Prospect Park To Name Jennifer Pepperman As Executive Producer Of One Life to Live!

Courtesy/ABC
Breaking news this morning out of Soap Opera Digest! Their sources are telling them that Prospect Park has tapped former One Life to Live coordinating producer Jennifer Pepperman, who is also a former director at One Life to Live and As the World Turns, for the job as the new series executive producer as it begins production and moves online in 2013!
While again, no official press release or statement has yet to be released by Prospect Park (and the naming of Pepperman for the One Life EP job and previously mentioned Ginger Smith for the All My Children EP position) this item certainly makes it appear that things are rapidly ramping up to bring these two iconic shows into production again!
In addition, Digest also reports that Lindsay Hartley (Cara) is inking a deal to be part of the AMC reboot (which was reported previously via Soap Opera Uncensored) and says that Prospect Park has “reached out to three other big name Pine Valley stars and has its sights on some OLTL biggies, too.”
So what do you think of Jennifer Pepperman as the new EP of One Life moving into its next phase with the upcoming web reboot? Hartley signing on? Weigh-in!
Hope Ron C will write for OLTL. There is no reason why he can’t do both (GH too) since he still lives in NY and the show will only be 30 min and 4 days a week.
I agree – I’d like to see Ron still writing for the OLTL characters. Haven’t a clue who this Pepperman lady is BUT whatever get OLTL back in production is okay with me!!
DOUBLE DITTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely he could! Oh PLEASE PLEASE let this happen. What a great thing for 2013 with all the crazy, awful things going on. This would mean so much to so many.
Thank God someone has finally had the brains to put 2 great shows back on the air or on line. Good bye ABC and general hospital we don’t need u to see our OLTL favorite stars.
she also produced OLTL
I think it is a good things I also think it is will be great to have my beloved show soap operas back on my hat goes off to those trying to put them back on the air good luck and I hope it makes it
Fool me once?? … You know how the saying goes.
Why isn’t PP releasing these announcements themselves? Why are they being so quiet? Still skeptical of the whole thing.
PP has our e-mail address to notify us when and where to watch etc..
looking for mine to come !
and none of the TV networks make statements about what they are doing, why should PP .. We won’t hear from PP until they are near ready to launch. and promote, same as all the networks.
Still not going to hold my breath on this til Erika Slezak says its so! 🙂
Just read that Vincent Irizary is signed on to play David Hayward for AMC, so who knows maybe this time PP has their act together….but I’m still not holding my breath..LOL
I wonder if any of the cast of OLTL signed yet with PP yet?????
Maybe they’re waiting for ABC to buy them out and fix the mess they know they made
please do not get our hopes up and then let us down again we miss in love All My Children and One Life to Live they are like part of our family that has been gone now for a year and we want them back we would love to have the original the actors back in their original rolls or characters if possible they make the show and we love them all
I agree! I hope thet aren’t yanking our chains again! I would really like to see OLTL again! Yes Llanview!!!!
The big question to me is,which actors will be returning? A few still live in the NY area, but alot have moved to Ca ,and gone on to other things. If PP is planning on bringing in recasts, then I won’t be watching.
I agree. I’d love to know who has been approached to come back.
If it were a re-cast, I will not watch it either. Has to be the original cast!
When I see it, I’ll Believe it!
ME TOO!!!
I will not believe PP til I see OLTL back on. I don’t trust PP or ABC. They have lied before. Also if Erika Slezak is not on I will not watch.
I agree with everything you said….. Without Erika Slezak OLTL will not be the same……….
I’m excited, yet cautiously optimistic. Fingers crossed!
I’m SO with u on THAT!!! Just lost my mom so would LOVE 2 have my ‘escape’ back, tho I DO NOT need yet ANOTHER reason 4 tears. Puuulease let it be so!!! Will NOT wholly be convinced til I see it!!! As U said…FINGERS X’d Peace Out Peeps 😀
Me too!
I want to believe….but am having a hard time doing so…
I thought PP made a deal with Loraine Broderick the first time around to keep her on AMC writer and producer.Don’t like the sound of this. She knows all the characters on AMC.Seems like alot of lies here. They said they would keep it the same format.Already cut it down to a half hour. Now renaming producer not known to the show. What is it gonna be the new AMC and OLTL with unknown characters.
