RATINGS : Good Week For General Hospital and Days of our Lives!
The ratings are out for the week of August 19-23rd and it was a good week for the third and fourth place, General Hospital and Days of our Lives. GH continued its upswing and added another+75,000 in total viewers, while DAYS added the most viewers of the week adding +100,000 total viewers.
Meanwhile, The Young and the Restless took a hit in the key 18-49 female demo hitting tying all-time low in the rating/share. Y&R also lost -57,000 in total viewers.
The Bold and the Beautiful also lost during the ratings week the most number of total viewers losing -92,000, but remaining strong in second place among all the network soap operas. You can check out the whole ratings picture courtesy of SON by clicking here!

Although I don’t really like or enjoy any of the current GH stories, I can see why the ratings are good. Ron Carlivati has been doing a very good job at day to day suspense and forcing the viewers to “tune in tomorrow”. I don’t like Sonny or stories where he is made to look like a hero. But we are getting that in large doses. I don’t like mob stories…but here we are with a canvas full of mobsters…new , old and returning. I don’t like that AJ is being made out as whipping boy and town pariah. It kind of worked with Billy Warlock in the role due to his height and little boy quality but Sean Kanan is a man, built like a refrigerator, and he could take greasy thug Sonny down any time. Sonny is only a big powerful man with a gun in his hand. I don’t like sick children stories…here we are in the middle of yet ANOTHER one with little Danny. So basically I don’t like or enjoy any of the major stories. However there is enough I do like to keep me watching. I don’t agree with many of Ron’s choices and stories…but he is a master at interweaving stories, and building stories so viewers are taken on an excitng ride.
I am enjoying all the current stories on GH…..I have no complaints..
I agree with you on AJ. I’ve been saying on many posts that I LOVE AJ! Frustrates me that half the town belittles him and they have committed individually as well as colllectively more harm than he’s ever done. Buts the shite outta me!

Seriously , How could you not like any GH storylines right now? I knew that once Ron C and Frank V refused to be held hostage by PP, it would be on and crackin. I am so happy that the writing team is moving right along. Sonny is the best. He hasn’t acted this well in a few years.. Granted, he is off his meds, but MB is doing an excellent job . However, I agree about AJ being too buff to be constantly bullied. He does have panic attacks and self estem issues as well, so until he can get those things in check , he will continue to be that trainwreck. You have to admit Michael ‘s fast talking trying to stop one Dad from killing another Dad was so compelling. I cried because that young man loves them both. RH is so phenomenal as Franco. I don’t know anyone who could pull this lunacy off like him. I can’t wait to see what he does. I believe that GH will bring back the Super Couple. Franco & Carly,Michael & KiKi ( the name is growing on me ) , Alexis & Julian, Sam &Silas who by the way are so hot , it should be against the law to have that much chemistry with someone other than your spouse. It doesn’t matter who they play. They have that X factor. Of course there are things that give me pause. The mob thing, Sick or dying baby storylines, and I wish we could have had some closure for Johnny Z and Claudia before they killed her off. They both deserved to love each other with out it being weird, and creepy. It makes so much sense now. Their relationship and Claudia ‘s special bond with her son. GH rocks !
IMO where the Y&R and B&B belong, at the bottom! Go GH and Days!

Yes, Y&R stinks in comparison to GH, and I watch both/am a long time fan of both and GH puts Y&R to shame..
There is something about the ratings of Y&R that is a mystery..
people, as myself, watch Y&R because we’re loyal fans, but that gives Y&R a number but does not say it is better than GH, it is not..
seems numbers and quality are 2 different things whit soap ratings..

