Ricky Martin’s Nephew Withdraws Court Case and Charges Dropped; Singer Speaks Out for First Time Since Allegations

Photo: JPI

The allegations made against former General Hospital and global music superstar, Ricky Martin (Ex-Miguel) have been dropped.

Martin’s nephew, who’d accused Ricky of harassment and sexual abuse asked to have the case dismissed in a Puerto Rican court on Thursday.

In a statement, Ricky Martin’s attorneys shared: “Just as we had anticipated, the temporary protection order was not extended by the Court. The accuser confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure, and the accuser confirmed he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter. The request came from the accuser asking to dismiss the case. This was never anything more than a troubled individual making false allegations with absolutely nothing to substantiate them. We are glad that our client saw justice done and can now move forward with his life and his career.

For the first time since all of the legal trouble began for Martin, he spoke on the matter on video shared by TMZ:  “I’m in front of the cameras today because I really need to talk in order for me to start my healing process. For two weeks, I was not allowed to defend myself because I was following a procedure where the law obligated me not to talk until I was in front of a judge”Thank God (these) claims were proven to be false, but I’m going to tell you the truth. It has been so painful. It has been devastating for me, for my family, for my friends. I don’t wish this upon anybody.”

Ricky added: “To the person that was claiming this nonsense, I wish him the best. And I wish he finds the help so he can start a new life filled with love and truth and joy and he doesn’t hurt anybody else. Now, my priority is to heal. And how do I heal? With music. I cannot wait to be back on stage. I cannot wait to be back in front of the cameras, and entertain, which is what I do best.:  Martin ended the video with: “Thank you to all of my friends. Thank you to all the fans who always believed in me. You have no idea the strength that you gave me with every comment you wrote on social media. I wish you love and light and here we come, with the same strength and passion. God bless you all.”

His nephew has mental health issues, I knew Ricky Martin was innocent. Love you Ricky Martin.

Yeah, this one never had the “ring of truth” to it…. it’s not like Ricky Martin would have any problems finding a man outside the family. Really hope the nephew gets the help that he needs.

Right on! Why would he prey on some troubled young man, especially a relative when he can have his pick. He also couldn’t even say nephew but refers to him as ” the person claiming this nonsense “. I think it was all nonsense.

I also feel that while he can have his choice, why would he pursue this troubled young man,his own nephew that he refers to as ” the person claiming this nonsense “

What was not clear in the reporting is the accuser was the son of his step-sister – thus not biologically his nephew. Regardless, it’s time for this story to go away and for us to get back to criticizing the soap writers.

I appreciate your sharing that clarification, Steve. I have not read about this case anywhere but here, and I wouldn’t have known.

While I totally agree that this story never had the slightest ring of truth about it, it is completely irrelevant whether Ricky Martin would or would not have any problems finding a man other than the purported victim in this case, any more than it’s relevant, in a rape accusation, whether the man (usually) accused can or cannot get a woman to sleep with him via consent. Sexual predators can–and often do–have otherwise-normal sexual relationships as well. Let’s be careful to keep that in mind. That said, nobody in the world, except possibly the accuser’s lawyer (and I’m not even… Read more »

Anne Heche ‘Not Expected to Survive’; Suffered Severe Brain Injury From Fiery Crash

In just heartbreaking news, Daytime Emmy-winner, Anne Heche (Ex-Vicky/Marley, Another World), is not expected to survive after days in the hospital following being severely burned in a fiery car crash when her vehicle struck a home in Mar Vista, California last Friday.

According to family and friends of the motion picture and television star in a statement, “Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive. It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she is being kept on life support to determine if any are viable.”  Deadline notes, the actress will be taken off life-support.

The statement went on to say, “We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne’s recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital.  More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”

There are plans for Heche to get an Honor Walk, which is a hero’s goodbye donor patients receive by hospital staff as they are wheeled into the operating room in their final journey.

Heche will be featured on Lifetime’s Girl in Room 13, set to premiere this fall in September. Lifetime’s Executive VP  and head of programming, Amy Winter, revealed earlier this week at the TCA press tour, “As many of you know, Anne remains in critical condition and all of us here at Lifetime are deeply concerned for her and everyone affected. This project is important to Anne, along with each and every one of us. We all sought to make a film that would bring attention to this appalling issue of human sex trafficking.”

In addition, TMZ had reported that following toxicology reports, Cocaine was found in Heche’s system following the crash. They also found fentanyl. However,  sources say fentanyl can often be used as a pain medication in hospitals, so there is no confirmation that it was in Anne’s system at the time of the crash.

Anne was an amazing actress with such a tortured life.  We send thoughts and prayers to all her loved ones during this difficult time.  Share your thoughts on the latest update on Anne in the comment section below.

Anne Heche in “Extremely Critical Condition”; Still in Coma Following Fiery Car Crash

Although earlier reports over the weekend had soap opera alum and Daytime Emmy-winner, Anne Heche (Ex-Vicky/Marley, Another World) in stable condition following crashing her car into a home, on Monday an update on her condition looked more grim.

According to a statement provided to Deadline by Heche’s rep: “At this time Anne is in extreme critical condition. She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention. She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

Since last Friday, Heche has been hospitalized following a harrowing incident where she crashed her car which caught fire into a private home in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles.

In addition, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Annie Hernandez told City News Service that investigators obtained a warrant for a blood draw from Heche.

Over the last few days, a new episode of Heche’s podcast “Better Together” with her co-host Heather Duffy was released, which showed the actress slurring her speech.

Erroneous reports said that the podcast which dropped on Friday, was also recorded that day, and that Heche had been drinking prior to her accident during the show.  However, it has come to light that Heche taped that episode last Tuesday, not the day of the crash.

UPDATED: TV and film star, and Another World alum, Anne Heche (Ex-Vicky/Marley) is in critical condition following a harrowing and fiery car crash in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon.

“Anne is in the ICU, she’s lucky to be alive. She has severe burns and has a long recovery ahead. Her team and her family are still trying to process what led up to the crash,” a source close to the actress revealed to CNN on Saturday morning.

According to reports and video obtained by TMZ, Heche was driving at lighting speed and crashed twice in a residential area of Mar Vista.  In the initial crash, Anne, who was driving a Mini Cooper slammed into the garage of an apartment complex. Residents attempted to get Anne out of the vehicle but she put her car in reverse and then sped away.  Next, she crashed into a home, which ignited a fire, and the fire engulfed the entire home.  However, Anne was severely burned in the fire and taken out by ambulance in a stretcher.

According to Los Angeles Fire Department Capt Erik Scott: “We had a significant traffic collision, we had entrapment of a woman inside that, we had car that erupted into fire, and then we had a home that had significant fire that is red tagged. It’s at this point destroyed.”

Heche is currently in a Los Angeles hospital, and had to be intubated following being severely burned.

Soaps fans know that Anne won a Daytime Emmy for her dual roles on Another World and played Vicky and Marley Hudson from 1987-2001.  She has also appeared in the films, Donnie Brasco, Six Days Seven Nights, Wag the Dog. and more.  On television, Heche has appeared in the last few years on: Dancing with the Stars, Quantico and Chicago P.D.
