Days Of Our Lives

RATINGS: All Soaps Up In Total Viewers: Y&R & B&B Bounce Back, DAYS Most-Watched Week In Over 7 Months!

The ratings are out for the week of September 28th through October 2nd, and all four network daytime dramas increased in total viewers.

Leading the pack, and bouncing back from a loss the following week was CBS’ The Young and the Restless.  The number one soap added +213,000 total viewers, followed by The Bold and the Beautiful which rebounded adding +178,000.

Both daytime dramas showed a 5% increase from the previous ratings.  Y&R and B&B also showed gains in the 18-49 womens demo, while Y&R is still tying a low for the rating shares in that category.  NBC’s Days of our Lives reports it had its most-watched week in over 7 months bringing in a total viewer average count of 2,496,000, with a weekly increase of +86,000.  The show also gained viewers in the 18-49 and 18-24 demos.

General Hospital also was in the positive, adding 7,000 total viewers for the ratings week bringing it to 2,600,000.  However, GH found itself in the minus column in the 18-49, 18-34, and 25-54 womens demo categories.

Numbers are based on Live+Same Day ratings

(Compared to Last Week/Compared to Last Year)

Total Viewers
1. Y&R 4,612,000 (+213,000/+28,000)
2. B&B 3,630,000 (+178,000/-92,000)
3. GH 2,600,000 (+7,000/-229,000)
4. DAYS 2,496,000 (+86,000/+3,000)

So, taking a look a the performance of your favorite soap, how do you predict the ratings may change in the coming weeks?  Do you think Y&R will increase because of the Adam reveal?  Will B&B because of the Ridge/Caroline/Thomas reveal?  Will GH continue to increase total viewer count under new or revised long story from new head writers: Jean Passanante and Shelly Altman?  And, will DAYS finally have its major resurgence as it goes through the next few months of story through their 50th anniversary in November?  Share your predictions in the comment section below!

Y&R bounced back But their demos are terrible, 4 straight weeks in the 18-49 category among the others. The Adam reveal didn’t help them much those numbers are still bad compared to where they were 8 months ago.

It is turning out just I said. The absence of the gay storyline means an increase in the ratings for Days. I believe the ratings will continue to increase.

Those persons who are continuously offended by my statements about the correlation between the gay storyline and the ratings at Days can check it out for themselves! But the proof is in the pudding!

Persons who were in favor of the gay storyline were not strong enough in number to maintain a good rating. I’m am quite sure this played a part in the decision to kill off Will Horton. If the storyline did not work the character is expendable. They never should have used a character from one of the main families to be gay. Would have been better to use a new and unattached character so that when the story failed a main character would not be destroyed.

I would guess the ratings bump is more from curiosity of checking out the return of the many veterans than the lack of any particular storyline. The “proof in the pudding,” as you put it will be reflected in the numbers six months from now, when the hubbub over the returns has died down and the shock value of the serial-killer storyline is over. Only then will there be a clear picture if people are sticking around for the new focus of the show.

The reality is that Days does not have that much time to get its act together ratings-wise. Supposedly, in December or January, NBC is supposed to make its decision on whether or not to renew Days past September 2016, the conclusion of Sony’s current contract with the network for the show. Keep your fingers crossed.

I agree that six months from now will give a real picture of how the new changes have done. Looking forward to seeing those ratings.

hmmm I am gay and I have to disagree with you… it is not the gay storyline.. it is that the writing overall is much better…

Um, Kim Richards, Days went up in ratings because the stories were riveting and old vets came back. It’s why a non-Days watcher like me tuned in and I was not disappointed.
Stop trying to manipulate the numbers to accommodate your homophobic agenda.

Who is Kim Richards?

Harry, this poster knew if he mentioned the “G” word he would get attention. Thats why I’m responding to you and not him or her! FANS, not haters, want good stories. We dont care about their sexuality or skin color. Give us a good story and sprinkle in a few vets here and there and we are happy! Can I get an amen?