The best soap on the air is General Hospital!!! Has been for 50+ years!!! I don’t watch DAYS, never could get into it and B&B got so boring, silly and repetitive that I stopped watching it. Y&R is pretty boring right now as well but I’m trying to hang in there. If I’m home I watch it but if I miss it, it’s no big deal. GH is the only soap that I tape if I’m not going to be home and even when I watch it live, I usually watch it again on SoapNet that night or on the weekend.
Even with the ups and downs over the years, General Hospital is the soap to watch!!!!!
Gh is on fire! It has been a SUPER soap lately!! Bringing back everyone especially Lucy! She is just joy to watch. It is must watch!!!!
GH was on running on all cylinders last week– and when stories are hot the viewers watch. Days is picking up a bit after having slowed down for a while. Y&R is starting to feel the discontent of viewers with JFP and the direction this regime took the show– it has been a year since taking over and the show is declining, not getting better. Why Sony can’t put two and two together and realize their choice for producer is hurting the show is beyond me. The ratings should go up for Katherine’s memorial– but after that and with the new HW– I fear the show’s number might keep going down. B&B rides the wave of Y&R success as their lead in– when Y&R numbers slide so does B&B’s.
Mary f…had to reply here…i do love your idea that Britt is carrying her own brother! but it would horrify Anna that the daughter of her enemy was carrying her own grandchild and then Dr. O kidnapped him …as for the A.J. thing i was simply pointing out to some that AJ or Ava would be too obvious…it has to mean someone or something else…however i didnt say Connie was trying to write a whole sentence…i feel she was going to write one more word which wouldve revealed killer…i seen this in some old movie or crime show a long time ago, and its why i said it.
Frank and Ron are back in their groove after the character introductions. All story lines are building and converging. It really is all about the writing & the use of Core vs. New Characters. They have figured out the mix. Y&R losing viewers in the build up to Katherine’s death is a huge red flag. That should be a moment where fans who currently watch and used to watch check in and see this iconic character written out in a way that she is due. That is not happening, which is sad. Congrats #Cartini! Now just one nudge to bring back Stefan Cassadine 🙂

General ‘HOT’pital is no. 1…Poor Dulls As Our Lives, The Yawn And The Restless, and The Bored and The Beautiful are just plain awful…GH is HOT, HOT, HOT!!! And it doesnt matter ratingswise what order they are in.
Your THE BORED & THE BEAUTIFUL titkle twist made me smile. The series is dull of late. I want the characters to grow up some and the powers that be clean house some as they solidify core families/legacy characters and incorporate a few new ones that make a difference and stay on the canvas.
GH is a strong soap thanks to the current leadership team. I am so happy it was spared cancellation for that really could have happened.
I liked Susan Flannery as Stephanie and tried to continue watching up until about a few months ago but it just no longer interest me. GH is my favorite, ive watched Dools since it began in the 60s but its not too interesting at the moment but some episodes are entertaining and as for Y&R i tune in on occasion now and even less since the passing of my favorite Jeanne Cooper…i still like Tracy Bergman who plays Lauren and watch when she and Micheal are on…GH remains the soap i rarely miss.
general hospital is on fire right now. i love dr.o. she loves to sing and dance. who knew?. dr. o is evil, but she is entertaining to watch. i am so happy kimberly is coming back in the fall. great news for us fans. please bring back robert scorpio.now. sign tristan to a contract. also jackie zeman needs to come back home with lucas. i miss bobbie spencer so much. julian jerome is hot hot hot. i love him so much.

The fact that Y&R took a huge hit in the ratings should be a signal to Angelica McDaniel (CBS Daytime Chief) and Steve Kent (Sony Pictures) that fans are quickly tuning out to the dredge and druck that JFP is dishing out that thinks is good drama. PUHLEEEZZZEEEE! #FireJFP @saveyrtoday
Summer, Nick, Jack story is pitifully bad dull not interesting terrible.. I wish the story would be flushed for the bad crap it is.
Neil and Rose story is boring and way to drawn out..

admitted to Patrick that her baby isn’t his at all, Maxie with her baby , Spinelli is a dad ,& the guy saving Danny’s life is the baby’s grandfather and I think AJ didn’t kill Connie.. I think the initials in Connie’s blood is Ava Jerome(AJ) . Because Connie figured out that the guy running Crimson is really Julian and Connie over heard his conversation on the phone heard him say the name Julian over the phone with Ava…And Connie was going to tell Sonny the Jerome’s are still alive..But Ava stopped Connie and shot & killed her.
I originally thought Ava but i think RC is going to put a twist on it and maybe its Alice or even Monica. Also, now i wish Britss baby will really turn out to be Patricks…and Robins! DrO is cleaver enough to pull that shocking twist…Britts carrying Patricks and Robins son!!!