Lorraine is working at Days now, she’s under contract there. I would not be upset if she could do both shows, same with Ron C. for GH and OLTL.
Better be the original characters! Or I will not watch.
Lindsay Hartley has signed on for AMC.
It’s amazing that Ms. Korman has signed on to continue with “All My Children”. Now, if Ms. Smith starts reaching out to the rest of the remaining castmates of that soap, it’ll be easier.:)
Think happy thoughts! Woohoo!
I’m not holding my breath either.
Here we go again!!!! I was getting used to the GH soap being on at 2 PM. What about Roger Howarth, Kriten Alderson, Michael Easton? They have their feet plante in Port Charles. I think it’s the New Yorkers wanting a soap because they want to have one back in NYC.
IMO, I think this will go nowhere and it will be a donedeal with the NYC soap lovers.
I’m wondering also – how would this affect Todd Manning, Star Manning & John McBain? I would think PP would want some kind of residuals for the use of their character/likeness on GH. A month ago, Ron Carlavati said that John McBain/Natalie Banks aka-JOLIE story would continue, which show does Natalie (Melissa Archer)go on?Jolie fans have been waiting a year for her return. PP or ABC needs to get off the pot! Will be waiting for the real story.
BTW – Recasts of the original cast members won’t do for me, either!
I remain wary, but I would love to see AMC and OLTL back in production. That said, I am preparing myself for new versions of each. As time goes by and in a new online format, I do not expect the same atmosphere or the same actors and characters. I expect a couple to establish the new series and get us on our way, but I am prepared for a lot of “brand new” should this come to pass.
I’m just happy to hear there is progress!
Me too! I’ll take them however we can get them & with whoever we can get. Anything would be better than what we have.
I agree Gloria, something is better then nothing! I am also grateful that Michael Fairman is reporting anything he finds out.
Okay, if these shows; OLTL and AMC are put back in production would be a blessing for all of us who have missed them so very much. But the question is… what actors are going to return to their roles? Starr is in contract to GH, So is Roger Howorth, and so is Michael Easton. Are they going to play both soaps? Or are all the roles being planned by new faces? The show will have same name but different actors. Alot of ifs if you ask me. Going to hold out till fat lady sings! I would love for Bo and Nora to resume their roles; Clint and Vicki, Natalie and Liam, the Butler. Many more regulars. Bring Jason back to GH!!!
i just hope Jessica, Bree, And Ryder come back.
Hope Jessica comes back with Bree and Ryder
I hope this happens.
I have remained cautious because our hearts have been broken before. However, if it happens, it will be wonderful. I think, because so many of the stars have gone their own way over the past year, it will take a while for the stories to come back. Maybe the all characters and their story lines will be able to return in time, or maybe they will need to be played by others. I think no matter what, it will take time to rebuild them, but that is ok, we are patient, right?
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let this be true regarding OLTL & AMC!! I cannot tell you how happy this would make me & millions of other devoted fans! You really don’t know how important these shows are to our lives. If its not true, then please dont get our hopes up.
Unless/until Prospect Park strikes a deal with the WGA (writers’ union), RC will not be able to write the new OLTL. Sadly ditto for LB and AMC, whom I really want as HW so I’d have a good chance of seeing my David/Cara/baby love/family story continue!
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM BACK ON TV.BUT IF THEY PUT IT ONLINE I WOULD STILL WATCH IT.I HAVE WATCHED THEM FOR OVER 30 YEARS.I WAS SO SAD TO SEE THEM GO.
Again all I have to say it better be the same characters that we have grown to love and watch for all these years! It wouldn’t be the same without ERIKA SLEZAK etc….
would be nice if they could still have OLTL characters interact on GH, maybe have a couple of tie in stories to get people watching OLTL again.
I love Todd and Starr on GH, but it looks like they may be having a problem integrating McBain.
Great news but still not sure the shows will be something I will watch. I need all my veteran actors in their roles. No HBS, Bob Woods, Erika Slezak, and Robin Strasser and I will not be watching.
I hope this is true. I so want to have ONE LIFE TO LIVE back. Like many have said, its about the actors/actresses who played these roles we love. Of course, some recasts are inevitable. I can’t speak for AMC, but OLTL has to get Erika Slezak. I know she was one of the first to sign on originally. I truly believe PP will do whatever they can to sign on Erika. She is OLTL and the show needs to be based around her and the Buchanans.
