RATINGS: B&B Ties Y&R in Key Demos
The ratings are out for the week of July 4th-8th, and while all four daytime soaps were partially preempted, or fully preempted on Monday, the race for the top spots in key demos is now neck and neck between CBS daytime’s The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless.
While The Young and the Restless remains at number one in total viewers, B&B is just 303,000 behind, and the two sister soaps have now tied in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos.
The Bold and the Beautiful continues to draw viewer interested with: Sheila holding a very much alive Finn hostage, a Brooke and Ridge reconciliation, and more. In addition, B&B gained 104,000 viewers for the week and is slightly up year-to-year from 2021.
Over at The Young and the Restless, the series showed gains of 64,000 total viewers for the week, and also remained slightly up in viewer count year-to-year. Y&R has been featuring the Ashland Locke/Victoria Newman saga, and a new revenge plot with Adam and Ashland joining forces.

So, what do you think of The Bold and the Beautiful tying The Young and the Restless in major demos? Share your thoughts on the two shows and if you are enjoying them … or you think they need improvement. And if they need improvement, what changes would you make to the storylines? Comment below.
I’m not surprised. Bold and The Beautiful is way better then Young and The Useless. Someone please fire Josh Griffith and put a Bell in charge. Watching old clips from 90s and early 2000s compared to todays drivel it’s such a stark contrast. How long until CBS wakes up and hires new blood for this show . I can’t stand Billy’s podcast , Abby , Mariah , Devon , Michael and that hair . Christian Leblanc is a cheesy overrated actor . They should have a serial killer storyline to get rid of some truly pathetic characters .
They need GINA T back as Phyllis that for damn sure! Sorry Josh Griffith you are awful. You fired Gina someone needs to fire your butt! Like Yesterday
Lolll
I agree with everything you wrote. From Griffith to the characters as well as especially how bad Christian LeBlancs become. I thought Griffith was merely a filler until a real writer came but this is sad. The show needs a major overhaul and a return to the real Y n R, lush sets and classic background music. The show looks, sounds and feels cheap
So cheap ! The whole show is just a mess. I turn it on for 5 minutes and that’s all I can handle. It wouldn’t be hard for them to make it good again , just follow the Bell formula. Classic music , character driven stories , better sets . And how many companies does one show need , and the amount of CEOs, COOs , running around . They should have three companies and have them compete. I suspect this show will plummet even further in the ratings and sometimes that what I think CBS wants . At this point they should make Bold and The Beautiful a full hour and take some Young and the Restless characters over to their show.
I love Michael’s hair and he’s not cheesy!!! Aren’t opinions wonderful? I agree with you about the podcast.; not so much the podcast ; Billy.
Michael and Phyllis s characters have become cartoon versions of the Bell days when they were conflicted, evil but driven by love and revenge. Now Phyllis’s screams in every scene and runs a Ikea looking hotel when she was once a I.T expert . She should be mixing it up at one of the 100s of businesses Griffith has branched out of the three major ones. Michael was one mean nasty lawyer and now he’s the town crier smiling ear to ear as Victor’s lil errand boy while poor Lauren has s hissy fit and storms off. She also used to be the boss back in Bell days. Don’t get me started on Aunt Jack. Sharon’s still pouring coffee when she has her therapist license she could team up with Nick and give services to New Hope but instead Nick ran to go he daddy’s lil bitch. Nate s now a business tycoon and Lily’s a ceo. Nikki the ranch florist is a c.o.o. Billy’s running a podcast. Jabot offices with it’s two employees Jack and Mariah hasnt been shown in a year. The way these characters are written would be laughable if it weren’t so sad . All these characters do is talk about job hopping. I feel like I’m enrolled in a human resources program for dummies
Don’t know who you are but I agree with everything you said! What is up with LeBlanc?? He’s acting like he’s already on stage and every scene is life or death. And Phyllis is literally a cartoon. AND has the worst outfits. Ridiculous
Noah is completely wasted. Allie is boring and looks like she’s twelve compared to Noah. The Nate / Imani thing is stupid Mariah has a job??
Thank God for Ashland !
Michael
I agree with your whole comment, especially Phyllis and M.Baldwin. I think he’s going through a mid-life crises, and Phyllis , I think someone in the wardrobe dept. hates her, who would dress like she does to go to the park? Now, I like Sharon but am sick of seeing this coffee shop lady all glitzed up serving coffee and mental health advice to whoever walks in the door plus being a helicopter mom to her kids. Every time poor Noah walks in the door I expect her to run up to him, saying, did you have a B.M today dear? And someone please get Jack a lady friend. We just know when Diane moves in, it’s all over for him, poor guy.