I meant to say Kim Davis, and you are correct, Timm.

Hey, Harry.
I have already spoken my peace to this poster. There is something wrong when low ratings are blamed on gay storylines. However, he/she persists. There is something to be said for those posters who make themselves gender-anonymous. There is no point trying to MAKE a point with a closed mind. But, he/she is entitled to his/her opinion…..as bigoted as it may be.
I, for one enjoyed Sonny and Will….. (Well, actually I preferred Massey; but, lately I just felt sorry for the character, knowing his end.) The marriage only reinforced the fact that even gay couples have the same everyday issues as any other ‘straight’ married couples. Shame on those who can’t get past the reality that gays are part of this world.

Who is Kim Davis?

CeeCee

I know gays are a part of this world. “There is nothing new under the sun.” But that doesn’t mean I want to watch gay activity on my favorite TV show. People have the right to exercise their choice of what to watch on television. Fortunately/unfortunately (depending on your perspective) the exercising of that right will eventually affect WHAT is on television. That is what has happened here. A whole lot of people exercised their right not to watch Days of our lives, and there is evidence that says their decision not to watch was largely based on the fact that Days included a gay storyline. That is the story that the show’s ratings tell. You can’t force people to watch what they don’t want to watch, no matter how much you call them homophobic!

Harry, I agree with you, as always! “Stories are riveting and vets are back.” Exactly! The scenes are very well executed to maximize the suspense (in the serial killer storyline). And Bo’s return has been extremely well set up also.
I’m loving viewing the vets. And I had not followed Galen Gering as Rafe–but he is totally believable in his part–underplayed just right with an air of authority–and not bad to look at either–lol.
The music, the settings, the atmosphere, the tone–all working.
And give me some more Patch and Kayla! I love those two–and, guess what?–I truly believe that they will find their way back to each other! And that’s very satisfying to this long-time lover of the Patch and Kayla love story. Blow on that harmonica some more, Patch!

I don’t manipulate the numbers. I watched the numbers to see if what I thought was true. No one has to believe me about the truth that the ratings numbers tell. I am not at all offended by those who do not believe me. However I do challenge those persons to check it out for themselves.

There is a correlation between the decline in the ratings and the weeks when the gay storyline was prevalent. Ken Corday knows it too as reflected in what he alluded to in the Soap Opera Digest article where he discussed the change in head writers. It was also mentioned on soap opera news blogs that I am sure have a far different attitude about gay storylines on soaps than I do. So I am not making this up.

The numbers do not lie. Those who favored the gay storyline on Days were not strong enough in number to maintain good ratings for the show. That storyline put the show at risk of cancellation.

In general, the four Maj networks are having a hard time with the ratings because there is so much competition for viewers. Advertisers are not getting as much bang for their buck. So to have a network TV show that is getting low ratings is very serious.

Ken Corday was not going to allow Days to go down like that. So he took action and cut out what was not working with viewers. Front and center was the gay storyline. And the rest even up to and including the death of Will Horton is history.

All of the awards and recognitions Days received because of the gay storyline cannot be a substitute for good ratings. This head stuck in the sand refusal to see what happened is pitiful.

I suppose that the ratings boost could possibly be the powerful event that just happened in the ongoing, still-happening “gay” storyline coupled with the 50th anniversary and return of the vets as opposed to a return of all the soap-watching homophobes in America… but haters gonna hate, Gmbenet.

I just feel like DAYS put too much emphasis on the gay storylines and not enough emphasis on the other romances. Until the new writers came along, there have been NO couples I could get excited about. We saw Eric & Nicole, for instance, maybe once every two weeks. But the gays were on every day. Now they are putting more emphasis on “straight” romance and I’m watching again. I do feel, however, that it was a mistake to kill Will. Just as it was a mistake to kill EJ. Audiences want romance. If EJ and Sami were both leaving at the same time, why not let them leave together?! Same with Will and Sonny. Why not give the audience what they want? What’s wrong with making the fans happy? EJ & Sami’s fans were outraged at the way they were treated, and I fear Will & Sonny’s fans will be too.

