she said, ‘I’m going to bring you back at like 3 for s callback.’ So then they changed the role to Jana and they said she’s going to be a Brit. I was only supposed to be on for like five episodes and it turned into 5 years.”
In explaining why she loved crazy Jana, Emily shared, “Jana was sort of like the misanthrope. She was just was the odd one out and I loved it. I felt so comfortable playing that because she was just eclectic and weird and she loved playing with Ouija boards and she rode a motorbike. There was just so much color to bring to her. It was just such a great match to play with Greg (Kevin), and Christian LeBlanc (Michael) and Tracey Bregman (Lauren).

GWEN, DIMITRI AND LEO ON DAYS OF OUR LIVES
On Days of Our Lives, the Leo, Gwen, Dimitri dynamic is quite unique and been through many schemes and entanglements. Often Emily finds herself in repartee with her ex-lover, Dimitri, who turned out to be gay and then had a thing for her bestie, Leo (Greg Rikaart)!
During the conversation, Greg and Emily sang, Peter Porte’s praised with O’Brien expressing, “Peter is just ready to play. He comes on set prepared. I’ve never seen him with his script. From blocking and rehearsals, he doesn’t have it. He’s prepared. He’s a physical actor and he always trying to come up with something. I think he let me slap him. He let me kiss him. He let me throw a cheeseburger in his lap. He’s ready for anything for anything.”
You can catch the full episode of ‘Soapy; featuring Emily O’Brien below where the actress also talks about replacing Jen Lilley as Theresa Donovan after being let go as Gwen; and being paired again with Greg Rikaart on the Peacock streaming soap opera this time as best friends and more.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Christopher Sean Opens Up About His Daytime Emmy Nomination to Honor His Late TV Father, Drake Hogestyn (Exclusive)

There was not a dry eye in the house when in June of 2025, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean) gets up to eulogize his father, John Black (Drake Hogestyn), after the iconic character passed away and his funeral brought Salem together for one last goodbye.
In real life, Drake Hogestyn had passed away of pancreatic cancer at the age of 70 back on September 28, 2024. When DAYS taped the funeral episode, Drake was still alive and had given his blessing to the series longtime executive producer, Ken Corday, that it was OK with him to kill off his character and to have a memorial. Sadly, shortly after the cast filmed the scenes, Drake died leaving a lasting legacy on DAYS that will never be matched.
Earlier this week on Tuesday, Christopher Sean received the bittersweet news that he had received a Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Guest Performer category for the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards for his performances. Christopher appeared shortly after the news of his nomination on the Michael Fairman Channel’s Daytime Emmy Nominations Special 2026 were he shared his emotional reaction. Here’s part of what he expressed below.

Photo: JPI
WHAT DID CHRISTOPHER SEAN SUBMIT?
“I submitted Paul’s lowest moments in his life, and Paul’s highest moments, meaning the eulogy with John Black, his father, and for my hero, Drake Hogestyn, and Paul getting married to Andrew (Colton Little). So it was two very opposite ends of his life. But what a great culmination of 12 years of being on Days of Our Lives it was.”
ALWAYS BEING GRATEFUL TO DRAKE HOGESTYN
“Even talking about it now, I have so much love for Drake. I’ve got him here on my wall and I wake up every day and I try to make him proud. It’s hard to talk about it, but I feel that my life is on the path that I am because of him, because of him being my role model, because of him loving and guiding me, because of everything that he has taught me on and off the set.”

Photo: JPI
THE EARLY STRUGGLES WITH PAUL’S EULOGY AND HEARTFELT ADDITIONS TO THE DIALOG
“I had been texting back and forth with Drake and I was actually pretty angry, because I felt that we shouldn’t exploit this, but Drake was so attached to the fan base that when Ken Corday spoke with him and gave him the permission to allow the fans to grieve with us, that’s when I said, ‘OK, if that’s what he wants, then I’m going to go full throttle with it.’ In Paul’s eulogy and monologue I’d read it and without asking the writers, I added a few lines and they allowed me to keep them.”
Christopher continued, “One of the lines was, ‘anytime I see a rainbow in the sky’ and I said, ‘and a baseball up high, or a rainbow in the sky,’ because I wanted to attribute it to baseball and to Drake. It was already perfect the way it was written, but that was my nod to Drake. We all loved him and there’s not a person I know who didn’t love him. Drake lit up any room he was a part of. I would not be here, again, without Drake.”
You can catch Christopher’s conversation on the Daytime Emmy Nominations Special at the 2:14:25 mark below.
The 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed in a ceremony on October 30 from the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood California. Current plans are for the event to stream live on the National Academy Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), watch.theemmys.tv and associated apps.
So, will you be rooting for Christopher to take home the gold for his heartbreaking performance of Paul’s grief over losing John and then marrying Andrew? Were you touched by how much Drake Hogestyn had meant to his life and career? Let us know via the comment section below.