Oh Violet, if someone had dressed like Phyllis in public when I was young, she’d be arrested for indecent exposure! And how about Victoria swanning around the office with a waist-high slit up the side of her dress? I’ve worked with high-positioned women all my life and never witnessed this! And yes, Sharon is being wasted; she’s become the Nancy Hughes (from AS THE WORLD TURNS) of the show — serving coffee and being Genoa City’s answer to DEAR ABBY.
Soaphound
OMG, these women! I think the only thing good I can say about Diane is at least she does dress in good taste. Maybe that will change when she goes to work for Kyle and Summer.Gabi is another one as she struts her voluptuous body around whatever company she’s haunting at the time.
Boop
Gee, I was just going to agree with everything you wrote on another post about Vickie and Ashland, the pot and Frying Pan thing. While I like Victor too, Iam sick of him always getting his own way while his snooty wife’s nose just goes up higher and higher. As far as Michael’s hair, I don’t have words to describe it, plus he looks and acts inebriated most times. I miss your Posts, I usually agree with them, as I do with just about everything you wrote on the other post. I’ve tried to hate Aston and rationalize the stuff he’s done but I keep thinking of who he was dealing with. I’ve never been a big fan of Adam’s, so am not sure if I want them hooking up together.
Thanks for your post! I was just talking about Nikki last night to my mother; I said the same thing about her snooty nose while I watched her in the park when she and Michael accosted Ashland. It good to know that I was missed! Until the next time!
Well the Emmys proved to me there is little competition today
Let’s call a spade a spade. Viewers are tuning in to B&B to see what Sheila will do next; the same way they tuned in in 1992 when she first crossed over and propelled B&B to number two in the ratings:) all those years with her off canvas was a mistake.
Joel , I agree with you about Sheila! I am wondering what’s next after Sheila’s gone ; hopefully, the writers will come up with something exciting.
I am loving Young and the Restless as long as the writers allow Ashland Locke to show some power! It never made sense to have him play a weak minded powerful man without any knowledge of what Victoria was doing ; however , I’ll give him a small break because I believe that he truly fell for Victoria. Nevertheless, the writers should have had a plan B for Ashland just in case the expected happened ; what Victoria did. Another peeve that I have with the writers is that Kyle was allowed to take Ashland’s son without a fight. As powerful as Ashland was /is , there should have been a battle for his son! That whole scenario with Ashland’s ex , the son , and Ashland was terrible writing which wouldn’t have happened in reality ! Powerful people make powerful plays!! Kyle should never have gotten Harrison unless he was as powerful as Michael Corleone in the Godfather which means that Ashland should have received custody without a court battle! Don’t write Ashland out of the Show without him making a power play along with the help of Adam. Keep Ashland around for a while to add more dynamite to the Show! Also, even though I love Victor , he needs a worthy opponent or two : that means that I want Adam to join Ashland in this war of titans because I don’t like how Victor did Adam . LET THE WAR BEGIN!!!
P.S. POOR DIANE!!!
I have B&B from day one, but I can’t stand another minute of Brooke and Ridge. The word “destiny” makes me cringe. Why Brad Bell can’t realize that legacy characters can move on without keeping super couples together is beyond me. Just look at Luke and Laura who moved on to healthy, fun relationships with other characters and away from each other and the show has survived. People change and grow and Brooke and Ridge need to do the same.
Shari
You are so right. I’m so sick of Ridge and Brookie, I don’t know how they even stand each other and Brook right now, putting up with Ridge’s crap with Taylor, leaving his wife and home just because he despises his step-daughter’s father. I would have told him long ago to take a hike. Neither woman has any pride or taste in men. Maybe, it’s Bells taste in women because come to think of it, the only one I can really take is Traci.
Shari
Was doing this reply when the phone rang and don’t remember if I posted it. Was agreeing about Bell’s destiny couples. I can’t stand Brook and Ridge, together or apart.Brooke has no pride or dignity, Taylor either the way she takes Ridge back, after every woman he’s with, Taylor, that friend of Quinn’s from Vegas, the little hanky panky he had with Quin when she first married Eric. I think it’s Mr.Bell’s fault that he has a thing for the wrong women.