Patch and Bo are coming back, John and Marlana are back on track, SAMI is coming back, and ” DAYS TURNS 50!” commercials are in 300 times a day on NBC. If they had 3/4 of the show in a gay bar with strippers, the ratings would still be up. It is also better writing, which says nothing, as my post so far has more excitement than DAYS in the past 6 months. The issue I have is literally the day the new writers took over (the day after Sonny left), the gay story disappeared almost instantly, only to return to see Will murdered, and Paul………is he still on? The new writers’s actions show they could care less about any gay characters, unless they can brutally murder one. My guess for Paul is he will be a cracked out Meth head with HIV, before he is brutally murdered. Because that’s how Josh & Dena roll.

EVERYBODY is entitled to their opinion. However I can tell that some of you do not pay attention to the ratings at all and do not notice what weeks are being reported on by Michael Fairman. No wonder you think I am just “hating” on gay storylines. (Obviously I am not in favor of them, but still…)

My point is you do not have a clue about what has happened with the show. RichInIowa, the “powerful event that just happened… gay storyline” you referred to is the murder of Will Horton. If so, the ratings for that week have not yet been reported. That is what I mean about not having a clue.

Even though you favor the gay storyline, and you are entitled to your likes and dislikes, you still do not know how well what you favor is doing in the ratings. The ratings help to determine whether or not what you favor will have a good chance to continue.

There will always be persons who favor and disfavor gay storylines on soaps. But whether or not those storylines continue on soaps will eventually come down to a BUSINESS decision based on the ratings, because the ratings pays the bills! That’s why it is important to monitor the ratings especially during the weeks when the gay storyline is at the forefront. That way you will not be surprised by the outcome.

Do I like the fact that the gay storyline did not do well in the ratings? Absolutely! But it could have been the other way too. Much opinion about having a gay storyline on Days meant nothing. I wrote to the show expressing my disappointed over the decision to make Will Horton gay when the decision was first reported. Did they listen to me and others besides me who felt the same way? No they didn’t. But now they have a measuring stick with which to determine the success or failure of their decision from a BUSINESS perspective. Individual personal opinions don’t matter.

Like I said before, some people will never accept the truth about the failure of the gay storyline from a business perspective. So be it. But that head in the sand attitude is still pitiful.

Who is Kim Davis and what does my gender have to do with my comments?

Nate, I don’t see Paul Narita dying from Meth and HIV. I see him going down in a plane crash while on a promotional tour for Mad World. Kate is such a go getter in business that she might keep him constantly on the go promoting Narita. I know Kate is pursuing Basic Black, but she does have the ability to walk and chew gum at the same time when it comes to business!

..cause a ignorant person said so!
lol, how about maybe the last writers at the time were so burnt out and they had no other stories to tell so they milked the crap out of the ‘gay’ storys!!! if what you re saying is true then really it was the gay storys that kept the show going!
… you should be thanking the gay story not being bitter about it!

Who exactly is the ignorant person and what are they ignorant about?

During the time the ratings tanked the storyline at the forefront was the gay storyline. So the writers were so burned out that all they could come up with was a gay storyline? Either way you look at it, the storyline failed. The gay storyline did not keep the show on the air. That storyline put the show in jeapordy.

Maybe it would help if you would do a little checking on your own so you can get the facts straight.

Hating the Corinthos saga, that will drag the show down

AGREE, Over it!!

All three of the Corintho brothers SUCK!

I love all the Corinthos !!
they are a core family, the only family with members larger than 2 lol
Really, the Corinthos are awesome and have never put me to sleep..
and the actors, all the actors of the Corinthos family are awesome, the best of actors, they bring it.

Hear hear!

Days has a killer of a storyline…hope Ben escapes Salem and arrives in Port Charles and knocks off half the cast…lol

LOL.. funny.. just the kill the Dillon, Maxie, LuLu and watchamacallit storyline.. BOOORRRINGGGG

so true!