Jim, you come up with the best theories and ideas. You really do! This one in particular though, about Robin and Patrick, is probably my favourite though :).
Susan, i think AJ in her blood is a red herring to fool us viewers…it could mean A.J or Ava Jerome or Connie could also be trying to warn that Sonny that Ava and Julian are part of the Jerome family…she could been spelling out A.J.s mother or even Alice who is fond of A.J. I just think A.J. and Ava would be too predictable…i could be wrong but i dont think RC would write it that simple…it has to be someone other than the two obvious…unless the shocking twist is A.J. really did shoot her!!!
One more suspect…Heather Webber…shes been known to escape the sanitarium before…Connie couldve been writing A.J. is innocent but died too soon…Heather might not liked it that Connie hurt Franco when she revealed Kiki wasnt his daughter…maybe farfetched but there are endless possibilities and stranger things have happened in PC!
O come on Jim, the woman is dying, she only has moments to live, she is desperate to say something and you think she is trying to write out a whole sentence, like AJ’s mother, or AJ is innocent– please. I am starting to think it is not an A and J but she was trying to draw some kind of symbol that is related to the killer— maybe a tattoo he had or a pendent on a necklace– I agree anything is possible, but a dying woman is not going to be writing a whole sentence, just something short and to the point.
As for Dr. O impregnating her daughter with Robin and Patrick’s child– for what purpose? She hates that family, I can’t see any reason why she would want to give her swore rival Anna another grand child. It would only torment Anna if she knew the kid existed and they had him, otherwise what would be the point— The more creepy option would be — Dr. O when she was younger had some of her eggs fertilized by Faison, and they have been in storage all these years and now Britt is about to give birth to her own brother. Now that would be some twist.

These are easily the best two soaps on the air right now!
Young & The Restless do not know of one of my friends or relatives that watched it are still watching they have shut it off and tell me they are much happier. I saw 10 minutes of the storyline of Carmine & Michael’s fight and I was truly embarrassed for this once great show. I have set my recorder for JC’s memorial but I am not taping it anymore after that. And if that is disloyal so be it had enough when it is junk it is junk. As for GH still have hope usually more good days then bad. Disappointed in the death scene of Connie I mean here is a mobster who can’t grab something to stop the bleeding and call 911. And please get someone on the set to teach MB how to hold a revolver.
The two best soaps on right now are AMC and Days. I don’t watch GH so can’t comment on that. Young and restless is boring, and bold and beautiful only focuses on love triangles. Bleh. Oltl was also super boring with no plot movement.whatsoever save for the last 3 weeks.