People can hate on bold but the Sheila storyline is on fire. Yand r has its moments but is definitely a slow move at times regardless of what anyone says I still say days is consistent and always enjoyable. I can understand the bold and beautiful increase I see at restless they are trying the same thing with Diane Jenkins only Kyle and summer are acting like 2 fools as is Jack and I am sorry but Victoria is an ice princess Devon is a bore and Michael’s mad scientist hair is a no go
Richard
I agree on most things especially your comment on Kyle and nuSummer who is bugging me lately trying to keep the peace between Phyllis and Diane and still stay on Kyle’s side. Funny, they never show her with Harrison. A million yesses on Michael’s hair.Is he making a statement, would l8ke to see some of them here.
Michael’s allowing the natural gray to show . what we’re seeing now usually occurs when a person has dyed his/her hair for years and stops dyeing it, the gray comes forth with full impact! I had some friends to do that . I’m loving it!
This doesn’t surprise me…Y&R is almost unwatchable with the exception of the Diane Jenkins storyline. Before they brought her back, the show was a total clunker but unfortunately, having this character back isn’t enough to make the show as good as it once was. B&B on the other hand, played the right cards when they brought Sheila back. It will be interesting to see if she gets out of the trouble she’s already in but because we love to watch her psycho antics, we’ll take her for as long as we can have her.And that’s how B&B tied Y&R in the ratings.
Y n R is Sheila’s original home and I don’t know what’s taken it sooo long for her to return. Bring Sheila back to raise hell. It’s a no brainer for ratings. Lauren, Michael ,Paul , Cricket need a Sheila go round. Maybe Sheila can go to jail and get her Lawyer license and force Michael and Christine to deal with her. I would go further and say recaset Abby finally with a capable actress. Toss Tessa and Mariah and Noah out and bring back Fenn and Anna as played by the last actors to play out the young love scenes and to make room and budget for the vets to return. Worse case Michelle Stafford needs a lil break from the screeching. We need to show the Baldwin’s some love. Bonus their living room set back and a law office!
I agree about Diane; however, if the show would allow her , Ashland , and Adam to interact to stir the mix : WOW!!
CBS promo of “Some Like It Hot” is clearly for B&B! Also liked the “Bold is Back” promos from last year better. I predict that the show will pass Y&R in overall ratings as long as the show focuses on crazy Sheila and her antics. Can’t wait for the reunion of Finn and Steffy. Brooke and Ridge are back together with Deacon on the prowl. Eric finally moved on from Quinn. And give Katie and Dollar Bill a front and center storyline. Need a good location shoot too. Don’t watch Y&R to suggest any changes.
Now my 3am thoughts…Since Finn can still be alive, hoping his other mom, Li, somehow survived her underwater car crash and comes back with a vengeance to confront Sheila. And then there is Finn’s real dad, Jack. Brooke and Ridge have become big yawn for me. And I most always like Quinn. Loved how she bicycled to just get to the church on time to break up April and Carter’s wedding. Eric is a great hypocritical disappointment. As for Y&R…can’t stand Victoria, or how she, Victor and the rest of the family treat Adam. I’m ready to see Ashland gone, except maybe some final “farewells” to Victoria. Not that I condone what he did to her, but she is such a “b” in payback. Fast forward Diane and stupid Kyle and Summer. Go for it Phyliss. And now Billy and Chelsea?…ugh! And while GH isn’t included in this story, wish I had more likes on all of these soaps.
I definitely agree about the treatment or Adam ; plus , I don’t care about any of the Newmans except Victor and Adam ; however , at the present I want him to have a serious foe! The writers could use Ashland as serious competition instead of writing him out of the show! Allow Ashland to become the Sheila for this show!!!! COME ON JOSH!!!
Boop
Hi again. I’ve seriously wondered over the years if Eric Braeden had it put in his contract that no one will ever get the best of him in any SL?
It gets a little boring to always see him patting himself on the back. Seems like the only thing he’s never been able to win out on is getting his kids all on the same side and yet he can’t ir doesn’t want to stop the competition between them all. I’ve been waiting for that twit Abby to get wind of all this.
I don’t know if Eric did that ; however ,it is a thought. Regardless – I want some true competition on the Show ; even if it’s within the family!!!
Violet, can you imagine if Abby took a break from stroking Chance’s hair and wanted back in Newman Enterprises? Queen Vic would have to find a job for her that was WAAAYYYY subordinate to her own AND bigger than she would ever allow Adam to even sniff at. Must be hard being the “Big Cheese”; in Victoria’s case it’s Limburger.