Are you talking about this stupid movie thing, tim S? Yeah, I know what you mean. I just FF those scenes. This idiotic storyline has gone past a love triangle…..it is now a quadrangle. How droll, and childish. These couples are in their thirties. Gimme a break. If I fell for every guy who checked out my tail-bone, I’d be divorced ten times over…and, I’m not even thirty.
The only girl showing any kind of sense and sensibility is Emma.

Love it!

Did you notice that Nielsen box holders doesn’t watch GH live at the end of the week. That really hurts GH and wonder why. They know we only get ratings off of them…

hi moshane..
well, there are 4 soaps..
GH is the last one to aire..
Y&R and B&B are the first to be aired..
I’d imagine people can not spend more than an hour and half watching tv that time of day to watch the two that followed .. I don’t know anyone that could spend 4 hours during the day watching 4 live soaps..
or-
if fans watch 3 or 4 soaps by the time GH airs they must be tired from watching the other/first 3 soaps and worn out to watch the last, GH LOL ..

Of course the numbers are up.
Ratings go up and down, always.

Ohh geeezzz. this past week of GH was horrible.
Loooooong conversations, a lot of yakin that said not much of anything.
Half of a show was a go nowhere convo with Emma that was awful boring, reminded of the loooong boring speeches at Cassie’s gave, I was waiting for prop guy to walk through with Cassie’s headstone. the queens of snooze did not fail.
bwahaaa! ahaa! I had a good laugh..

The Sam & Jason breaking into Windermere was stupid and they just don’t fit any longer.
No sex che, no hidden spark, no hotness pull towards each other.
I can’t even picture them kissing, that would be like watching a brother and sister eeeesshhhh!

Lulu yellin’ at Dillon went on and on and on after the first two sentences, that said all that needed to be said, she went on and on for minutes after, she didn’t even take a breath I was waiting for her turn blue from lack of oxygen LOL!! that was overkill..

Laura the busy body biddy sticking her nose in people’s private business telling them what do was kookish like a Dingbat Dr. Phil… ahaaha!!

those are my observations, just a few good laughs watching the stodgy week.

ohhh Nikolas and Hayden are a great couple they don’t boringly yak yak yak their way through a scene they are interesting zing and fun. looking forward to Hayden ”getting even”
gotta love it 🙂

gee su, is that really you…you usually praise gh…now you sound like one of us bitch and moan complainers…lol

hey Jimh..
I didn’t complain, I had laughs over the sucky stuff ..
geez it was the 1st time it stunk lol
but still I Watched and had laughs over how bad it was, that can be fun too..

It would be great if Guzza came back!!
whoa.. Guzza and RC would be an awesome team..
but ain’t gonna happen.

Lol, jimh. Su, our girl, bitched and the skies did not fall, the mountains didn’t crumble and the hills didn’t turn to dust….and, the world did not stand still. Su, actually said GH stunk last week.
Oh, Su, you’re actually human like the rest of us…..teasing, babe. Luv-ya. Later.

I agree with you!! I used to love GH and it is BADDDD these days.. I can’t believe I am really enjoying Days again after allllll of these years.. .Amen!!!

If Dillon Spielberg had half a brain after Lulu flapped her gums I would have just said screw it, you get what you deserve, I’m casting Emily Blunt in my film! But seriously, move on bro!

I was actually encouraged to see Laura moving around town and putting her two cents in. She needs her own story but for now this isnt a bad way to get her feet wet and become her own women.

I love Hayden and Nick. FIRE! [Sorry Spenser!]

Yes, yes! Laura needs her own story! She seems to be giving GH the “moral center” that it has been lacking so long. Go, Genie–and Laura! More, please.

Wow, Days is doing very well, highest ratings in 7 months. I’m enjoying it, though Will’s murder was pretty hard to watch.

