Beyond the Gates
RATINGS: B&B Has Strong Week in Total Viewers and Key Demos, ‘Beyond the Gates’ Steadies Itself
The Bold and the Beautiful thumped its competition in the ratings for the week of March 31- April 4th, spring-boarding off the shocking April 2 and April 3rd episodes, which saw Liam Spencer (following a very heated confrontation with his father Bill Spencer) lose consciousness and hit his head on the way down to the floor.
Later, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) happens by Bill’s (Don Diamont) and sees Liam (Scott Clifton), who somehow made to the front door after the initial fall, now unconscious after hitting his head a second time on the cement. The moments were a surprise and have begun a new story arc for three-time Daytime Emmy winner, Scott Clifton, who also earned Michael Fairman TV’s, Power Performance of the Week honors for his work.
According to the Nielsen Ratings data, The Bold and the Beautiful added +131,000 total viewers for the week which was also up-year-to-year by 13,000. B&B came in with an average of 2,716,000 which was very close to the top-rated, The Young and the Restless, total viewers averaging 3,081,000.

In addition, B&B ranked third in the key women 18-49 demo for daytime shows, just behind the second hour and the 1st hour of The Price is Right and ahead of Today’s third hour, according to Soap Opera Network.
Head-to-head with the other soaps, B&B topped the18-49 demo with a 0.33 ratings share, ahead of its sister soap, The Young and the Restless which had a 0.31 share. In the women 25-54 demo, Y&R bested B&B with a 0.52 to 0.47 ratings share, respectively.

Beyond the Gates which had dipped the previous week, seemed to level off. The new daytime drama series came in with total viewer gains averaging 1,622,000. It also remained ahead of General Hospital in the women 18-49 and 25-54 demos but not total viewers. As for GH, the show was up slightly in total viewers for the week with 1,811.000, but remained the same and slightly down in the ratings share for women 18-49 and 25-54.
So, what do you think about the ratings performance of The Bold and the Beautiful as compared to the other three network daytime soap operas for episodes airing the week of March 31-April 4? Comment below.
I’m sure there will be hate but the bold Keeps giving its audience what it wants .Side note Rebecca Buddig has to go! Gh and yandr are both sleep inducing and it’s interesting all the Ron c hate but I feel days delivers a solid episode every day. I know they aren’t included here but they also give the audience what it wants . As far as the gates good for it it is still working out its kinks I feel letting the actor who plays Ted go is a major mistake and I feel Jon lindstrom is a dud as Joey Brandon barash would have been a much better choice. Finally I understand the news stories are important but the constant interruptions are ridiculous how can you expect a new show to sustain an audience! I think beyond the gates has Been interrupted half a dozen times already This wouldn’t happen in prime time
WHAT INTERRUPTIONS, do you mean the news stories about Trump’s new/old crap he’s pulling, dragging us deeper and deeper down with him? Those News things are pre-empted, always during the Soap Opera time.
B&B And Y&R my favorite.
Baha no one watching beyond the ggates
Obviously your wrong: Checkout key demos, key demo’s is what keep programs on the air!! In time viewership will increase, the writing is very good!!
I watch BTG every single day and I love dani.
It’s demos are incredibly strong (beating GH in the two advertsers pay the most for) and it’s the only soap with a direct time-slot competitor (GH, literally the oldest and most established still-running drama, not just soap opera, on television), and it’s a month old. I’d say everyone is happy with it so far.
Also, given that it also streams (where a LOT of younger and working viewers watch exclusively) and airs on basic cable (BET) at night, it doesn’t need all of its viewers during the daytime broadcast to be a success. Time will tell, but there is nothing to laugh at here.
LOL I know
One would think a soap fan would want to see the show succeed. Demos are what matter and they’re not horrible. I am not a huge fan but I want it to succeed for many reasons. Would I had preferred they brought back Guiding Light? Yes, but they didn’t so here’s hoping Beyond the Gates stays around for awhile. Pretty sure the show still tops The Talk’s ratings and that’s important too!
Any of the old Soaps would never be the same, unless they had the same actors, of which they are now dead or too old.
You’ld be surprised how many of us are watching BTG, Blk and Wht.
i love annika noelle n bb
I love Days and BTG. Y&R and GH are in slumps. I think the Victor v Jack story and the Sonny/Carly/Jason show have all outlived their usefulness. New writers with fresh ideas are needed on both of those programs.
A lot of these shows you mention have new writers, and that’s seems to be the problem, they can’t write!
Not any hate going on just Brad does not close out a story they just disappear for whatever reason the actor who played RJ was weak but tell the audience where he went did he fall down a rat hole never to be seen again. Bridget shows up this week what the heck is she a doctor working if so why is she never seen Bill what is going on there he is responsible for Luna the loon pardoned . What is this man writing ? It’s frustrating yes I questioned how it keeps its ratings I guess it’s a whole new audience.
The ‘weak’ actor playing RJ was actually getting better near the end of his run. Some actors take extra time to grow into a role. I can name several others on the B&B who took time to become stronger performers. The smear campaign against Joshua Hoffman was shameful. I hope RJ returns soon with a new actor in the role and I hope people will give the new actor a real chance.
A big problem is that a lot of people hate the RJ character no matter who plays him. Online negative nellies targeted the teen RJ actor Anthony Turpel too, saying he wasn’t hot and other cruel things, and he’s doing great work with Netflix and Hulu shows now.
If RJ breathes, critics will complain he stole their air. Why? Simply because he is Brooke’s son with Ridge. They don’t like there’s a living, walking testament to Brooke’s belief in ‘destiny’. People have used social media to also attack Katherine Kelly Lang’s integrity and accused her of dictating the direction of the show and pushing “Bridge”. It’s awful and it’s not true but some people have no boundaries to their meanness.
I’m sorry for this long rant but I am really tired.
Well here I have to say I agree with you especially Will He’s a legacy character his parents are at odds over a hostile takeover and his girlfriend has turned murderer but nothing instead Zende is seen at Forrester Creations it really is a strange look to just have the character go off into the sunset without even a mention! I honestly feel the off the wall writing is on purpose to get us viewers talking
Not surprised that you talk about GH being in a slump. I don’t know what is going on over there, but they’re writing and their admin are on the wrong track. Time to get back on the right track. Many or leave them.

Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.