Soaphound
Oh, you noticed the slit up Vicki’s leg to her belly-button?
She is something else and am wondering why they would be bringing her kids home at this point? Just reaching here but maybe Chelsea will talk Billy into letting Johnny spend time with Connor, seeing as how they are brothers, he said no, the last time she asked, he said no and I know Victoria would never agree to that.
Not surprised, Y&R storylines are in the toilet and have been for awhile now.
Sheila keeps my interest. Love, Taylor.
I don’t get the Lily CEO storyline. She was a dancer and model, and now is this all amazing CEO… all of the sudden.
To top that feat, Devon who has been successful in the business world, he wouldn’t let his unexpetienced sister run his company, It doesn’t make any sense?? She also tells Billt what to do when he has been an executive for years??
I know, Cindy, it’s really stretching believability. Has she ever even had a business class? And yet, we have Queen Victoria questioning Sally’s ability to run Newman Media when she’s (a) already been co-running it with Adam and (b) ran a fashion company in L.A.! Talk about mixed messages. Lily had better schedule some “looking over her own shoulder” time because Chelsea is on the prowl again.
Soaphound
We forget that when Lily was in prison she did something with ex- prisoners, teaching them how to lead better lives on the outside. Maybe she learned something herself. No one was more surprise than me when Jill came to her and practically handed over her company, and having Billy work for HER . Oh yes, Chelsea is bad news, always has been as far as Iam concerned.
Soaphound/Violet – Yes, and she was in jail for murdering Hilary, technically Manslaughter which is a felony. I could see her as a Director of Marketing or something, but a convicted felon is a CEO is a major stretch???
I just learned that Christain LeBlanc is performing in Fidler On The Roof, so a lot of us owe him an apology for criticizing his new hairstyle.

‘Brilliant Minds’ Officially Canceled After 2 Seasons at NBC; DAYS Alum Al Calderon, OLTL Alum Teddy Sears and Zachary Quinto Among the Cast
After languishing on the bubble for months, on Friday, NBC handed down the decision and canceled the medical drama Brilliant Minds after two seasons.
Brilliant Minds stars Zachary Quinto as neurology physician Oliver Wolf, who’s character and the series is inspired by the life and books of neurologist. Oliver Sacks. The series focuses on the medical mysteries of the mind, as Wolf a larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns explore the last great frontier, the human mind, while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.
The final six episodes of what will now be the end of its second and final season were already set to air beginning on May 27, after being pulled off the network schedule in February as viewership saw a steep decline. Brilliant Minds second season became the lowest-rated drama on linear TV viewing, which didn’t bode well fo a network renewal, although it had its hard core fan base.

There are some exceptional notables in the cast along with the talented Quinto that includes Days of Our Lives alum, Al Calderon (ex-Javi Hernandez) who joined the series in its second season as Nurse Nico Silva, and One Life to Live alum, Teddy Sears (ex-Chad Bennett) who plays Wolf’s love interest and fellow physician, Dr. Josh Nichols.
The rest of the talented cast includes: Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Donna Murphy, John Clarence Stewart, and Brian Altemus.
In an ironic twist of fate on Thursday, April 30, Days of Our Lives finally revealed the actor who was Al Calderon’s successor in the role of Javi, when they announced that actor Jacob Martinez had now stepped into the role. Since DAYS tapes ten months ahead of streaming new episode, Calderon left in the spring of 2025, but will be seen in the part for the final part this month, and then on June 20, Martinez debuts as Salem’s new Javi.
Taking to his Instagram with a sorrowful and heartfelt post on the Brilliant Minds cancellation was Teddy Sears who wrote, “Thank you, Brilliant Minds. I got the call today and I didn’t want to hear, but I knew that it would come, You have to be a particular vintage to quote Don Henley from memory, but that’s the line that came to mind earlier today after I got off the phone with our inimitable showrunner Michael Grassi who delivered the news that NBC has cancelled the series”.

Photo: NBC
Sears continued, “To say that I feel sad to be moving on from these stories, this character, and this cast and crew just doesn’t paint the entire picture. I’m sad, sure. But I’m also deeply grateful that I got hired to play this part, so proud of the stories we told, and the other actors I got to play alongside. I’m excited to see what comes next, what adventures await, and terrified to be without a professional home. A quick and heartfelt thank you to everyone, all over the globe, who found us and found themselves in us, in our characters and in our stories. We wouldn’t have been able to tell them without you. And we still have 6 fresh episodes yet to air, and I do hope you tune in enjoy the remainder of the series. They’re the best we’ve done.”