I m keeping my fingers crossed. Love you OLTL.
Glad to see that OLTL has been victorious. Let ABC fail, but watch in misery and regret that they let their two soaps go. Glad to see The Revolution failed, as well as failing Katie and The Chew, and yet OLTL will be brought back!
Doubt if abc will suffer like you would like it to, as abc still owns the show if prospect park succeeds in relauching amc n oltl abc will make $$$ of it .
Fingers still crossed!
I don’t doubt these shows will be launched and they may get some of the actors back but they won’t last. Any successful web series out now is done on a shoe string budget (single set or literally in a rented house) and not put out 4 days a week (I don’t care if it’s only 30 minutes). My fear is that PP pulled the rug from under us at the last minute once before which resulted in both shows (more so AMC) from getting a proper send off. So if they botch this up, this will screw the shows even more. People who think these are going to be the shows that we are used to seeing – just shorter and only on 4 days instead of 5 – are going to be sorely disappointed.
Down with all the nay saying… I am just happy OLTL is being given a second chance and I for one, will be watching. Good or bad, we have been given what we all have wanted… until it’s up and running, I will reserve any judgement.
I can’t believe that since AMC ended that a young talented actress like Lindsay Harley wasnt offered any other roles to play on TV.
If both shows ( amc, oltl, ) are being brought back in a 30 min format with only 4 original episodes a week then they don’t have to get/ gather everyone back all at once. It’s going to be a reboot for both shows as neither show can just pick up where they left off, so, so maybe they’ll have some familiar faces mixed in with new characters an begin a new chapter to their long history. For fans to expect all their faves to return is unrealistic as some wont want to come back.
I really hope this will happen for OLTL (and AMC)
In the case of the OLTL actors already on GH, it’s not really a question of wanting to return or not. PP owns the licensing rights to the characters, & ABC is currently paying a “rental” fee to use them on GH. If PP decides it wants some or all of those characters back for the reboot, it won’t matter what the actors want – they won’t be able to continue playing those characters on GH. At least not permanently – not unless they agree to do the reboot. Roger Howarth can refuse to sign with PP, but that may prevent him from playing Todd. He’d either have to leave GH or begin playing a different character. Same for the others.
“Revenge of the Soaps” article by Alex Ben Block in the 12/14/12 edition of the Hollywood Reporter says there is a “ratings resurgence” for the current soaps still on the air. Fans are hyper-loyal & will find us on the web . . . too bad The Guiding Light is not among those finding the light on the web . . .
One of the things to consider is that the soaps will be taped in Connecticut. The majority of the cast of AMC has settled in Los Angeles. I don’t think many of them would want to move back to the New York area for a half hour show only 4 days a week.
That totally makers no sense. I know I would not.
don’t know a thing about her, but power to her and hope this is a go — for real this time!
so, can anyone tell me, how do you “record and save” and online show to watch later??? like maybe I’d watch it after work, or like maybe I want to watch it years from now? Is there a way to save it to your own computer?
only asking because I’ve never watched online programming… I suspose they would have it to click on for a while, like ABC has GH you can watch, but they only keep it for what a few days and it’s gone. I’d like to keep the shows to watch much later, or over and over.
Interesting….
OMG I AM SOOOOOOO excited that ONE LIFE TO LIVE could be returning!!!!
I grew up with that show and was soooooo sad to see it end… I will be waiting and excited to see it come back!!!! Thanks so much for giving it back to us! :o)

Mark Consuelos Mourns the Loss of His Father
Saul Consuelos, the father of All My Children alum and Live with Kelly and Mark co-host, Mark Consuelos (ex0-Mateo, AMC), has died. During an emotional moment on this mornings, April 6 edition of the syndicated talk show, Mark shared, that his dad, “passed away peacefully” back on March 23 following a long illness.
His wife and co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) paid tribute to her her father-in-law expressing, he was, “the greatest person I’ve ever known. I can honestly say I will miss him every day for the rest of my life, as I know you will, as our children will. He really is so symbolic of everything you are.”
Kelly and Mark’s children, Joaquin, Michael and Lola Consuelos are said to be taking this extremely hard. Ripa added, “This is the first loss they’ve ever experienced in their lives. And I said, ‘By the time I was 8, I had no grandparents. You got to grow up (with grandparents). You got to have deep, meaningful conversations (with them).”

