As fans gear up to see the returns of their beloved soaps All My Children and One Life to Live, Prospect Park’s Jeff Kwantinetz answered some burning questions with Soaps.com that many soapers have asked and have been trying to determine the answers to with some good sleuth work!
When relating what the viewer can expect in terms of storytelling with the reborn AMC and OLTL, Kwantinetz stated, “We don’t want to do anything to shock people or to do things to make a statement. The idea is to do what’s best for the storytelling. The advantages of being online give the actors and writers more creativity. We can’t go too far because we still are advertiser based and certainly don’t want to offend people. We want the storylines to be more relevant to current issues and what people are going through – though somewhat edgier and sexier at times. But it’s all to service to story.”
So do you like Jeff’s take on how they intend to bring One Life and All My Children into 2013 with more current relevance, and being edgier and sexier? Let us know!

At that time, LaRue shared via Instagram, “NEW All My Children channel streaming classic episodes 24/7 now on Pluto TV Canada! Fingers crossed to watch soon on Pluto US.”

Mark Consuelos Mourns the Loss of His Father
Saul Consuelos, the father of All My Children alum and Live with Kelly and Mark co-host, Mark Consuelos (ex0-Mateo, AMC), has died. During an emotional moment on this mornings, April 6 edition of the syndicated talk show, Mark shared, that his dad, “passed away peacefully” back on March 23 following a long illness.
His wife and co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) paid tribute to her her father-in-law expressing, he was, “the greatest person I’ve ever known. I can honestly say I will miss him every day for the rest of my life, as I know you will, as our children will. He really is so symbolic of everything you are.”
Kelly and Mark’s children, Joaquin, Michael and Lola Consuelos are said to be taking this extremely hard. Ripa added, “This is the first loss they’ve ever experienced in their lives. And I said, ‘By the time I was 8, I had no grandparents. You got to grow up (with grandparents). You got to have deep, meaningful conversations (with them).”

In another moment, Mark reflected on his dad. “It’s funny, I used to make a joke about my dad … if you asked him what time it was, he would tell you how to build a watch. There were a lot of lectures, a lot of lectures and I learned so much. If he was fixing something in the house, he’d make me watch and do it. And I didn’t know at the time why he was doing that. But now at the house, I’m able to do at least half of the stuff that he did. I learned the most by just watching him.”
Mark added that Saul Consuelos came to the U.S. from Mexico in his early teens and served our county for decades, detailing, he “Ended up at Special Operations Command in Tampa. This young kid from Mexico just got his education from the navy. Was always going to school. Was brilliant. Got his Masters while I was a kid. He loved his country so much, If you’re going to put a face to an immigrant, he would be the prime example of what this country promises people.”
In a very heart-tugging moment, Consuelos shared that now its important they be there for his mother, Camilla. “We gotta take care of mom. We’re trying to convince my mom to move to New York. She’s such a character, she’s stubborn. What do you think, a cooking segment here on Fridays with Camilla?”
Now below, watch the very touching and emotional moments as Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa mourn the loss of Saul Consuelos.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Visits ‘The View’ Where Hosts Sidestep Controversial ‘Buffy’ Reboot Axing, But Talk ‘All My Children’
On yesterday’s March 17 episode of The View, All My Children alum, Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall Hart), was the special guest. Since Monday, Gellar has been the subject of a hot-button issue since about the surprising turn of events that the highly-anticipated Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, in which she stars, and which was directed in the pilot by Oscar-winning director, Chloé Zhao, was no longer moving forward.
Gellar‘s appearance on the ABC morning talk show was devoid of any mention of Hulu cancelling its planned Buffy: New Sunnydale, in which Sarah was set to appear along with Ryan Kiera Armstrong. However, Gellar did discuss her new movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come from Searchlight Pictures.
It should be noted that both Hulu and Searchlight Pictures are owned by The Walt Disney Company, while The View is produced by ABC News, which is also owned by The Walt Disney Company.

During the awkward interview, when it became clear the ‘Buffy’ reboot topic was off the table, The View co-host Sunny Hostin, talked about the “intense fight scenes” that have become a staple of her TV and film career starting with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Scream 2, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The ladies of The View also brought up Sarah’s beginnings on All My Children as Kendall Hart (1993-1995), showing a scene with her and her on-screen mother, the iconic Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci. The discussion sprung out of another All My Children alum, Michael B. Jordan (ex-Reggie Montgomery) winning the Oscar this past Sunday for Best Actor for his role in Sinners. The View’s Joy Behar was quick to point out with Gellar, the All My Children alums that have gone on to great fame.