I always enjoy your theories and flights of fancy regarding GH storylines….don’t know if a less evil Dr. O. would be nearly as enchanting or entertaining, but I do hope the “GreatGati” will be around for a long, long time!!!! Speaking of creative notions, I could not help but ROFLMAO at Britt’s assertion that Brad is her “babydaddy!” REALLY? Like we are supposed to believe that the brilliant beauty and her equally gifted mutta decided getting the gaysian lab tech to “donate” to their cause was the solution to all their problems? PLEEEZE! As if someone wouldn’t notice when the child came out half-Chinese with a funky hairdo???? Totally beggars belief!!!! It’s such a ludicrous idea that I am simply not buying it…and how about Patrick’s reaction??? He was meant to be seething with anger, and it was quite obvious he could barely keep a straight face at the big reveal!!!! The whole thing is sooo completely bizarre, and I am still waiting for another twist to happen! Was a really absurd episode yesterday…..between Britt’s “whale of a whopper” (and I don’t mean her figure…but is she not the hugest fake pregnant lady ever?..She looks ready to explode!!!!!) and Sabrina’s pathetic DIY display, the visuals were just TOO much! (Well, that and WDV’s skivvie moment….) Hope the way Sappy’s little home project collapsed is but a foreshadowing of her so-called “relationship” with Drake Jr. Hahaha….As for Epiphany…yeah,WHERE is she? I hope that Dr.O has an identical twin sister who switched places with her, and like Robin is held captive by her evil twin…this way when Anna catches the evil Dr.O and sends her to prison Britts less villainess mom can come to PC and be with Britt full time!!! She can be a little bit of a troublemaker but not too bad a villain…she also sings and gets a parttime job at some of the local clubs, and as a normal Dr. she can get a job at General Hospital and have some run ins with the staff, especially Epiphany…by the way what happened to her???
Oh, and speaking of Epiphany, am I the only one who was seriously disappointed that she didn’t perform “It’s Raining Men” at the Nurses’ Ball???? What a showstopper that could have been combined with the male revue they had!!!!
I will probably record next week’s Y&R. I like the idea of them keeping Katherine in the story. It has the potential to be a beautiful tribute if written well. I really wish they never undid the Katherine/Jill mother/daughter story. It was so important, and it was such a rip-off to re-write history to bring on a son who isn’t even on the canvas any longer and was ill conceived from the start. Anyway, I haven’t been able to stomach this show and what I’ve seen gets a D grade.
B&B gets a U for unwatchable. Why this is the #1 soap in the world I cannot even comprehend. The characters literally disgust me. Heather Tom, please come home to Y&R where you belong and are very much needed. You’re too talented for this trash. Sorry, B&B fans. Just my opinion. B&B brings out the worst in me. LOL
GH and DAYS are good soaps, and their show runners seem to understand that there’s not much room for anything less than excellence in today’s broadcasted soap environment.
On GH, I’m pretty much loving it all, except for the ONE LIFE three. None of these characters has done anything for me, and I’m afraid abc messed this one up, maybe because the change was so quick and so jarring, plus I am not a fan of brain tumor salvation story lines. Connie’s death broke my heart, but it’s going to fuel some major story, and Lisa LoCicero was a revelation, wasn’t she? Awesome job, Lisa!
I’m going to miss Kristen on DAYS, but I’m happy Shane and Kimberly are returning. I don’t mind a revolving door of familiar faces, as long as the story is good. However, I wan’t more and more Marlena. Deidre Hall is the star of this show, and I’m just not getting enough of her since she returned. Also, I’m enjoying JJ’s shenanigans. Jennifer and Daniel irritate me, so I’m glad someone is making their lives heck! LOL Even the mean H.R. chick at the hospital is growing on my because she says to Jenn what some of us would like to ourselves! What happened to funny, awkward, quirky Jennifer? Love Nicole!
What a tremendous week for GH! They added another 75,000 viewers, they jumped over Y&R to move into first place in women 18-34, and they jumped over B&B for 2nd place in women 18-49 for the week and for the year to date. The show has been fantastic lately, and if you’re not watching, you’re really missing out.
Yeah, but now progress will stall because Franco is coming on again. The weeks with good ratings are ones where Franco is off the air mostly.
GH added viewers because the acting is suburb / intense, awesome..
Also, the stories are mysterious, spellbinding, thrilling, and have a lot drama and heart..
GH is and always has been the leader in high drama ..
It offers suspense and keeps me aware and awake and at times on the edge of my seat.. The couples are not boring nor overwhelming with problems..
GH’s cast are the best of the best actors.. Excellent acting..
GH has the best dramas, suspense full of twists turns and surprises Writers ..
GH also uses past history and brings in past vets when possible..

