Peyton Meyer to Debut on Days of our Lives as Doug Williams III
What do pop star, Sabrina Carpenter, the series; Girl Meets World, American Housewife, and the late Bill Hayes (Doug Williams, Days of our Lives) all have in common? They all are now a part of the history of actor Peyton Meyer, who will make his soap opera debut in the role of Doug Williams III, the grandson of Doug Williams, who passed away on the Thanksgiving episode of DAYS.
Meyer was first seen in the extended sneak peek for Days of our Lives that dropped at the annual Day of Days fan fest earlier this month in Los Angeles, although at the time, there was no mention of what character he would be playing and now we know! Look for Peyton to debut on the Peacock streaming soap opera on the Tuesday, December 3rd episode.
Longtime fans of Days of our Lives know that when Bill Hayes first appeared in 1970, his character of Doug was a con man and from what we can tell, Doug III, will also have a penchant for being a little mischievous too.

Peyton spoke with TV Insider about his latest acting gig, where he shared, “When we first meet Doug, he’s a mischievous guy. He’s in and out of trouble. No matter where he goes, chaos comes with him. He’s not purposefully mischievous or purposefully wishes harm on people. I think it’s just how he grew up, that everything he does ends up causing a bad karmic chaos storm behind him. He’s a gentle guy and he’s peaceful, but it seems that he doesn’t make the proper choices when he needs to.”
If Meyer looks familiar, he was a Disney Channel star, having shared the screen with Grammy-nominated ‘Espresso’ singer/songwriter Sabrina Carpenter in the series Girl Meets World where he played Lucas Friar. Peyton also played the recurring role of Trip Windsor in the ABC comedy series, American Housewife. He also has quite the Instagram following with over 1.8 million followers checking out his posts

Days of our Lives will mark its 15,000 episode milestone the same day as Meyer debuts as Doug. He shared what it meant to him: “When I got the script, I saw that it was episode 15,000, and I was like, ‘Oh, my, this is insane.’ Huge celebration for the cast and the crew. This is kind of cool that this is my first episode, So I walked on set with the excitement, obviously, of a new show and meeting a whole bunch of new people.”
However, his jovial attitude was met with some very emotionally heavy castmates as they were taping the episodes leading up to Doug’s memorial and the memorial itself. “When I got on set, it was really down,” Meyer recalled. “The energy was really low and I had no idea what was going on. We ended up filming the scenes and after, one of the crew members came up to me and she was like, ‘Just so you know, this is a very emotional day today and the fact that you were able to do that scene and carry a positive attitude into the set was so amazing to watch because I don’t know if you know what’s going on, but it’s very heavy today so thank you for coming in so professionally.’ I think it kind of worked better that I wasn’t fully aware of everything that was going on.”

Susan Seaforth Hayes’ character of Julie will be in for the surprise of her life when she meets Doug Williams III, who will be an extension of Doug that she may have never knew she had. Meyer explains, “I meet Susan and she looks at me and she is so intimidating because she’s so professional.” Unfortunately for Peyton, make-up was running behind even though he got to set an hour and a half early on his first day, so by the time it was his turn to hit the stage, he was running late.
Susan gave Meyer the lay of the land in Salem. According to Peyton, she said, ‘Nice to meet you. Be on time, get your lines down, show up, and be prepared.” He added, “She has such a power on set. I was sitting there as a 25-year-old memorizing 25 pages a night working, filming an episode per day, and I didn’t understand how the process worked and it was so difficult. Watching Susan do it so effortlessly was something that I’ll carry with me forever. She was so professional.”
You can catch the sneak peek preview from Days of our Lives that featured a glimpse of Peyton Meyer’s debut below.
Now let us know, are you happy that Days of our Lives is continuing the legacy of the character of Doug Williams and the late Bill Hayes by the casting of Peyton Meyer as his grandson? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
The concept is okay, but I don’t see him lasting too long into the new regime.
How is he related to Doug and Hope? I can’t imagine Doug with another family.
Doug had a son decades ago, by way of sperm donation or whatever. Fuzzy Devil Memory has made me forget the details, since this all happened back in the 70s but I believe the kid ended up being raised by Doug’s friend Robert LeClaire, who left Salem decades ago.
That kid was named “Dougie” probably even before anybody knew Doug was his father, so if this newbie is “Doug Williams III”, it’s logical that he would be “Dougie’s” son.
Of course “logical” doesn’t mean anything when ReRon is writing.
Well this is becoming a pattern with ReRon’s writing:
Legendary character dies. ReRon brings in a newbie airhog character who serves no practical purpose who has some alleged ties to the dead character, but yet we somehow never heard of them before.
This is just like what he did when Victor Kiriakis died and he brought in that idiot Konstipated who was a cartoonish villain. And this seems to be the case with this new kid too.
Since we know ReRon has already “left the building” let’s hope there’s not another lame newbie character waiting in the wings when Days makes John Black’s death part of the storyline.
Who are his parents supposed to be?
This is a waste and this character will not be around long. There are enough young people on this show. Way too many.
He kind of looks like a young Doug

Thank you for supporting me and supporting my decision to take the leap of faith and believe in myself and, and tell other stories. You know, it’s never goodbye. It’s always ‘see you later’ to me and just leaving with love and leading with love.”

Calderon’s journey on-screen on Days of Our Lives began in October of 2024 and concluded this month. In one of his last appearances Javi was asking a favor from Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) before bumping into his ex, Leo (Greg Rikaart). In story, Javi has a new romance with Gus (Michael Ocampo), while fighting his feelings for Leo. The role of Javi will be played starting on June 30 by Jacob Martinez who takes over the role.
NBC decided to cancel the Brilliant Minds, after it split up the airing of its second season which began in the fall of September of 2025 and the back-half started airing after a long break this past May. Calderon joined the medical drama staring Zachary Quinto for the new season, which sadly was its last.

As for our new family of five, we have all already evolved for the better as we rise like the lotus through the muck of sleepless nights, soul-tingling baby whimpers, and yes, poopy diapers. These babies teach us a clinic on love…all we need to do is saddle up, be still, and take em in. Isabella Barash, you’re my hero. Thank you for the gift of your love. House is full, hearts fuller.”

BRANDON’S BUDDIES CONGRATULATE HIM ON WELCOMING NEW SON
Several of Brandon’s former co-stars have already jumped in the commenting thread including, Rob Scott Wilson (Alex, DAYS) “Congrats my brotha!!,” Dan Feuerriegel (EJ, DAYD) and Eric Martsolf (Brady, DAYS), with whom Brandon appears with in the Day Players Band and more.
Back in April of this year, Brandon was granted an emergency restraining order against his ex-wife, Kirsten Storms claiming that the GH favorite was exhibiting concerning behavior and he feared for the well-being of their daughter, Harper. They each now live separate lives in Tennessee.