Previously on Monday, Gellar opened up to PEOPLE about being blindsided before while at the SXSW Film & TV Festival premiere for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. “I got the call as we were stepping onto stage for the premiere of their own movie. And it’s also the weekend of Chloé going to the Oscars as a best director nominee for Hamnet. For them to call us on the Friday of what should have been Chloé’s victory lap for an incredible film, and my world premiere of something that I worked very hard for is… that says something.”
She went to say, “We had an executive on our show who was not only not a fan of the original, but was proud to constantly remind us that he had never seen the entirety of the series and how it wasn’t for him.” Deadline reports that “multiple sources” identified the executive as Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich.
“I loved the duality that we had with this new, younger slayer who was where Buffy was when the show started, and then we would pick up with where Buffy was now,” Gellar told People about the setup. However, according also to Deadline “After the pilot was completed and delivered, according to multiple sources, Hulu’s main note was that it played too young, with some indicating that the streamer also felt the show was too “small.”’
In the rewrite, sources also told the outlet that the writers did not take big enough swings, so they set out to do a rewrite it again. The last revision was more adult, featuring a lot more of Gellar’s Buffy, and was described as a more of a streaming show than a network one. When all is said and done there is hope that another Buffy IP will be up and running within the next couple of years.
You can check out Sarah Michelle Gellar’s full segment on The View below. Now let us know, bummed there is no Buffy reboot? What do you think about how this high profile Hollywood saga was side-stepped on the morning show? Did you love Sarah as the original Kendall Hart on All My Children? I am suspecting they are going to push the foul language like on cable television.
Here’s Hoping!
While some just can’t get enough of the F-word in every sentence, others of us think foul words can be used to make a point. That is what I like about the cable shows that only say the S— word. Take in point one of the best shows right now, JUSTIFIED. There was a scene last year where star Timothy Olyphant in character answers a question with “I’m just going to file that under who gives a s—.” That is funny and it works, but not because every other word is F-this and S-that. Or the movie, A CHRISTMAS STORY when Ralphie says the “F dash, dash, dash word.” One time in the movie, and it was funny and used for effect and not gratuitously.
I had a hard time watching another Timothy Olyphant show back in the day, DEADWOOD, because every scene involved the word c—sucker. I counted one time and there were 31 instances in one episode alone, but the writing and the acting was there and the show was very critically acclaimed. It worked.
I am starting to wonder if, at 38 and a mother of two little ones, if I am just too old. My husband and I watched the movie THE WATCH last night. I thought it was horrible. Everyone was saying stupid things and making penis jokes. The swearing was all over the place and I did not think it added to the movie. So I look at the reviews on Amazon and see that the majority actually agree with me. Maybe this 30-something is not that old, but I have definitely grown tired of Hollywood and the need to put the F-word into everything.
I am just hoping that all of you that have prayed for these shows to come back are not going to be disappointed and wish that your shows had stayed canceled. I fear that something is going to be lost or compromised in this new format and production. I hope I am wrong but I have seen this happen a lot. As much as I wanted ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT to stay on the air (no thanks to you, FOX!), I fear that once it airs on Netflix, it is not going to be everything I loved about it in the first place. Here is hoping I am dead wrong about this in both instances.
Still really nervous. Happy, but really nervous. Not sure where or how it will air. Still taking a wait and see attitude……………..
Any prospective dates for AMC & OLTL to start? And where exactly we go to watch? Can’t wait!!
It was mentioned around the 1st of April ..
And no doubt when they are ready to launch we will fully informed where and when to watch..
I sent my e-mail address, last year, to be notified as to where and when.. I’m sure PP has kept all the e-mail address to notify us..
You may need to give them your email address again. They already sent out an email to their list about casting yesterday, signed by Jeff Kwatinetz. Did you get it?
are we going to have to pay to watch our soaps ?
Yes, sign up for info at “The Online Network” They have sent out an email to anyone who has signed up Look for the shows to start in April.
I bet they’ll have a ROKU channel set up. That’s how the other internet TV channels are viewed.
I’m sure all will be well..
And- people of all ages and races do swear, it is a part of the american langue at least It would be more realistic when someone was very angry to express that emotion with a word or two..lol
I’m sure IF there were to be ”expressive” words used they would not be of the overly offending kind..
So excited….cannot wait to see everyone again!
then head writer of 1 life said in April sometime
Edgier…fine…sexier, I could live with that but aside from this there better be some substance. Fans didn’t fight hard to get their shows back just so that they can be taken in a completely different direction that might become unrecognizable.
”some substance” ?
Agnes Nixon will make sure we will have substance 🙂
PP brought Agnes on-board for a reason, they trust her judgement and input..
I am so looking forward to both soaps returning!!!
And anxious to see them modernized ! 🙂
I hope they do; ABC had Agnes as a consultant for years and ignored her advice.
Well ABC has shown us how intelligent they are! Not surprised they treated Agnes that way – jerks!
I think they will do a great job because the pressure will be on them big time. So I don’t think anything will be sloppy or lazy. I look forward to it!
Finally some story rather than plot devices. AMC was guilty of that. Also I hope they focus on educational entertainment, Agnes’ Trademark!