Great Writing. . It is okay to kill a main character…Was glad to see the risk taking they are taking… This will give Sweeney some great acting opportunities and maybe a daytime emmy!

Alison Sweeney can’t receive an Emmy because she is a returning guest. The Emmy rule for the Outstanding Guest category stipulates that it is for guests only, not returning guests.

I cant wait for Days to beat GH!

awww Mark 🙁
No soap should win over another because we could lose a soap and that would be tragic..
I never understood why some see the remaining 4 soaps in competition to win over another.
the soaps, no matter which one is someone’s luved soap and numbers be damned!
🙂

But competition is healthy and good for everyone.

I thought it would by now. GH is tanking. November cannot get her soon enough and they better have something in their tank to entertain us!

Timmm..
do you believe that Jean Passanante and Shelly Altman can do GH any good?
they will destroy more than save, they are not the right writers for GH, not at all.
the past week speaks volumes of their loooong conversations snooze writing..
GH needs Guzza back..
again; Jean Passanante and Shelly Altman are not a good match for GH.
they are a bad choice for GH, they do not belong with GH..

GENERAL HOSPITAL has slowly been improving. For once, I’m actually rooting for Sonny and Carly and Ava? I love that evil witch.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES on the other hand. Depressing. I can’t imagine people sticking around to watch this morose show. Celebrating 50 years by strangling beloved characters. Who wrote this garbage?!?

I disagree with you. The scenes are extremely well written and well played. And the show seems to be getting back to its “center.” Well done, Days. Keep up the good work.

Of course the ratings are going up– major stories are gearing up for November sweeps, this is best time to watching any soap and everything will slide back down after Thanksgiving.

I am looking forward to GH finally revealing Jake as Jason– I am hoping scenes with key players will have a bit more meat on them than when Robin came back from “dead”. I found under RC a lot of touching moments, where just that fleeting moments. I want to see a real scene with Monica and Jason, Jason and Sam, Jason and Carly, etc. not a rush job that just pans on shocked expressions and then everyone begins acting like this happens everyday— write reals scenes please.

On B&B, the Caroline/Ridge/Thomas story is the only thing holding me interest. I am so over the Steffy/Ivy feud and Liam/Wyatt sibling rivalry. Give Brooke a story, so sad she has been reduced to everyone’s sounding board, but has no story of her own. Where’s RJ in all this? SORAS him if you must, but at least get him on the canvas. Nicole being Miya’s surrogate — that’s going end well — NOT. And get Heather Tom back into the thick of things– Katie should open a fashion house to compete with Forresters’s. Do anything else other than force me to watch Steffy and Ivy bicker will be heaven to me.

On Y&R, wish the endless nightmare of the Winter’s family story would end soon. This has to be one of lamest stories I’ve ever seen on any soap– and that is saying a lot, since I’ve seen a lot of lame things over the years.

Days is definitely getting better to look at visually– the use of lighting has been beautiful and fitting the scenes– like the Adrienne opening her report in a very darkened living room- that was stunning. Story wise, it still a bit uneven– I’m mean come on, those people were torturing Bo for three years to find out what Victor was working on– are we suppose to buy that? If Bo was being tortured as badly as it look, for three years, he would have been dead–and you would think after a year or so these “bad guys” would clue in and accept Bo wouldn’t spill the beans— and just kill him. I hope there is more to the story, because right now not impressed with it.

The worst Y&R story was the music box fiasco! Well, “Crazy Neil” is challenging THAT disaster with his abduction of Hillary! Ironically, the great Tristan Rogers is tied to both of these clunkers! Back to GH Tristan, PLEASE!

The music box was up there all right, but I think what killed that story line was changing writers twice in the middle of it– it was one of those stories a head writer inherited, didn’t know what the original writer intended, so they change it mid stream, then another writer comes in the middle of that, and changes it again– so it made no sense and everyone was confused–. I would love to chat with Josh Griffith and find out what he had planned for that poor music box, that and who did he originally planned to be Delia hit and run driver— But the lamest of Neil’s story has no ex writer baggage to blame it on, this story was planned to be this way, which is why in my books makes it one of lamest stories ever.