Why such good ratings for the week on GH?
Minimal Franco, Franco eliminated from imposing on the Danny story. In a nutshell.
I wish Franco would leave the show forever. He was first supposed to be Kiki’s father, which would have entrenched him with the Q’s-being the father of another heir. It also looked like he would be able to save Danny which would have had the potential for some good stories but both of these things are over with. I see absolutely no purpose for this awful character. Cannot stand Roger H. playing him. GO AWAY. And WHY on earth is Ava still living in the Q mansion? Monica & Tracy would have kicked her to the curb the minute they would out Kiki is not a Q! Wake up writers!
Excellent point about Ava still being holed up at “ChezQ!” What the???? Now that she has betrayed AJ by voting for Tracy, Monica (by way of Alice…) should toss her out on her bodacious behind, but I guess the doc is still out of town attending that medical conference or whatever? Hopefully this will happen soon, although I suppose Mama Quartermaine may be a bit more preoccupied by the fact that her son is currently being held for murder….Also, it’s about time Kiki and Morgan hit the road, as well. Their little summer love nest should prove to be a bit chilly with the approaching fall and winter months….but where to go, where to go???? Would be hilarious to see them bunking at Carly’s!!! On second thought, she would probably just send them to the Metro Court!

They all had to deal with many illnesses and also lost all their strength and common sense. So I will take Ron’s stories anytime over Guza’s. Sean has finally had a chance to act. Kirsten has been off the charts anazing..just wish Kelly Sullivan had been kept on the xanvas!

KA/Starr has grown as an actress a Kiki and she doing a great job, I like her better than Starr..
The 3 have yet to have a story of their own..
And I am looking forward to much more Franco, I love watching the character develop into the power Q he will become..
I like change, it is necessary to grow.. GH has 3 great talents and it gets no better than RH, ME, in any soap as anyone..

Totally agree about RoHo and ME….I really do not think they deserve the bad rap they have taken! I am enjoying the journey of exploring their new/revised characters, even though I completely despised (James) Franco’s vision of his namesake….the 2.0version is much more complex and human in comparison! Still not into Kiki, though…there are still too many annoying and unattractive aspects to her role at this point. I am hoping that there will be some changes and refinements to KA’s portrayal to make her more acceptable and popular. As for some of the oldies, you are correct….I have previously mentioned those I consider to be deadweight that I would like to see sent away, so I won’t expound again, but a good housecleaning of PC is definitely in order.
General Hospital and Days of Our Lives are the best shows in daytime with General Hospital in the lead. I agree with one of the comments, Sonny has too much power. When Sonny had the gun on A.J., Dante should have pulled out his gun on Sonny and told him to put down his weapon or else. Instead, Sonny was allowed to threaten A.J with Michael begging Sonny not to shoot. Also, as the same commenter stated, A.J. is a differently built guy who should be able to take on Sonny, physically. I don’t understand why the writers don’t allow anyone to challenge Sonny. In life, Sonny would be challenged by anyone who’s a real; gun or no gun. Writers allowing Sonny to be more powerful than the Qs and getting away with taking a man’s son are the reasons I left GH before. Sonny wouldn’t be able to pull his stunts with Victor Newman.
My least favorite show right is Young and the Restless because the writing had become poor. However, I see where the Head writer has resigned. Good!
I love complex grey characters and couples…. hence why I’m watching and invested in 1st: EJ and Sami on Days of our Lives and 2nd: Adam/Chelsea on Young and the Restless.
Been turned off the Bold and the Beautiful after Brooke slept with her sisters husband. Regardless of circumstances etc etc, it was a new low, low for Brooke and I don’t think the writers should have ever gone there!
Tired of Franco and Sonny storylines, but otherwise I like what’s going on at GH.

Franco, yes, Sonny, no!!!! The snail’s pace of the FrancQ storyline has been almost TOO obvious, probably due to RoHo’s outside work commitments, but he really does need to get back to frontburner status on the show…I miss his energy, comical dialogue and off-the-wall antics! At the very least, he owes Ava some huge payback for her lies regarding Kiki!!!! As for Sonny, he and his “Bensonhurst Babe, No. 2” can stay in hiding as far as I’m concerned. His recycled plots (another love bites the dust, family problems, mob wars, Carly drama…) and his sullen/explosive reactions to them are so boring and predictable. Unless they come up with something new and creative for him this time around, then let him just go to his dark place and remain sulking there for awhile…..
I’m REALLY disappointed in DAYS lately. They need to change Head Writers also like Y&R. DAYS needs to go back to the 80’& 90’s where they had more romance & humor and less negativity. Alice & Tom Horton would roll over in their graves with what is going on now. The BIGGEST mistake The Powers That Be are making NOW is keeping the fabulous Drake Hogestyn out of Salem!! What a waste of his talents! With out Drake on I don’t mind missing the show either.
As far as Y&R is concerned the story line I hate more than anything now is Summer’s paternity. I think it’s awful to Summer,Nick & Jack. Sharon needs to be in a hospital for that trick!! Y&R is still better than DAYS right now though. It will be sad to watch Mrs. C’s funeral this week. But I will be happy to see the vets come back for her funeral.
I don’t watch General Hospital or Bold & Beautiful.