As I read this I noticed the RIP signs have been taken off OLTL and AMC! This is really going to happen fellow fans! It is our job to make sure they are a success!
So far I’m not thrilled with any of the news and the cast of characters seem a bit random, but I still have my fingers crossed!
The cast does not seem random for OLTL..
Can’t wait to see if Vicki drops the F bomb….lol. Any word if Erica has signed on?
Hillary/Nora says/said the F word in the on-line sop Venice ..
It gave me a chuckle lol ..
LOL…. that would be Nikki
I read that the format for the Friday episodes will be a recap of some sort but also may include cast interviews and other footage. I think cast interviews and maybe showing some “bloopers” would be awesome to see.
I love seeing the actors outside their characters (so to speak).
what a great idea about “bloopers”
I wouldn’t mind seeing… some re-takes… reshooting scenes just to see the dramatic takes… with various actors.
what he said doesn’t really tell me anything. I’m just wondering about previously things eluded to, such as wanting to be more of a younger crowd kind of thing. I always liked Star’s stories when she was a lot younger – she got in to a lot of trouble and was funny (kinda like Todd when he got to be funny – like when she was seeing Madam Defina(?) and took cabs across town) but I didn’t get into the young character storylines they always pushed on you during the summer time. I wanted to watch Vicki, Clint, Bo, Asa, Renee more than the teenagers… even when I was a teenager! I just hope they don’t ‘kill’ off the older characters in favor of just teen storylines.
Hey Michael – I just noticed you removed the R.I.P.s from OLTL and AMC!
how great is that to be able to do that?!
Hi Christy:
It was great. Never thought we would be able to do that, but as I said with good faith I have removed them. Stay tuned! Thanks for all of your comments!
Michael
Hi Michael,
I noticed that myself, but is there a “life support” sign you can use until we know definitely whether they will air? Just curious…
lol .. no need .. it is a done deal, they will air ! 🙂
(( all systems go ))
It’s a great day to see that gone! I am thrilled that we will have our beloved show, One Life To Live back soon.
I’ll second what Troy said. Until AMC and OLTL are on the air, there is no 100% guarantee that they will be back.
Prospect Park fooled us once before and it can happen again even if it’s involuntarily.
Up and coming, trendy stories are fine, but let’s stay true to character. Destiny would turn to God, or the Buchanan grandparents, not Sugardaddy.com! MAYBE Vimal’s sister could use that storyline instead! And why did they not approach Ilene Kristen???
I think overall the News is very exciting, except for the fact that we are going to have to accept the fact that a good portion of the actors on ALL MY CHILDREN have moved on to other projects. So, some new cast members and characters will be coming our way I am sure. I love Susan Lucci, but it does not appear she will be available so I am just wondering, who would fans like to see in the role of Erica Kane or will the show take over from where it left with Jack leaving, saying “Erica frankly I don’t give a damn what you do” (no word of Walt W. returning) and Erica runs out after him – fans will recall a little over a year ago when Opal said “now you’ve really lost him this time” (or something like that) – well the wonderful Jill Larsen is returning as Opal which is great but who will play her best gal pal Erica – will they just write Erica Kane out of the show? Some years ago in the 90’s there was a different Tad Martin but it’s hard to think of anyone in the role other than Michael Knight – what do the fans think?
Didn’t the cliffhanger leave it with JR shooting someone and Erica walking by? That could be a way to right her off.
Frankly, I think Susan Lucci is wise to move on. I think some fans fail to see that by canceling AMC and OLTL it has allowed (or rather forced) some to find work elsewhere. For some of these actors, it is just the shot in the arm they needed for their careers whereas others sit unemployed.
Yes, the cliffhanger was (just a little over a year ago) when Erica ran out after Jack, and just at that point J.R. pulled the trigger. My point is, if they continue from there, there is no one to play Erica Kane, Walt Willy hasn’t announced a return as Jackson, and the young actor who currently plays J.R. isn’t returning to the role right now. Yes, they can re-cast these roles (don’t know about Erica Kane though, that would be difficult for fans to accept) and that’s I guess what they would have to do. What do the fans think?
Recasts aren’t necessary for some. I’m sure some time has elapsed in Pine Valley and Llanview. JR could currenlty be behind bars after the shooting, Erica could be living in California staring on something or another. AMC had much more of a mass life & death finale. Some actors may have Bern shot, others might have moved out of town. I hope Bobby Eakes and Michael Knight return. Am thrilled about Thorsten Kaye. Would be fantastic to have David Canary back as well. PP spoke of acquiring a younger cast so I’m uncertain how many established actors will return and how many youngsters (Spoke,Ian, Adam Jr) may be aged.
I am looking forward to OLTL & AMC returning via internet… I can’t wait !!!!!
I am SO excited I can’t stand it! These shows have been in my life since the time I can remember. I too am keeping the wait and see attitude, but I can’t wait! Any word on Michael E. Knight (Tad)? Hope he will be joining the AMC cast.
Don’t need it any sexier, it’s not a porn show, and I think they already had it too sexy. Kids watched this show for craps sake!
The reboots are eagerly anticipated in my household. Probably I’ll splurge for Huluplus to be able to watch on my flatscreen rather than the computer. Joyfully awaiting the return of OLTL and AMC. Seems like PP have (finally) made excellent decisions on the revivals.
he sould sart were thay lef t off amc were jr sot somone and go from there and oltl were todds brothere was alive . u should hasve christina bennet lid and sarah gleeding back on amclove those two toghether
I could actually see the two soaps combine thus having a huge wealth of talent. I don’t think there are enough cast members on either show right now to pull it off. Combined, it would be phenominal.