Oh, my, oh, my, 3-M Tim. What a ‘coinkydink ‘ that Colin is mixed up in the most ridiculous storylines ever written in Y&R history ( well, let’s not forget Marco,/Bruno, LOL). Luv-ya.

Mary SF,
I, too, noticed the lighting. Well done. In fact, Days seems to be doing everything well these days. The young man who plays Chad is great as well as the young actress playing the woman he loves and is now with Ben, the killer. They’ve even done interesting things with Ben–for instance, the nightmares he had after killing Ben were extremely well done and effective. And I love the idea that Caroline is “having visions” of Bo–adds just the right touch and “shade” and another dimension to Bo’s eventual return–just in time for the 50th anniversary celebration. Nothing really sensational and overdone about Days these days. Again, give us more, Days! I look forward to it each day now.

I agree! You took the words right out of my mouth!!! 🙂

Nice bounce back for Y&R. There might even be more of a bounce after last week’s tremendous payoff on the long awaited Adam reveal and fallout. The acting was top notch and a big thumbs up to JFP, Chuck Pratt, and his writing crew for giving this longtime Y&R fan some great soap to watch.

hey Mr. X..
Pratt is bringing it !!
Y&R has greatly improved since the firing of head writers Jean and Shelly (new GH head writes writers) and bringing in Pratt has brought Y&R up..
Y&R has been really good and I haven’t fallen asleep since Pratt has taken over..

Is this su0000 Pratt? No kidding, I like what Charles has done. I remember before he got there Y&R was in total shambles! Word is he has another big tragedy planned for November sweeps! I heard it will keep us in “STITCHes!”

Me too!!
sad thing is- the 2 writers that wrote Y&R into its boring shambles are now GH’s head writers, Jean and Shelly. yawn….
those two do not fit with GH, a bad matchup for GH. they are the worst writers for GH that could have brought in..
Y&R did well firing them …

Ratings are up and thats good for soaps in general BUT they should be up on Y&R because Adam finally came forward BUT how GH gained numbers I’ll never know! I think these last two weeks on GH have been the worst in years! Not ONE story has picked up any momentum! I bet you in two weeks, ten hours total air time, I probably watched a total of five hours and THATS being generous! Lets go GH, flesh out Jason, bring Monica into the picture and bring Scorpio back to go head to head with Paul Hornsby!

hi Timmm..
You made me laugh saying-
” I think these last two weeks on GH have been the worst in years!”

I, me! just posted sorta the same, and I never ever am not luvin my GH, but last week stunk peeeuuuu!!
it is just a preview of the snooze queens at work, especially the last week, good grief!.. LOL 🙂
Hope they don’t do a ”Music Box” story ahaa!!

LOL… I love Ceec’ remark… that you are humane

nuff of that… we need you on the front lines

SOAPBOX : Marquee…. MF’ thread : “General Hospital: Laura ponders… ”

“…This week marked the first airshows under new GH co head-writers: Jean Passanante and Shelly Altman. ”

here we go
fasten your seatbelts

I hope beyond hope… that the less Corinthos’ we see… the better. along with less Sam… and Alexis, and the trio of Dillan, Maxie, and Lulu. woah!

I have that music box, su. Someone mailed it to me. I don’t know what to do with it. LOL.
Whatever happened with that storyline, anyway? I don’t remember. Was the mystery solved? It was so dumb, everything about that storyline escapes me.

Hin CeeCee.. Jean and Shelly

”music box” story went on for a year and still has not had closure..
it will go down in soap history as worst story, ever!
BURN THE BOX!!! do not them bring it into GH ..

