Finally what many fans have waited for, a chance to hear directly from Rebecca Herbst on what went down behind-the-scenes a few months ago at General Hospital when the powers-that-be told the talented actress she had been let-go as Elizabeth Webber.  Of course later what transpired was an amazing fan backlash which seemed to have saved Herbst’s job!

In the new issue of ABC Soaps In Depth, Herbst told the publication on the firing, “It was surreal,” she recalls of that fateful Friday meeting with the show’s executives in which she was told the news. “I didn’t see it coming.” Elizabeth was the odd woman out in three romantic triangles, and is in the middle of a paternity issue between two brothers which is why the firing was a shocker to her. “That’s why it did take me by surprise,” she says with a sigh.

Well, Rebecca is front and center on GH starting today with the beginning of the Jake hit and run, and the aftermath! Stay tuned.

I am happy Becky is staying. I am really sad about this Jake storyline, but I know that there are going to be some power-house performances coming out of this, not only from Becky, but the rest of the GH cast involved in this, as well. That’s the reason I’m watching it.

i think it’s great
rebecca is staying it’s really sad the story line with jake! i hope all turns out
o.k. he is a beautiful little boy! i just hope liz ends up with lucky and not jason!
liz and lucky are soul mates they have a long history together!
the reason aidan is really there son together says it all! th at is what is called fate!
like jason and sam belong together i hope to see jason and sam have a baby of there own! maybe once for a change something happy will occur for those 2 as well!
look at sonny and brenda! word is vanessa is leaving again! i hope not!
thank you l kirky

I’m really upset that this chick gets to stay and other great actors or put on recurring status! What a bunch of bull! Her character was useless anyway. Instead of getting rid of Jake by a hit and run why not ELizabeth. Lucky & Siobhan could raise the kids.

I just wanted to say again, that I am so happy that Becky is staying.

I am so glad that Becky is staying her character is an integral part of GH history

After seeing Becky’s performance on Friday I would think someone bumped their head the day they fired her…so glad they got it right!!

I just wanted to add I think the reason that Jason & Liz had so many fans was the tasteful smoking hot love scene that created Jake. That was want did it for me ! Romantic at heart! A love that can never be makes fans want more! Sadly it is gone thanks RH & SB for the memories!

Jason and Liz did not have some many fans, if they did they would have been together long before Courtney/Sam.Liason only have fans on paper and thats due to Richard/Ryan pimping.Trust me if they had the fans, sshe would be with Jason.Sam got tied down, simply because they have chemistry and they are hot together and not boring. When JJ couldn’;t deal with Liz anymore, and R&R had her 6 fans whining for Jason and making up stuff in putting it in those mags and pimping the character, she should be on Broadway by now!Paper pimp ain’t good and thats all Liason was!No one ever regonized them unless Richard/Ryan ask to have them included.hell even Lucky and Sam had more fans come see them than Liason and thats when Jason knew Liason was bullshit!

ugh…..enough already with the “we love rebecca herbst & her character Liz” already!!! I can’t take it anymore. i have never disliked a character more in my entire time watching abce soaps. and i’ve been watching them for 22 years for goodness sake!! i mean Liz wasn’t so bad when she first came on but these past few years, grrrrrrrr i’ve been praying for her to be killed off or fired and finally that day came ….. only for stupid idiot people to freak out and get her un-fired!!!! why???????????// why????????/ she is a two-faced character who has done nothing in over a year as far as storyline. and by the way-Aidan is NOT LUCKY”S HAHAHAHAHA and stay AWAY from JASON SLORE

The powers that be at GH should know that we have literally grown up with Rebecca as Elizabeth. We love her!! I didn’t even know that was going on til now. Maybe they should think about the characters that we cherish so dearly, and give them the great story lines. Instead of bringing back characters from the past that I/we absolutely hate. As in… A.J. Quartermaine, Heather Webber, Fasion. Get that hideous Connie Falconari off, and leave her as Kate. I personally hate A.J. and Heather so much, sometimes I can’t watch the show when their on.

Why the hell you do people keep whining about Jake? Jake was a bastard and nothing more.Liason was so bhot to get her into the Q’s they should have whin about that when AJ was on GH.Liz cannot do couples. the best she have ever been was with Lucky(JJ)and it wasn’t because of her skills but his!You fans get her thrown out there and get ran over by someone who can do it better.Liz needs to stop defending on everyone to get her ocer because, its going to happen she will get fired and no one is going to help this time!SBu is gone, oh, why didn’t she go over to Y&R like her fans claimed wanted her?All on Twitter and sited that Y&R wanted her, Y&R shut that down when asked, one even ask, who was the character,Liz?

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
