Rebecca Budig reveals she wanted Leo & Greenlee to be together at the end of AMC!

Everyone loved seeing Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) on-screen with Josh Duhamel when he returned for a brief stint as Leo du Pres, recently on All My Children. Problem was Duhamel’s return made Leo  just a dream and not one of the Pine Valley un-dead, care of the Project Orpheus.

Now Budig is admitting to TV Guide, just how she wanted Greenlee’s happy ending to turn out as All My Children bids farewell on network television on September 23rd. “You know how I wanted Leo to come back? I wanted him to be my ending,” Taking nothing away from Ryan (Cameron Mathison), but I wanted Leo and Greenlee to go through this whole thing. I wanted to be struggling because I find out he’s alive, and when I find him, he’s struggling because I’m the love of his life. In the end, I wanted them to go off together. The audience doesn’t know what’s going to happen to them, we just see them going away.”

Instead, of course, Greenlee woke up to find Zach (Thorsten Kaye), still alive after going down in a plane crash several months ago.  “It was a little bizarre. I was thrilled to work with Josh again, but it was sort of a tease, too,” Budig said.

The actress went on to admit, “I had something special with Josh that I’ve never had with anyone. It just felt really real and authentic and that’s hard to come by. I do feel that with Cameron, too, though. I don’t know — I got lucky.”

Would you have preferred a Leo and Greenlee reunion as AMC fades to black on ABC? Let us know!

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say HECK YES!!!! Rylee is putrid disgusting crap that is insuluting to the longtime viewers of AMC. Heck, even the actors don’t like it. Put Greenleo and Ryan/Gillian together and call it a day.

Absolutely!!! Rebecca understands and knows the GreenLeo fans so well! As happy as I was to see Josh come back as Leo, it was a HUGE disappointment that the writers chose to have him come back simply as a dream. I mean, Josh returning was a GIFT, and that was the best they could do?! Seriously, Rebecca was so right. Her ending for Greenlee would have been THE perfect ending, not only for Greenlee herself, but for Leo & Greenlee together. After all, they were one of AMC’s most loved couples EVER! There’s no reason why they couldn’t have written… Read more »

Nice to see someone’s in touch with what the audience wanted. Why in the hell didn’t they write it so that Leo was alive and so that he and Greenlee rode off into the sunset? I don’t know how they are going to do the whole Gillian story, since it was released that she is coming back, but if she shows up alive and Leo isn’t that will be a real disappointment for me. It doesn’t make sense, since we all saw her die, go through the operation and be buried…..but Leo whose body was never recovered is dead? Greenlee… Read more »

It is funny how the actors and the audience know what’s working and what doesn’t but not the people in charge, Frons mostly (but then again he is the idiot who canned OLTL when it’s the highest rated soap on his network!!! Moron!)
I love Leo and Greenlee too, they were my favorite thing about AMC EVER!!! Seeing clips of them from the past shows me how perfect they were and how much Leo is missed!!! At least the actor came back before it goes off.

Perhaps Josh/Leo didn’t have the time or desire to come and stay. I have also missed him a lot. He and Greenlee definitly had chemistry.

Something tells me that Leo would have turned out alive if the Prospect Park deals hadn’t come into play. That said, even then, if Rebecca Budig was sure to not make the transition to the web soap, they could have worked out in time a GreenLeo happy ending.

Carol Burnett On Her 90th Birthday Recalls Agnes Nixon Offering Her the Role of All My Children’s Verla Grubbs

Last night on her 90th birthday, comedy legend Carol Burnett was honored during the NBC TV special, Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love.  Today, April 27th,the extended cut is available to stream on Peacock.

In an interview on her career with Vulture, Burnett discussed how she eventually wound up playing the role of Verla Grubbs on her favorite soap opera, All My Children.Burnett, first played the role in 1983.

As many know, Carol was a professed longtime fan of Pine Valley, and over the years, many wondered if she asked for a role on the show and thus reached out to its legendary creator, Agnes Nixon.

Burnett revealed: “I didn’t have to. She volunteered. When I did questions and answers at the top of my show, I often talked about All My Children with the audience. I’d say, ‘Oh, I didn’t see it today. What happened?’ Because my lunch hour was built around watching All My Children. Agnes knew that, and she called and said, ‘Would you like it if I wrote a character for you?’ I said, ‘Absolutely!’ So on my hiatus, I flew back to New York and they had a whole story line for me. I was on it for two weeks, and I got to know Susan Lucci. Oh, and Susan is on the 90th! She flew out and I was thrilled. But soap operas are the hardest work, because, oh my God, you get 19 pages at night, you have to study the lines, and then you go do it in the morning. I really admire soap-opera actors, how they pull it off.”

The character of Verla Grubbs (the daughter of Langley Wallingford) appeared on AMC several times in 1983, 1995, 2005 and 2011.