Agreed on the GH notions, Timmm! I have been taking a “timeout” from the show, but remain up-to-date with daily recaps and visits to MFSoaps….I keep hoping that something, ANYTHING!….will lure me back to the viewing habit. (Probably the early November reveal of Jason at his wedding to Liz….) Returning Robert Scorpio to the fold would definitely be one thing, as would a most welcome drop-in from none other than Frisco Jones!!!! Both are great legacy characters who would fit in really well with the Paul Hornsby storyline, which is the ONE right thing GH has done since Luke’s welcome departure…..Richard Burgi is an absolute gift to the Port Charles canvas…..the show needed a dashing, debonair—yet diabolically devious—villain, and they certainly found him!!!! Now, if they could just shift the attention from the hopelessly banal newbies to the seasoned vets, then things would really get rolling!

100 percent agree with you Shayster!

Ratings, geez, what to make of them, i only watch Gh, watch it all my life, seen it be great and bad, and still not ever giving up watching, i have never really seen a full episode of BB or Y&R both shows clearly have viewers that stay loyal since they both have the better numbers and i use to watch cool as a kid, so i know most of their legacy characters but i’m giving it a shot because of their 50th annivers coming up, but i have to say, i’m not really impress, i don’t see the family/heart crap people keep mentioning and this thing people keep saying about cool overthrowing GH out of its #3 spot i just don’t see it. who is Dool current must see couple? all the original super couples are all broken up. theres a serial killer thats killed two characters no one cared about, and one legacy “will” by the time he was born i had stopped watching Dool, so i’m not familiar with his story, but i know he broke ground in daytime, but he had no fight in him, his grandma marlena gave the serial killer more of a fight then he did.

“No fight in him”… Really?

Sorry, but I’m upset with your comment which implies Will was weak or the murder sequence was week…I’ve seen a few comments at a few sites which indicates some viewers did not fully comprehend the sequence of events.

Will didn’t realize he needed to put up a fight until it was too late.

Ben struck first with slamming Will against the refrigerator. It was clear that Will’s head violently struck the frige, which rendoeed him unconscious. He then awakened with Ben already strangling him.

The blow to the head caused a concussion at the very least. When he awakened he was dizzy and uncoordinated from the head injury and strangulation already in progress.

The fight was one-sided because Will didn’t have a chance to fight back.

*which rendered him unconscious.

Oh, my gosh, 4ever. My heart was pounding….poor Will. When Ben literally threw Will with such force that the refrigerator door opened, I shut my eyes and peeked with one eye semi-opened. That scene was impossibly realistic….impressive. It looked so real. Poor Will was stunned. How could he possibly defend himself against a crazy man. A criminally insane person who derives extreme gratification from killing, gains superhuman strength because just the thought of killing makes the adrenalin kick in…..I read that somewhere. I can’t remember in what context. It’s the same as when a parent, ‘they’ say, can lift a car to save her/his child from under it. Sorry, 4ever, my friend….I sound like I’m preaching.
All I can say is, it was a hard scene to watch….so very cruel!

I didn’t even watch Friday’s episode because I knew what was going to happen. Do they have to be so graphic?!

I, for one, Aria, so not watch Y& R because of the ratings. I watch it because I have been since I was a tween. ….nothing to do with ratings. I love it, whether I disagree with the storyline or not. The same goes for days. I grew up with the soap. But, it hasn’t been for the last 7-8 years that I have really gotten into a Days. So, please do not generalize by assuming what you will. I disagree with that, with all due respect.

Noiced with ratings GH is not doing well in older viewers, 34 and over. Maybe they don’t care about that demo. But for me, Need the people that made me watch years agon at least once in a while. Lucy, (how about bringing in her kids instead of more Sonny, et.all) and Anna and jRobert back as a “team’ not necesairly romantic. Yes, Frisco back to complicate even if not romantically Fellica, Maxie’s life (never lliked Mac, don’t care what they do with him—he can stay off screen for me.) . Perhaps he can romance Laura, or a returned Jenny. More scott and what is his future, not to mention more Bobbie and some interaction with Her son and other relatiives. remenber how she and laura never got along? Bring her in with Nic.j
That is what I would like and make me watch again, but lilke I said maybe GH doesn’t care and today’s audience is happy with the emphasis where iit is now…franco, Kiki, ava, sonny, whatever…
If the ratings work with those characters and they may yet, I and those like me, are just out of luck.

