Days Of Our Lives

RATINGS: Great week for DAYS as show reveals its reboot!

Days of our Lives was the big winner in the ratings for the week of September 26th through September 30th, and that is because, as many know and had been well planned, the show did its reboot that week, bringing with it staple stars, Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Matthews Ashford, Christie Clark and Patrick Muldoon.

DAYS increased its viewership + 260,000 eyeballs and that is also over last year at this same time.  DAYS also had increases for key demos during the week as well.

The only other show to garner more viewers that week was General Hospital who added +55,000 viewers. And the top three remained  1) The Young and the Restless 2) The Bold and the Beautiful 3) One Life to Live.

Also of note, this was the first week that All My Children did not appear in the ratings. Sadly, the ratings sheet looks more empty with only five soaps left at this time.  Who would have ever thought we would see that day?  View the full ratings courtesy of Soap Opera Network after the jump!

Glad to hear of Days’ ratings success! I am one of those viewers who tuned back in after years of not watching so I could see my faves Marlena, Carrie, Austin, John and Jack again. So far, I’m liking what I’m seeing, but I have to admit I don’t really like this cast outside of the returning characters and Bo, Hope, Jennifer, Kate, Stefano and Victor.

I love them all and hope Bryan Dattilo/Lucas Horton comes home to Salem to stay forever.

OLTL lost its momentum. Victor being shot left for a so-so who dun-nit. It has been pretty boring all week. Let’s move story along…..who is in the hospital bed, who killed Victor, let Nat find out Brody knew about the paternity, let Jack go to juvenille detention, etc. I fast forwarded through much of the last 2 weeks. I haven’t done that in a long time.

Yeah, I continue to watch, but these last two weeks have been agonizing…. We all know that Shane is the one who took out Victor. Stacy is in the bed, but she’s had her face re-done to look like Gigi (no secret, I’ve just put the pieces together) And for God’s sake will someone please tell John that he’s Liam’s father!!! Out of all the stories, that is the one that is getting on my nerves the most. This is the one major issue that I have with soaps…..they drag some stories on for a life time. The DNA baby… Read more »

UPDATED: On Wednesday, the nominations were unveiled for the 75th annual Writers Guild Awards to be held on Sunday, March 5 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

In the category of Daytime Drama, only Days of our Lives was nominated, thus DAYS becomes the automatic winner as the sole nominee.

The nominated and winning DAYS writing team consists of: Head Writer Ron Carlivati; Writers Lorraine Broderick, Jazmen Darnell Brown, Joanna Cohen, Carolyn Culliton, Richard Culliton, Cheryl Davis, Kirk Doering, Christopher Dunn, Jamey Giddens, David Kreizman, Ryan Quan, Dave Ryan, Katherine D. Schock.

DAYS head writer, Ron Carlivati shared in a statement: “My team and I are thrilled to be nominated for the 2023 Writers Guild Award for Daytime.  We submitted three scripts from the storyline about Craig’s late-in-life coming out, the impact it had on his wife, Nancy, and of course, his ill-fated romance with the ever-scheming Leo. We felt that these episodes were a good representation of what Days of our Lives does best: high-stakes family drama with a comedic twist.”

The episodes DAYS submitted for competition were #14320 which aired 4/19/2022, #14321 which aired 4/20/2022 and show #14331 that aired 5/4/2022.  They also featured the disastrous double wedding of Leo and Craig and Xander and Gwen, and its fallout.

DAYS and Y&R Alum, Quinn Redeker, Dead at 86

There was yet another death in the soap opera family at the end of 2022, that is just coming to light today.  Quinn Redeker, who played Alex Marshall on Days of our Lives (1979-1987) and Rex Sterling and Nick Reed on The Young and the Restless died on December 20th from natural causes, according to his family.  Quinn was 86-years-old.

Redeker was twice nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category for his work on Y&R in 1989 and 1990.

Y&R viewers will remember Rex was a great-love of Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) and the dad of both, Danny Romalotti and Gina Roma.  He first appeared in that role on the CBS soap opera back in 1987.  However, years earlier, Redeker appeared in 1979 as Nick Reed, the abusive father of Nikki.

Among Redeker’s other most notable work was that as a screenwriter for the 1978 Oscar-nominated film classic, The Deer Hunter starring Robert DeNiro, Christopher Walken and Meryl Streep. Quinn was credited for the original screenplay along with Deric Washburn, Louis A. Garfinkle and Michael Cimino.

Lisa Rinna Exits ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ After 8 Seasons

Days of our Lives alum, Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie) is departing her reality series gig with the announcement she is exiting Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after 8 seasons.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Rinna shared on her decision: “This is the longest job I have held in my 35 year career and I am grateful to everyone at Bravo and all those involved in the series. It has been a fun eight-year run and I am excited for what is to come!”

Actually, the decision to leave RHOBH came when Lisa’s contract was up at the end of last season, and after discussing her options along with her other business obligations, Rinna and Bravo mutually decided she would not return for another season. Rinna joined the franchise in its fifth season, back in 2014.

Throughout her time on RHOBH, Lisa was involved in numerous dramatic moments, twists, fights, feuds, along with a ton of social media vitriol antics.

Lisa was last seen as DAYS Billie Reed when she reprised her signature soap role for the Peacock limited-series, Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem which premiered in the summer of 2021.

So, glad that Lisa is finally finished at ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’, or will you miss all the drama she finds herself in at the epicenter of each season? Comment below.