In another moment, Mark reflected on his dad. “It’s funny, I used to make a joke about my dad … if you asked him what time it was, he would tell you how to build a watch. There were a lot of lectures, a lot of lectures and I learned so much. If he was fixing something in the house, he’d make me watch and do it. And I didn’t know at the time why he was doing that. But now at the house, I’m able to do at least half of the stuff that he did. I learned the most by just watching him.”
Mark added that Saul Consuelos came to the U.S. from Mexico in his early teens and served our county for decades, detailing, he “Ended up at Special Operations Command in Tampa. This young kid from Mexico just got his education from the navy. Was always going to school. Was brilliant. Got his Masters while I was a kid. He loved his country so much, If you’re going to put a face to an immigrant, he would be the prime example of what this country promises people.”
In a very heart-tugging moment, Consuelos shared that now its important they be there for his mother, Camilla. “We gotta take care of mom. We’re trying to convince my mom to move to New York. She’s such a character, she’s stubborn. What do you think, a cooking segment here on Fridays with Camilla?”
Now below, watch the very touching and emotional moments as Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa mourn the loss of Saul Consuelos.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Visits ‘The View’ Where Hosts Sidestep Controversial ‘Buffy’ Reboot Axing, But Talk ‘All My Children’
On yesterday’s March 17 episode of The View, All My Children alum, Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall Hart), was the special guest. Since Monday, Gellar has been the subject of a hot-button issue since about the surprising turn of events that the highly-anticipated Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, in which she stars, and which was directed in the pilot by Oscar-winning director, Chloé Zhao, was no longer moving forward.
Gellar‘s appearance on the ABC morning talk show was devoid of any mention of Hulu cancelling its planned Buffy: New Sunnydale, in which Sarah was set to appear along with Ryan Kiera Armstrong. However, Gellar did discuss her new movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come from Searchlight Pictures.
It should be noted that both Hulu and Searchlight Pictures are owned by The Walt Disney Company, while The View is produced by ABC News, which is also owned by The Walt Disney Company.

During the awkward interview, when it became clear the ‘Buffy’ reboot topic was off the table, The View co-host Sunny Hostin, talked about the “intense fight scenes” that have become a staple of her TV and film career starting with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Scream 2, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The ladies of The View also brought up Sarah’s beginnings on All My Children as Kendall Hart (1993-1995), showing a scene with her and her on-screen mother, the iconic Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci. The discussion sprung out of another All My Children alum, Michael B. Jordan (ex-Reggie Montgomery) winning the Oscar this past Sunday for Best Actor for his role in Sinners. The View’s Joy Behar was quick to point out with Gellar, the All My Children alums that have gone on to great fame.

Photo: ABC
Previously on Monday, Gellar opened up to PEOPLE about being blindsided before while at the SXSW Film & TV Festival premiere for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. “I got the call as we were stepping onto stage for the premiere of their own movie. And it’s also the weekend of Chloé going to the Oscars as a best director nominee for Hamnet. For them to call us on the Friday of what should have been Chloé’s victory lap for an incredible film, and my world premiere of something that I worked very hard for is… that says something.”
She went to say, “We had an executive on our show who was not only not a fan of the original, but was proud to constantly remind us that he had never seen the entirety of the series and how it wasn’t for him.” Deadline reports that “multiple sources” identified the executive as Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich.
“I loved the duality that we had with this new, younger slayer who was where Buffy was when the show started, and then we would pick up with where Buffy was now,” Gellar told People about the setup. However, according also to Deadline “After the pilot was completed and delivered, according to multiple sources, Hulu’s main note was that it played too young, with some indicating that the streamer also felt the show was too “small.”’
In the rewrite, sources also told the outlet that the writers did not take big enough swings, so they set out to do a rewrite it again. The last revision was more adult, featuring a lot more of Gellar’s Buffy, and was described as a more of a streaming show than a network one. When all is said and done there is hope that another Buffy IP will be up and running within the next couple of years.
You can check out Sarah Michelle Gellar’s full segment on The View below. Now let us know, bummed there is no Buffy reboot? What do you think about how this high profile Hollywood saga was side-stepped on the morning show? Did you love Sarah as the original Kendall Hart on All My Children?