I’m with you, I’ve been loving DAYS lately but most days I just skip GH. I’d love it if GH would do what DAYS is doing right now. Bring back the characters we love and backburn the newbies who, I FF through all the ones you mentioned, Franco, Kiki, Ava, Sonny & ALL his spawn, nuDillon, Valerie, who cares?! I want to see the “good guys”, the ones who actually have HISTORY on this show!

Your comment regarding Will’s graphic death doesn’t have a reply option, so I’m replying here:

I think it was important to show Will’s death in detail in real time due to being a core character and being extra special to many viewers. Plus, viewers had to see how Ben managed to overtake Will. Unfortunately, some viewers still couldn’t understand why Will didn’t fight back…Ben had the upper hand because Will wasn’t exactly aware of the time bomb about to go off. It was quick and hard resulting in head, neck and back injuries…nocked out cold…and waking up with strangulation already in progress.

*Knocked out.

I started watching B&B a few years ago. Probably about 2 or so years after All My Children ended. I seen Jacob Young was on the show and now I’m happy they have Thorsten Kaye. 🙂 I started watching Y&R because October 16th, Michael Knight (Tad from AMC) will be on the show. I started watching Days of Our Lives because at some point Vincent Irizarry (Dr. David Hayward from All My Children) will be on the show. So, only reason I watch other soaps is because of my previous family members.

That is exactly what I am doing! The only thing to add for me is that I will never watch ABC anything. GH could add Susan Lucci and I would not watch! Y&R also has Cliff and Chelsea from AMC. If AMC actors go away, I do too. Love seeing Michael K and can’t wait to see Vincent I!

Kristian Alfonso Returns to Days of our Lives for Tribute to The Late Bill Hayes

After a few weeks of Days of our Lives fans being upset that Kristian Alfonso (Hope Williams) was not on the first list of initial returns for Doug Williams’ funeral and episodes honoring his portrayer, the late Bill Hayes, comes word that the popular star is back and taping scenes.

Kristian reported to work on the Peacock streaming soap opera on Monday, April 22nd. She shared how important it is for her to be back for this particular return to the show that made her a household name.

“My return is very bittersweet,” Alfonso told TV Insider,  “because it is the end of an era with Bill gone. So to return to Days is very sad. I am appreciative that they came to me to include me in their series of shows honoring Doug and I’m very happy to see everyone, but I’m entering the studio with a heavy heart.”

It was back in 1983 that Kristian first debuted as Doug’s daughter, and now 41 years later looking back at it, and her time with Bill Hayes is very emotional for her.

“I remember my first scenes with him/ He was very loving, very welcoming. That he was very talented and an incredible actor and an icon, that all goes without saying, but my personal relationship and my working relationship with Bill, it was home,” expressed Alfonso. “Doing the scenes with Bill, I felt like I was with my dad because there was so much warmth and reality.”

Alfonso did express some deep regret, in that she had wanted to work with Bill Hayes during her last appearance on the soap back in 2023, but according to the iconic actress, there was something in the works but it never materialized.  “I’m sad that I did not get the opportunity to do the storyline that Ron (Carlivati, head writer) had planned/ It was great; we returned to Salem to reunite with our families and I would have had father/daughter scenes with Billy. What Ron had written was beautiful and emotional and it was a fantastic story. I was 100 percent for it and the fans would have loved it.”

As for if Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope will be back on-screen together anytime soon, Kristian would only say, “What I will say is don’t give up hope.” Doug’s passing and memorial episodes will stream later this year come late November into December.

So, are you happy to learn that Kristian Alfonso is back taping episodes surrounding Doug’s memorial episodes? Comment below.