As he wrapped up his sentiments, Sears signed off with, “The more I know, the less I understand. All the things I figured out I have to learn again. I’ve been trying to get down to the heart of the matter. But everything changes…Thank you, Brilliant Minds.”
The medical drama was created and executive produced by Michael Grassi alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Jasmine Russ, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis and Shefali Malhoutra.

Taking to his Instagram to celebrate the nominations, GH’s Bennett, enthused, “3 Critic Choice Nominations! I’m so proud of the FINDING MR CHRISTMAS and to be in the company of all the legends in all these categories is so surreal! Congrats to Hallmark Channel and to our nominated cast and nominated show and everyone who made this magical show possible. This is crazy! This gives FMC 6 Critics Choice nominations in 2 years. Not bad for a little show on Hallmark Channel. What are your thoughts on our show?” Jumping first into the comment thread was one of his new GH co-stars, Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) who expressed, “Yeah buddy!!!🔥🔥”
In the series, Bennett, the host and co-creator spends eight weeks guiding 10 aspiring actors through a series of “festive face-offs” and acting challenges alongside actors like soap opera notables, Hunter King (ex-Summer, Y&R) and Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS). Along the way, they develop their skills and a bond with one another. The show, which is available on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Plus, highlights LGBTQ+ representation with openly gay contestants vying to be the next Hallmark star.
It should be noted that Traitors received the most Critics Choice Real TV Award nominations with 6 nods, followed by Dancing with the Stars with 4.
Bennett is very familiar to daytime fans having started his career as JR Chandler on All My Children in 2000-2001, before landing the part of Aaron Samuels in the motion picture, Mean Girls in 2004 starring Lindsay Lohan, which would become his breakout performance.

‘General Hospital’s’ Kelly Thiebaud on Britt and Cassius Sibling Drama, But Who Will Ultimately Blow His Cover?
On the April 30 episode of General Hospital, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) had some choice words and warning for her brother Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) who has been masquerading as his twin, the very dead, Nathan West.
As the story has unfolded, viewers learned that Britt knew all along that when “Nathan” showed up in Port Charles seemingly resurrected with a missing 7 years of his life unexplained, that Cassius was taking his place.
Now in developments on today’s GH, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is figuring out that this guy pretending to be Nathan is someone else, and Cassius learns from Britt, that Joss is not just a ditzy sorority girl as he claimed, but a WSB agent! The moment stuns Cassius. Are the walls about to close in on him and his charade?

Courtesy/ABC
Daytime Emmy winner, Kelly Thiebaud spoke to Soap Opera Digest, about the story point and getting the opportunity this time back at GH to work with Ryan Paevey, when she hadn’t had the chance to before.
BROTHERLY LOVE?
Thiebaud expressed on sharing scenes with Ryan Paevey, “It’s just been so wonderful to have him back and to actually work with him! When he first came onto the show (as Nathan at the end of 2013) I was kind of heading out — it was right towards the end of my contract, so we didn’t actually work together a ton. It’s been really refreshing and so much fun to really spend time together and get to know each other and work together. I think we have really great on-camera chemistry and banter with each other. I really enjoy working with him.”
With the stakes at an all-time, Thiebaud explained how she views her on-screen alter-ego’s involvement with her more hot-to-temper sibling and why Britt revealed the truth about Josslyn to him. “People finding out about Cassius would expose what she’s involved in and what she agreed to do,” explains Kelly “And now Josslyn is digging around, and she’s connected to Carly (Laura Wright) to Jason (Steve Burton) and that whole dynamic! It’s messy!”
BRITT’S MURKY FUTURE
Britt has currently also reached her breaking point with Jason being carted away by the WSB, Rocco (Finn Carr), the child she gave birth to, shooting Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) to protect her and Jason, Marco (Adrian Anchondo) being killed after trying to help her, and Cullum holding over her head getting her Huntington’s disease medication to control her symptoms, while blackmailing her into finishing the research on her father, Cesar Faison’s, final project. Thiebaud summed it up best for Britt right now, sharing, “It’s been a really tough time for her.”
So, who do you think will be the person to blow Cassius’ cover? Will it be Britt herself? Josslyn? Liesl? Brennan? Nina? Lulu? Rocco, Maxie, Cullum or someone else? Let us know your pick in the comment section.