The reason for ratings getting better for GH is bc its the best soap on air now! Its getting more interesting and keeping us on the edge of our seats with connie being killed and luke being sick. maxies baby drama and just everything going on right now ! its just good tv! Ive always loved general hospital It is my favorite. young and the restless to me is boring!

‘Brilliant Minds’ Officially Canceled After 2 Seasons at NBC; DAYS Alum Al Calderon, OLTL Alum Teddy Sears and Zachary Quinto Among the Cast
After languishing on the bubble for months, on Friday, NBC handed down the decision and canceled the medical drama Brilliant Minds after two seasons.
Brilliant Minds stars Zachary Quinto as neurology physician Oliver Wolf, who’s character and the series is inspired by the life and books of neurologist. Oliver Sacks. The series focuses on the medical mysteries of the mind, as Wolf a larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns explore the last great frontier, the human mind, while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.
The final six episodes of what will now be the end of its second and final season were already set to air beginning on May 27, after being pulled off the network schedule in February as viewership saw a steep decline. Brilliant Minds second season became the lowest-rated drama on linear TV viewing, which didn’t bode well fo a network renewal, although it had its hard core fan base.

There are some exceptional notables in the cast along with the talented Quinto that includes Days of Our Lives alum, Al Calderon (ex-Javi Hernandez) who joined the series in its second season as Nurse Nico Silva, and One Life to Live alum, Teddy Sears (ex-Chad Bennett) who plays Wolf’s love interest and fellow physician, Dr. Josh Nichols.
The rest of the talented cast includes: Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Donna Murphy, John Clarence Stewart, and Brian Altemus.
In an ironic twist of fate on Thursday, April 30, Days of Our Lives finally revealed the actor who was Al Calderon’s successor in the role of Javi, when they announced that actor Jacob Martinez had now stepped into the role. Since DAYS tapes ten months ahead of streaming new episode, Calderon left in the spring of 2025, but will be seen in the part for the final part this month, and then on June 20, Martinez debuts as Salem’s new Javi.
Taking to his Instagram with a sorrowful and heartfelt post on the Brilliant Minds cancellation was Teddy Sears who wrote, “Thank you, Brilliant Minds. I got the call today and I didn’t want to hear, but I knew that it would come, You have to be a particular vintage to quote Don Henley from memory, but that’s the line that came to mind earlier today after I got off the phone with our inimitable showrunner Michael Grassi who delivered the news that NBC has cancelled the series”.

Sears continued, “To say that I feel sad to be moving on from these stories, this character, and this cast and crew just doesn’t paint the entire picture. I’m sad, sure. But I’m also deeply grateful that I got hired to play this part, so proud of the stories we told, and the other actors I got to play alongside. I’m excited to see what comes next, what adventures await, and terrified to be without a professional home. A quick and heartfelt thank you to everyone, all over the globe, who found us and found themselves in us, in our characters and in our stories. We wouldn’t have been able to tell them without you. And we still have 6 fresh episodes yet to air, and I do hope you tune in enjoy the remainder of the series. They’re the best we’ve done.”
As he wrapped up his sentiments, Sears signed off with, “The more I know, the less I understand. All the things I figured out I have to learn again. I’ve been trying to get down to the heart of the matter. But everything changes…Thank you, Brilliant Minds.”
The medical drama was created and executive produced by Michael Grassi alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Jasmine Russ, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis and Shefali Malhoutra.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Sophia Seemingly Plans to End Her Life, But Not Before Setting Fire to Johnny’s Apartment With Him Trapped Inside
The final few moments of the Thursday, April 30 episode of Days of our Lives, will pave the way, to what just may be the end of Sophia Choi’s (Rachel Boyd) life, but not as you may think!
After an unhinged Sophia paid a visit to Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), maced him in the eyes, knocked him out and then tied up to a chair, now conscious, she lets him know that she holds him responsible for all the trouble and trauma she has gone through from adopting her child, and her being sent to a mental institution.
So instead of the unregistered gun Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) gave her to finish off Johnny, Sophia sets up a plan to light candle, use nail polish remover and turn on the gas on the stove to ultimately create a mass explosion, which although Johnny pleaded to her not to that to all the innocent people inside his apartment building, she doesn’t seem to care.

FIERY FACE OFF
The plan was supposed to be, after she takes care of Johnny she will toss the gun in the Salem River, then focus on payback to Holly Jonas before leaving town to start a new life.
Now, Sophia makes her exit, leaving Johnny to be a few moments away from an explosion or gas inhalation, when Chanel (Raven Bowens) comes home after awaiting the results of her mammogram. She sees Johnny tied up, as he panics and tells her to put out the flame on the candle, things go awry, and a fire has begun and everything may go up in flames with Johnny and Chanel inside.

A BROKEN SOPHIA
Back in her room, Sophia breaks down after reading the social media comments about her, she planted, and then starts writing a suicide or farewell note which says. “I’m tired of begging for forgiveness for my mistakes. All I wanted was to move forward, to be loved and understood. But it’s clear that I was never going to get that. Holly Jonas said that I was dead to her. So, as her former BFF, I’m going to make her dream a reality.”

A DEADLY TRAP
Now, the fate of Johnny, Chanel and Sophia will be revealed on tomorrow’s May 1st cliffhanger, which may be the end of Sophia when she crosses paths with Kirsten at the bridge near the river. We do know Rachel Boyd is no longer appearing in the show credits section and is now off contract with the soap.

Jacob Martinez is ‘Days of Our Lives’ New Javi Hernandez Replacing Al Calderon in the Role
Finally! The casting has been revealed as to just who would be Al Calderon’s successor in the role of Days of our Lives, Javi Hernandez. On Friday, April 30, the long-running soap opera revealed Jacob Martinez is taking on the part and he will first be seen this coming June 30th and then on all-new episodes streaming on Peacock.
As previously reported, the popular Calderon exited the soap opera last year to join the cast of the NBC primetime medical drama, Brilliant Minds as nurse Nico Silva, who in May will air the remainder of their second season. The series has been on the bubble for renewal by the network. His last episodes as Javi will also air this May on DAYS.
Since DAYS tapes ten months ahead of streaming, Martinez has been secretly ensconced in all the drama in Salem for quite some time. When viewers see the new Javi in story, we should learn what will happen in Javi’s relationship with Leo Stark played by Emmy winner, Greg Rikaart, plus his continued relationship with his relatives in the Hernandez clan. Currently, when Javi returned to Salem after taking care of his ailing father, and after the bust-up of his marriage to Leo thanks to Dimitri (Peter Porte), he claimed he had moved on with someone else while he was away from Salem.

Like Calderon before him, Martinez is a multi-talented actor and singer. Jacob’s resume is impressive having appeared in the musical In Pieces: The Musical at Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater and he was hand-picked by Joey Contreras to play the role of Grey. Other credits include: the short film, Memory Swim and the play Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage.
Martinez hails from Norfolk, Nebraska and appeared when he was very young at the Johnny Carson Theatre, and as DAYS fans know, Jacob is now working at the Days of our Lives studios, right where the “Tonight Show” is filled. In addition, Jacob Martinez is a graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA).
Taking to his Instagram on Thursday, April 30 once the news of his casting was revealed, Martinez, expressed, “Way too many people to thank in one post, so I’ll just say THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART to each and every person who continues to pour into me and encourage me to chase my dreams. I cannot even begin to express how grateful I am. I already feel beyond blessed, supported, and loved. See you all in Salem ⏳”
